Zuo Mo

Zuo Mo is the central figure of World of Cultivation. He begins as a memoryless ling-plant farmer whose immobile “zombie face” conceals an easygoing, mercenary temperament. Repeated displacement turns his practical skills into the foundation of a refugee faction, then Mo Cloud Sea, while his search for his stolen past becomes inseparable from protecting A Gui, his teachers, and the companions who chose to follow him.

Biography

The farmer whose face was not his own

Zuo Mo begins as a popular outer disciple of Wu Kong Sword Sect, thin as bamboo and known for the rigid face that earns him the name Little Zombie Mo. He has no grand ambition beyond comfortable work and piles of jingshi. His unusual third-level Little Art of Cloud and Rain lets him monopolize rain-making contracts, while a concealed branch of a ling vein beneath his yard helps his ordinary Ten Principle Scripture carry him from the third to the seventh level of lianqi. The modest life is already built on absence: he remembers nothing before Pei Yuan Ran found him, and a recurring dream warns him not to forget. (Chapters 1–3)

The arrival of Pu Yao destroys that equilibrium. A black dandelion seed opens Zuo Mo's sea of consciousness to an ancient yao who alternately teaches, coerces, and experiments on him. Pu forces him through Embryonic Breathing Spiritual Cultivation, a method that injures him before expanding and restoring his consciousness, then uses repeated cuts of sword essence to accelerate his understanding. The relationship begins without consent or trust: Zuo Mo needs knowledge and power, while Pu controls access to both and routinely hides the price until afterward. Zuo Mo survives by bargaining, stealing practical lessons from every ordeal, and refusing to let Pu define his goals. (Chapters 16–21, 26–29)

Shi Feng Rong gives his unease a concrete cause. She identifies his expression as the result of an expert changing his features and judges that the same unknown party erased his memories. Zuo Mo's earlier wish for an easy life ends at that revelation. He accepts that he is too weak to confront whoever did it and chooses cultivation as the only route to an answer. After he earns the spring-sprout ling-plant farmer medal, Shi Feng Rong accepts him as her disciple; her dan-making instruction and severe standards add disciplined craft to the resourcefulness he developed alone. (Chapters 26, 31, 33–36)

Before the Sword Test Conference, Zuo Mo takes the Water Drop sword from Yan Ming Zi during a sect conflict and begins combining Li Water and ice sword essences. At the conference, he refuses to behave like a conventional sword disciple and turns the Great Pine Pavilion into a layered Skyring Moon Chime Formation. His newly soul-tethered Five Colored Pagoda controls the formation while he faces several stronger competitors at once. The final Moon Chime Sound Storm wrecks the arena, injures him and the remaining contenders, and leaves the pagoda cracked, but earns him third place. More importantly, it proves that cultivation, formations, forging, and opportunism can be one method rather than separate occupations. (Chapters 82–99, 129–159)

Golden Crow City and the people who would not be discarded

Sent to Desolate Wood Reef with junior disciples, Zuo Mo turns an isolated posting into a workshop and toll point. He studies the micro-formations inside Golden Crow Pills, builds larger defensive formations, shares his eclectic jade-scroll collection, and extracts payment from travelers without surrendering caution. When bandits attack, the tempered Buddha Sound Hoop and Five Colored Pagoda let the island's formation defeat a much larger force. This period transforms money from a private comfort into operating capital: jingshi buys formations, medicine, beasts, and enough time for vulnerable disciples to become useful. (Chapters 163–203)

The invasion and the collapse of local order strand his group in Little Mountain Jie. Zuo Mo's response is not a heroic duel but organization. He forges Puppet Chess so Gongsun Cha can study command, gives captives scriptures and rewards, and supports the formation of Vermillion Bird Camp. He also accepts the enslaved Shu Long and his companions, whose bodies have been ruined by black meditation, and allows Pu Yao to teach them a mo formation. Zuo Mo initially calculates their cost with habitual stinginess, but his repeated choice is to invest in people whom established powers treat as expendable. (Chapters 205–238)

Golden Crow City grows from that bargain between survival and production. Zuo Mo extracts Golden Crow Fire, designs formation battle watchtowers, uses the Buddha Sound Hoop to bind the city into one defensive system, and nurtures Sonic Lightning Walnuts as high-impact weapons. Gongsun Cha's campaigns secure resources while Zuo Mo's workshops convert them into fortifications and equipment. Against Clear Sky Old Forefather, the city and its camps are not strong enough for a clean victory; they survive through coordinated formations, costly weapons, and the willingness to evacuate rather than defend a symbol after its strategic purpose is exhausted. (Chapters 238–303)

