Li Xizhi
Li Xizhi grows from a cherished child into an accomplished cultivator who represents the Li family inside the Azure Pond Sect. His Heavenly Glow arts give him speed, control and unusual ways to defend territory, but his advancement and office remain subject to stronger lineages. Marriage to Yang Xiao’er becomes a steady partnership, and the two share family responsibilities while he teaches their descendants. Even after reaching peak Foundation and gaining Sword Essence, Xizhi refuses to exchange his freedom for the sect master’s seat and continues looking for a path beyond service. (Chapters 297, 447, 625, 937, 1244, 1380, 1664)
Biography
A beloved son enters a perilous sect
Li Xizhi is the only son of Li Yuanjiao and Xiao Guiluan. His parents and extended family love him, but he grows up inside a clan whose most capable elders conceal the death of Tongya and whose future depends on outside alliances. They send Xizhi to the Azure Pond Sect while still young, both to cultivate and to build ties that may protect the family. At four, he is described as affectionate and well-behaved; the sect soon makes him learn how vulnerable a family-backed student can be when his own teacher has little influence. (Chapters 297, 316, 338)
The immortal mirror’s Profound Pearl Talisman Seed transforms three chakras he has already condensed into Supreme Yin chakras. This inheritance helps him enter sect cultivation, but it also marks him as a descendant of a sword-immortal line and draws challenges from others. By Chapter 393 he has formed Sword Aura, yet he admits that Sword Qi remains far beyond him. He learns to avoid predatory duels and rely on Yuan Tuan’s protection rather than accept fights on terms chosen by stronger disciples. (Chapters 350, 393, 415)
Yuan Tuan has limited standing in the sect, so Xizhi receives burdensome assignments and little protection against political pressure. He chooses the Heavenly Glow method Dawn Dew Gathering and, with his father’s help, obtains Dawn Colored Qi. When he reads Yuanjiao’s terse letter, he repeatedly blinks back tears; the letter seems to offer little affection, although the resources sent with it show how much his family is sacrificing. His early ambition is therefore divided: he wants to excel on his own, but understands that the family’s sacrifices have made his success a shared responsibility. (Chapters 415, 427, 430)
Marriage, spellcraft and a voice for the Li family
Xizhi’s marriage to Yang Xiao’er begins as a political arrangement between families and also gives him a closer ally within sect life. After two years, Xiao’er worries that his focus on cultivation means he has no real affection for her. Xizhi answers plainly that sharing wedding wine binds them for life and that he has no second thoughts. Her support becomes practical as well as personal: she helps supply pills and cultivation resources when he prepares for Foundation Establishment. Their marriage develops into a dependable partnership rather than remaining a negotiation between clans. (Chapters 441–447, 625)
Xizhi also works to secure the Li family a foothold in Yue State. He seeks an audience with Li Encheng and cultivates connections because he does not want the family treated as expendable fodder by the sect’s dominant houses. Through patient conversation and reliable service, he earns a voice in internal affairs instead of waiting for others to grant the Li family protection. He remains careful about favors that would make the clan dependent on a patron, even when declining them might slow his standing. (Chapters 447–479)
His Heavenly Glow practice develops into a distinct spell specialization. Dawn Imperial Movement lets him travel at exceptional speed, while Floating Light Gathering can seize another cultivator’s weapon if the opponent’s sword training and weapon are weak enough. Xizhi studies the strengths and counters of his arts rather than treating them as unbeatable. At the seventh Qi layer, he decides to postpone receiving talisman qi until Foundation Establishment, reasoning that an earlier infusion would be wasted before his foundation could make full use of it. (Chapters 479, 518, 523)
Universal Dawn Mist and a bereaved elder brother
