Xin Clove

Xin Clove is the daughter of Slough mayor Ben Clove, the younger sister of Jayden Tiger, and Gary Dem's eventual Luna and wife. Her pursuit of freedom first leads her to choose Alterification and an AFC career; after Jayden's death draws her into the Howlers' wars, she voluntarily gives up her wyvern Altered form to become a Luna Werewolf. That decision changes her from an elite individual fighter into Gary's indispensable mystical anchor, a defender of the pack, and one of the Howlers' acting leaders.

Biography

A guarded student searching for an ordinary life

Xin enters Eton High as a conspicuous new student with ash-grey hair and the burden of being the mayor's daughter. Although her father's position brings wealth and protection, it also makes ordinary friendship difficult: guards follow her, classmates approach her for status, and Ben treats exposure to danger as proof that she needs still tighter control. Xin therefore values the one year of regular school life she bargained from him and initially keeps her famous older brother's identity private. Her interest in martial arts gives her a more reliable measure of people than social standing; she is amused rather than offended by Gary's awkwardness and says that anyone who wants to impress her should first be able to defeat her. (Chapters 9, 12, and 32–35)

Her confidence rests on real training rather than bravado. Jayden has taught her from childhood, and she defeats Gary in their karate-club bout through timing and a precise strike behind the ear rather than greater raw power. Yet the same family training that gives her independence also reinforces the standard she sets for herself: she refuses to represent the school and considers Jayden, not herself, the genuinely talented fighter. Her joking rule that a partner should be able to beat Jayden gradually softens into a demand that he at least be stronger than she is, revealing both her admiration for her brother and her refusal to be treated as helpless. (Chapters 32–35)

The rugby match and Cipen Park expose the limits of the safety Ben has tried to purchase. Xin notices suspicious filming equipment, then chooses to follow Tom, Kai, Innu, and Marie when Gary disappears. When Billy kills her bodyguard and the others freeze, Xin takes responsibility for getting them away; she drags Tom from danger and knocks him unconscious when he refuses to abandon the search, judging survival more important than his consent in the moment. The experience frightens her, but its lasting consequence is imposed by her father: even more guards and less freedom. (Chapters 76–92)

Her attempt to live normally becomes the means by which Tiffany and a red-colour gang target her. Xin goes alone to recover stolen belongings, believing she is confronting a school dispute, and fights several gang members before Gary intervenes. When the gang later invades the school and kidnaps her, Gary and Jayden rescue her; even then Xin helps the injured Tiffany escape, but refuses to pretend that an apology erases the danger Tiffany brought to the school or the destruction of Xin's one ordinary year. Her anger is directed less at personal humiliation than at having everyone else made collateral to her protected identity. (Chapters 192–213)

Ben's proposed answer is another hidden school under a false name. Xin instead demands a life in which her choices are her own, and Jayden offers a harsher but more durable route: become an Altered, train at the AFA, and gain enough strength that protection no longer means confinement. Xin understands that Alterification is irreversible and accepts it anyway. Her declaration that she will “gladly become an Altered” if that is the price of living as she wishes establishes the motive that drives her first career: power is not celebrity to her, but the means to move through the world without permission. (Chapters 214–216)

Choosing Alterification and earning an AFC place

Before leaving Slough, Xin and Gary acknowledge their attraction without pretending that either can offer a simple relationship. Gary's visit to the Clove home puts him under Ben's suspicion and Jayden's scrutiny, while Xin resists both men's tendency to discuss her future as if it belongs to them. She kisses Gary goodbye and leaves for the academy, turning their connection into a promise rather than a settled romance. Gary follows to the AFA partly because of her, but Xin's own purpose remains the freedom she expects to earn through professional strength. (Chapters 258–263)

NIRV gives Xin a selection of experimental fossil-based solutions. She rejects the more elegant aquatic specimen and chooses the yellow serum linked to a large, jagged winged creature because its presence makes the strongest impression and she believes it offers the best chance of AFC success. The presentation establishes that the procedure permanently fuses the user with a specific ancient beast and that control and later development vary by individual. Xin accepts those uncertainties as the continuation of her earlier choice, not as something Ben or Jayden imposes on her. (Chapters 273–274)

