Li Quewan

Li Quewan, originally Li Shuwan, is a talented Li Family cultivator whose Whole Pill transformations and shamanic perception support the household's resources, investigations, and defenses. Her friendship with Li Jiangqian joins practical cooperation to an enduring disagreement about the importance of ordinary people's lives. After years of family service, she enters protected overseas seclusion to prepare for Purple Mansion. (Chapters 988, 1328–1329, 1557, 1730)

Biography

From Shuwan's mortal household to Qingdu

At six, Shuwan condenses spiritual qi from a basic cultivation manual in Li Baotuo's struggling mortal household. Her father sees a possible escape from financial insecurity, but also fears that immortal cultivation will take his daughter beyond the family's remaining life together. Their branch preserves Li Xiewen's line through an old adoption arranged by Li Xuanxuan. Its distant relationship to the central family has nevertheless left them vulnerable to a visiting cultivator's contempt. Shuwan sees her parents' humiliation and retreats in tears. (Chapters 969–970)

Li Qinghong intervenes when Hu Jingye begins pressing for an engagement with his son after learning how quickly the child gathered qi. Shuwan's unusual perception distinguishes the visitor's six points of light from Qinghong's violet field, without making those displayed powers her own. Her aptitude and quick comprehension bring her to the elders alongside Jiangqian. Qinghong challenges the treatment of lesser branches, while Xuanxuan's remembered obligations give her selection a familial meaning beyond simply acquiring another promising cultivator. (Chapters 970–972)

The two children receive talisman seeds, and Shuwan obtains the sixth-grade Houshu Golden Book and Profound Shamanic Spells. The inheritance is difficult despite her talent, and attempting to copy a spell produces fire and strange caterpillars, requiring the elders to secure the material. It opens a path without giving her the Purple Mansion realm of the book's grade. By the time she appears as Quewan at the lake, her clothes and complexion reflect healthier circumstances. The change in status brings opportunity, but the memory of the powerless household remains part of the judgment she carries into elite cultivation. (Chapters 972–974, 988)

A diligent cousin insists that people matter

Quewan studies diligently beside Jiangqian, whose cleverness and future leadership give him a different view of the elders' lessons. He treats declarations of virtue as lacquer adorning a palace; she argues that people living beneath the family depend on those declarations and their consequences. When a hunter has been turned into a deer, she asks what has happened to his bedridden wife. Jiangqian comes to respect her perspective and values her talent as an ally. Their affection grows through disagreement rather than requiring Quewan to adopt his more cynical explanation of power. (Chapter 988)

Her elevated position does not remove her branch's vulnerability. Her brothers' successful shipping business benefits from her reputation, provoking a commercial rival's accusation that they have abused influence for profit. Their detention frightens Baotuo and distracts Quewan during the family's great assembly. Li Minggong reassures her that the matter will be settled clearly. Later, Li Chenghuai exposes Li Dongdi's lies and secures their release. Quewan is relieved, but worries that excessively punishing those who spread the accusations could destabilize the household and turn her own favor into a source of resentment. (Chapters 1033, 1052)

Li Zhouwei places the brothers under Xuanxuan at Talisman Peak after their businesses have been ruined by the ordeal. The arrangement gives them useful work and company for the elder while shielding Quewan from continued involvement in the dispute. Zhouwei tells her to concentrate on cultivation and later gives her the Mountain Ghost Talisman for study and protection. She accepts that help without insisting that her relatives should be exempt from scrutiny. Her tact becomes a way of navigating hierarchy while preserving the concern for vulnerable people that marked her childhood. (Chapters 1052–1053)

Difficult training and responsibility for those left behind

Zhouwei builds Vermilion Bud Pavilion at a site suited to the transformations of matter that govern the Whole Pill path. Quewan adjusts her hours when the lake's intense and uneven Bright Yang makes cultivation more suitable at night. Profound Shamanic Spells demand much more: even after devoting most of her time to them, she has only begun to understand the inheritance. Jiangqian encourages useful transformation arts for self-preservation, letting her develop practical abilities while the deeper scripture remains beyond her current realm. (Chapters 1033, 1052, 1116)

