Water Drop

Water Drop is the high-quality third-grade flying sword that Zuo Mo takes from Ling Ying Sect disciple Yan Ming Zi before the Sword Test Conference. Its water affinity makes it the principal weapon for Zuo Mo's early Li Water Sword Scripture, and its responsive water essence helps him develop a style that combines sword essence, formations, elemental spells, and physical attacks. It is the same sword later reforged and renamed Water Fire Sword, not a separate weapon. (Chapters 81–85, 193–196, and 266)

History

From Yan Ming Zi to Zuo Mo

Yan Ming Zi displays Water Drop as proof of his wealth during a clash with Wu Kong disciples. The three-foot sword has an elongated droplet shape, a deep pond-like surface, and the quality of a top third-grade water-element weapon. Zuo Mo freezes Yan Ming Zi with a spell, notices that the owner's consciousness imprint is weak, seizes the uncontrolled sword, erases that imprint, and uses it to defeat the remaining attackers. He treats the sword as captured compensation rather than returning it; Yan Ming Zi later replaces it with the inferior Deep Ocean sword and openly resents the loss. (Chapters 81–83 and 122)

Zuo Mo nurtures Water Drop in his ling spring and slowly adds his own imprint, improving its luster and responsiveness. The process matters because a flying sword's practical power depends not only on grade but on how thoroughly its user has cultivated and reforged it. Although Water Drop is less naturally suited to Ice Dragon Sword Scripture than his ice-crystal sword, it matches Li Water Sword Scripture and becomes the vehicle through which he learns to merge water, ice, and later fire effects. Early battles and reforging

Water Drop supports Zuo Mo through consecutive sect challenges, yin-fiend hunting, and the Sword Test Conference. It can transmit calm water essence under hostile pressure, deliver techniques such as Flowing Water and Banana Rain, and serve as the water-aligned sword in formation experiments. Zuo Mo's success is not the sword acting alone: his body cultivation lets him seize it, his consciousness controls it, and his formations or spells create openings that a conventional sword duel would not provide. Against Chang Heng's Blood Spider, for example, its blue-flamed sword essence cannot immediately break the opponent's blood defense. (Chapters 86–101 and 112–125)

At Desolate Wood Reef, Zuo Mo gathers materials for a five-essence sword set and reforges Water Drop with fourth-grade Crimson Fire Rock. The addition gives the blade a bright-red outer flame and raises it to the peak of third grade without making it fourth grade; Zuo Mo renames this transformed sword Water Fire Sword. He continues using the underlying Water Drop design in island combat and studies its Flowing Water principle closely enough to imitate the technique with hundreds of formations in the date seed ship, greatly increasing the ship's underwater speed. By Chapter 266, however, he describes the captured Serene Water Sword as better than the Water Drop he previously had. The corpus does not state whether the reforged Water Fire Sword was sold, dismantled, given away, or simply stored. (Chapters 166–206 and 266)

Abilities and properties

• Water-element affinity: Water Drop carries abundant, calm water essence and is particularly compatible with Li Water Sword Scripture. It can deliver flowing, rain-like, and burning-water sword techniques, but the power and cost depend on Zuo Mo's ling power, comprehension, and spell setup. (Chapters 81, 87–101, and 125)
• Responsive flying-sword control: After sustained imprinting and nourishment in a ling spring, the sword moves with increasing sensitivity and can respond to Zuo Mo's fighting intent. A weak prior imprint is what allows him to seize it so quickly, demonstrating that this responsiveness is cultivated rather than an independent personality. (Chapters 82, 85, and 87)
• Technique focus: Zuo Mo uses the sword for direct attacks, cutting materials, hunting yin fiends, and channeling formation-related sword essence. It is also the model for the smooth Flowing Water motion later reproduced in the date seed ship. The imitation does not place the physical sword inside the ship. (Chapters 92, 112–117, 166–186, and 206)
• Fire-water reforging: Adding fourth-grade Crimson Fire Rock produces a visible red flame around the water sword and improves it to peak third grade. The upgrade does not overcome the grade boundary, and the corpus does not document a later fourth-grade form. (Chapters 193 and 196)
• Limits: Water Drop is a strong early weapon, not an invincible treasure. Its suitability varies by scripture; better weapons exist; high-level defenses can stop its attacks; and Zuo Mo's cultivation initially prevents him from controlling the power that a fourth- or fifth-grade reforging might produce. (Chapters 91, 99–101, and 266)
