Buddha Sound Hoop

The Buddha Sound Hoop is Zuo Mo's sound-type talisman and the portable core of his Skyring Moon Chime Formation. Fire-and-lightning tempering raises the originally incomplete hoop to fourth grade, after which it coordinates fixed formation structures into wide-area mental, sonic, and hard-lightning attacks. Zuo Mo retrieves it before Desolate Wood Reef is destroyed and later integrates it into Golden Crow City's defenses. (Chapters 187–192, 203, and 287–298)

History

Battlefield tempering completes the formation core

The hoop is still one step short of complete tempering when Zuo Mo first deploys the Skyring Moon Chime Formation at Desolate Wood Reef. He places the Five Colored Pagoda beneath the orange hoop as a substitute formation controller, allowing him to move elsewhere in the formation. After defeating Zhang Hao, Zuo Mo uses the active fire formation to finish the interrupted work. The hoop changes from red to gold, emits Buddha sound, and absorbs both Golden Crow Fire and hard lightning. (Chapters 187, 189, and 191–192)

Zuo Mo continues nurturing the completed hoop in the lava fire formation and is prepared to sacrifice it if necessary to defend the island. When overwhelming lightning is about to destroy Desolate Wood Reef, however, he recalls the hoop into his bosom before fleeing. The island explodes only after the golden talisman returns to him, explicitly separating the hoop's survival from the destruction of the fixed formation site. (Chapters 193–194 and 203)

Integration with Golden Crow City multiplies its reach

At Golden Crow City, Zuo Mo throws the hoop above the walls, where it becomes a shining sun linked by golden threads to thirty-six formation battle watchtowers. Its fire-and-lightning attributes match the city and towers, allowing the portable hoop to turn the prepared structures into a larger Skyring Moon Chime Formation. This integration, rather than the hoop acting alone, multiplies the formation's power and range. (Chapter 287)

The strengthened Moon Chime Sound Storm injures or immobilizes attackers while the hoop's chant clears the minds and fatigue of defenders, enabling the towers' hard lightning to strike vulnerable targets. Zuo Mo later uses the same combination to catch Clear Sky Old Forefather in the sound storm long enough for successive lightning bolts to hit him. The corpus records no subsequent transfer, destruction, dismantling, or consumption, so its latest supported condition remains active in Zuo Mo's custody. (Chapters 289 and 298)

Abilities and properties

• Formation-core portability: The hoop can serve as the central talisman of the Skyring Moon Chime Formation while another controller, such as the Five Colored Pagoda, manages the array. It can be recalled and carried away independently of the fixed formation site. (Chapters 189, 197, and 203)
• Fire-and-lightning refinement: Tempering with Golden Crow Fire and hard lightning changes the hoop from red to gold and raises it from an ordinary third-grade sound talisman to a specially processed fourth-grade artifact. (Chapters 191–192 and 287)
• Buddha Chant: Its discovered formation technique projects an unavoidable-seeming sound that attacks the mind, disrupts stronger opponents, and can lethally injure weaker ones within the formation's reach. The demonstrated scale at Golden Crow City depends on the thirty-six towers and city formation. (Chapters 287–289)
• Moon Chime Sound Storm: When used as the core of the larger formation, the hoop helps generate an expanding invisible sound ripple that pauses or injures targets and creates openings for hard-lightning attacks. (Chapters 289 and 298)
• Supportive effect on allies: The same chanting that harms attackers clears defenders' minds and relieves exhaustion, improving their execution of coordinated tower attacks. (Chapter 289)
• Dependence on prepared infrastructure: The hoop is portable, but its most destructive documented effects arise when paired with formation anchors such as Desolate Wood Reef's array or Golden Crow City's battle watchtowers; the corpus does not show the bare hoop independently reproducing the city's full attack.