At the AFA, disciplined work quickly makes Xin the leading student in her cohort and places her near an AFC debut. Her reunion with Gary is affectionate but cautious. She believes his prepared story that the Howlers sponsored his Alterification, yet researches the organization and dislikes learning that he has joined a gang after seeing what gangs did to her school. At the same time, she does not allow classmates to dismiss him: she remembers the stubborn boy who kept fighting her in Slough and warns them that his unpolished record does not measure his actual danger. Gary's starvation-driven loss of control during an exhibition forces Xin to reveal the elemental side of her own Altered body. With Numba and other students unable to restrain him, she grips his shoulders and channels enough electricity through him to make him lose consciousness. She is frightened by how far she had to go and apologizes afterward, but the act shows the practical difference between affection and indulgence: when Gary is dangerous, Xin will stop him rather than preserve his pride. The episode also begins a pattern that later defines her as Luna, though the lightning she uses here belongs to her manufactured Altered form, not to her later bond with him. (Chapters 419–420)

Xin's training is unusually sustained even among the academy's best. During conditioning she continues striking after physically stronger students fade, explaining that her goal is to become good enough that no one must watch over her. She applies the same technical discipline on an improvised academy date, teaching Gary that control and placement matter more than raw force. Their kiss and her request that he keep chasing her turn the relationship into an explicit mutual commitment, while her intervention when senior students attack Numba demonstrates what her training is becoming: a directed electrical pulse disrupts the signals between brain and body, she incapacitates ten Altereds without transforming, and she strikes a final attacker from several metres away. (Chapters 500 and 514–518)

A top-fifty fighter returns to the Howlers

After a year apart, Xin returns to a transformed Slough on the verge of entering the AFC top fifty. Her progress would fulfil Ben's condition for independence, but sponsorship creates a new version of the same problem: powerful corporations and gangs will eventually demand control of a successful fighter. When Gary offers the Howlers as a sponsor, Xin initially refuses because exchanging her father's authority for a gang's would defeat everything she has worked for. Gary then reveals that he leads the Howlers and promises partnership rather than obedience. Xin accepts because Slough's recovery supports his account of the gang, because he finally trusts her with the truth, and because he recognizes freedom as her non-negotiable condition. In return, she asks him to investigate why Jayden has withdrawn from her. (Chapters 761–764)

Joining the Howlers makes Xin responsible for threats that arrive while Gary is absent. She fights Gil during an attack on the city and learns that conventional skill is not enough against his size-changing Mythical form. To protect the hospital and Gary's recovering family, she unveils a partial transformation the AFC has never seen: hardened yellow feathers, a single wing, and lightning that accelerates her beyond Gil's fastest state. She forces him outside rather than risk discharging uncontrolled electricity around patients. The form gives her the speed and power to injure him, but holding her breath to focus it rapidly exhausts her, and Gil's enhanced gravity eventually restrains her. Austin and Midwak turn the losing duel into a group victory, with Xin repeatedly re-entering the fight even after her transformation begins to fail. (Chapters 788–791 and 862–883)

The Phoenix assault also changes Xin's place within Gary's wider family. She helps protect the hospital where Maya has awakened, fights beside Austin despite both being injured, and later reunites Gary with his mother rather than centring their own reunion. She sees directly that the Howlers' wars reach civilians and loved ones, yet does not retreat from the sponsorship agreement. Instead, she becomes one of the people who can act when Gary is imprisoned or absent, while continuing to question Ben's use of gangs as mayor and clearing out predatory groups he once tolerated. Her conflict with her father is no longer simply about her personal confinement: she condemns the fear his compromises imposed on other Slough families. (Chapters 880–883, 923–930, and 962)

Ben's eventual explanation complicates her loyalty to Jayden. Xin learns that her brother, not only her father, supported the sheltered childhood she resented, because Jayden's secret war against NIRV and the One Gang made the Clove family vulnerable. Rather than accept being excluded for her own good, Xin seeks the truth through Gary and Kanu and attends Jayden's match against Harvor. Her response is consistent with the choice she made as a teenager: danger is not a sufficient reason to deny her agency, especially when it concerns the brother whose example shaped her life. (Chapters 962–975)

