Luzen
Luzen is an elite Ironfang and the most feared vampire hunter of his generation. His enhanced senses and adaptive beast-weapon bow make him a specialist in pursuit, but the fall of Lupus's pack forces him to decide what his loyalty is meant to preserve. He surrenders to the Howlers, becomes their tracker, and ultimately follows Lupus into hiding after Unzoku's defeat.
Biography
The Ironfang's vampire hunter
Luzen is deployed whenever conflict between werewolves and vampires requires a decisive hunter, and vampires are instructed to flee rather than face him. He is credited with more vampire deaths than any other werewolf of the current generation. During a hunt in the Botanical Gardens, he reveals a bow unfamiliar even to enemies who know his reputation. He pursues Blackjack's group with invisible arrows and spectral wolves, shifting between human and werewolf forms as range demands. Their counterattacks kill allies and tear away parts of his body, but his healing and tracking keep the hunt active until the wider conflict changes the battlefield. (Chapters 1291–1310)
During the old pack's attack on Slough, Luzen follows his orders and threatens the Howlers' unpowered back line from range. Innu isolates him so Austin can escape, then realizes that a straight fight favors Luzen's strength, senses, stamina, and bow. Innu leads him through an evacuated building, uses a fire alarm to overload his hearing, damages structural supports during the chase, and collapses the tower. Luzen survives, but the trap removes him from the decisive battle. When Ylva is killed and the pack continues fighting without a viable path to victory, Luzen returns as the strongest surviving Ironfang, kills one dissenter, and orders surrender to prevent further deaths. (Chapters 1386–1422, 1513–1514)
Howler service and chosen exile
Luzen volunteers to be the first old-pack member transferred through Xin Clove's Luna authority, reasoning that the others will follow him and that pack rules will guarantee their loyalty. He then helps the Howlers conceal the missing Alphas, investigates the destruction of the Dark Guild, and restrains his instinct to attack vampires when Xin forbids giving them a reason for war. In the Glutton crisis he destroys his own bow to kill a shark-like monster, then proves that the weapon never defined his reputation by tracking Unzoku's army to Tower Land without it. He stays near the temporarily powerless Lupus during the final battle. After victory, Luzen and Slit choose to accompany Lupus into hiding, repaying their former leader with loyalty even though the old pack will not be rebuilt. (Chapters 1515–1785, 1798–1841)
Appearance and personality
Luzen is a scruffy man whose clothes are often reduced to torn coverings around his waist and neck with boots below. He has a wild mass of hair, an unkempt beard, exposed skin, and a flat or nearly dead expression. Vampires joke that he must have been raised by wolves because both his appearance and silence seem removed from ordinary society. (Chapters 1291–1293)
He is intense, unsentimental, and deeply shaped by pack hierarchy. Luzen can speak with dry humor, but even allies find his thin smile and readiness to use pain unsettling. He also has strategic restraint: he accepts surrender when continued resistance would waste the pack, recommends misinformation to deter vampires, follows Xin's political order despite prejudice, and scouts Unzoku rather than seeking an unnecessary solo fight.
Powers and abilities
Hunter-type werewolf physiology
Luzen has the enhanced strength, speed, stamina, healing, claws, senses, and transformation of an elite hunter-type werewolf. His smell distinguishes trails through cities and wilderness, while his hearing detects thrown weapons and minute movement. In full form his limbs lengthen without becoming as bulky as a power-focused werewolf, preserving agility for pursuit. Werewolf claws interfere with vampire healing, and Luzen can recover from torn skin and powerful explosives that would kill a human. The corpus does not give his formal class screen, level, or exact transformation cost. (Chapters 1291–1300, 1417–1422)
His senses can be countered rather than simply overpowered. Innu uses the deafening fire alarm to reduce Luzen's hearing toward ordinary-human effectiveness, and enclosed rooms limit both tracking precision and the space needed for ranged attacks. Luzen still adapts through experience, so these counters create openings rather than removing his abilities. After losing his bow, he remains the Howlers' best tracker and locates Tower Land while avoiding thousands of Gluttons. (Chapters 1417–1422, 1808–1823)
Adaptive beast-weapon bow
Luzen's high-tier bow requires no physical arrows or quiver. In human form, drawing its string fires silent, invisible, high-tension projectiles that punch through bodies, trees, blood attacks, and mutated flesh. They travel along the line of fire rather than curving, so an opponent who watches Luzen's aim can predict and block them. The rigid frame also functions as a close-range guard. The source does not establish who forged the bow, when Luzen received it, or the energy that creates the projectiles; his first appearance shows that even he is still testing some of its features. (Chapters 1291–1293, 1417–1419, 1724–1728)
In werewolf form, the bow reacts to Luzen's aura and produces glowing spectral wolves instead of purely kinetic arrows. The constructs pursue a chosen target and bite with enough force to injure, but direct attacks can break them apart. Luzen switches forms mid-combination—spirit wolves occupy a target, his transformed body attacks up close, and human-form arrows finish from range. This versatility is strongest in open terrain; tight interiors and sensory overload let Innu deny the preferred spacing. (Chapters 1292–1293, 1417–1422, 1798)
The bow's latest state is destroyed. A shark-like Glutton catches it in its jaws; Luzen fires repeatedly down the creature's throat, killing it internally, but the bite shatters the weapon beyond repair. Luzen thereafter relies on tracking, claws, and ordinary werewolf combat. (Chapters 1798, 1821–1826)
Pack knowledge and field command
As an Ironfang leader, Luzen understands pack transfer, Luna authority, hunting formations, and the political danger posed by vampires. He uses that knowledge to organize surrender, make himself the first willing transfer, and convince the surviving wolves to follow. He can advise strategy and command obedience through reputation, but he is not a Bookkeeper and does not possess complete ancestral knowledge. (Chapters 1513–1517)
Relationships
Lupus
Luzen serves Lupus as an Ironfang and remains personally loyal after the pack loses its war and territorial power. Lupus later orders him to remain with the Howlers because his skills are more useful there. Luzen obeys until the final victory, then voluntarily follows Lupus into exile so his former leader will not bear that fate alone.
Innu
Innu is the human opponent who defeats Luzen through environment and planning rather than greater physical power. Luzen respects the challenge enough to ask for future sparring after joining the Howlers, while Innu admits that forcing him into confined space was the only reason the tactic succeeded.
Xin Clove and the Howlers
Xin accepts Luzen into the Howlers and becomes the Luna whose commands bind his new allegiance. Luzen tests the group's softer ethics but also supports them with information, tracking, and veteran judgment. His willingness to obey her refusal to attack vampires marks his development from pack weapon to subordinate in a broader coalition.
Items
Luzen's signature high-tier bow creates different attacks in human and werewolf forms. It is destroyed beyond repair while killing a shark-like Glutton in Chapter 1798 and has no finalized standalone item page in the supplied inventory.
