Fang Yuan
Fang Yuan, publicly titled Heaven Refining Demon Venerable and Great Love Immortal Venerable, is a rank-nine refinement-path venerable pursuing eternal life. Reborn into his youth with Spring Autumn Cicada, he advances from a C-grade Gu Master to master of the sovereign immortal aperture, destroys Fate Gu through a multi-venerable arrangement, and enters the final era as one of three active venerables.
Biography
Rebirth on Qing Mao Mountain
After five centuries of struggle, the rank-six demonic immortal Fang Yuan detonates Spring Autumn Cicada while surrounded by enemies. Its power sends his will upstream to the body of his fifteen-year-old self, shortly before Gu Yue Village's awakening ceremony. He accepts the apparent loss of five centuries of cultivation because memory, experience, and another chance at eternal life are worth more to him than any temporary rank. (Chapters 1–3 and 373)
The ceremony gives him only C-grade aptitude, while his twin Fang Zheng receives A grade and becomes the clan's favored heir. Fang Yuan responds by extracting value from every accessible system: he coerces classmates for primeval stones, uncovers Flower Wine Monk's inheritance, uses liquor worms to improve essence quality, and conceals advances until disclosure is profitable. Family regard and clan law never become ends in themselves; he complies, intimidates, or defects according to the same calculation of benefit. (Chapters 4–46 and 63–81)
Wolf tides and the clan's ancestral schemes destroy the structure around him. Fang Yuan exploits the crisis, clashes repeatedly with Bai Ning Bing, and turns First Gen Gu Yue's blood-path plan against its participants. He escapes the ruin of Qing Mao Mountain with rank-three cultivation and Bai Ning Bing as an unstable travelling partner, leaving Fang Zheng and the clan future behind. (Chapters 176–199)
Southern Border schemes and Hu Immortal blessed land
Fang Yuan crosses Southern Border under changing identities, initially depending on Bai Ning Bing's Yang Gu while both partners anticipate betrayal. In Shang clan city he fights for resources, recruits useful contacts, and refines a strength-path system around beast phantoms. Shang Xin Ci's trust and Bai Ning Bing's hostility demonstrate opposite limits of personal attachment: kindness does not bind him, but mutual leverage can preserve cooperation. (Chapters 200–310)
At Three Kings blessed land he turns repeated risks into a plan for second aperture Gu, only for Bai Ning Bing and Tie clan to trap him at the end. Fang Yuan uses Spring Autumn Cicada again rather than accept capture. With foreknowledge from the failed course, he changes the refinement sequence, takes Fixed Immortal Travel, and escapes the collapsing blessed land. (Chapters 311–405)
Fixed Immortal Travel lets him seize Hu Immortal blessed land from the Central Continent disciples competing on Dang Hun Mountain. The victory supplies an immortal base, a land spirit, and guts Gu for soul cultivation while Fang Yuan remains a mortal Gu Master. It also enlarges the scale of his enemies: Immortal Crane Sect can threaten the blessed land even when it cannot simply take the recognized inheritance from him. (Chapters 399–420)
Chang Shan Yin and the immortal-zombie impasse
Needing Northern Plains opportunities, Fang Yuan enters the region disguised as the dead enslavement-path hero Chang Shan Yin. He builds wolf armies, manipulates tribal wars, and joins Hei Lou Lan's coalition for the Imperial Court contest. The identity gives him reputation and command without requiring loyalty to the people who remember the original Wolf King. (Chapters 406–552)
Inside Imperial Court blessed land, he turns from coalition subordinate to challenger of Giant Sun's will. Tai Bai Yun Sheng becomes an immortal ally, Hei Lou Lan's hidden physique and ambitions produce a more complicated bargain, and Ma Hong Yun's extraordinary luck repeatedly disrupts orderly calculation. Fang Yuan persists through the collapse of Eighty-Eight True Yang Building and forces an immortal ascension under catastrophic conditions. (Chapters 553–649)
He survives by becoming a strength-path immortal zombie. The body grants immortal combat power and avoids immediate death, but its dead aperture produces no immortal essence and cannot advance through ordinary tribulations. Fang Yuan leaves Northern Plains as a Gu Immortal whose greatest problem is no longer reaching immortality but escaping an immortal form that has stopped developing. (Chapters 649–735)