With Xiao’er’s help, Xizhi establishes the Universal Dawn Mist Foundation. It improves his travel speed, spellcasting and ability to gather rainbow mist, which can confuse enemies, nourish spiritual energy and strengthen land. His technical knowledge gives him pride in the achievement, but it cannot protect the person he most wants to impress: Yuan Chengzhao soon tells him that his father has died with Yu Muxian. Xizhi returns to the family carrying both his advancement and the knowledge that Yuanjiao will never see it. (Chapters 624–627)
His grief does not disappear, but he learns to set it aside when younger relatives need him. He teaches Chenghuai to balance reading with practical affairs, and studies how Dawn Rayfish respond to the rainbow quality of his lineage. When a family negotiation threatens to secure an alliance by marrying off his sister Yuexiang, Xizhi opposes making her the price of that agreement. He tells her that with their father gone, he stands in his place and will ensure she is not wronged. (Chapters 627, 643, 646–647)
The family later grants Xizhi Rainbow Pierce Skyway, strengthening his Heavenly Glow cultivation and helping him survive dangerous pursuits. The gift pushes him close to mid Foundation but stops just short of the threshold. He also accepts additional duties related to Zhouwei’s future. His decisions show how filial ambition has changed: he still wants to cultivate, but he now measures success by whether the next generation has choices that his own family often lacked. (Chapters 647–648)
A watched escape from sect factionalism
The Eastern Sea missions expose Xizhi to conflicts he cannot solve by spellcraft alone. He notices irregularities in a reassignment and suspects that sect factions are using him as a piece in their struggle. When Dongfang Heyun attacks, Xizhi relies on Heavenly Glow movement, illusion and help from allies to escape. He uses a clone wearing his tracked robe to misdirect pursuit, while Rainbow Pierce Skyway disperses invasive mana that had kept his severed arm from reattaching. Its golden protection and talisman qi solve different problems: one prevents obliteration, the other counters the wound’s foreign mana, while the robe itself remains traceable. (Chapters 648–658, 684–688)
Xizhi does not defeat every pursuer or gain full independence from sect politics. He survives because he recognizes that the observer has an advantage, uses deception and accepts refuge and support from Qinghong, Xiao’er and outside contacts. His teacher’s lineage is being dismantled around him, leaving him with fewer institutional protections. He responds by choosing his alliances more carefully, understanding that pretending to be beyond surveillance would be more dangerous than acknowledging its limits. (Chapters 691–720)
His cultivation reaches mid Foundation by Chapter 691, and Xiao’er crosses the Eastern Sea to find him while he recovers and gathers Heavenly Glow at Xia Mountain. Their reunion reinforces the personal partnership that sustains him through years of remote assignments. Still, she is the one who recognizes that the surrounding sea is retreating and warns him of another crisis before he can settle into safety. (Chapters 691, 718–720)
The northern campaign and costly survival
Sect duty sends Xizhi into the northern campaign as his cultivation approaches late Foundation. By Chapter 768 he consumes a Talisman Pill amid favorable flows of Heavenly Glow and advances. He refines the Xia You fan and uses his spells to restrict Tuoba Chongyuan, but the enemy’s strength makes every apparent opening temporary. Xizhi continues to attack and coordinate with uneasy companions, knowing that retreat is not always available to a cultivator caught in a larger battle. (Chapters 726–768)
To keep fighting, Xizhi takes Autumn Convergence Pills that burn his lifespan. He sustains severe injuries and must rely on Li Quantao’s intervention to escape; the pills let him endure the crisis at a cost, not heal him or make him invulnerable. As the campaign continues, Xizhi recognizes that Tang Shedu’s attitude shifts when Tu Longjian’s power changes the consequences of open hostility. Political leverage, rather than a clean victory, becomes part of how the survivors get home. (Chapters 771–800, 810–823)
When the family reunites, Xizhi’s attention turns quickly to those still missing. He asks where Yuexiang is and cannot dismiss Ximing’s slim hope that she may yet be saved. He is glad the survivors returned, but the campaign has taught him that even successful escape leaves grief and obligations behind. His leadership is less about appearing fearless than about continuing to act while uncertain whether every relative can be recovered. (Chapters 828–830)