At the seventh Qi Cultivation layer she is already a family mainstay, yet her work includes needs that do not advance her own realm. She assists relatives by altering a material into the gathering-qi resource required for a Metal Virtue method. Xuanxuan's account of departed friends and false politeness also makes her confront the loneliness of an elder whom younger cultivators can neglect while pursuing their futures. Her growing competence creates real obligations: helping the household and its remaining protectors consumes time that could otherwise go to cultivation. (Chapters 1116–1117, 1188)

The return of Li Queyi and Li Quexi gives her another opportunity to apply that care. She recognizes that Quexi's favor in Purple Smoke Gate depends partly on a Daoist Master's relationships, while Queyi has not enjoyed the same circumstances. Quewan urges continued kindness regardless of whether a future powerful cultivator will repay it. She also cautions Ding Weizeng over the danger of seeking Ximing. Such decisions join affection to an understanding of patronage and risk; a valuable sect opportunity is neither wholly earned by the child nor sufficient protection from every danger surrounding its elders. (Chapters 1190–1191)

Divine Singular Attunement and the investigator's limits

Quewan enters preparatory seclusion and later returns with the Whole Pill foundation Divine Singular Attunement. She describes its pursuit of longevity through gathered radiance, golden mercury, and transformations of the world's essences. Its vulnerabilities to Converging Water, Merging Fire, and Origin Thunder remain important even after she completes Foundation Establishment. She also masters Scattered White Falling Feathers, but refuses Jiangqian's request for a demonstration because using the escape spell would seriously harm her vital essence and cultivation. Advancement broadens her options without making them free of cost. (Chapters 1229, 1328, 1341)

An inherited mercury artifact provides useful support for spells, spiritual sense, and Whole Pill transformation within the dantian. Quewan identifies the Translucent Bloodsilver Technique contained in it as an ancient devil art that feeds on blood qi. She distinguishes usable functions of the object from adoption of that cultivation. Her examination makes the inheritance legible to Jiangqian while preserving the family's choice over what to use. Possession of a treasure with a dangerous internal method does not require her to make that method her own Dao. (Chapter 1328)

The investigation of Li Zhouluo's fate exposes a different limit. Quewan proposes using a descendant's blood, warning that it can confuse the ancestor's history with events in the direct lineage. Nine matching token results point toward Eastern Fire vengeance and, in her interpretation, against direct Purple Mansion divine-ability involvement. Jiangqian remains concerned about the danger of calculating a stronger cultivator. Her talisman protection and indirect method make the inquiry possible, but she keeps the uncertainty attached to the blood link rather than presenting the result as unrestricted knowledge of the dead. (Chapters 1328–1329)

Guarding the lake while the elders fight

As the family's defenses and holdings expand, Quewan becomes responsible for work between major battles. She reports how the grand formation has shifted spirit and earth veins, requiring new measurements and a redesigned palace layout. Li Ximing asks her to investigate Golden Tang descendants and guard the sealed formation while maintaining the cover of his recovery seclusion. Her own cultivation continues, but administration and sensitive access become part of her daily role. The household relies on her ability to preserve a functioning refuge while its strongest cultivators act elsewhere. (Chapters 1359, 1389, 1401, 1417)

A request from Fei Chingyi to cross the river tests that responsibility. Quewan's unease matters because Divine Singular Attunement includes an instinct to evade death, even though the family's immortal-artifact inquiry finds no direct anomaly. She and Li Jianglong do not treat a negative finding as proof of safety. Waiting for reliable information avoids making a dangerous intervention solely on the report's terms. Her instinct contributes caution without identifying the entire scheme or becoming an infallible forecast. (Chapter 1437)