In Sky Water Jie, surrounding sects try to use the refugees as a whetstone. Zuo Mo lets himself remain visibly exposed while Gongsun Cha moves the real force at night, destroys the enemy camps, and returns before their opponents can react. When Gongsun Cha proposes exploiting the rout, Zuo Mo refuses: killing the watching local cultivators would make the Little Mountain refugees permanent enemies of their new home. He instead helps establish Little Mountain City and then leaves, accepting immediate expense so the larger displaced population can live without inheriting his faction's war. (Chapters 317–322)

One body for three powers

The next journey separates Zuo Mo from the institutional world that once defined him. Pu draws a thread of his soul into the Ten Finger Prison and teaches him to deconstruct yao arts; under the name Xiao Mo Ge, Zuo Mo breaks the first prison and reconstructs it as the Wasteland Beast Chessboard. He teaches Nan Yue and later other yao without revealing that their mysterious instructor is a xiuzhe. The double life is practical camouflage, but it also confirms Pu's early lesson: xiu spells, yao arts, and mo skills are distinct systems, not moral categories. (Chapters 324–371)

His own cultivation makes that argument physical. Great Day essence from his mo physique begins to integrate with the star spiritual sand produced by his consciousness rather than destroying it. In the sealed ancient battlefield, this hybrid body gives him speed, durability, and the Light Void Wings, while his formation knowledge and the reunited Wei Sheng's sword protect the group from fiend corpses and spatial dangers. Zuo Mo cannot simply force advancement: Pu warns that failure while advancing a mo physique can destroy the soul, and each temporary burst leaves him depleted or exposed. (Chapters 313–343, 364–418)

The strange corpse known as Shi gives Zuo Mo the Sun Crystal Seed at the place where a Sun Tribe warrior fell. Zuo Mo initially cannot use or even grade it; after Shi seals it, it resembles a harmless crystal. In the Greenwood Secret Realm and the Sun shen temple, however, the seed authenticates him to ancient mechanisms, protects him automatically from some attacks, and gives access to remnants of the shen era. Zuo Mo learns that shen power preceded the three later systems, but the inheritance is fragmentary and the seed does not protect him from every threat. (Chapters 417, 492–502)

At Turtle Island, these discoveries become a social system rather than private treasure. Zuo Mo builds island-scale formations, moves rare ling plants into protected gardens, expands Golden Crow Camp, and uses captured resources to equip the camps. The awakening of the Black Gold Seal Soldier shows the unpredictable side of his craft, while repeated attacks force him to fight with Great Day mo physique, formations, and the first reconstructed traces of shen power together. He stops being merely the owner of a fortified island; his production network, camps, and mixed xiu-yaomo followers now function as a faction. (Chapters 445–509)

Xiao Mo Ge searches for A Gui

The expedition for a water cloud embryo ends when Ding Zhen's intervention tears Zuo Mo and A Gui away from Turtle Island. Disguised and cut off from his armies, he travels the mo world with A Gui and Ceng Lian'er, searching for materials that can heal A Gui's soul and for a road back to his people. His commercial instincts become camouflage: as Xiao Yun Hai he studies unfamiliar mo-weapon pools, bargains for rare materials, and builds a reputation as a forger, while the public identity Xiao Mo Ge attracts challengers and enemies. (Chapters 525–529, 555–617)

Great Peace City turns that disguise into open conflict. Zuo Mo studies the Great Peace Mo Stele, survives elite challengers, and uses the Three Thousand Threads of Worry to restrain the ancient Anti Dragon Claw. He pulls the weapon in front of Lin Qian's decisive sword strike and survives, then leaves with the claw after the Great Peace Treasure Pavilion collapses. The achievement is not effortless domination: the claw's vicious force resists control, Lin Qian's attack empties Zuo Mo, and his success depends on a thread technique, timing, and companions holding the wider battlefield. (Chapters 602–626)

The Nether Decay Reincarnation Lotus reveals the true scale of A Gui's sacrifice. Her soul has been imprisoned by the Undying Shen Punishment, a self-imposed cycle in which injury produces undying shen power and the soul remains sealed from all sensation. The remnant of consciousness she left in her body carried one command—find Young Master—and she has used her suffering to strengthen the power protecting him. Zuo Mo's search for his past therefore changes direction: identifying A Gui is no longer enough; he resolves to understand shen power deeply enough to free her, even though Wei knows of no precedent. (Chapters 658–681)

That decision also reunites personal and collective duty. Zuo Mo reconstructs shen power with Pu and Wei, studying how spirit, body, and ling power descended from a common source, and deliberately seeks battles to test the incomplete theory. Fighting Xuan Kong Temple's pursuers both accelerates his cultivation and draws pressure away from Gongsun Cha and Bie Han. When his commanders arrive, the rescue mission becomes a campaign: Xuan Kong Temple loses its field army and collapses, while the territories and mixed populations gathered by Zuo Mo's faction take the name Mo Cloud Sea. (Chapters 681–714)