Changtian Peak, persecution and a changed balance of power
After the northern defeat, Xizhi is described as the master of Azure Pond Peak. He later describes Changtian Peak as compensation for the contested Qingsui Peak assignment, which had belonged to the Yuan family; he must then govern new disciples and dependents there. He brings Quan Yi’s sick mother onto the peak and makes room for followers whose survival would otherwise depend on a patron’s favor. These offices give him resources and a public position, but do not free him from the Chi family’s factional struggles. (Chapters 883–901, 1042)
As the Chi factions continue to threaten him, Xizhi survives through Heavenly Glow deceptions, allies and careful timing. He tells Yuanqin that accepting the Qingsui Peak master’s role made him a pawn of the Chi family, warning that a faction will use a subordinate and then discard him when power shifts. The warning comes from experience: Xizhi can understand a political trap and still find that duties and titles limit his ability to walk away from it. (Chapters 1003–1027)
Ximing’s Purple Mansion breakthrough changes what enemies can impose on the Li family, but does not release Xizhi from his own obligations. Xizhi admits that Azure Pond will not let him act freely while he remains the master of its peak. He has reached peak Foundation by Chapter 937 and expanded his spells, yet still serves a lineage whose advanced path is guarded. His strength gives the Li family leverage; it does not make him the master of the institutions around him. (Chapters 937, 1041–1042)
Stone Pond and the limits of a celebrated protector
Xizhi’s spell reputation grows as he governs Northern Dan’s Stone Pond and studies the sect’s collections. He knows that spell arts can be countered by specialized artifacts, so he works to develop a sword method that can protect him when opponents bypass his glow. Yuanxiu’s hidden interventions support some public stories of success, however. When Yuanxiu dies, Xizhi realizes that years of effort to preserve Stone Pond may not survive the change in patronage and political settlement. (Chapters 1128, 1244, 1299)
With the Five-Colored Boundless Sword Art, Xizhi makes new progress in sword cultivation and attains Sword Essence. He combines the technique with Threefold Moonlight, producing six streams of sword light, and uses Autumn Moon’s Harmonious Echo against Zhuzhen, a Maha. The strike inflicts pain and forces the golden palm to release him, but it does not defeat Zhuzhen; the formation and collective defense keep the surrounding cultivators alive. Xizhi’s real achievement is making a previously stalled skill relevant against a superior opponent, not winning a fight alone. (Chapters 1244, 1300–1301)
Stone Pond’s defense also deepens his partnership with Xiao’er. She knows when he hesitates because of the political consequences of attacking religious cultivators, and he trusts her assessment when she judges a response necessary. Their coordination buys time, but neither spell expertise nor sword mastery can guarantee that a territory remains theirs after the stronger houses divide influence. Xizhi has become a celebrated protector and still learns that skill cannot substitute for institutional power. (Chapters 1299–1301, 1384)
Seeking a path beyond service
When offered the Azure Pond Sect master’s position, Xizhi declines and recommends Si Tongyi. He sees that his lineage and lack of a Purple Mansion cultivation technique would leave him constantly carrying out service for stronger houses. He wants a chance to cultivate without being kept as a convenient political piece. He also shares his accumulated learning with Ximing, including the Merging and Dividing Art of Majestic Glows, which he refined from the Glazed Pagoda’s inheritance to transform Heavenly Glow into Majestic Earth. The art is a useful possibility, not proof that Xizhi himself can reach Purple Mansion. (Chapters 1380, 1384–1385)
Xizhi continues to study and teach. He searches for clues at Xia Mountain, shares the meaning of the pagoda’s hidden spirit item with Ximing, and arranges opportunities for his descendants. He lives with Xiao’er and teaches the younger generation, warning that plentiful resources cannot guarantee Zhouluo a divine ability. (Chapters 1385, 1663–1664)