The betrayal's aftermath shows how far her decisions can depart from youthful gentleness. Quewan recommends exterminating three generations of the traitor's line, while distinguishing that punishment from destroying the entire Fei clan and recognizing that Fei Qingyi lies beyond their reach. Her concern for the family's safety coexists with an endorsement of lethal collective punishment. Meanwhile, rumors about her low birth make even speaking in later sensitive discussions risky. Greater authority has neither removed her vulnerable social position nor preserved a simple consistency between childhood compassion and every security decision. (Chapters 1442, 1452)

A life saved at the cost of blood

Quewan's material expertise helps the family gather different Pure Essence resources through related transformations, and her stewardship turns purchases into a matter of strategy. She recommends quietly acquiring Wall-Sinking Water from multiple markets to prevent suppliers raising prices. Her cooperation with Xia Shouyu also shapes access to qi-gathering resources and the prospects of lesser families. This authority makes her useful but politically consequential: controlling materials affects people as well as stock, while the demands of warfare keep increasing the household's needs. (Chapters 1472, 1485, 1510)

When Pristine Water devastates the battlefield, ordinary perception cannot locate the scattered survivors. Quewan rushes into the remnants, expends mana and blood, and secretly uses the immortal artifact to find her kin. She discovers Li Zhouda's severed head and feeds it the Wanlin Blossom and other resources without regard for cost. Medicine alone cannot restore him; her immediate purpose is to keep him alive long enough for a divine ability to intervene. Her steady handling of materials persists even as her face pales and she coughs blood. (Chapters 1534–1535)

Zhouwei arrives and reconstructs Zhouda's body, making the distinction between Quewan's sustaining work and the final rescue explicit. She urges the search for others and later reports that the calculation was difficult but her lifespan loss limited. The horror of the slaughter and the uncertainty surrounding its public attribution reinforce the danger she faces as a Foundation cultivator serving among stronger powers. Further reports and the elders' insistence that preserving a Purple guardian is essential to the bloodline connect the costly rescue to a larger purpose: the family's continued existence requires both immediate sacrifice and preparation for future strength. (Chapters 1535, 1541, 1552)

Protected seclusion and the return on patient study

Ximing and Zhouwei send Quewan overseas to cultivate without the household burdens that have consumed her time. She worries about transferring those duties to her relatives, but the arrangement invests in another future protector for the clan. Before leaving, her combined shamanic perception and Whole Pill foundation help detect subtle changes around the Wilderness that ordinary Foundation senses would miss. Her warning preserves the usefulness of her investigative work even as she relinquishes direct administration and enters the next phase of training. (Chapter 1557)

She is reported at late Foundation after reaching the Eastern Sea. Her presence initially includes supervising Li Jiangnian's arts, but her own seclusion eventually frees him from that discipline. Quewan sends regular private letters home and masters three of the Golden Book of Singular Attunement's five secret techniques. The years spent on difficult shamanic visualization now make subsequent comprehension much faster. By the time she works on Seated Radiance, patience has become an accumulated advantage rather than merely evidence of slower early progress. (Chapters 1562, 1717, 1727, 1730)

On Lulai Island, Liu Changdie protects her at Ximing's explicit request and comes to admire her Dao conduct. She emerges punctually for family letters, troubled that Zhouwei's enfeoffment as King of Wei creates dangers she cannot yet help address. Changdie shows her the newly unsealed Wondrous Scroll of Divided Spirit and Variant Body, and she studies it with hope that its preservation arts may benefit the family's Daoist Master. Seated Radiance remains underway, and Purple Mansion remains her goal. The estimated time for another technique and the scroll's conditional reincarnation applications are prospects, rather than completed advancements. (Chapter 1730)

