About the novel
My Werewolf System follows Gary Dem, a struggling sixteen-year-old in Slough who wants the security and prestige associated with Altereds. A mysterious bite instead gives him a Werewolf System that demands secrecy, consumption, and control over instincts he does not understand. Protecting his mother and sister draws him deeper into school violence and the local gangs rather than away from them.
Gary and Kai form the Howlers, initially as a way to survive the Underdogs and then as a chosen family capable of controlling Slough. The AFA, rival gangs, hidden packs, vampires, and the progenitor behind the curse reveal that Altered society is only one layer of the conflict. Gary's increasing authority repeatedly tests whether protection can remain distinct from domination when violence is the language every surrounding institution respects.
World and transformations
Altereds use formulas based on powerful creatures to transform their bodies and gain specialized abilities. Corporations, gangs, academies, and professional fighters regulate access to those transformations, making money and organization as important as talent. Qi offers another source of internal strength that can reinforce combat without requiring an Altered form.
Gary's System tracks levels, stats, classes, skills, energy, quests, and pack relationships. Moon phases, feeding, evolution, Alpha bonds, and control of territory affect his werewolf abilities. Other packs and vampires follow older supernatural rules not fully represented by his interface, so advancing beyond the System's expectations requires understanding lineage, instinct, and the responsibilities created by bonds that can influence another person's will.
