Tai Bai Yun Sheng

Tai Bai Yun Sheng is a renowned Northern Plains healer whose wish to save lives is complicated by old age, guilt, and fear of death. His immortal ascension produces Man as Before and Landscape as Before, two exceptional restoration Gu that make him an indispensable partner to Fang Yuan. That trust ultimately leaves him vulnerable when Fang Yuan and Ying Wu Xie exchange bodies and loyalties become fatal.

Biography

The life-saving inheritance and Imperial Court

At fourteen, Tai Bai Yun Sheng gives water to an old beggar and is offered three inheritances in return. He chooses the one that can “surpass life and death” and help others, establishing the humane purpose that later makes him Northern Plains' most celebrated healer. Decades of wandering build a deep foundation and a reputation for saving countless people, but age changes the emotional meaning of his inheritance. Unable to find lifespan Gu and increasingly terrified of dying, he joins the Imperial Court contest and even bribes for entry into Eighty-Eight True Yang Building, conduct that embarrasses him precisely because it departs from the principles for which he is known. His fear is intensified by guilt over Gao Yang and Zhu Zai, whose deaths he cannot reverse with his mortal methods. Rewards secretly arranged by Fang Yuan give him time-path cultivation experience, but they also steer him toward the dangerous ascension Fang Yuan wants. When grief and mental collapse leave him with no bearable path backward, Tai Bai Yun Sheng shatters his aperture. He balances heaven, earth, and human qi while calamities descend, receives protection from Giant Sun's will, and forms a high-grade time-path blessed land. The breakthrough refines Man as Before and Landscape as Before into Immortal Gu, transforming his old desire to restore life and land into genuine immortal power without removing the mortal fear that drove him to take the risk. Senior brother and indispensable restorer

Fang Yuan exploits information from his previous life to present himself as Tai Bai Yun Sheng's fellow inheritor and “junior brother.” Tai Bai Yun Sheng accepts the bond sincerely. During the collapse of True Yang Building, he protects Fang Yuan, resists Giant Sun's will, and entrusts himself to plans he does not fully understand. After escaping to Hu Immortal blessed land, he remains because gratitude, kinship, and practical dependence all point in the same direction. He is talkative, cautious, and uncomfortable with confrontation, yet when Immortal Crane Sect threatens the blessed land he promises to stand with Fang Yuan to the end. (Chapters 613–658)

His restoration Gu give the alliance strategic reach that raw offense cannot replace. Tai Bai Yun Sheng repairs rivers and damaged blessed-land terrain, restores Dang Hun Mountain and Luo Po Valley, and heals allies by returning bodies or landscapes to an earlier state. He also assists in negotiations and expeditions across Northern Plains and Eastern Sea. His benevolence repeatedly shapes those encounters: he accepts feathermen as people deserving freedom and mourns even enemies or expendable allies whom harder companions dismiss. Those convictions can make him politically soft, but they also explain why Fang Yuan preserves the relationship for so long—Tai Bai Yun Sheng supplies both rare utility and the stable loyalty the alliance otherwise lacks. Deceived allegiance and death in Reverse Flow River

The body exchange at Yi Tian Mountain overturns Tai Bai Yun Sheng's loyalties without his knowledge. Ying Wu Xie occupies Fang Yuan's former body and inherits enough memories, agreements, and social position to command him. Tai Bai Yun Sheng follows the apparent “Fang Yuan” alongside Hei Lou Lan, helping Shadow Sect refine Fixed Immortal Travel, hunt soul beasts, and flee Heavenly Court. Unlike Hei Lou Lan, who recognizes more of the deception, he remains largely in the dark. His trust—once the moral center of his partnership with Fang Yuan—becomes the mechanism that transfers him into Fang Yuan's enemy camp. (Chapters 1029–1095 and 1153)

At Reverse Flow River, Tai Bai Yun Sheng sees Ying Wu Xie's group threatened by the real Fang Yuan and makes a final choice consistent with that misplaced trust. He charges alone and orders the others to escape, clinging to Fang Yuan even after his bones are broken. Fang Yuan momentarily disrupts him by invoking Imperial Court blessed land, then kills him and casts aside the corpse. The sacrifice succeeds in buying Ying Wu Xie, Hei Lou Lan, and Bai Ning Bing time, but it also completes the tragedy created at Yi Tian Mountain: Tai Bai Yun Sheng dies defending the person he believes is his junior brother from the actual man to whom he had pledged himself. Appearance and personality