Jayden's sacrifice and Xin's failed revenge

At the AFC arena, Xin is forced to watch Harvor treat Jayden's vendetta as entertainment. She restrains her anger at first, even helping Gary remember that he now stands as a King rather than a fan, but Harvor's taunts make her partially transform. Gary calms her, and she later returns the restraint when a Zodiac attacks her and Gary wants to escalate. Their ability to stop one another matters because neither denial nor blind support would survive what follows. Once the match turns into open violence, Xin joins the escape while Jayden remains behind to hold off Harvor's dragon form. (Chapters 985–991 and 1010–1028)

Xin refuses to accept that her brother must be abandoned. When Kai arrives with hundreds of Howlers, she demands that they return immediately, accuses him of valuing Jayden less than Gary, and attacks when Kai calls the rescue strategically impossible. Kai defeats and restrains her, forcing her to confront the fact that rushing the entire gang at an opponent who has already beaten Gary would only multiply Jayden's sacrifice. She returns to Slough but disables the people assigned to watch her and disappears, still unable to live with inaction. (Chapters 1028–1031)

Her private retaliation is methodical at first and self-destructive underneath. Xin ambushes the Zodiac Vico in a bathroom, exploits water to conduct her lightning through his body, and kills him before moving down her list toward Harvor. She follows William to Harvor's mansion and tries to eliminate the Zodiacs individually, reasoning that she cannot defeat Harvor yet but can become ruthless and strong enough to reach him. Grief overrides the caution that normally distinguishes her fighting. Stanley, another wyvern Altered, exposes both the name of her manufactured species and its limitations, defeats her despite their similar speed specialization, and takes her captive. (Chapters 1053–1057)

Captivity makes the consequence of her revenge unavoidable. Starved until she cannot transform, Xin watches Austin, Kanu, Ice, and others risk themselves to free her while Gary fights Harvor under the threat that she will be used as a prize. She recognizes that she pursued revenge without considering who would have to rescue her or what Gary would do if she died. Apollo, who earlier stopped Stanley from killing her, ultimately helps the rescuers escape the One Gang. Xin survives, but the experience breaks the idea that accepting help necessarily means surrendering freedom; chosen interdependence is not the same as the control Ben imposed on her. (Chapters 1095–1108)

The Howlers' victory over Harvor does not resolve Jayden's loss, but it gives Xin a family with whom she can carry it. At the celebration she admits to Gary that she is afraid of losing more people and lets him hold her rather than turning grief into another solitary mission. Her willingness to remain in the Howlers, and to think about the pack as a whole, becomes the basis for the much larger sacrifice she soon considers. (Chapters 1140 and 1148–1151)

Giving up the wyvern to become Gary's Luna

Gary's need for a Luna initially appears to exclude Xin because the role requires a female Werewolf of comparable grade. Tom's research supplies one narrow method: an Alpha's first bite temporarily suppresses an Altered's powers; a second bite must be delivered during the brief powerless interval, and missing that window permanently prevents conversion. Gary explains that Xin would lose the wyvern form for good, enter the pack's supernatural hierarchy, and accept an uncertain role beside him. Xin does not answer immediately, and Gary briefly selects Marie instead rather than pressure her. (Chapters 1148–1153)

Xin then makes the decision in her own terms. She says that the two things she still wants are the brother she has lost and a life with Gary, and that becoming Luna would bring her into the reality he has had to keep divided from ordinary life. She apologizes to Marie for changing the choice, but refuses to remain silent merely to make the decision easier for everyone else. Gary accepts, warns her that even the intended conversion carries a small risk of death, and delivers the first bite only after she affirms that risk. (Chapters 1152–1154)

As the first bite suppresses her lightning and transformation, Xin becomes temporarily weaker during a period of vampire attacks. Gary offers to abandon the process, but she points out that the opportunity is one-time and that the coming conflict with Lupus may require every Luna advantage. Once her Altered abilities are completely gone, she asks him to complete the second bite and arranges for Tom and Marie to monitor the conversion while Gary leaves on a dangerous mission. Her choice costs the top-fifty fighter identity she spent years earning, but it is voluntary and strategically informed rather than a return to dependence. (Chapters 1182, 1199, and 1202)