The forger who made shen power practical

Zuo Mo's years among the mo culminate in the identity of Xiao Yun Hai. He learns to activate the latent nature of even low-grade materials, combines mo matrices with seal scripts, and uses the violent balance of earth fire and cold currents in a mo-weapon pool. The accidental Angel Device Raiment is so close to a shen device that every major power wants to study it. He refuses an immediate sale, demonstrates it publicly, and uses the attention to trade for information and soul-healing resources, showing that production can change the strategic balance as decisively as a battalion. (Chapters 695–717)

The same breakthrough has limits and consequences. Angel Device Raiment is an accidental product whose internal structure Zuo Mo initially cannot fully explain, and its visibility places both Xiao Yun Hai and Xiao Mo Ge under suspicion. Later, the raiment passes to Gu Liang Dao, while Zuo Mo converts the lessons into repeatable shen equipment for Mo Cloud Sea. He does not mass-produce true shen devices: suitable materials must survive shen power, the glyph or formation must match the intended force, and even a successful device can overload, as the cracked Little Mo Treasure Cup demonstrates. (Chapters 716–745, 863, 873)

In the Totem Coliseum, Zuo Mo's party confronts ancient systems on their own terms. He and A Gui defeat the Ghost Mist Child inside the Mist Eye Tablet, then accept his submission rather than destroying a source of knowledge. The Green Pulse String found there supplies a usable shen glyph, but Zuo Mo later gives it to Qing Xiao, a Greenvine descendant who can draw out far more of its power. The choice resolves the promise inherited from Qing Lin and shows how far Zuo Mo's possessiveness has changed: the right custodian can matter more than keeping a rare treasure. (Chapters 789–808)

The rebuilt King's Forbidden Firmament finally unlocks the central memory shared by Zuo Mo and A Gui. Because he reconstructs its childhood city from fragments in his own mind, A Gui recognizes its paths and the small yard where they lived. She awakens, calls him Young Master, and offers to protect him as before; he answers that it is now his turn to protect her. The corpus never restores a complete account of his parents or the people who altered him, but it does restore the relationship that made the missing past emotionally meaningful. (Chapters 810–812)

Mo Cloud Sea's prosperity does not remove the original pressure. Zuo Mo trains because A Gui, Mo Cloud Sea, and vengeance for his Wu Kong teachers now depend on his strength. He combines the Sun Shen Methodology with a shen-power whirlpool and the burning flows released by the Sun Crystal Seed, captures Tian Huan experts, and supports coordinated attacks on Tian Huan's logistics. By the great-sect war, his most important creation is not one weapon but an industrial culture in which formations, forgers, camps, and high-level experts can operate as one system. (Chapters 818–834)

Burning the seed and taking the Nether throne

Tian Huan's Chief Elder forces Zuo Mo's cultivation beyond every safe boundary. Zuo Mo, A Gui, and Wei Sheng cannot defeat the newly god-level elder through their established methods. Zuo Mo burns his shen power, cracks the Sun Crystal Seed, and finally shatters it to release burning sun flows accumulated on a scale far beyond his own foundation. Directly observing those flows lets him understand the Sun Shen Methodology as an imitation of the true sun and recognize flaws in the inherited text, but the released force is also capable of destroying him. (Chapters 835–845)

Pu Yao, Wei, and the companions around him turn that suicidal opening into survival. A sun tree sprouts in Zuo Mo's sea of consciousness, absorbs the burning flows, and produces small suns whose power he can begin to control. When five companions are left near death, Zuo Mo refuses to escape alone, seals them in shen-wood coffins, and spends almost all the new tree's power to preserve them. His god-level breakthrough is consequently unstable, and he drifts through the endless void for ten years while wounded and pulling the coffins behind him. (Chapters 849–852, 864)

The Nether Realm gives him a route to rebuild without pretending he is already healed. Zuo Mo cannot freely cultivate local nether shen power because it conflicts with his sun shen power, so he studies instead. He repairs the Wu Ge Shen Methodology, forges a chariot that converts ambient power and lightning into shen power, identifies base shen power at the boundary between death and vitality, and uses god-level perception even when his reserves are nearly empty. His recovery depends on knowledge, rare materials, the sun tree, and eventually ancient essence blood—not on effortless regeneration. (Chapters 852–880)

Shi selects Zuo Mo as successor to the Nether throne. Zuo Mo does not accept merely because of power: the kingship offers the armies, resources, and legitimacy needed to protect his people and restore the sealed companions. After recovering Pu Yao and Wei, he defeats Hai Xin Bing's challenge with the forged King's Domain. The five companions awaken afterward, and Zuo Mo becomes the recognized King. The office expands his obligations from one faction to a realm, while An Mo and the old Nether commanders supply an institution he did not have to build from nothing. (Chapters 876–891)

