Harvor

Harvor Ego is the leader of the One Gang, owner of ONE LTD, and the long-undefeated number-one fighter in the Altered Fighting Championship. He is the sole stated survivor of NIRV's official attempt to create a “True Altered” from a dragon, but he conceals that form behind a human body trained beyond ordinary Altered standards. Harvor treats strength as both personal proof and political entitlement. His destruction of Jayden Tiger, use of Xin Clove as leverage, and alliance with the corrupt NIRV founder Rumper bring the Howlers, White Rose, the Bree family, and Harvor's other enemies together against him.

Biography

From dispossessed student to champion

Harvor grows up in a wealthy Tier-1 environment, physically gifted and socially magnetic even before becoming an Altered. His life changes when both parents die in a car accident. Extended family members use contracts he does not understand to take control of what he should have inherited, his status at school collapses, and he begins channeling anger into fights. Stanley, an academically exceptional but isolated schoolmate, becomes the one person who does not treat him differently. Harvor protects Stanley from other students; Stanley's family then funds Harvor's schooling and helps him recover the property taken from him. Their reciprocal rescue becomes the foundation of Harvor's later organization. (Chapter 1117)

NIRV subsequently selects Harvor for its True Altered project. Harvor says the official program attempted to revive an ancient dragon race through the Altered process and that he was its only survivor. The corpus does not explain how his base human traits, the original beast material, the serum, or any screening procedure combined to produce that result. What it does establish is that the project makes him an exceptionally powerful dragon Altered and that NIRV considers his solution the strongest it has found. Stanley later becomes a wyvern Altered and treats serving Harvor as both friendship and a beast-derived hierarchy, while Harvor promises to listen to the only person he regards as a true friend. Harvor and Stanley build the One Gang before the AFC exists, then turn sporting power into corporate and territorial power. Harvor becomes the undefeated number-one AFC fighter, ONE LTD becomes one of the championship's largest shareholders, and the One Gang controls Strifehold, the Bloodspire arena complex, and a network of elite fighters called the Zodiacs. After Sin's death, Harvor absorbs Inferno City into his territory. His public championship and private status as a King reinforce each other: the arena sells his image as approachable excellence, while control of the city, the promotion system, and powerful Altereds makes it difficult for law enforcement or another gang to challenge what lies behind that image. Jayden's challenge and the exposed dragon

Harvor trains for every match despite rarely needing his Altered form. He believes an Altered is permanently limited by the beast solution already received, so the remaining path to improvement is relentless development of the human body; a stronger base produces a stronger transformation. That discipline is genuine, but so is his need to stage superiority. He normally lets opponents exchange blows with him and then wins spectacularly without transforming, protecting the mystery and reputation that make him more than another champion. He dismisses Raven's attempt to incite an immediate war with the Howlers because they have not yet harmed him and because striking without cause would be strategically foolish. (Chapters 979–983)

Jayden enters their AFC match seeking justice for Jasmine, a woman whose death he attributes to Harvor and the system around him. Harvor remembers her and deliberately uses the name to provoke him. He also recognizes Jayden as an S-rank Retriever and reveals that he himself exceeds NIRV's stated Retriever rankings. Jayden knocks him down while both are human, forces him to fight at greater speed than the public has seen, and then wounds him with the White Tiger's wind attacks. Those elemental attacks violate AFC rules, but Harvor refuses to let officials end the match. He wants to prove that Jayden's full power is still insufficient and turns the rule breach into a public narrative in which the challenger, not the champion, appears dangerous. (Chapters 997–1005)

Harvor wins without transforming, publicly bans Jayden, and privately offers him a place in One Gang. When Jayden promises betrayal rather than submission, Harvor tries to kill him in the ring until Gary Dem, Xin, and their allies intervene. Gary's fire-enhanced attacks and the coalition around him finally force a partial change. Harvor declares himself NIRV's sole successful True Altered, grows golden scales, claws, wings, and a tail, and knocks Gary to one Health with a single blow. When the group escapes, he assumes a colossal full dragon form and pursues them across the city. Jayden remains behind to stop him from following the car toward Slough; Harvor's golden breath blast ends their battle in the river, and Jayden's body is later recovered dead. The pursuit publicly exposes both the dragon and Harvor's willingness to endanger a city rather than allow opponents to escape. (Chapters 1006–1033, 1044)