Appearance and personality

After returning to the lake as Quewan, she wears brighter clothes and has a healthier complexion, with bright eyes and a small peach-blossom hairpin. During later cultivation a silver-white pendant accompanies her. At Lulai she appears in white, with gently curved slender brows, almond-shaped eyes, and multicolored radiance held between her hands and returning to the Shenyang Mansion. These manifestations accompany Foundation cultivation and secret-technique practice rather than proving Purple attainment. (Chapters 988, 1116, 1730)

Quewan is courteous, diligent, patient, and attentive to the circumstances of people whom hierarchy can overlook. Her early argument with Jiangqian insists that lived consequences matter, while her concern for the falsely accused brothers and unequally favored younger women keeps that belief practical. Yet family security can draw her into ruthlessness, as her recommendation concerning Fei Chingyi's descendants shows. The contrast belongs to her actual choices: gentle manners and self-sacrifice do not remove the moral severity of the authority she exercises. (Chapters 988, 1052, 1190–1191, 1442, 1534)

Abilities and cultivation

Quewan combines the Whole Pill foundation Divine Singular Attunement with prolonged study of Profound Shamanic Spells. Material transformation, danger perception, calculations, and resource management support one another, but her unusual perception does not turn her late Foundation cultivation into a Purple Mansion realm. (Chapters 1328–1329, 1557, 1562, 1730)

Whole Pill transformations and Divine Singular Attunement

The talisman-bestowed Houshu Golden Book, later called the Golden Book of Singular Attunement, supplies her sixth-grade Whole Pill path. Its grade describes the inheritance's scope, not the realm she possesses when she receives it. Whole Pill cultivation progresses by observing the transformations and inherent properties of matter rather than merely seeking abundant spiritual qi. Vermilion Bud Pavilion is chosen for that work, and Quewan changes her hours when the lake's Bright Yang makes the local transformations too intense and uneven. (Chapters 973, 1033, 1052)

Her Foundation gathers immortal radiance and refines golden mercury through a nurturing path directed toward longevity. She describes its governing mystics as evading death, prolonging life, commanding birds and beasts, and tempering essences. Practical applications include adjusting a material for relatives' Metal Virtue qi gathering and obtaining related Pure Essence resources through known gathering methods and material transformations. These achievements depend on the properties and relationships she understands, rather than demonstrating that she can freely turn any substance into an unlimited quantity of another. (Chapters 1188, 1328, 1472)

The foundation has specific counters. Converging Water can scatter its mercury into sand, Merging Fire destroys spiritual nature through its effect on mercury and lead, and Origin Thunder, identified with Prime Magnetism, restrains the path. Its death-avoidance instinct can make otherwise ordinary unease significant, as in the Fei inquiry, but does not identify every source of danger. Her later perception of subtle Wilderness changes combines this foundation with long shamanic study; comparable perception in that situation establishes a capability rather than a higher formal realm. (Chapters 1328, 1437, 1557)

Shamanic calculations and spirit perception

Quewan's spiritual orifice lies between her brows, and her unusual soul allows early glimpses of others' spiritual condition. The visitor's six lights and Qinghong's violet field demonstrate that perception without giving the child those cultivators' stages. Profound Shamanic Spells develops the talent into methods using blood essence, silver-white mercury light, seals, and ivory tokens. Even after years of effort, however, she has only scratched the inheritance's surface; its deeper mysteries demand a stronger practitioner than she is at the seventh Qi layer. (Chapters 970, 972–974, 1025, 1116)

Her calculations can examine blood-linked histories, distinguish genealogical relationships, and investigate hidden irregularities. In Zhouluo's inquiry, nine matching token results lead her to infer an Eastern Fire blood feud without a directly operating Purple divine ability. She explicitly warns that descendant blood can misattribute an event to an ancestor or his lineage. Talisman protection and indirect inquiry reduce some risks, but do not make directly calculating a Purple cultivator safe or turn a repeated result into omniscience. (Chapters 1328–1329, 1390)