The Luna bond activates with the second bite even though neither of them immediately understands it. When Gary returns, Xin can find him through an instinctive pull and is already a Queen-grade Luna Werewolf. She chooses the Protector route over Warrior or Hunter because a Luna's value should be measured by what she adds to the pack, not by how closely she recreates her previous duelling style. Gary advances her through the defensive class line into Lunar Sentinel, unlocking Wolf's Song, moon-linked foresight, and a coupled form whose protection grows around allies. (Chapters 1329–1337)

Their mountain test shows both the power and the cost of the bond. Xin adapts to partial and full Werewolf transformations almost immediately because the control resembles Alterification, and her Queen-grade body can spar near Gary's ordinary Werewolf level. Physical intimacy activates their paired higher forms: Xin becomes a silver-lit Lunar Sentinel while Gary enters the berserk Nocturne Apex state. She remains conscious and can calm him by touch, drawing the transformation's energy out of both bodies, but the process exhausts her and cannot be separated from his loss of control. Instead of merely gaining a stronger combat body, she becomes the person responsible for deciding when Gary's greatest power must end. (Chapters 1339–1342)

Foresight and the full-moon siege

The Luna bond soon functions outside combat. When Gary follows Unzoku's call without telling anyone, Xin senses that something is wrong, brings Kai back to his apartment, and helps track him into the forest. Their arrival gives Unzoku new targets, but it also provokes Gary into breaking the progenitor's restraint and prevents his confrontation from remaining secret. Afterward, Xin joins Innu's Qi training and masters the basic separation between energy and transformation in one attempt, then channels Qi into a purely human punch. Her speed of learning reinforces that losing the wyvern has not erased the technical fighter beneath it. (Chapters 1346–1351 and 1359–1363)

On the night of the full moon, an earlier pact leaves Gary's pack unable to transform, while Lupus's wolves retain their full strength. Xin initially remains hidden with other high-value fighters because her Luna form is strategically necessary later. The waiting torments her, and she questions whether giving up lightning was a mistake when the Howlers need frontline power. Midwak teaches her that foresight may be accessible as a mental Luna ability even without transformation. Under direct moonlight she opens herself to that energy and receives a disturbing vision of civilians slaughtered on Newton Street. Rather than dismiss an unclear image, she leads a team toward the threatened district and exposes Ghost's attempt to use civilians to draw the Howlers out. (Chapters 1406–1409)

Xin cannot overpower the Ironfang while locked in human form, but she organizes the group around what remains: martial technique, Qi, Olivia's ranged support, Park's healing, and Midwak's knowledge of Ironfang equipment. They injure and reveal Ghost, yet his invisibility item and full transformation eventually leave the team broken. Marie's arrival in a separate Luna bond demonstrates what Xin's own Moonforged Body could become at the full moon, while also proving the Luna's unusual calm against the normal frenzy. Xin accepts Marie's help without treating her as a rival and redirects the recovered group toward the larger battle. (Chapters 1437–1441)

At sunrise, Xin's transformations return. She has deliberately stayed near enough to feel when Gary needs her, and his call brings her across the battlefield to activate Nocturne Apex. The three Alphas—Gary, Kai, and Lupus—attack one another as readily as the enemy, so Xin cannot simply add another fighter to the melee. She uses Wolf's Song to strengthen the wider Howlers, then chooses with Marie to protect ordinary fighters while keeping the Alphas in sight. When the medallion suddenly removes all three Alphas from the battlefield, the Lunas are among the few forces still powerful enough to prevent the war from restarting. (Chapters 1508–1513)

Xin and Marie subdue the last resisting Ironfang and use the Luna's ability to accept willing wolves into another pack. The method cannot simply overwrite a conscious wolf's allegiance, but the surviving Lupus members agree to cross over after their defeat, preventing leaderless remnants from prolonging the war. Xin processes the surviving group into the Howlers and helps arrange shelter rather than treating them as prisoners. That settlement leaves her with responsibility for former enemies at the same moment Gary, Kai, and Lupus are missing. (Chapters 1514–1517)