As King, Zuo Mo hides the connection between Mo Cloud Sea and the Nether Realm long enough to shape the final war. He draws shen power from massed battalions without the usual destructive overload, forges equipment during the campaign, and binds mo and yao forces into one alliance. When Kun Lun commits its final armies against an evacuated Mo Cloud Sea, he reveals that the Nether King and Zuo Mo are the same person. The disclosure destroys Kun Lun's strategic premise: the enemies it hoped to defeat in sequence are one command structure, and its exposed homeland is already being overrun. (Chapters 883–899, 914–915)

Zuo Mo arrives after Wei Sheng and Lin Qian have fought for ten days and nights, with enough restored experts behind him to make Kun Lun's defeat unmistakable. He does not end by recovering every lost memory or restoring the world that preceded the war. Instead, he and Wei Sheng clear the overgrown ruins of Wu Kong Mountain. Wei Sheng chooses to establish Sword House there, and Zuo Mo asks him to attend his wedding to A Gui. The last promise replaces the comfortable solitary life he once imagined with a home consciously made from surviving relationships. (Chapter 915)

Appearance and personality

At his first appearance, Zuo Mo is thin “like a stalk of bamboo,” wears the loose purple clothing of a Wu Kong outer disciple, and has a dark, gloomy face that does not move with his emotions. Other disciples initially avoid the zombie-like expression, then learn that it does not reflect his temperament. Shi Feng Rong later states that the features themselves were changed by a high-level technique; the corpus therefore never supplies a verified description of his original face. A bronze mask temporarily covers the altered features during the Sun shen-temple expedition. (Chapters 1, 26, 502)

Cultivation changes his body more clearly than it changes that face. Great Day mo physique produces a dark-gold, physically powerful body and can manifest translucent golden Light Void Wings. At the Central Plains battle, the heat of his sun shen power melts his equipment, exposing sharply defined dark-gold muscles while floating sun glyphs appear in his eyes. These are active cultivation states rather than a permanent replacement appearance; outside battle, the defining description remains the rigid face whose visible expression often fails to match his excitement, greed, fear, or affection. (Chapters 313–315, 835)

Zuo Mo is practical, acquisitive, suspicious of debts, and openly delighted by anything that can be sold. His obsession with jingshi is also a survival discipline: he calculates the material cost of spells, does not expose wealth without reason, and distrusts favors whose price is unclear. Yet the larger his responsibilities become, the more often he spends treasure to preserve people—feeding formations, equipping camps, supporting refugees, healing A Gui, and preserving five companions at the cost of his newly formed sun tree. His thrift never disappears; its object changes from his own comfort to the durability of his community. (Chapters 1–3, 129–131, 159, 322, 849–852)

He avoids battle when a bargain, disguise, formation, or retreat will work, but he is not cowardly. Pressure makes him intensely industrious, and threats to his people can turn caution into fury. He is capable of deception and harsh intimidation, especially toward enemies and reluctant sources of information, while remaining unusually willing to teach across xiu, yao, and mo divisions. His mature leadership rests on the same habit as his early farming: understand what each resource can actually do, put it where it has the greatest effect, and do not sacrifice it merely for appearances. (Chapters 174, 205–238, 324–371, 681, 790–808, 824)

Abilities and cultivation

Zuo Mo's cultivation cannot be described by one orthodox stage progression. He simultaneously develops ling power, consciousness, mo physique, and finally reconstructed shen power. Several abilities commonly associated with him are devices, temporary states, or named transformations rather than innate powers; those distinctions are noted below.

Ling farming, elemental arts, and consciousness

His first genuine specialty is the five elemental ling-plant arts. Little Art of Cloud and Rain gathers and controls moisture; Art of Flora manipulates plant vitality through finger movements; Art of Aged Gold uses consciousness to find and destroy pests; Earth Energy Art communicates with the ground; and Crimson Flame Art trains calm, endurance, and fire control. Reaching the fourth level of cloud-and-rain and earning the spring-sprout medal establish that these are not decorative side skills. Their early range is a field or cultivation plot, and their effectiveness depends on local elemental energy, fine control, and enough ling power. (Chapters 1, 11, 31–34)

Embryonic Breathing Spiritual Cultivation is taught under coercion by Pu Yao. It uses a breath-like cycle of consciousness, initially causing severe pain and injury but then restoring and enlarging the spirit. Its “breaths” produce the sensitivity Zuo Mo later uses to control many formation nodes, inspect minute material changes, and enter the Ten Finger Prison as a thread of primary soul. The limitations are material: early practice can incapacitate him, a separated soul can die if it cannot return, and extended Ten Finger Prison use is capped by the strength of his consciousness. (Chapters 18–21, 36, 153–158, 324)

