Jayden Tiger

Jayden Tiger, whose real name is Jayden Clove, is Xin Clove's older brother, an elite AFC fighter, and one of Gary Dem's earliest protectors and mentors. His public identity as the cheerful White Tiger conceals a campaign against NIRV and Harvor, whom he holds responsible for his wife's murder. Jayden repeatedly gives Gary shelter, instruction, and a standard to pursue, but refuses to bring the younger fighter into his private war before Gary can survive it. His final choice is the opposite of the revenge that drove his AFC career: wounded and unable to defeat Harvor, he sacrifices himself to keep Xin, Gary, and Slough alive.

Biography

Xin's champion and an unexpected act of shelter

At twenty-five, Jayden is already a top-fifty AFC fighter, model, and celebrity, while his younger sister is still trying to live one ordinary year at school. He returns to the Clove home between professional commitments and spars with Xin in the family's gym, avoiding or checking her attacks without humiliating her and praising the strength she has genuinely developed. His teasing rule that anyone who dates her should first beat him expresses an overprotective streak, but his training also gives Xin a real model of strength she can pursue for herself. The siblings are close enough that his visits make the guarded Clove estate feel like home to her, even though his public stage surname keeps their relationship hidden. (Chapter 35)

Jayden's protective instinct extends beyond his family before he has any reason to favor Gary. While searching for Xin on the night of Gary's first full-moon transformation, he finds the exhausted, naked teenager beside the road. Gary lies about having been bullied, but Jayden does not press him; he supplies clothes, brings him to his hotel penthouse, leaves the refrigerator open to him, and offers a blunt piece of advice about changing his own life instead of waiting for circumstances to improve. Jayden does not know that the meat in the refrigerator is keeping Gary's Energy from reaching zero, or that proximity to an elite Altered makes the frightened werewolf feel safer. The kindness is therefore not calculated mentorship, yet it helps Gary survive his first uncontrolled night and gives him an early example of power used without demanding payment. (Chapters 87–88)

The two meet again when a red-colour gang kidnaps Xin. Jayden detests gangs and goes through their contacts with little concern for the fear or injuries he causes, while Gary independently tracks Xin to the same cabin. Mistaking Gary's black-and-gold uniform for the kidnappers' colors, Jayden attacks him hard enough to break his arms; only after the mask falls does he recognize the teenager he sheltered. Gary's willingness to fight for Xin wins Jayden's attention, and the two enter together. Jayden's roar and ranged claw strikes disable the captors, but he lets Gary stop Riv and then warns him not to become worse than the people he hates. When the Grey Elephants arrive, Jayden uses reputation rather than massacre: he makes the larger gang release Tiffany because Xin asks, and the organization submits rather than risk fighting him. The rescue leaves Xin's parents determined to confine her again. Jayden initially agrees that Slough is unsafe and admits he cannot always be present, but he also refuses to make protection the end of her freedom. He proposes the AFA and Alterification as a route by which Xin can defend herself, explicitly leaving the irreversible choice to her. Xin accepts, and Jayden's solution changes the direction of her life: his power has rescued her from one immediate threat, while his respect for her agency gives her a path out of permanent dependence on that rescue. Measuring Gary and accepting the Howlers

When Gary visits the Clove household, Jayden alternates between teasing prospective brother-in-law and careful examiner. Jayden accepts the account because Slough has improved, not because he has stopped distrusting organized power. Their ensuing spar makes the difference between public sport and real Altered combat concrete. Jayden's White Tiger body changes less dramatically than Gary's full werewolf form, but a light paw contact backed by wind hits like a cannon and takes a large portion of Gary's Health. Jayden glides across the ground, changes direction with bursts of air, uses torn concrete to obstruct Gary's view, and cuts him from several meters away with nearly invisible wind strikes. Gary's hearing lets him notice disturbances in the air, and his resilience surprises Jayden, but he cannot close the gap consistently or endure the full exchange. The defeat gives Gary a realistic measure of the world beyond Slough; Jayden, in turn, sees growth worth encouraging rather than a dangerous novice who must be stopped. (Chapters 319–320)