Holding the Howlers together without their Alphas

The Alphas remain absent for two months. Xin and Marie preserve the public claim that the Howlers won decisively, limiting the chance that vampires or Unzoku will exploit the leadership vacuum. Xin also sends a Werewolf strike force to secure Centerfield and continues the Howlers' obligations rather than allowing the organization to freeze around the search for Gary. Her authority rests not only on the Luna title but on her willingness to make decisions that affect territory, new pack members, and the safety of Slough. (Chapters 1516–1518 and 1735–1736)

When Marcus arrives after vampires destroy the Dark Guild, Xin treats his story as both a possible warning and a possible trap. She divides the core into two investigative teams: Innu, Austin, Marie, and Slit trace reports of an unfamiliar wolf, while she goes with Marcus, Olivia, and Luzen to inspect a Dark Guild base. She orders both teams to avoid starting a vampire war but permits self-defence, balancing the Howlers' need for information against the danger of appearing passive. (Chapters 1722–1725)

At the ruined base, Xin reads the arrival of vampires as an attempt to erase evidence rather than an invitation to a decisive fight. She keeps the group focused on gathering information and assets, and later cautions that they are not formally at war with the vampires. Her leadership during Gary's absence is therefore not an imitation of his impulsiveness: it combines the nerve that once sent her alone into danger with a newer insistence on defining the objective and limiting escalation. (Chapters 1725–1728)

Gary's return validates the structure he left behind. The former Lupus pack has been integrated, commitments have continued, and two dangerous investigations are already under way. Xin's immediate embrace shows the personal strain of his disappearance, but she does not surrender command by waiting for him to solve what happened; she asks for his account only after the teams are safely reunited. (Chapters 1735–1738)

The Glutton crisis, Unzoku's defeat, and a new family

After returning to ordinary operations, Xin continues rebuilding the fighting style she lost in conversion. She trains with Olivia three times a day, specifically working on Qi and on adapting her precise, speed-based academy technique to a much larger and heavier Werewolf body. When Glutton Werewolves breach the manor, that practice pays off: Xin transforms in mid-air, uses a concentrated Qi punch to break the floor beneath an attacker, crushes its skull before it can regenerate, and defeats two more despite being grappled. She then moves immediately from combat to command, issuing an encrypted city-wide warning and ordering every capable Howler to protect civilians. (Chapters 1776–1779)

As attacks converge, Xin becomes the information centre for Slough. She recognizes that the Gluttons retreating in a common direction are probably returning to a wounded Unzoku, relays Lupus's report to Gary, and works with Kai to triangulate Tower Land. When the final force assembles, she brings every available Werewolf, Altered, and hunter rather than treating the fight as an Alpha duel. Her judgment is that Unzoku will use his creatures as a shield and that the broader force must hold them off so the core can reach him. (Chapters 1820–1825)

Xin and Marie initially preserve themselves at the edge of the final Alpha battle because their irreplaceable task is to recover Gary and Kai from their feral forms. Xin repeatedly redirects Gary toward Unzoku and, after the medallion is destroyed, correctly reasons that Unzoku cannot mentally command Alphas who are operating on pure instinct. When Gary and Kai begin destroying one another, she chooses with Marie to restore their minds despite the risk that Unzoku can then control them. Their synchronized Aegis Howl reflects part of Unzoku's own strike back at him; their Silver Eclipse Barriers absorb the Alphas' retaliation and burst into blinding light; and physical contact lets them drain the paired forms away. (Chapters 1831–1834)

Once Unzoku controls the exhausted Alphas, Xin offers to hold the line herself. Gary instead orders retreat, and she recognizes that he is clearing space for a final, pack-draining attack. Xin carries Kai out, commands the Howlers away from the blast zone, and preserves enough of the pack for Gary's hammer to draw on without leaving them in the immediate destruction. Gary survives and Unzoku disappears; Xin remains beside Gary through the week-long collapse that follows. (Chapters 1835–1841)

