Shang Xin Ci

Shang Xin Ci is the illegitimate daughter of Shang Yan Fei and the later leader of Shang clan. Born without natural cultivation aptitude, she receives a force-awakened aperture and eventually reaches rank five with immortal support. Her authority rests less on battle strength than on commerce, practical benevolence, loyal subordinates, and extraordinary innate luck.

Biography

Caravan hardship and recognition by Shang Yan Fei

Raised as Zhang Xin Ci, she grows up without an acknowledged father and loses her mother before relatives force her to travel as a merchant. She remains unusually sympathetic toward mortals and servants despite being cheated and judged a poor businessman. Fang Yuan, traveling as Hei Tu, recognizes her future value and approaches the caravan as a calculated investment, while Shang Xin Ci responds to apparent help with sincere gratitude. (Chapters 235–244)

The caravan journey tests that kindness under raids, shortages, and betrayal. Shang Xin Ci accepts material loss to protect people and continues trusting Hei Tu and Bai Ning Bing, even as Fang Yuan manipulates events around her. Her gentleness does not eliminate endurance: with cultivation unavailable to her, she keeps the caravan moving through judgment, generosity, and the loyalty those choices earn. (Chapters 244–264)

At Shang Liang Mountain, Shang Yan Fei senses their shared blood and publicly acknowledges her. He gives Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing rewards for escorting her, then trades away a valuable combat Gu to obtain Man Triumphing Heaven Gu, capable of opening an aperture in a mortal without aptitude. The recognition changes Shang Xin Ci from a vulnerable illegitimate merchant into a clan leader's daughter, but it also places her inside the competition among his heirs. (Chapters 264–274 and 287)

Cultivation and the young-master contest

Man Triumphing Heaven force-awakens an aperture with only twenty-percent D-grade capacity. Over two years, Shang Yan Fei spends rare Gu and personally supervises her training until the aperture reaches fifty-nine-percent C grade. Shang Xin Ci studies cultivation seriously and advances to rank one upper stage, but her foundation remains expensive and externally improved rather than naturally exceptional. She chooses to compete for young-master status because rank and influence can protect the people around her. Fang Yuan accelerates that campaign, targeting Shang Ya Zi and helping build her faction, while Shang Xin Ci contributes trust, commercial judgment, and a reputation capable of drawing very different subordinates together. Her aspiration is not freedom for herself alone; she compares the powerless to small boats and wants enough strength to shelter others from the world's currents. (Chapters 305–320)

Victory teaches her that kindness needs organization. She recruits capable people, learns when to delegate, and accepts schemes whose ends preserve rather than exploit dependents. Fang Yuan eventually leaves Shang clan city, but the political base assembled during their partnership survives him. Shang Xin Ci's affection and gratitude remain, even though his later path becomes far more dangerous than the Hei Tu she knew. (Chapters 320–396)

Clan leadership and the smoky warm jade field

After Shang Yan Fei dies at Yi Tian Mountain, the clan immortal Shang Qing Qing selects Shang Xin Ci as the new clan leader because of her heart and magnanimity rather than high cultivation. The succession is precarious: veteran officials can reduce her to a figurehead, her birth weakens internal support, and Southern Border's upheaval creates external threats. Her heterogeneous followers nevertheless stay because personal loyalty bridges divisions that formal lineage cannot. (Chapter 1072)

At the smoky warm jade field, Shang clan's immortals raise her cultivation to rank five regardless of cost so she can lead the mortal contest. She sets a formation as bait, anticipates the other clans' response, and tries to secure the resource without turning an immortal dispute into uncontrolled mortal slaughter. Her rank improves her position, but she recognizes that mortal clan leaders remain pieces in negotiations conducted by Gu Immortals above them. (Chapters 1531–1533)

Fang Yuan's sudden arrival overwhelms the participating immortals and reveals the gulf even more starkly. Shang Xin Ci does not deny the danger, yet says she would be satisfied even if he killed her because his earlier intervention transformed her life. Fang Yuan spares the mortals, and his luck inspection finds Shang Xin Ci surrounded by an extraordinary phenomenon surpassing other major fortunate people. Her survival is partly judgment and loyalty, partly an innate advantage she cannot deliberately command. (Chapters 1536–1537)

Practical benevolence in the great era

Years of rule make Shang Xin Ci more formidable without making her cruel. During a fake-Gu crisis engineered by her siblings, she accepts advice that a lie can save victims without abandoning her broader moral goal. She corners refinement master Feng Tian Yu through confidence and a fabricated connection to Fang Yuan, recruits him, and breaks the conspiracy. Her benevolence works because she is willing to deceive or threaten when those tools prevent wider harm. (Chapters 2124–2125)