Jayden later visits the AFA's special lesson and lets two teams of elite students attack him for fifteen minutes. He exposes the danger of relying on televised AFC footage, because the league forbids elemental or active attributes such as his wind. Rather than simply displaying superiority, he critiques the students' failure to share information, rewards the limited teamwork they manage, and shows how wind can redirect acid, create walls, cut armor, and prevent a grappler from completing a slam. He privately judges that Gary's physical form could one day dominate the AFC, yet warns through the lesson that outside the ring special abilities and experienced enemies make bodily strength alone inadequate. On the rooftop afterward, Jayden allows the public confidence to drop. He says there are matters involving the academy, AFC, gangs, his family, and Xin that he wants to discuss, but refuses Gary's immediate offer of help because the student has not reached his level. His request—grow strong enough to stand beside him—both protects Gary and quietly admits that Jayden wants a confidant capable of sharing his burden. Gary promises to reach him and forms a Bond Mark with “Jayden Clove.” Jayden leaves with a joke about blessing a future relationship with Xin, but the encounter establishes a serious compact that Gary later regrets not fulfilling sooner. Jasmine's death and a career built toward revenge

The source of Jayden's private strain is his wife, Jasmine. Before entering the AFC, Jayden was already Altered and worked for White Rose, while Jasmine worked for NIRV. After she discovered something the corporation wanted hidden, NIRV used Retrievers and the One Gang to silence her; Jayden's later infiltration of NIRV records identifies Harvor as the killer. Kanu, Jasmine's brother and Jayden's brother-in-law, pursues what justice he can through White Rose, but neither man has evidence or institutional support sufficient to move openly against NIRV and a King. Jayden visits Jasmine's grave every two weeks and continues to grieve with an intensity that time has not reduced. His smiling interviews and playful public manner are a performance; Kanu can see the pain beneath them and fears that Jayden is repeating Jasmine's insistence that he knows what he is doing. Jayden declines an invitation to return to White Rose because official work has not brought them closer to the people behind the killing. He considers asking Gary for help, especially after watching the Howlers improve Slough, but decides that involving someone still unable to survive his enemies would be another misuse of the protective relationship he values. That choice creates a painful contradiction. Kanu finally tells Gary the history because he believes Gary may be the one person able to pull Jayden out. Gary initially respects Jayden's decision to settle the match on his own, reasoning that unsolicited intervention would erase the years of effort that created the opportunity. That restraint also reveals the cost of Jayden's secrecy: Gary and Xin know enough to fear disaster, yet not enough to coordinate with him before he enters Harvor's city. Jayden reaches the title match at AFC rank 22, having already decided that he will use everything if a killing chance appears, even if it ends his career. (Chapters 970–975, 961–962, and 987)

The Harvor match and a protector's last stand

Jayden begins the match against Harvor in human form, using studied timing and a Dempsey roll to become the first AFC fighter shown knocking the champion to the canvas. His motive surfaces when he demands that Harvor remember Jasmine's name. Harvor soon overwhelms him with speed and strength beyond what Jayden's senses can follow, then deliberately invokes Jasmine while beating him. Jayden responds by assuming his White Tiger state. The transformation lets him track Harvor, contest his strength, and combine athletic movement with years of technique, but it still does not decisively overcome the champion's untransformed body. Anger finally draws out the wind powers forbidden by AFC rules. A projected claw cuts Harvor's forearms and makes him bleed; wind gathered around Jayden's limbs then accelerates his charges, deepens his blows into cutting vortices, and sends slashes through the reinforced cage. Jayden accepts disqualification because the title was never his true objective. Harvor counters the strongest double-fist charge by meeting it with greater physical force, dispersing the gathered wind and slamming Jayden until his transformation collapses. He publicly frames Jayden as a dangerous rule-breaker, has restraints placed on him, and then offers him a place in the One Gang. Gary's intervention prevents Harvor from executing him immediately. Xin and the Howlers enter the arena, and Jayden forces himself back into partial transformation long enough to kill a Zodiac attacking his sister. The attempted rescue escalates until Harvor reveals his dragon form and incapacitates Gary. Faced with the power he had never been able to measure, Jayden recognizes that his revenge has drawn Xin, Gary, and strangers into a battle they cannot win. Jayden then makes the final choice himself. He reasons that leading Harvor to the newly rebuilt Slough would endanger the city, his father, and everyone who intervened because of him. Wounded and still recovering, he says goodbye to Xin, entrusts her protection to the people she chose, and asks her to tell Gary that he would have made a good brother. He leaps from the moving vehicle in White Tiger form, releases wind slashes stronger than any he used in the arena, and recognizes that the desire to protect has drawn out more force than his anger did. The attacks cut Harvor's dragon scales and drive him off course long enough for the others to escape. Jayden is last seen fighting on the dragon before both fall into the river; Harvor then fires a massive golden beam, and later chapters treat Jayden's death as established even though the escapees do not witness a recovered body. The sacrifice saves the immediate group but leaves consequences Jayden had tried to prevent. Xin first attempts a solitary campaign against the Zodiacs, while Gary carries guilt that he reached Jayden's level too late and eventually makes the war with Harvor personal. Appearance and personality