Zombie alliances and the sovereign immortal body
The immortal-zombie period forces Fang Yuan to obtain essence, Gu, and deductions through external exchange. He deals with Zombie Alliance, auctions Northern Plains captives, bargains with Lang Ya land spirit, and uses Wisdom Gu's light to improve recipes and killer moves while the zombie body's lack of lifespan expenditure lets him approach it safely. Myriad self combines strength and enslavement principles into a scalable signature method. (Chapters 650–837)
Restoring a living body entangles him with Shadow Sect and Heaven's Will. He explores dream realms, contests inheritances across regions, and discovers that Spring Autumn Cicada's successes were not wholly independent of larger arrangements. At Yi Tian Mountain, repeated rebirth and revised planning bring him into the refinement of Sovereign Immortal Fetus Gu prepared for Spectral Soul. (Chapters 838–1019)
Fang Yuan seizes the finished Gu at the decisive instant and transfers his soul into the sovereign immortal body. Its vast aperture and non-conflicting dao marks allow paths that would normally interfere to coexist, ending the zombie impasse. The gain is not freedom from maintenance: the body must be fed, calamities threaten an enormous internal world, and advancement increasingly depends on annexing apertures and managing resources at a scale no ordinary immortal could sustain. Sovereign immortal fugitive and the destruction of fate
Heavenly Court, Southern Border, and Shadow Sect remnants pursue the thief of the sovereign body. Fang Yuan travels under names including Liu Guan Yi, Wu Yi Hai, and Suan Bu Jin, annexing blessed lands and collecting attainment from dream realms. In Reverse Flow River he refines perseverance into Reverse Flow Protection Seal, a defensive method that reflects attacks but requires him to keep bearing the river's burden. (Chapters 1024–1285)
After inheriting Purple Mountain True Monarch's position, Fang Yuan takes command of Shadow Sect's remaining members rather than merely fleeing them. Former enemies such as Bai Ning Bing, Hei Lou Lan, and Ying Wu Xie become controlled collaborators. He develops split-soul clones, raises his cultivation, raids the River of Time, and reaches rank eight while Heavenly Court uses Fairy Zi Wei, Duke Long, and even Fang Zheng's blood connection to hunt him. The Fate War makes his private conflict with Heaven's Will into an attack on the world's fixed future. Fang Yuan enters Heavenly Court's battlefield with multiple inheritances and allies, while Red Lotus's human-path arrangement distributes the final act beyond any single killer move. Fate Gu is destroyed rather than taken intact, breaking the constraint that had made complete freedom impossible and opening the way for dead venerables' plans to return. (Chapters 1884–1968)
Heaven Refining Demon Venerable
Fate's destruction does not give Fang Yuan a secure victory. Spectral Soul pursues the sovereign body, the aperture's resources suffer, and the venerables' surviving arrangements converge on Crazed Demon Cave. Fang Yuan abandons assets when necessary, conceals his true foundation, and lets stronger enemies believe exhaustion has reduced his options while he continues refining the sovereign body's dao marks and preparing a decisive breakthrough. In Crazed Demon Cave he competes with the revived Giant Sun Immortal Venerable and Star Constellation Immortal Venerable, as well as Limitless's final arrangement. He gains refinement-path supreme grandmaster attainment and advances to rank nine, becoming Heaven Refining Demon Venerable. As a refinement-path Dao Lord he can refine natural dao marks and turn the world's environment into part of his strategic domain. (Chapters 2185–2211)
Fang Yuan then adopts the public title Great Love Immortal Venerable and establishes the Heaven and Earth Great Love Alliance around paid refinement and access to his aperture. The language of universal benefit attracts clients and isolates enemies without changing his ultimate standard. He refines rank-nine Gu, manages clone operations, and balances temporary cooperation against both rival venerables while conserving immortal essence and concealing trump cards. (Chapters 2212–2334)
Appearance and personality