She also receives information for a Good Deeds Gu Immortal true inheritance and is identified as a refinement-path Master. Neither fact raises her beyond rank five. Instead, she manages markets, compensates fake-Gu victims, punishes the principal profiteers while sparing lesser participants, and dispatches aid to a threatened village even when advisers consider the rescue unprofitable and possibly too late. The darkening world after the sun's destruction exposes the limit of her office. Shang Xin Ci can recognize immortal materials and direct a super clan's mortal forces, but must leave immortal matters to the clan's Gu Immortals and cannot protect everyone suffering under natural and political disasters. Her latest state is therefore neither failure nor transcendence: she remains a rank-five mortal ruler whose humane decisions, strong network, refinement understanding, and immense luck keep producing effects beyond her personal combat power. Appearance and personality

Shang Xin Ci has long black hair, fine brows, clear moonlike eyes, pale skin, and a gentle, elegant bearing often compared to water or an orchid. Her dress changes from caravan green to the ceremonial robes of clan leadership, but the story repeatedly preserves the same calm, approachable beauty. (Chapters 235, 305, 1072, and 1531)

She is compassionate without remaining naive. Early trust makes her vulnerable to cheating; leadership teaches her to distinguish mercy from passivity and to use deception, coercion, commerce, or punishment in proportion to the danger. She continues to value ordinary lives even after repeated proof that stronger cultivators do not, and the frustration of insufficient power strengthens rather than erases that commitment. Abilities and cultivation

Force-awakened aperture and rank-five cultivation

Shang Xin Ci lacks natural aptitude until Man Triumphing Heaven Gu opens a D-grade aperture. Rare resources raise it to C grade, and Shang clan's immortals later push her cultivation to rank five. These interventions let her use mortal Gu and lead clan operations, but do not remove the limitations of a mortal aperture or confer immortal dao marks, essence, or lifespan. Refinement-path attainment

By chapter 2124, Shang Xin Ci is explicitly a refinement-path Master. This denotes formal comprehension rather than cultivation rank. It helps her understand fake Gu, evaluate experts such as Feng Tian Yu, and navigate refinement-related opportunities, but the story does not show her personally refining an Immortal Gu or advancing beyond Master. Commerce, administration, and recruitment

Her strongest repeatable methods are organizational. Shang Xin Ci reads markets, uses discounts and compensation to restore confidence, assigns specialists, draws former rivals into cooperation, and converts personal reputation into durable loyalty. These abilities need subordinates, clan institutions, and time; they cannot directly block an immortal attack. (Chapters 305–320, 1072, and 2124–2126)

Innate luck

Fang Yuan observes a dense, beautiful luck phenomenon around Shang Xin Ci, and Kong Sheng Tian later warns that opposing her or even harming close subordinates can consume an attacker's luck and worsen later tribulations. The effect is powerful but passive and mysterious. Shang Xin Ci does not perceive or activate it, so it protects influence and outcomes without functioning as a consciously controlled killer move. Good Deeds Gu inheritance and latest state

An unidentified elder gives Shang Xin Ci a Gu containing a Gu Immortal true inheritance centered on Good Deeds Gu. The inheritance suits her values, but receiving it is only access to a possible route; no ascension or developed immortal killer move follows. She remains a rank-five Gu Master and refinement-path Master through her latest scenes. (Chapters 2124 and 2282)

Fang Yuan

Fang Yuan first treats Shang Xin Ci as an investment and deliberately secures her gratitude, yet his escort and political help genuinely change her future. She continues to remember Hei Tu with affection and credits him for her rise even after learning his identity and notoriety. Shang Yan Fei

Shang Yan Fei acknowledges Shang Xin Ci, expends a prized Gu to awaken her aperture, and funds its improvement. His care heals much of her resentment and gives her entry into cultivation, but also places her among competing heirs. His death leaves her to convert paternal protection into independent authority. Xiao Die and her retainers

Xiao Die accompanies Shang Xin Ci from Zhang clan hardship into the clan-leader household. Zhou Quan, Wei De Xin, Xiao Yan, and later Feng Tian Yu represent the broader network drawn together by Shang Xin Ci's character and judgment. Ye Fan

Ye Fan protects and admires Shang Xin Ci, later fighting as Shang clan's external immortal seed. Shang Xin Ci cares for him and values his strength without returning the romantic certainty others attribute to them.