In human form, Jayden is handsome enough to work as a model as well as a fighter. He has clear skin, a chiseled but somewhat feminine face, naturally dark eyes and eyelashes that resemble eyeliner, and a heavily trained, muscular body. At twenty-five he is only somewhat taller than the teenage Gary, but his definition and controlled movement reveal professional conditioning. His public presentation is polished and usually cheerful, and “Tiger” is a stage surname chosen to match the Altered form while protecting the Clove family's connection to him. His White Tiger transformation covers his skin with fine white fur and adds black markings down the face, narrowed yellow eyes, sharp teeth, claws, and longer hair that changes from ashy gray to white. His shoulders and paws enlarge, but his outline remains more humanoid and changes less radically than many full beast forms. The result is described as unusually beautiful rather than grotesque, which supports both his modeling career and the celebrity image built around the form. (Chapters 211, 319, and 1003)

Jayden is playful, generous, and capable of putting frightened younger people at ease, but he uses teasing to conceal how closely he watches them. He is especially protective of Xin and can become terrifyingly violent when she is threatened. At his best, that protectiveness respects her independence: he trains her, offers Alterification as her decision, and eventually acknowledges the friends she chose as people capable of standing beside her. At his worst, fear makes him hide the danger surrounding his revenge and participate in keeping her sheltered.

Jasmine's death divides his personality into a convincing public performance and a private fixation. Jayden can analyze opponents patiently, hold back precisely against students, and reconsider his hatred of gangs after observing the Howlers, yet he cannot release the need to confront Harvor himself. His final stand does not erase that error. Powers and abilities

Jayden is an elite Altered whose body is based on a mythical White Tiger and whose special attribute is control of wind. Wind manipulation

Wind is an innate special attribute of Jayden's Altered form. He produces it through transformed roars, paw contact, limb swings, open palms, kicks, and currents gathered around his fists or claws. A roar can carry concussive force across a room while its sound hurts Gary's enhanced hearing. A paw that only touches Gary lightly releases enough pressure to send him flying, and wind wrapped around a punch or kick multiplies its impact. His cutting applications operate at range. Hand swings launch nearly invisible claw-shaped currents that cut flesh, weapons, armor, and reinforced cage metal; concentrating wind around a direct strike turns the surrounding vortex into additional slashes. The power is potent but not unavoidable or unlimited. Wind attacks distort fur and make sounds that Gary's senses can notice, allowing him to anticipate a wall or ranged slash; sufficient physical force can cut through or disrupt the current. Harvor disperses Jayden's strongest gathered attack by striking both fists directly, and even the final amplified slashes only wound and redirect the dragon rather than defeat him. He trains and teases her, rescues her from the red-colour gang, and opens the path to the AFA when their parents would confine her. His fear of another family grave later causes him to hide the war against Harvor and support restrictions that deny her the information needed to choose for herself. At the end, he recognizes that she has become strong, just, and surrounded by people she selected; entrusting her to that circle is his final movement from solitary protector to brother willing to accept her independence.

Gary Dem

Jayden shelters Gary after the first full moon without knowing what he is, then repeatedly becomes his rescuer, examiner, opponent, and mentor. Gary changes Jayden's belief that all gangs are inherently corrupt, while Jayden teaches Gary that public Altered competition hides the true danger of elemental abilities and asks him to grow strong enough to become a confidant. Their promise is fulfilled too late to save Jayden, but his last message accepts Gary as the brother he would have wanted and entrusts Xin's future to him.

Jasmine and Kanu

Jasmine is Jayden's wife and Kanu's sister. Her killing by Harvor on NIRV's behalf gives Jayden's Retriever work and AFC career their concealed purpose. Kanu shares the grief and investigation but favors building a case through White Rose, while Jayden pursues direct access to the killer. They remain close enough that Jayden asks Kanu to free Gary at any cost, yet Kanu cannot persuade him to abandon the final match.

Harvor

Harvor is both Jasmine's killer and the institutional obstacle at the summit of Jayden's AFC path. Jayden spends years reaching him and gives up his public career the moment wind offers a better chance to kill him. Harvor's strength renders that revenge unsuccessful, but Jayden leaves him permanently scarred and saves the people he pursues. The conflict exposes the difference between them: Harvor seeks stronger opponents for excitement, while Jayden's greatest force emerges only when he stops centering the killer and protects others.