NIRV corruption and a war of leverage

White Rose uses Jayden's death and the public dragon sighting to prolong its investigation, but Harvor's properties initially yield no charge capable of bringing down a King. At the same time, the Howlers discover that Rumper has been selling infected black-substance solutions through One Gang channels. Harvor understands what the capsules do and distributes them to lower gangs and fighters rather than taking one himself; he sees the recipients' madness as evidence that they are weak. The arrangement gives One Gang disposable power and gives Rumper a distribution network, while Harvor's corporation and political weight shelter a NIRV operation that the other founders have not authorized. Harvor's immediate pressure is retaliation. White Rose restricts his movement, the Howlers seek evidence, and the Bree family prepares to seize territory if One Gang falls. Rather than launch a blind assault, he continues training hundreds of One Gang fighters and waits for the contest in which his personal strength can decide the conflict. Stanley manages the organization around him and even arranges unauthorized attacks on Gary's route, showing that not every action attributed to the King is Harvor's direct order. Harvor nevertheless creates the central provocation himself: after Xin attacks Zodiacs in revenge for Jayden, he keeps her captive and offers her as the “grand prize” in Gary's requested AFC challenge. The leverage reflects Harvor's view of fairness. He honors the commercial terms of the bout, believes Gary will be kept focused by having something to win, and expects the arena to settle a wider political war. Yet he has already placed Xin outside any enforceable law and treats a human life as championship property. He also mistakes concentrated personal power for strategic control. While he prepares to beat Gary publicly, Kai coordinates White Rose action against Rumper and the Zodiacs, Daphne Bree attacks One Gang holdings, and other teams free Xin. Harvor's insistence that no one can cross the wall represented by his strength gives every threatened faction a reason to attack a different support holding that wall in place. (Chapters 1058–1089)

The Clash of Kings

Gary begins the rematch in human form to honor Jayden and show that technique, not only transformation, can challenge Harvor. His improved fight analysis lets him anticipate the champion's movement and land repeatedly, but Harvor's trained body absorbs most attacks. Harvor eventually stops trying to outmaneuver him, deliberately accepts blows, and traps a limb so that Gary must absorb his much heavier counters. Gary's partial and full werewolf changes draw blood, but Harvor's partial dragon form again shifts the balance: wings accelerate his charges, scales resist claws, and golden energy turns his physical superiority into ranged and shaped attacks. Harvor abandons the AFC framing once Gary's fire skills break its rules and the crowd turns against the exposed champion. He attacks with energy beams, flight, claws, tail strikes, and later constructed spears and grasping extensions. Chen, whose Bixi form combines a shell, draconic traits, and water, joins Gary and blocks attacks that would otherwise end the fight. Harvor disparages him as a false dragon, but Chen's defence, Gary's offence, Kai's support, and Daphne's attempt to unlock Gary's latent transformation prevent Harvor from isolating a target. The cooperation answers Harvor's premise before it defeats his body: every opponent accepts a limited role, while Harvor assumes being the strongest individual should make every other role irrelevant. Stanley's death finally breaks Harvor's restraint. The only relationship he treats as equal is gone, and he expands into his full dragon form, destroying roughly half the stadium and buildings beyond it with a golden breath attack. Daphne then unlocks Gary's Shadow Ash Lycan form, whose fire-enhanced speed and force can knock the dragon down but steadily damage Gary from within. Harvor survives Gary's Combustion Bite and continues injuring Daphne, Chen, and Kai. He is defeated only when Gary, Chen, and Dean land simultaneous elemental, weapon, and charging attacks after the wider group creates openings. Harvor is left unmoving, and Gary's System confirms that the opponent has been defeated. (Chapters 1117–1125)