Yao-art study gives that consciousness an analytic vocabulary. Pu teaches Zuo Mo to deconstruct the thousands of low-level arts embedded in Vast Water Clear Skies; Zuo Mo later reconstructs the prison and instructs Nan Yue through small, efficient arts rather than inherited sect prestige. His Wasteland Beast Chessboard is a modification of the prison environment, not an object he carries. At higher cultivation, the same analytic habit lets him read unfamiliar shen-power circulation and device structures quickly, but incomplete ancient language or an entirely new system can still block him until he observes a working example. (Chapters 324–371, 681, 845, 863–868)

Sword essence, formations, and direct combat

Zuo Mo learns sword combat in fragments. Wei Sheng's travel record gives him practical foundation; Pu Yao subjects him to Xin Yan's sword essence; and he fuses Li Water's explosive calm with ice sword essence. His early Water Drop sword can change shape, conduct water-aligned ling power, and carry the Li Water Scripture, but it remains a third-grade weapon and his low cultivation prevents full use of higher-grade swords. He is most dangerous when sword essence becomes a component of a formation or feint rather than when he contests a pure sword xiu directly. (Chapters 19–29, 60, 82–99)

Formations are his first battlefield equalizer. Skyring Moon Chime links numerous child formations through a central controller; the Buddha Sound Hoop and Five Colored Pagoda let him produce sound attacks, hard-lightning barrages, illusions, and a Moon Chime Sound Storm over a prepared area. Formation battle watchtowers later turn Golden Crow City into a single defensive apparatus. The costs are preparation, materials, terrain, and control: enemies outside the boundary are unaffected, damaged nodes reduce the whole, and the Sword Test collision wounds Zuo Mo and nearly destroys the pagoda. (Chapters 139–159, 187–203, 264, 287–298)

His mature combat method mixes physical speed, formations, shen techniques, devices, and misdirection. He can use an apparently weaker layer to provoke a response, then change the power system or weapon before the enemy adapts. This flexibility is not unlimited mastery: Lin Qian outclasses him in pure sword exchange, Chief Elder overwhelms his party before the seed breaks, and specialized shen equipment can suppress him until he understands its mechanism. Zuo Mo's advantage is the speed at which he converts a failed exchange into information for the next one. (Chapters 622–626, 742–743, 802–825, 835–845)

Great Day mo physique and Ten Crow Celestial Apparatus

Great Day mo physique is a cultivated body system, not innate anatomy. It produces Great Day essence that strengthens flesh, tolerates impacts that would kill ordinary xiuzhe, and supports explosive close combat. Its named transformations include Light Void Wings, which provide sudden near-disappearing movement, and other shifts used to change force or defense. Bursts consume the stored physical power rapidly, and advancement carries the stated risk of soul destruction. Techniques that suppress or redirect its fire and force can still trap him, as the Five Element Fog Shield demonstrates before the Black Gold Seal Soldier intervenes. (Chapters 313–323, 450–468)

Greenvine Mystical Water, Soul Setting Divine Light, and especially the Sun Crystal Seed drive the physique's later advancement into Ten Crow Celestial Apparatus. Pu and Wei identify it as a rare general-level mo physique ranked third among its class. It enhances the sun-aligned body and provides a better vessel for shen power, but it is not a portable apparatus despite its name. Nor does rank remove compatibility problems: sun power can conflict with nether shen power, and the body's capacity remains a hard limit when Zuo Mo draws external power. (Chapters 492–556, 876, 883)

The body also becomes a bridge between systems. Star spiritual sand from consciousness enters his flesh and attracts Great Day essence instead of fighting it, an interaction Pu regards as contrary to established cultivation knowledge. This integration helps Zuo Mo carry spirit, body, and ling power together into reconstructed shen power. It does not mean the three powers are freely interchangeable in a crisis: conversion takes time, and the delay nearly kills him in the Sun temple. (Chapters 343, 491–502, 555–556)

Reconstructed shen power and the Sun Shen Methodology

Zuo Mo's first stable shen power is reconstructed rather than inherited whole. With Pu Yao and Wei, he compares xiu spells, yao arts, mo skills, tribal sacrifices, and the Great Peace Mo Stele to infer their shared source. A whirlpool in his right hand later produces small but continuous amounts, while cultivation and combat build a larger reserve. At mortal level the power can defeat many yuanying opponents, but fanxu experts remain dangerous; its early techniques are incomplete, and Zuo Mo deliberately uses battle to discover circulation patterns that surviving texts do not explain. (Chapters 491–497, 555–588, 681)

The Sun Shen Methodology supplies the primary alignment. It produces masculine heat, golden flame, Sun Shen Thorn, Sun Shen Axe, and other techniques whose power is especially effective against ghost-mist and yin forces. The axe is a manifested technique, not a separately forged possession. Its attacks can split massive constructs and burn hostile energy, but repeated blows make his arms sore and can destabilize the manifestation; agile opponents or stronger shen devices can evade, deflect, or outlast it. Zuo Mo's Anti Dragon Claw applications are item-assisted and should not be confused with this innate methodology. (Chapters 492–502, 679, 775–803)