The battlefield search demonstrates the cost of difficult applications. She cannot simply locate survivors from safety; she reaches the site, uses shamanic arts amid the lingering divine ability, and secretly probes with the family's immortal artifact. Mana exhaustion and blood expenditure accompany the work, although she later reports that the loss of lifespan was limited. Combined foundation and shamanic perception also detects the Wilderness disturbance, while her later progress remains that of an exceptionally skilled Foundation investigator rather than an independently attained Fate Divine Ability. (Chapters 1534–1535, 1557, 1730)

Scattered White Falling Feathers

Scattered White Falling Feathers is the fifth-grade escape spell appended to the Houshu Golden Book. Quewan initially cannot grasp it. After Divine Singular Attunement forms, the subtle resonance between celestial phenomena and material transformation lets her complete the spell. Its attainment is a concrete expansion of her ability to preserve life, distinct from merely owning a difficult manuscript or reading its description. (Chapters 974, 1328)

The escape consumes vital essence and damages cultivation in a manner she compares to blood escape. She therefore refuses a casual demonstration for Jiangqian. Her later emergency movement is extremely fast and consumes blood, though its relation to Scattered White Falling Feathers is unclear. She reserves the completed, costly spell for emergencies rather than routine travel. (Chapters 1328, 1534–1535)

Secret techniques and preservation study

The Golden Book contains five secret techniques, of which Quewan has mastered three by the later report from her letters. Years of Profound Shamanic visualization have trained her to perceive the Shenyang Mansion and work through difficult principles. When she turns to the secret techniques, that foundation greatly accelerates her understanding. The named Seated Radiance remains in progress: she expects it to take no more than two years, but the estimate does not establish completion or the Purple Mansion attainment she urgently desires. (Chapters 1727, 1730)

She also studies the Wondrous Scroll of Divided Spirit and Variant Body after Changdie unseals it. Its described arts can create variant bodies for preservation, cultivation, avoiding tribulations, and escaping calamity. Reincarnation is conditional on deep Dao conduct and suitable treasures, and Changdie stresses its enormous cost, poor odds, and lingering consequences compared with other methods. Quewan's hope that it may help the family's Daoist Master gives the study personal purpose. Neither reading it nor recognizing its worth demonstrates that she creates a variant body or performs reincarnation herself. (Chapter 1730)

Resource stewardship and protective medicine

Quewan applies material expertise through careful measurements, distribution, and purchasing. Changed spirit and earth veins require a new palace layout after formation work, while large purchases must be spread among markets so sellers do not exploit the family's need. Her control of spirit items and cooperation with Xia Shouyu affect which smaller families can develop their own gathering resources. The role requires attention to both cultivation properties and the political consequences of deciding who receives them. (Chapters 1359, 1485, 1510)

Her emergency treatment of Zhouda uses experience gained from that stewardship. She handles supplies steadily despite exhausting her mana and coughing blood, feeds the severed head the Wanlin Blossom, and adds other precious resources to delay death. The injuries are explicitly beyond medicine alone. Zhouwei supplies the divine restoration that rebuilds the body, while Quewan's sustaining work preserves the opportunity for him to act. She is an effective resource handler and rescuer without being credited with a divine ability capable of independently reconstructing the dead or gravely mutilated. (Chapters 1534–1535)