Fang Yuan begins his second life as a slender fifteen-year-old with black hair, pale skin, and dark eyes whose calm does not match his apparent age. His resemblance to Fang Zheng makes their sharply different expressions more noticeable. Later disguises alter age, build, features, and aura so completely that identities such as Chang Shan Yin and Wu Yi Hai can function inside societies with their own memories and expectations. The sovereign immortal body is exceptionally handsome and physically harmonious, but Fang Yuan treats that beauty as another property rather than an identity. He is patient, shameless when reputation has no value, and capable of extreme endurance. He experiences emotion and understands attachment, yet refuses to let either overrule the pursuit of eternal life; apparent generosity, cruelty, loyalty, and betrayal are all possible when circumstances make them useful. Abilities and cultivation
Sovereign immortal aperture and non-conflicting dao marks
The sovereign body possesses an immense immortal aperture and dao marks from different paths that do not ordinarily conflict. Fang Yuan can therefore cultivate, annex, and combine methods across paths with far less interference than a normal immortal. The advantage creates matching burdens: the aperture contains populations and ecosystems needing constant management, calamities scale with its foundation, and the sovereign body periodically requires feeding on high-rank apertures. Refinement-path Dao Lord
At rank nine and refinement-path supreme grandmaster, Fang Yuan is a refinement-path Dao Lord. He can refine natural refinement-path dao marks, mass-produce Immortal Gu with an unmatched success rate, repair subordinates' losses, and construct rank-nine resources that shift the balance between venerables. Refinement still requires recipes, materials, immortal essence, time, and secrecy; failed information or an enemy's interference can make superior technique economically useless. Spring Autumn Cicada and rebirth
Spring Autumn Cicada carries a will upstream through the River of Time after self-detonation. Rebirth provides knowledge rather than guaranteed victory: the Cicada can fail, its growing pressure endangers a mortal aperture, altered choices make old information obsolete, and Heaven's Will can influence the result while Fate Gu exists. Each use also worsens the user's luck, making it a last resort rather than cost-free foresight. (Chapters 1, 397–405, 647–649, and 1748–1750)
Wisdom, attainment, and deductions
Fang Yuan uses Wisdom Gu's light, wisdom-path Gu, dream realms, true meaning, and inheritances to deduce recipes and killer moves across many paths. His sovereign body's breadth and clones' shared attainment let one specialist's gains support the whole force. Deductions remain constrained by the information supplied: concealed variables, unknown killer moves, and misleading heavenly secrets can produce a precise answer to the wrong model. Myriad self and Reverse Flow Protection Seal
Myriad self merges strength-path phantoms with enslavement-style control, creating huge numbers of extensions that can attack, disguise the true body, or support later transformations. Reverse Flow Protection Seal wraps Fang Yuan in Reverse Flow River's power and sends hostile effects back toward their source. The seal depends on maintaining the river and the user's perseverance; complex attacks, resource pressure, and new countermeasures can still force him to revise it. (Chapters 662–667 and 1285–1290)
Souls, dream realms, and clones
Training through Dang Hun Mountain and Luo Po Valley strengthens and tempers Fang Yuan's soul. Split-soul methods create bodies such as Wu Shuai, Qi Sea Ancestor, and specialized dream-path or transformation-path clones, allowing simultaneous cultivation and public identities. Separate bodies still need apertures, essence, souls, and equipment, and soul-path damage or capture can isolate a powerful clone. (Chapters 405–420, 1374, 1803–1804, 2030, and 2316–2334)
Venerable combat and current limits
As a rank-nine venerable, Fang Yuan combines methods from many paths, rank-nine Immortal Gu, natural dao-mark amplification, and a sovereign aperture capable of supplying armies. His strongest advantage is uncertainty: rivals cannot easily know which path, Gu, clone, or formation will carry the next attack. He is not inexhaustible. Rank-nine Gu consume immense essence, venerable-level apertures and Gu require feeding, and fighting inside another Dao Lord's refined territory reduces his environmental advantage.