The Sun Crystal Seed initially acts as an external sealed reserve inside him. It opens Sun Tribe mechanisms, automatically counters some attacks, feeds burning flows into his shen power, and later spins faster under pressure. It does not answer every command and is inert against some overwhelming threats. Shattering it releases power far beyond Zuo Mo's foundation; that emergency act enables god-level but would have destroyed him without Pu Yao, Wei, and the sun tree absorbing the flows. The seed is consumed in the process, so the later state is not continued possession of an intact artifact. (Chapters 417, 492–502, 824–850)

At god-level, the sun tree in his sea of consciousness grows small suns and converts burning flows into controllable, unusually pure sun shen power. His perception can identify another methodology's workings even while his own reserves are exhausted, and ancient essence blood later helps the tree form three suns and restore true god-level output. Limits remain visible: preserving the coffins nearly empties the tree, injuries persist for ten years, incompatible nether power cannot simply be absorbed, and large-area exertion or group amplification depends on available external power and a body capable of channeling it. (Chapters 849–880, 883–890)

Forging, dan-making, and shen devices

Shi Feng Rong trains Zuo Mo in dan-making, but he learns by reverse-engineering as much as by recipe. He isolates the formation changes inside Golden Crow Pills, combines Stalagmite Fire, Lava Earth Fire, and poison acquired while processing an Inky Black Lotus seed, and uses multi-turn fire formations to work materials above his apparent grade. Failure can poison or exhaust him, and higher-grade material may require years without the right fire or formation. These constraints drive his characteristic solution: combine a modest personal reserve with a more efficient furnace, controller, or environmental source. (Chapters 34–47, 109–110, 129–174)

His forging develops from swords and seals into city systems. Five Colored Pagoda improves five-element control; formation battle watchtowers nurture lightning and distribute attacks; Golden Crow City links defenses, workshops, and energy sources; Turtle Island uses paired island formations and specialized camps. None of these systems is free. They consume high-grade materials and energy, require maintenance, and may be immobile or vulnerable at a central node. Their strategic strength is that ordinary cultivators can operate within them, allowing accumulated craft to substitute for rare individual cultivation. (Chapters 129–174, 238–298, 445–509)

As Xiao Yun Hai, Zuo Mo learns that a shen device requires both materials able to tolerate shen power and a glyph or formation matched to the intended effect. Angel Device Raiment emerges accidentally from a failed sequence of earth-mo-weapon forgings; the Little Mo Treasure Cup stores and releases enormous lightning but cracks beyond repair when overloaded. By the Nether period, god-level perception and fire control let him copy principles from the Mist Eye Tablet, forge pseudo-shen devices, repair methodologies through their embodied mechanics, and build vehicles that convert ambient nether energy or lightning into usable shen power. Such conversion drains the surrounding area and slows subsequent recovery. (Chapters 672–745, 859–873)

His latest forging operates during campaigns rather than only in workshops. Zuo Mo can perceive shen-glyph patterns, shape equipment while moving, and tailor devices to the recipient's methodology. This is expert knowledge, not spontaneous creation from nothing: he depends on the exceptional materials gathered in the void and Nether Realm, and he treats true shen devices as distinct from repeatable pseudo-shen equipment. His decisive contribution is therefore a production method that can be taught, staffed, and scaled through Mo Cloud Sea, not a claim that every object he makes is unique divine equipment. (Chapters 863–884)

Leadership and power aggregation

Zuo Mo is not a battle general on Gongsun Cha's level. His command strength lies in selecting people, financing their development, and joining military, productive, and intelligence work around a shared objective. He gives Gongsun Cha freedom to train captives, allows Shu Long's Guard Camp to cultivate a mo method, places Golden Crow Camp at the center of equipment production, and later relies on Bie Han and other commanders without forcing their styles into one mold. This approach depends on trust and capable specialists; when separated from them, he returns to smaller formations, bargaining, and personal craft. (Chapters 205–238, 294–322, 445–509, 628–714)

At the Nether throne, leadership acquires literal power mechanics. Zuo Mo's god-level attractive force acts like a whirlpool, drawing roughly twice the shen power that nearby battalion members ordinarily release without making him explode. At the largest scale, tens of thousands of elite soldiers and prepared formations can support his god-level output; the corpus does not identify a single device as the required connector for every such aggregation. Separately, Zuo Mo forges King's Domain as a square golden box that unfolds into a shen-glyph field. It encloses and suppresses Hai Xin Bing's hostile battalion while amplifying the Black Gold Seal Soldier fighting inside. These effects depend on the forces and constructed conditions shown in each scene rather than an innate infinite reserve. (Chapters 883 and 889–899)