Infection, death, and posthumous power

Defeat does not end Harvor's agency immediately. Before the match, Rumper gave him an infected capsule as protection against the coalition forming around him. Harvor had refused to regard such drugs as legitimate strength, but kept the dose after Rumper argued that defeat would erase every dream he might otherwise achieve. Lying beaten beside Stanley's corpse, Harvor takes it. The substance assaults his mind through his grief and fear of weakness; his identity disappears into an inner darkness, after which shadow pours from his body and draws the infection released from users across the country toward him. Gary's System identifies the transformed Harvor as the source of the infected threat, but the exact being, species, or mechanism behind the substance is not explained in Harvor's own story. The infected form restores and extends his golden dragon techniques through shadow. Harvor creates wings, slowing fields, portals that redirect energy, regenerating barriers, subterranean shadow movement, and claws capable of controlling space around the coalition. His tactical awareness remains: he uses portals to turn Xin's, Apollo's, Ice's, and his own attacks against Gary, triggering Last Stand. Rickle intervenes with an imitation sword able to cut the shadow and resist Harvor's energy. When Rickle cannot finish the fight himself, he gives the weapon to Gary; Kai carries Gary into range while Marie, Olivia, Park, and the rest of the pack restrain, strengthen, and protect him. Gary finally uses the sword and his remaining Shadow Ash power to pierce Harvor through the chest. With no heartbeat and the shadow collapsing, Harvor is confirmed dead. Rickle draws the infection source out of the body with a crystal, ending its effect on the other infected Altereds. Gary then consumes Harvor's remains under a System quest. The act permanently increases Gary's Health and Energy pools, raises elemental and celestial-energy resistance, and eventually gives access to a dragon-derived transformation. Harvor therefore remains consequential long after death: Gary's victory becomes a public measure of his own credibility, and the dragon power gained from Harvor later helps him survive and defeat enemies whose attacks would otherwise kill him. Appearance and personality

Harvor is a large, exceptionally muscular man with dark black hair swept upward and shaved at the sides. He trains shirtless, revealing a purple dragon tattoo across his back, and later bears a permanent spiral scar running up his forearm from Jayden's wind attacks. In public he often smiles, wears sunglasses or open athletic jackets, and projects the easy confidence of a champion who expects attention rather than demands it. (Chapters 979, 1034, 1056)

His partial dragon form roughly doubles his apparent size. Golden scales cover his limbs and parts of his face, his hands develop large claws, separate wings open from his back, and a scaled tail ending in a long white feather extends behind him. Full transformation produces a colossal four-limbed dragon with enormous wings, a body large enough to perch on the Bloodspire arena, and enough mass to create destructive winds merely by flying over the city. His infected state is more human-sized at first but wrapped head to toe in moving black shadow, with shadow wings and remnants of his golden dragon energy. (Chapters 1019–1026, 1117–1118, 1130–1132)

Harvor is disciplined, charismatic, perceptive about combat, and genuinely willing to prepare. He can recognize rare Altered lineages, evaluates new serums and opponents seriously, and declines unnecessary wars when they offer nothing. Those strengths coexist with vanity and entitlement. He values the appearance of a fair contest so long as he controls the rules, stages fights for maximum public effect, and treats opposition as a demand that he prove domination. Being hurt or doubted does not make him reassess his rule; it convinces him that more force must be displayed.

His loyalty to Stanley reveals both humanity and a central weakness. Harvor listens to him because their friendship predates Altered hierarchy, fame, and One Gang, and Stanley's death produces grief deeper than any lost territory. Yet Harvor converts that grief into indiscriminate destruction. He believes strength creates the right to rule countries and that allies who cannot match him are subordinates rather than partners. The coalition that kills him forms precisely because he cannot understand Gary's ability to make very different people invest in one another's success.