Peace turns her partnership with Gary from a wartime bond into a chosen life. She helps him judge the post-Unzoku restriction on creating more Werewolves, reminding him that training the existing pack is less provocative than building an army that humans and vampires would read as a threat. During the next two years, government action ends the gang-controlled city system and Gary and Kai disband the Howlers as a gang, redirecting its people into legitimate work without discarding their chosen family. Xin and Gary then marry at the manor. Xin invites Ben as a gesture of peace without pretending their relationship is repaired enough for him to walk her down the aisle, while Marie, Olivia, Vere, and Izzy stand with her as the family she found for herself. At the altar she reveals that she is pregnant; during the celebration she tells the former Howlers that she and Gary are expecting a daughter. A private warning from Lupus establishes that an Alpha's pregnant Luna progressively loses supernatural strength near childbirth, making protection of the family Gary and Xin created the next responsibility of their bond. Appearance and personality

Xin is introduced as a beautiful young woman with long ash-grey hair. Her most consistent visual distinction remains the contrast between that grey hair and the yellow light of her former Altered power. Partial wyvern transformation produced jagged, hardened yellow feather-like growths along her arms and legs, narrowed yellow-glowing eyes, and eventually a single wing. Her ordinary Werewolf form instead has brown fur and a notably large, heavy build. As Lunar Sentinel, silver-white light marks her skin in crescent patterns and forms translucent, moonlit armor around her chest, shoulders, and limbs. (Chapters 9, 862–864, and 1340–1342)

She is direct about attraction, anger, and disagreement, but her bluntness is paired with unusually strong self-control. She can tease Gary through his embarrassment, yet will incapacitate him when he becomes dangerous and later talk him down from political decisions he is second-guessing. Her worst lapse comes after Jayden's apparent death, when grief turns her independence into isolation and revenge. Being rescued forces her to recognize that acting alone can deny loved ones agency just as surely as her father's restrictions once denied hers. (Chapters 12, 419–420, 1053–1100, and 1843)

Freedom remains her central value, but its meaning develops. As a student she understands it as needing no guard; as an AFC fighter, as being strong enough to reject sponsors; and as Luna, as choosing obligations rather than having them assigned. That is why she can give up a prestigious Altered form without contradicting her earlier goals: the conversion is a risk she evaluates and accepts for herself. In later crises she is practical, strategic, and protective, willing to retreat or negotiate when those choices preserve people rather than merely her own pride. Powers and abilities

Xin's abilities come from three distinct phases. She begins as a highly trained human martial artist, becomes a manufactured lightning wyvern Altered through a consumed NIRV Altered solution, and permanently loses that form when Gary's two-stage Alpha bite converts her into a Luna Werewolf. Qi and martial technique carry across the transition, while Luna support and Lunar Sentinel replace rather than extend her former electricity.

Martial arts and Qi

Jayden trains Xin from childhood, giving her disciplined kicking technique, timing, balance, and the ability to analyze an opponent rather than trade strength blindly. She defeats the newly empowered Gary by exploiting a vulnerable point behind the ear and later reaches the AFC top fifty without displaying her full transformation or illegal elemental power. Her combat judgment remains effective when transformation is unavailable: against Ghost she anticipates a grab, turns it into a kick, coordinates with weaker allies, and reorganizes the group around healing and ranged support. (Chapters 32–35, 862–865, and 1437–1439)

Innu teaches her to distinguish Qi from automatic Werewolf transformation. She learns the first step in one attempt, suppresses a change, and channels the same internal energy into an untransformed punch. Qi can condense more force into a strike without requiring a special form, but it is a finite reserve whose control must be trained. Xin later tells Olivia that using it reliably in combat remains one of their main areas of work. Against the Gluttons, she demonstrates the developed application by concentrating Qi in a transformed fist and preventing a resilient enemy from recovering with immediate follow-up blows. Her principal post-conversion limitation is mechanical rather than technical: the large, heavy Werewolf body does not suit the speed-based style she built as an Altered. Daily sparring with Olivia is meant to rewrite distance, balance, and instinct for that mass. She improves quickly, but explicitly treats the adaptation as unfinished rather than assuming that her earlier skill transfers without cost. (Chapter 1776)

Manufactured wyvern Altered form and lightning

Xin's original Altered physiology comes from an irreversible NIRV fossil serum selected from several unique specimens. She chooses the yellow solution connected to the most imposing jagged winged creature for its perceived competitive potential. The creature is not identified at acquisition; Stanley later recognizes both of them as wyvern Altereds, resolving what Xin herself had only known as a winged lightning beast. Because the solution is consumed and permanently changes her body, it is the source of this phase of her powers rather than carried equipment. (Chapters 273–274 and 1055–1056)