Tai Bai Yun Sheng is an elderly man with snow-white hair, a white beard, and a wrinkled face. He is widely regarded as warm, righteous, and benevolent, with a healer's instinct to value lives that companions treat as strategically unimportant. He is also talkative, cautious, and conflict-averse. Old age exposes a strong fear of death, while his inability to save particular people produces lasting guilt; neither weakness erases his courage when another person's survival requires him to act. Abilities and cultivation

Time-path immortal foundation

Tai Bai Yun Sheng inherits a complete time-path lineage centered on returning living beings and landscapes to earlier conditions. His immortal ascension breaks the mortal aperture, draws in the three qi, and creates a high-grade blessed land that produces rank-six green-grape immortal essence. That essence powers his Immortal Gu and separates their effects from ordinary healing: the methods do not merely accelerate recovery but reverse a target's condition. His foundation never advances beyond rank six, and every use remains limited by immortal essence, the availability of the relevant Gu, and whether the target still falls within the move's effective condition. Man as Before

Man as Before returns a person's body toward an earlier state, allowing Tai Bai Yun Sheng to reverse severe wounds and repeatedly restore allies during dangerous expeditions. The immortal version can be used on its owner as well as others, unlike the mortal Gu around which his inheritance was first organized. It cannot indiscriminately revive the dead: Tai Bai Yun Sheng's regret over Gao Yang and Zhu Zai remains because the opportunity and condition for restoration have already passed. Its results also vary by target; later use shows Fang Yuan's non-conflicting dao marks accepting the effect more completely than ordinary immortals. (Chapters 600, 633, 687, and 1381)

Landscape as Before

Landscape as Before restores damaged terrain and environments to a former state. Tai Bai Yun Sheng uses it on rivers, blessed-land geography, Dang Hun Mountain, and Luo Po Valley, giving his alliance a way to recover strategic resources whose destruction would otherwise be permanent. The effect is restoration, not creation: it requires a landscape with a recoverable earlier condition, costs immortal essence, and does not grant Tai Bai Yun Sheng general control over earth or water. After his death, the Gu survives and continues to have value independent of its original refiner. (Chapters 666, 706, and 997)

Flight and support judgment

Tai Bai Yun Sheng is explicitly a flying master. His aerial control lets him operate during ascension, retreat across hazardous regions, and keep pace with allies despite specializing in support rather than attack. He combines that movement skill with broad experience from roaming Northern Plains and substantial knowledge of Gu inheritances. His weakness is not technical incompetence but limited aggression: against enemies who outclass him, restoration and escape are generally more effective than direct combat, and his last attempt to restrain Fang Yuan succeeds only briefly. Fang Yuan

Fang Yuan deliberately constructs a senior-junior brother relationship with Tai Bai Yun Sheng, then receives genuine loyalty in return. Tai Bai Yun Sheng protects him during True Yang Building's collapse, supports his blessed lands, and risks his life against their enemies. After the Yi Tian Mountain body exchange, that trust is redirected toward Ying Wu Xie; the real Fang Yuan eventually kills Tai Bai Yun Sheng when he refuses to abandon the apparent junior brother he is defending. Ying Wu Xie

Ying Wu Xie takes Fang Yuan's old body and social position, allowing him to command Tai Bai Yun Sheng without revealing the identity change. Tai Bai Yun Sheng becomes a useful restorer and formation participant for Shadow Sect, but the relationship is founded on deception rather than chosen allegiance. His last stand protects Ying Wu Xie's escape and makes him one of the clearest personal costs of the soul exchange. (Chapters 1029–1095, 1153, and 1279)

Hei Lou Lan

Hei Lou Lan first encounters Tai Bai Yun Sheng as a respected elder within the Imperial Court alliance and later fights beside him as Fang Yuan's ally. Both are carried into Shadow Sect by the body exchange, but Hei Lou Lan understands their predicament more clearly and sometimes withholds that knowledge. Tai Bai Yun Sheng nevertheless treats her as a companion worth healing and protecting until his death. (Chapters 563–613, 766, 1029–1153, and 1279)
