Purple Mountain True Monarch

Purple Mountain True Monarch is a first-generation split soul of Spectral Soul and the wisdom-path leader of early Shadow Sect. The name first enters Fang Yuan's schemes as a master he invents to deceive Tai Bai Yun Sheng, long before the real Purple emerges as a half-mad rank eight. Purple's attempt to infiltrate heaven's will gives Shadow Sect exceptional intelligence at the cost of recurring insanity and, ultimately, partial assimilation. He dies opposing Duke Long after transferring Shadow Sect's remaining hope and authority to Fang Yuan. (Chapters 615, 651, 1334, and 1371–1372)

Biography

First-generation split soul against heaven's will

Purple is one of the first seven split souls created after Spectral Soul establishes Shadow Sect. Carrying part of the main body's cultivation experience, he becomes the first wisdom-path great grandmaster among that generation and leads its attempt to understand the enemy killing the split souls one by one. He derives a dangerous answer from part of Star Constellation Immortal Venerable's inheritance: instead of merely hiding from heaven's will, he will partially assimilate with it and read its plans from within. Assimilation lets Purple identify heaven's will's important pawns and reduce its immediate intent to kill him. During mad periods he moves close to those people; after regaining reason, he tries to redirect them toward Shadow Sect. Tai Bai Yun Sheng becomes one such contested pawn. The price is severe: every contact makes Purple lose reason and risks his complete absorption. Purple gold rock gives him a means to wake after those episodes, but cannot restore perfect independence, leaving roughly half of his hundred-thousand-year life in madness. Return to leadership and the Southern Border assault

After Shadow Sect's defeat at Yi Tian Mountain, Purple appears intermittently around the surviving faction, sleeping or raving until a lucid interval returns. At Reverse Flow River, his rank-eight presence constrains what the surrounding forces dare to do, though Ying Wu Xie must carry him while he sleeps. Once awake, Purple resumes leadership, gathers the survivors, and explains that the apparent insanity was a deliberate method whose consequences have outgrown his control. He then converts old infiltration into an assault on Southern Border's giant dream realm. Purple activates coerced inheritors and planted traitors, traps Wu Yong inside the purple blood river formation, creates the false impression that the rank-eight clan leader has died, and uses the resulting political disorder to delay reinforcements. The scheme breaches the super formation and brings Shadow Sect close to Spectral Soul's trapped main body, but it also concentrates Heavenly Court's response at the same location. Defeat by Duke Long and transfer of Shadow Sect

Duke Long overwhelms Purple with triple qi retraction, first draining the human and earth qi that maintain his aperture. Purple extracts the aperture and places it outside so it can absorb earth qi, preventing its immediate collapse, but the desperate procedure separates him from its dao marks and destroys his cultivation foundation. Even after losing the foundation behind his peak rank-eight strength, he keeps directing soul beasts and the remnants of Shadow Sect against Duke Long. (Chapters 1367–1368)

Purple finally recognizes that his long struggle has been penetrated by the very heaven's will he tried to exploit. Rather than let Shadow Sect end with him, he sends away part of his Immortal Gu and transmits the faction's inheritances and leadership to Fang Yuan, the complete otherworldly demon he judges most able to resist fate. Duke Long kills him moments later. Purple does not revive; subsequent influence comes through the arrangements, resources, and authority he transferred before death. (Chapters 1371–1372)

Appearance and personality

Purple appears as a small old man with disordered purple hair and an aura that alternates between harmless eccentricity and a rank-eight expert's pressure. Madness can leave him asleep, incoherent, or acting without recognizable purpose; lucidity restores a patient strategist capable of linking century-old preparations to immediate battlefield decisions. His final smile reflects the quality that survives both states: even after admitting failure, he refuses to stop searching for a successor to his opposition against fate. Wisdom path and great-grandmaster attainment

Purple's wisdom-path great-grandmaster attainment comes from both personal development and the cultivation experience carried as a Spectral Soul split soul. He deduces methods, reads large strategic patterns, and coordinates distant pawns and infiltrators rather than relying only on direct prophecy. His deductions remain fallible: Star Constellation created wisdom path and assimilated with heaven's will first, allowing Heavenly Court to exploit blind spots in his method. No supreme-grandmaster attainment is established before his death. (Chapters 1334 and 1371–1372)

Assimilation with heaven's will

Partial assimilation functions as intelligence gathering through contact with heaven's will. It reveals strengths, weaknesses, plans, and important pawns while also making Purple less visible as an immediate target. The exchange works both ways. Each use makes him insane, exposes his decisions to outside influence, and threatens permanent absorption. Purple gold rock can hold a trace of his consciousness until he awakens, but the method manages the damage rather than curing it; near death he accepts that heaven's will has assimilated him in return. Formations, infiltration, and command

Purple combines wisdom path with formations and human networks. His purple blood river formation traps Wu Yong, incorporates several paths, distorts the occupants' sense of elapsed time, and delays a rank-eight Immortal Gu House, though it eventually breaks under sustained attack. His longer plans use information-path agreements, inheritances, and compromised righteous cultivators to produce pressure without exposing Shadow Sect directly. These networks depend on secrecy and timing; once traitors are revealed and regional forces coordinate, their advantage collapses quickly. (Chapters 1341, 1355, and 1363–1366)

Rank-eight combat and terminal loss of foundation

At full strength Purple has peak rank-eight foundation accumulated over a hundred thousand years, enough to challenge Duke Long and crush ordinary rank eights. He uses purple thought-like manifestations, formations, soul beasts, and broad wisdom-path control while fighting. Triple qi retraction bypasses those strengths by attacking the immortal aperture's necessary qi balance. Extracting the aperture saves him from immediate rupture but removes many dao marks and ends his usable cultivation foundation; his death shortly afterward leaves no latest combat state beyond the inheritances and Gu he sends away. Spectral Soul and Ying Wu Xie

Purple exists as part of Spectral Soul's divided soul and spends his life preserving the main body's plan. Ying Wu Xie recognizes him as the senior leader capable of restoring order to the surviving Shadow Sect. Purple protects and directs that younger split soul, but his final transfer of the faction to Fang Yuan also places Ying Wu Xie's cause under the authority of a former enemy. Fang Yuan

Fang Yuan unknowingly uses Purple's real name as a fabricated master years before they meet. They later oppose each other over Shadow Sect's plan and the sovereign immortal body, yet Purple comes to see Fang Yuan's freedom from heaven's direct control as more important than their enmity. The final relationship is neither reconciliation nor trust: it is a dying strategist's wager that Fang Yuan will create the disorder fate cannot contain. (Chapters 615, 651, 1334, and 1371–1372)

Duke Long

Duke Long is the immediate instrument of Purple's defeat and the speaker who forces him to confront Star Constellation's prior mastery of assimilation. Their battle contrasts accumulated rank-eight preparation with Heavenly Court's direct countermeasures. Duke Long destroys Purple's foundation and life, but cannot prevent him from transferring Shadow Sect before the final blow. (Chapters 1367–1372)