She can generate yellow electricity before visibly transforming. Direct current can render an opponent unconscious, while a ground discharge spreads through multiple bodies and disrupts neural signals so limbs respond incorrectly. She can also project a concentrated lightning strike several metres from a punch. These effects make her unusually capable of disabling groups without lethal force, but sufficient voltage can still cause severe injury or death; her ambush on Vico uses water to conduct a full-body discharge that destroys his brain. (Chapters 419–420, 518, and 1053)

Partial transformation covers her limbs in hard, jagged feather-like plates and produces a single wing. Electricity around her legs and wing accelerates her movement, permits repeated mid-air redirection, adds impact to punches and kicks, and can expand into an explosive pulse at contact. In the AFC she conceals this because elemental attributes are prohibited and because she cannot reliably contain the passive sparks. Her strongest demonstrated method also requires her to hold her breath so she can focus on movement and discharge; repeated attacks therefore exhaust her quickly, and uncontrolled arcs threaten nearby allies and structures. Gravity strong enough to pin her and a faster, more experienced wyvern such as Stanley can counter the form. (Chapters 862–865, 1017, and 1054–1057)

Gary's first Alpha bite suppresses this entire power set rather than combining it with werewolf traits. The suppression is temporary by itself, but a correctly timed second bite converts an Altered and makes the loss permanent; if that window is missed, later bites will neither remove the restored Altered power nor convert the target. Xin completes the process willingly and never demonstrates lightning, the wing, or hardened feathers afterward. (Chapters 1149–1154 and 1182–1202)

Werewolf physiology and the Luna bond

The successful second bite makes Xin a Queen-grade Luna Werewolf. She gains enhanced strength, speed, senses, durability, regeneration, partial transformation, and a full Werewolf form. Her experience controlling individual Altered limbs makes the basic transformation intuitive, and she can match Gary closely during their first ordinary Werewolf spar. Her senses and bond also create an instinctive pull toward Gary, helping her find him after his return and warning her when his absence feels wrong. (Chapters 1202, 1329–1330, and 1339–1340)

At first, the Howlers' ritual pact prevents her and the rest of Gary's pack from transforming during the full moon. This is a pack-specific prohibition, not an inherent Luna weakness: she can use foresight under the full moon, and Marie later demonstrates that an unrestricted Lunar Sentinel is exceptionally powerful at that phase. After Unzoku's defeat, forced full-moon transformations and the old Pack Rules end, removing that external restriction. (Chapters 1334, 1406–1407, 1440–1441, and 1840)

The bond is reciprocal and proximity-dependent. Xin's presence enables Gary's True Alpha/Nocturne Apex state, while his activation enables her Lunar Sentinel state. At the latest point in the story, Gary still treats consolidating with Xin as necessary before using that form. Pregnancy introduces a later limitation known from the Bookkeeper tradition: an Alpha's Luna becomes progressively weaker and approaches loss of supernatural power near childbirth. The corpus ends early in Xin's pregnancy, before the degree of that weakening is shown directly. (Chapters 1337–1341, 1823, and 1849)

Wolf's Song, foresight, and pack affiliation

Wolf's Song is a standard Luna support skill. Xin projects it as a haunting howl that reaches Howlers across a battlefield and strengthens their bodies, helping the exhausted pack push back at sunrise. It is an area-support application rather than a personal lightning or sonic attack; its value depends on nearby allies who can use the enhancement. (Chapters 1336 and 1510)

Her Luna foresight draws on moonlight. At ordinary strength it can provide brief combat prediction, while a stronger moon makes the visions clearer; under the full moon Xin sees a future scene on Newton Street with enough visual detail to identify the location. The vision is not a complete explanation—she cannot initially tell whose future it is or the exact time—so it requires interpretation and can lead only to a preventative decision, not certainty. Direct exposure to moonlight and deliberate mental focus are shown as her method of access. (Chapters 1336 and 1406–1408)

