Profound Pearl Talisman Seeds
The Profound Pearl Talisman Seeds are white spiritual pellets created through the Immortal Mirror. They permit otherwise mortal recipients to cultivate and link their cultivation, souls, and fate to Lu Jiangxian. Their limited capacity makes allocation consequential, while their spiritual connections distinguish them from the expendable Talisman Pill.
History
Reception and the founding cultivators
The mirror reveals a sacrificial and reception method to the Li household. Its first capacity is six seeds, and the brothers' reception halos indicate differing compatibility. Lu then condenses a seed for Chejing, which enters through the top of his head and brings him into cultivation. The process opens a path otherwise barred by the family's lack of natural spiritual orifices, but does not make every recipient equally talented or equally suited to the same future. (Chapters 8–12)
The family's descendants continue receiving selected seeds as cultivation becomes an inherited responsibility. Chejing's returning seed and the recovery of mirror structure increase capacity to nine; the jade buckle later adds three more. Lu sometimes conceals such increases until the family can understand them through a plausible cultivation event. The decision to favor particular descendants is therefore both a resource choice and a way of protecting the benefactor's hidden identity. (Chapters 130, 138, 217, and 617)
Souls, survival, and service within the mirror
The bond can outlast the failure of an ordinary body. Xijun's seed retains his soul, while Lu explains that a seed occupies more than the qihai location its bearer normally perceives: it also reaches the Shenyang and Juque centers. External spiritual sense does not simply reveal an ordinary physical pellet in those structures. This concealed continuity matters to the difference between bodily death and the fate of a connected soul. (Chapters 932–933)
Human Pill life-contract effects can also interfere with the connection. In Xuanfeng's case, Lu acts to prevent the seed's departure rather than relying on an automatic immunity to every threat. Later, seeds become tools of the mirror's interior realm: recovered blossoms yield pellets, four available seeds are placed in the Registering Name Stone as relays, and Ximing's connection supplies a body during entry. A seed carried by a peacock soul also lets the sentient sword vessel evade calculation and return to the mirror. Those uses extend the system beyond ordinary allocation to living Li descendants. (Chapters 783–784, 968–969, 1404–1405, and 1461)
Abilities and properties
Cultivation and feedback
A seed enables a person without a natural spiritual orifice to cultivate, or assists a recipient who already possesses one. Reception compatibility affects the resulting progress. The connected cultivator's achievements provide feedback to the mirror, and the seed can return with cultivation and experience after death. The system benefits both sides without removing differences in talent, available methods, or the dangers faced by the bearer. (Chapters 8–12, 130, and 616)
Seeds calm the mind and protect against forms of divine interference and calculation. Lu can follow or act through their connections, but grave threats still demand his intervention. The bond is not an unconditional promise of bodily immortality, and its effects do not confer every art the mirror can operate on the recipient. (Chapters 403, 783–784, and 933)
Finite capacity and spirit custody
Capacity rises from six to nine and then twelve through restoration and feedback. A bearer’s visible sense of a white seed within the qihai is only part of the structure; it also has connections within the Shenyang and Juque. Seed-backed spirit custody and relays give the mirror access to forms of travel, restoration, and summoning that are not ordinary medicinal effects. Its master can reserve pellets for those purposes instead of distributing every one to the clan. (Chapters 8, 130, 617, 933, and 1404)
Ownership and custody
| Holder or custodian | Relationship to the item |
|---|---|
| Lu Jiangxian | Creates, allocates, recalls, and operates the finite seeds through the mirror. |
| Li seed bearers | Receive enduring cultivation and spiritual connections; their bodies, souls, and experience can participate in the bond. |
| Li Chejing | First depicted recipient; his returning seed later contributes to mirror restoration. |
| Li Xijun | His seed retains his soul after bodily catastrophe. |
| Mirror-world relays and spirit vessels | Seeds support the Registering Name Stone and particular conscious vessels; resident people and spirits remain distinct from the pellets. |