Powers and abilities

Human conditioning and combat technique

Harvor's untransformed body is the product of lifelong athletic talent, AFC experience, and continuous strength training. He explicitly trains the human body because an Altered solution cannot normally be replaced and because gains in the base body strengthen its transformed state. Without visible transformation he can move faster than elite Altereds can track, damage the reinforced AFC cage, withstand direct attacks from top-ranked opponents, and nearly kill a full werewolf with one blow. Jayden is the first fighter publicly to knock him down and permanently scar him. (Chapters 979, 997–1005, 1016–1022)

He is an experienced striker and grappler rather than a fighter relying only on statistics. Harvor dodges rapid combinations, reads when an opponent is using vision rather than prediction, redirects attacks, traps limbs, throws larger bodies, and deliberately takes lesser blows to create a decisive counter. Gary's analytical training later exposes patterns in his movement, and Harvor's anger makes him more direct and readable. Coordinated opponents also force him to split attention in ways no one-on-one AFC bout does. (Chapters 997–1005, 1089–1116)

Harvor also describes himself as a Retriever beyond NIRV's S, SS, and SSS rankings. This indicates extensive work recovering beasts or materials for NIRV, but the corpus does not enumerate his retrieval missions or show a separate Retriever-granted ability. The title is evidence of experience and institutional status, not a second power system. (Chapter 997)

NIRV-created dragon physiology

Harvor's Altered form comes from NIRV's True Altered project, which he says attempted to revive dragons. He is the only stated survivor and calls himself the real dragon in contrast to related or hybrid forms such as wyverns and Chen's Bixi. The narrative does not provide the project's serum formula, donor specimen, survival rate beyond Harvor, or a scientific explanation for why he succeeded. Claims that he is literally a surviving ancient dragon would therefore exceed the evidence: he is a human made into a dragon-based Altered. (Chapters 1019–1025, 1112–1113, 1117)

Partial transformation adds golden scales, claws, wings, tail, enlarged musculature, and a sharp increase in speed, force, and durability. His scales withstand most claws, elemental blows, and impacts that would destroy ordinary Altereds. The wings provide immediate acceleration and controlled flight, while the tail functions as a heavy sweeping weapon. Full transformation expands those features into a city-visible dragon body with far more physical power and area reach. His durability is exceptional rather than absolute. Jayden's wind claws cut human skin and later score his dragon face; Gary's enhanced bite penetrates his scales; Chen's water attacks stagger him; and a synchronized combination from Gary, Chen, and Dean renders him immobile. Harvor is also susceptible to combat-control effects strong enough to bypass his will, though Daphne believes his will is too powerful for her reliably to dominate. Golden energy and dragon breath

Harvor generates a bright golden energy in every transformed scale. He can reinforce punches and kicks with it, fire beams from his hands or mouth, and condense it into solid or semi-solid shapes. Demonstrated constructs include spears that pierce Chen's shell and explode against the arena, extended claws that grasp or lash at several opponents, bindings that lift and slam Gary, and multiple beam lines that close around a target. The energy is under deliberate control rather than merely heat or light, but the corpus does not name its source or explain whether it is produced biologically, drawn from the beast essence, or replenished by rest. In full dragon form, his breath can be released as rapid smaller shots or charged into a huge beam. The largest observed blast destroys roughly half the Bloodspire and continues through buildings beyond it. Charging creates a visible sphere in his mouth and gives nearby enemies time to recognize the danger, while smaller beams trade area for speed and repeated targeting. Chen's shell can block some output but is badly injured by the largest blast; Gary's Shadow Ash flames can contest lesser breath fire head-on, and Rickle's imitation sword can split or nullify the energy. Temporary infected shadow state

Rumper's black capsule infects Harvor after his first confirmed defeat. The initial effect attacks identity and exploits his grief over Stanley, then gathers shadow released from infected Altereds across the country. The resulting state restores a body that had been rendered immobile and wraps it in a regenerative shadow layer. Whether the entity speaking inside Harvor is a separate consciousness, a collective infection, or a projection of the substance remains unexplained. The System's description of a feared race signals a wider origin, but does not establish enough mechanics to name one. (Chapters 1129–1131)