Relationships

  • Li Baotuo and her brothers: Her spiritual talent transforms the prospects of her mortal household, but her elevation also exposes it to rivalry. She worries about her father's distress during the brothers' detention and asks for restraint after their exoneration. Their relocation under Xuanxuan gives the damaged household a practical settlement. (Chapters 969–970, 1033, 1052)
  • Li Qinghong: Qinghong intervenes against Hu Jingye's coercive engagement scheme and brings Shuwan into central-family cultivation. Her criticism of the major and minor branch divide connects Quewan's individual opportunity to the treatment of ordinary kin. (Chapters 970–972)
  • Li Xuanxuan: The elder's past adoption arrangements preserve her branch, and he warmly supports the discovery of its gifted child. Quewan later helps him and responds to his loneliness, keeping family service connected to the people who made her opportunity possible. (Chapters 969, 1116–1117)
  • Li Jiangqian: A close cousin, confidant, and cultivation planner. Their early dispute about virtue deepens mutual respect, and his advice helps her choose practical self-preserving arts. They later cooperate in investigations while weighing the danger of probing stronger cultivators. (Chapters 988, 1116, 1328–1329)
  • Li Zhouwei: He supports her through a suitable cultivation site, protection, and the settlement of her brothers' case. His eventual rescue of Zhouda depends on the time her treatment buys. She later hopes to reach Purple and study preservation arts useful to him, increasingly anxious about the risks of his kingship. (Chapters 1033, 1052–1053, 1534–1535, 1730)
  • Li Ximing: He entrusts her with sensitive guarding, calculations, and resources, then makes her protected overseas cultivation a family priority. His instruction that Changdie safeguard her shows the value placed on her future as well as the work she already performs. (Chapters 1389, 1401, 1557, 1730)
  • Li Queyi and Li Quexi: Her treatment of the younger women recognizes differences of timing, patronage, and opportunity. She insists that the family continue treating them well without making kindness conditional on a future return of favors. (Chapters 1190–1191)
  • Liu Changdie: Her overseas protector values the Dao conduct built through long shamanic study and begins treating her with the respect of a prospective peer. He shares the unsealed preservation scroll and hands her regular letters from home. His admiration concerns exceptional promise, rather than proof that she has already attained his realm. (Chapter 1730)
  • Li Zhouda and Li Zhouming: She spends blood and rare resources to keep Zhouda alive after the battlefield disaster. Zhouming witnesses the effort and its costs, while Zhouwei provides the final restoration. The encounter demonstrates the urgency behind her otherwise patient material and cultivation work. (Chapters 1534–1535)

Items

  • Profound Pearl Talisman Seed: She receives the family's talisman seed beside Jiangqian. It grants access to her Whole Pill and shamanic inheritances and supports her protected inquiries. The seed is a bestowed connection, rather than ownership of every power or object in the family's hidden system. (Chapters 972–973, 1328)
  • Houshu Golden Book / Golden Book of Singular Attunement: The sixth-grade inheritance supplies the Whole Pill path, five secret techniques, and the appended Scattered White Falling Feathers. The original material is secured rather than left in an ordinary study hall, while she works from memorized contents and cultivation notes. Three secret techniques are later mastered; the book's Purple grade does not determine her attained realm. (Chapters 973–974, 988, 1727)
  • Profound Shamanic Spells: A bestowed inheritance demanding prolonged study. Her early attempt to copy a spell sets the paper alight and produces strange caterpillars, prompting the elders to protect its secrecy. Its difficult contents gradually shape her perception and later comprehension of other arts. (Chapters 973–974, 1116, 1730)
  • Mountain Ghost Talisman: Zhouwei gives her the physical talisman for study and protection, describing its Foundation Establishment might. Receipt of it while she is a junior does not make that strength an innate realm attainment of her own. (Chapter 1053)
  • Inner-cultivation mercury artifact: She examines the dantian treasure for its assistance to spells, spiritual sense, and Whole Pill transformations. Its contained Translucent Bloodsilver incantation uses blood qi and belongs to an ancient devil path, which she distinguishes from the functions she can use. (Chapter 1328)
  • Wanlin Blossom: The life-preserving material she feeds Zhouda's severed head during the catastrophe. It forcibly delays death and makes time for Zhouwei's divine restoration; its use does not itself rebuild the destroyed body. (Chapters 1534–1535)
  • Wondrous Scroll of Divided Spirit and Variant Body: The family sends the sealed Changxiao inheritance overseas for Changdie to unlock. Quewan studies it with him and recognizes possible value for her elder's preservation. The described variant-body and reincarnation applications remain conditional and costly rather than demonstrated personal achievements. (Chapter 1730)