Xizhi remains at peak Foundation cultivation, with major spell mastery and Sword Essence but no Purple Mansion breakthrough. He declines the sect-master’s office to pursue an independent cultivation path. As a husband, teacher and family elder, he tries to leave the next generation more freedom than he had. (Chapters 1380, 1385, 1663–1664)
Appearance and personality
Xizhi is a handsome, composed cultivator whose public manner remains courteous even when he is calculating a threat. His clothes often bear the glow and color of his Heavenly Glow lineage. He can appear formal or restrained, especially around Xiao’er early in their marriage, but his private promises are sincere and his affection becomes steady over time. (Chapters 447, 625, 718)
He is patient, politically alert and careful about costs. He avoids challenges he cannot win, learns the limitations of his spells, and recognizes when a title or alliance serves another family’s interests. His care for relatives appears in concrete decisions—refusing to marry off Yuexiang, making room for Quan Yi’s mother, and teaching descendants—while his restraint in battle reflects concern about consequences as much as fear. (Chapters 393, 647, 901, 1027, 1301)
Abilities and cultivation
Dawn Dew Gathering and Universal Dawn Mist
Yuan Tuan secures Dawn Dew Gathering, a Grade Four Heavenly Glow method, and Xizhi’s family helps obtain Dawn Colored Qi. The lineage combines light, mist and water. Its Universal Dawn Mist Foundation supports rapid movement and spellcasting, gathers rainbow mist that confuses enemies, and can strengthen land and nurture spiritual qi. Dawn Rayfish are drawn to its rainbow quality. These effects let Xizhi travel quickly, evade pursuit and support cultivation on the land he governs, but his glowing techniques can be conspicuous and the lineage lacks a usable Purple Mansion continuation. (Chapters 415, 427, 479, 625–627, 1385)
Rainbow Pierce Skyway and survival
Rainbow Pierce Skyway adds talisman qi to the Heavenly Glow path. It can dissolve other mana and continuously nurture vitality and spell arts. In the pursuit by Dongfang Heyun, it disperses foreign mana so Xizhi can reattach his severed arm; a golden robe’s protection had separately prevented his body from being destroyed. Xizhi uses a clone wearing the tracked robe to divert the pursuer, because Rainbow Pierce does not remove the robe’s tracking link. Its protection is substantial, but it cannot cancel a superior cultivator’s attacks or grant safe passage without deception and allies. (Chapters 647–658, 684–688, 937)
Heavenly Glow spell arts
The Dawn Dew Gathering lineage gives Xizhi six spells and three secret arts. Dawn Imperial Movement provides fast escape and travel; Floating Light Gathering can seize an enemy’s weapon, but its effect depends on the other cultivator’s sword mastery and the weapon’s quality. It struggles against Sword Essence or Foundation-grade swords. Xizhi also uses rainbow light to restrain opponents, produce misleading bodies, confuse pursuers and create multicolored attacks. The hand seals and artifacts required by individual arts give opponents ways to interrupt or counter them. (Chapters 479, 510, 518, 696, 1004, 1244)
Five-Colored Boundless Sword Art
Xizhi’s early record distinguishes Sword Aura from Sword Qi: by Chapter 393, he has aura but says he remains far from Qi. His later sword progress is stalled until he studies Five-Colored Boundless Sword Art. By Chapter 1244 he has gained Sword Essence and combines the art with Threefold Moonlight to create six streams of sword light. Autumn Moon’s Harmonious Echo is a powerful attack that can hurt even a Maha, though the strike does not overcome Zhuzhen or the larger gulf in their realms. Xizhi’s own Sword Intent and Purple Mansion advancement remain unestablished. (Chapters 393, 1244, 1301)
Scholarship, leadership and teaching
Xizhi reads extensively in the sect’s Dao collections, studies how lineages and factions use their members, and turns his experience into advice for the younger generation. His strongest decisions often depend on timing and incentives: he plans against surveillance, weighs political obligations, and teaches descendants to combine study with practical work. These skills make him a capable peak master and family strategist, but access to the sect’s innermost collections and protected lineages remains limited. (Chapters 479, 643, 901, 1027, 1385, 1664)