The shadow can slow anyone standing within it, form wings and claws, absorb or rapidly replace damaged cover, and let Harvor move through surfaces. Its portals absorb attacks and release them from selected positions, allowing him to surround Rickle with his own golden beams or redirect the coalition's projectiles into Gary. The original dragon energy remains available, so the infection adds spatial control and regeneration to power Harvor already possessed. This combination is his strongest observed state. The state has specific counters. Rickle's imitation sword blocks the golden beams, cuts shadow that ordinary claws cannot meaningfully damage, and prevents its wielder from dying while the weapon remains bound to them. Repeated sword wounds can expose Harvor's human tissue beneath the shadow and prevent immediate evasion. Pack coordination then supplies the opening for a chest impalement. Rickle's crystal extracts the infection after death, causing the dispersed shadow to collapse and ending the connected plague. Harvor never masters or survives the form, so it is a terminal corruption rather than a stable progression. (Chapters 1132–1136)

Leadership, resources, and limitations

Harvor commands the One Gang, Zodiacs, corporate training facilities, AFC influence, territory in multiple cities, and a distribution relationship with Rumper. Those resources let him train large forces, hide fugitives, control event logistics, and pressure investigators. Stanley handles much of the planning and coordination, however, and his death reveals how dependent Harvor's empire is on a strategist he trusts. When Harvor fights personally and Stanley can no longer manage the surrounding operation, the Bree family, White Rose, and Howlers dismantle the organization around him. His greatest limitation is strategic rather than physiological. Harvor assumes every conflict can be reduced to whether anyone is stronger than he is in a direct fight. That model works throughout his AFC career, but fails against an alliance that divides objectives among rescue, investigation, territorial seizure, crowd protection, support, defence, and offence. His dragon form remains the most powerful single body in the stadium; it is still defeated because no single body has to perform every task on the opposing side.

Stanley

Stanley is Harvor's oldest friend, organizer, and the one adviser whose judgment Harvor accepts. Each saves the other before either becomes an Altered: Harvor protects Stanley physically, while Stanley's family preserves Harvor's education and helps recover his stolen inheritance. Their later dragon–wyvern hierarchy reinforces rather than creates that loyalty. Stanley devotes One Gang to Harvor's rise, and his death triggers the champion's full transformation and loss of restraint.

Gary Dem

Harvor first sees Gary as a potentially entertaining rival and later as proof that another King will inevitably challenge him. He nearly kills Gary in their first encounter, pursues his group, and uses Xin to guarantee a rematch. Gary's coalition defeats him twice, and Gary consumes his body after death. Harvor consequently becomes both Gary's public benchmark—the champion whose defeat defines Gary's fame—and a literal source of the dragon resistance and transformation used in later wars.

Jayden Tiger and Xin Clove

Jayden challenges Harvor for personal justice, scars him, and forces the champion to display more of his human limits than any earlier AFC opponent. Harvor defeats and later kills him during the pursuit from Strifehold. Xin's revenge attacks damage the Zodiacs, after which Harvor makes her leverage against Gary. The siblings expose the moral emptiness of his sporting language: he calls elemental attacks too dangerous for the ring while treating captivity and lethal retaliation as legitimate exercises of a King's power.

Rumper and NIRV

NIRV creates Harvor's dragon form and employs him as a Retriever, while Rumper later uses One Gang to distribute infected solutions without the institution's full consent. Their alliance is transactional. Harvor knows Rumper's product is dangerous and despises what it does to weaker users, but protects the operation because it expands his power. Rumper, in turn, gives him the final capsule because Harvor is the shield keeping both of them beyond White Rose's reach. The dose briefly strengthens Harvor while destroying what remains of his independent identity.

The One Gang and opposing coalition

Harvor inspires genuine loyalty among Stanley and the Zodiacs, offers defeated fighters a place if he considers them useful, and trains the wider gang to value physical excellence. He does not extend equal respect to their roles, seeing himself as the indispensable center. Daphne, Chen, Kai, Dean, Rickle, and the Howlers defeat him by contributing incompatible specialties that no one of them possesses alone. Their alliance is the relationship he cannot form: cooperation among people who do not need to submit to the strongest participant.
