Li Xiewen

Biography
A trusted manager of the clan
As Li Yesheng’s son, Xiewen is entrusted with Lijing Town and later assists Li Xuanxuan in managing the Li family’s towns and mountain holdings. Though he describes himself as an unremarkable child, his long working relationship with Xuanxuan makes him a trusted manager. He guides family affairs, gathers reports on local cultivators and political alliances, and accepts appointment as an inspector over cultivators from minor sects and branch families. When family factions compete for gifted children, he follows the instruction to move promising disciples away from the conflict. (Chapters 65–66, 93, 115–117, 155, 182)
Xiewen’s son Li Pingyi carries a disguised Thunder Pearl from a mine to Li Yuanxiu, not knowing it is part of the Yu Family’s plot; its explosion kills Yuanxiu and leaves Pingyi badly injured. Xiewen confronts his son after the disaster, grieving both the entrusted successor and Pingyi’s role in bringing him the pearl. Pingyi later takes his own life, and Xiewen tells Li Yuanjiao what happened while delivering Yuanxiu’s charred wooden slip. By the time Xiewen appears again, he is old, untrained in cultivation, and diminished by the loss of his son and the fading influence of his branch. (Chapters 210–211, 213, 215, 305)