Relationships

A Gui

A Gui is the surviving bond to Zuo Mo's erased childhood. Before he remembers her, she follows and protects him with apparently empty instinct; the Nether Decay Reincarnation Lotus reveals that she imposed the Undying Shen Punishment on herself and left her body the command to find Young Master. That discovery makes freeing her the organizing purpose of his shen-power study. When the reconstructed childhood city restores their recognition, Zuo Mo reverses the old promise and commits to protecting her. The corpus ends with their wedding planned, not yet shown. (Chapters 658–681, 810–812, 915)

Pu Yao and Wei

Pu Yao begins as coercive tenant, dangerous teacher, and source of nearly every early shortcut Zuo Mo distrusts. Their exchanges gradually become collaboration: Zuo Mo gives Pu resources and a route back into the world; Pu trains Gongsun Cha, teaches yao arts, and eventually spends himself to save Zuo Mo from the broken Sun Crystal Seed. Wei enters as the more protective voice of the gravestone armor and supplies ancient tribal knowledge. Reconstructing shen power and saving A Gui turn the three from mutually suspicious occupants of one sea of consciousness into a family whose sacrifices Zuo Mo spends ten years reversing. (Chapters 16–36, 205–238, 324–343, 681, 838–880)

Wei Sheng and Wu Kong Sword Sect

Wei Sheng is Zuo Mo's Eldest Shixiong, early benefactor, and final martial counterpart. His Fire Dragon Grass commission and travel record give Zuo Mo practical confidence before either becomes famous. Separation tests the relationship more than proximity: Wei Sheng rejects the claim that a mo physique makes Zuo Mo a traitor, crosses the mo world for him, and is willing to spend his life against Chief Elder. Zuo Mo answers by refusing to abandon him and preserving him in a coffin. Their return to Wu Kong Mountain affirms that loyalty to Pei Yuan Ran, Xin Yan, and Shi Feng Rong survives Kun Lun's destruction of the sect. (Chapters 19–29, 156, 328–365, 556, 835–880, 915)

Gongsun Cha, Shu Long, and the camps

Gongsun Cha converts Zuo Mo's resources and protection into an army, while Zuo Mo gives him unusual autonomy after recognizing his talent through Puppet Chess. Their partnership works because they divide responsibility: Gongsun Cha designs campaigns and institutions; Zuo Mo supplies strategic objectives, production, and the willingness to stop a victory when its political cost is too high. Shu Long represents the same pattern among people once treated as disposable. Zuo Mo's acceptance lets Guard Camp form, and Guard Camp's loyalty repeatedly makes his mixed faction survivable. (Chapters 205–238, 294–322, 445–509, 628–714)

Ceng Lian'er and the yaomo disciples

Ceng Lian'er begins as a wary fellow shen-power cultivator whose survival is safer beside Zuo Mo than alone. Traveling with him and A Gui makes her a collaborator in the experimental reconstruction of shen power, and she remains with the group even when warned that his plan against Xuan Kong Temple is dangerous. Zuo Mo's anonymous instruction of Nan Yue, later aid to Qinghua Xue, and transfer of the Green Pulse String to Qing Xiao extend the same principle: technique and responsibility matter more to him than species boundaries. (Chapters 324–371, 555–681, 789–808)

Lin Qian

Lin Qian is first a wealthy, unreadable observer whose favors Zuo Mo deliberately refuses to owe. Their rivalry becomes structural after Kun Lun treats Wu Kong as expendable and hunts Zuo Mo for his mixed cultivation and shen inheritance. Lin Qian's sword repeatedly exposes the limits of Zuo Mo's direct combat, while Zuo Mo's formations, alliances, hidden identities, and production expose the limits of Kun Lun's centralized power. Zuo Mo ultimately defeats him strategically rather than in a final personal duel: the revealed union of Mo Cloud Sea and the yaomo makes Kun Lun's last campaign meaningless before Zuo Mo reaches the battlefield. (Chapters 129–131, 622–626, 824–850, 914–915)

Items

The following list records association and changing custody, not an assumption that every named entry remains a portable possession. Several catalogued “items” are techniques, transformations, constructed environments, consumed resources, or independently acting beings.