A Luna can also accept willing Werewolves from another living Alpha's pack. The target's consent is normally required; the power cannot simply replace conscious allegiance, which is why Ylva could not secretly claim Gary's people. Xin uses this function after Lupus's defeat to absorb surviving wolves into the Howlers and prevent a renewed conflict. The unconscious Ironmasked wolf is an unusual case made possible by his prior susceptibility to Luna control, and the text does not establish it as a general exception. (Chapters 1514–1517)

Protector line and Lunar Sentinel

Xin chooses Protector over Warrior or Hunter because she expects Luna and Protector support to compound and because Gary already supplies overwhelming offensive power. Gary advances her through the same defensive line associated with Titan Vanguard and unlocks the Luna-specific Lunar Sentinel. The class therefore reflects her own strategic choice: its power rises through protecting the group rather than recreating her former solo specialization. (Chapters 1336–1337 and 1340–1342)

Lunar Sentinel normally requires Luna Form, and Luna Form requires activation of the paired True Alpha power. During its first test, intimate physical contact triggers both transformations; later, hand contact is sufficient. Xin manifests luminous runes, silver-white eyes, and semi-ethereal armor. She remains calm and conscious, unlike Gary, but the transformation's energy drains when she ends his and leaves both fatigued. She cannot ordinarily activate the complete form independently, making separation from Gary a major tactical limit. (Chapters 1337, 1340–1342, and 1831–1834)

• Moonforged Body: Moonlight increases durability, regeneration, and resistance, with damage reduction rising as the full moon approaches. Xin's old pact initially prevents her from experiencing its true full-moon maximum; Marie's unrestricted use demonstrates the potential Xin recognizes. (Chapters 1337 and 1440–1441)
• Aegis Howl: A timed howl boosts nearby allies' defences and reflects part of incoming damage. It reduces rather than negates the original force, so timing and the users' ability to survive still matter. Xin and Marie synchronize separate-pack howls against Unzoku, producing feedback when he strikes both Alphas at once. (Chapters 1337 and 1834)
• Silver Eclipse Barrier: A moonlight barrier absorbs physical and energy attacks, then explodes in a blinding flash when broken. Gary's Apex strike shatters the paired barriers, but the flash creates the opening the Lunas need to reach both Alphas. Its demonstrated purpose is delay and disruption, not indefinite containment. • Loyal Fang: Xin's damage rises with the number of allies nearby, making her strongest when she has more people to protect. The passive rewards staying with the pack and loses value in isolation; Marie's full-moon use provides the clearest demonstration of the same class mechanic. (Chapters 1337 and 1440–1441)

Anchoring the True Alpha

Xin is the control mechanism for Gary's most dangerous form. The bond can awaken Nocturne Apex, whose strength rivals Lupus and Gary's Dragon form but replaces judgment with feral aggression. Xin's presence does not make Gary harmless: he can snap at her, attack Kai, or redirect toward the nearest threat. She must remain close enough to guide his attention, survive the battlefield, and wait for safe physical contact. (Chapters 1340–1342, 1508–1511, and 1832–1834)

Touch allows her to draw the Apex energy out and return Gary to himself; doing so also drains her own Luna state. In the final battle, Xin adds tactical judgment to that mechanism: she preserves her strength, predicts the opening Unzoku will take, uses defensive skills to reach Gary, and only then ends the form. This is not mind control over Gary but a paired transformation with a deliberately preserved exit condition. If Xin is injured, absent, or too far away, Gary either cannot activate the form or cannot safely return from it. (Chapters 1341–1342 and 1831–1834)

She refuses sponsorship until Gary offers equality, gives up her Altered form only after choosing the Luna bond herself, becomes the anchor for his most dangerous power, and steadies his decisions when leadership guilt overwhelms him. They marry two years after Unzoku's defeat and expect a daughter. (Chapters 258–263, 514–516, 761–764, 1148–1202, 1329–1342, and 1843–1849)
• Jayden Tiger: Her older brother is her first teacher, private standard of strength, and principal family confidant, but he also helps impose the protected childhood she resents and hides his war against NIRV. His sacrifice against Harvor drives Xin into a revenge campaign that nearly destroys her; she later keeps his memory central to her wedding and the life she builds with Gary.