ItemConnection and disposition
Five Colored PagodaZuo Mo buys the unfinished five-element talisman, makes it soul-tethered, and uses it to control formations and separate materials into elemental essence. It develops cognition as Lil' Pagoda and acts on its own initiative; its repeated hunger for materials is a cost as well as a capability. (Chapters 129–163)
Sun Crystal SeedShi gives and seals the Sun Tribe remnant. It opens ancient mechanisms, protects Zuo Mo in limited circumstances, and later supplies burning flows. Zuo Mo shatters it against Chief Elder; the released power is absorbed into the sun tree, so the intact seed no longer exists afterward. (Chapters 417, 492–502, 824–850)
Black Gold SealThe item is the black-gold seal paper and forging medium through which a seal soldier is summoned. Zuo Mo's reforging produces Black Gold Seal Soldier, an independently speaking, choosing, fighting person who calls him Big Brother. The item and the person are related but not interchangeable; the soldier is never treated here as Zuo Mo's property. (Chapters 450–468, 614, 743, 857–890)
Anti Dragon ClawZuo Mo subdues the ancient sky-mo weapon in Great Peace City with the Three Thousand Threads of Worry, uses it to block Lin Qian, and later wields its vicious physical force with sun shen power. It is unusually rebellious and difficult to reforge, so control depends on Zuo Mo's later power rather than passive ownership. (Chapters 622–626, 802–808)
Wasteland Beast ChessboardThis is Zuo Mo's reconstruction and naming of the first Ten Finger Prison after a prison-breaking battle, not a board stored in his ring. It becomes a public yao training environment and the place where his identity as Xiao Mo Ge first spreads. (Chapters 354–371)
Water DropZuo Mo erases Yan Ming Zi's weak imprint and takes the flexible third-grade water sword as compensation after a sect conflict. He uses it for Li Water Sword Scripture and early conference combat; later chapters do not establish continuing use after his weapon systems change. (Chapters 82–99)
Ten Crow Celestial ApparatusDespite the catalog name, this is the general-level mo physique into which Zuo Mo's Great Day mo physique advances under the influence of the Sun Crystal Seed, Greenvine Mystical Water, and Soul Setting Divine Light. It is a cultivated bodily state, not portable equipment. (Chapters 555–556)
Angel Device RaimentZuo Mo accidentally forges this near-shen-device raiment from the final earth-mo-weapon batch and refuses to sell it at its first demonstration. It later passes to Gu Liang Dao and strengthens his faction; Zuo Mo retains the forging insight, not permanent custody of the original raiment. (Chapters 713–717, 745)
Light Void WingsThese translucent golden wings are the first transformation of Great Day mo physique. They provide explosive movement and fade when the stored physical power recedes. They are a temporary body manifestation rather than detachable wings. (Chapters 313–315)
Sonic Lightning WalnutGongsun Cha's campaign captures a mature tree for the faction. Zuo Mo tempers its fruits with hard lightning, mounts them in formation watchtowers, and distributes them as costly explosive weapons; he later plants the tree at the heart of Turtle Island's lightning formation. (Chapters 238–264, 317–322, 447–448)
Little Mo Treasure CupZuo Mo forges and names the seven-coin lightning talisman, whose stored force can counter a much stronger opponent. Driving it at full output melts a coin and leaves the cup cracked beyond repair, making it an example of shen-power overload rather than a permanent late-series weapon. (Chapters 672–673, 742)
Sun Shen AxeThe axe is a golden weapon manifestation of the Sun Shen Methodology. Zuo Mo forms it from sun shen power for heavy cleaving attacks; Lil' Pagoda can imitate the form, but there is no separate forged axe whose custody persists between manifestations. (Chapters 775–803, 821)
Buddha Sound HoopZuo Mo receives and tempers the hoop, then uses its sound and hard-lightning attributes as the controller of Skyring Moon Chime formations at Desolate Wood Reef and Golden Crow City. Heavy counterattacks dim it and risk lowering its grade, so he repeatedly withdraws it for nurturing. (Chapters 187–203, 287–298)
Green Pulse StringZuo Mo acquires the naturally grown ancient string in the Totem Coliseum and uses its Green Pulse shen glyph. Because he cannot draw out its full potential, he gives it to Qing Xiao, a Greenvine descendant for whom it responds naturally. Qing Xiao, not Zuo Mo, is its later wielder. (Chapters 793–808, 852–858)
Inky Black LotusZuo Mo processes a dangerous fourth-grade lotus seed as a paid forging commission rather than keeping the original seed. Its toxin enters his composite flame and is later separated for the Rainbow Mark Butterfly. The lasting connection is a derived poison/fire technique, not continuing custody of the commissioned lotus. (Chapters 109–110, 129, 161, 202)
Mist Eye TabletAfter surviving its inner mist world with A Gui, Zuo Mo takes custody of the damaged tablet and accepts the Ghost Mist Child's submission. The tablet forms its own world, stores mist and later shelters Pu Yao and Wei; its associated spirit retains agency and technical knowledge. (Chapters 789–796, 868, 880)
Puppet ChessZuo Mo forges this illusion-based war-chess board from Pu Yao's rules for Gongsun Cha's training. Its miniature terrain, weather, and forces make it a command simulator; Gongsun Cha's aptitude, not Zuo Mo's play, turns it into the foundation of Vermillion Bird Camp. (Chapter 205)
