Endless Starlight
Endless Starlight is a Defender, one of Lone Desert Smoke's earliest specialist tanks, and Zhang Yang's long-serving secondary tank. Zhang meets and recruits him while exploring the ruined centaur castle in the Centaur Holy Land, after which Starlight leads secondary dungeon groups, helps manage the first sub-guild, and gains the B-class King Kong Inheritance, allowing him to replace Zhang as a transformation-grade boss tank when encounters require alternating defensive anchors. (Chapters 143–145, 320, 589, 603, and 643–644)
Biography
Lone Desert Smoke and Soaring Swords
Zhang first remembers Endless Starlight from the previous timeline as a capable and unusually loyal dungeon tank. Although one memory calls his mechanical skills fairly average and another describes him as sought by three super guilds, the shared point is that he refuses transfer offers because he values his small guild; the larger guilds then harass that community into disbanding, after which he deletes his account in despair. In the new timeline, Zhang treats that foreknowledge as a reason to recruit and protect a useful player before the same conflict can develop. (Chapters 6 and 143)
The present-day Starlight appears as an unaffiliated Level 38 Dwarf Defender after chasing Daffodil Daydream's legs over a cliff and causing both of them to die near the ruined centaur castle in the Centaur Holy Land. His foolish explanation, immediate rapport with Fatty Han, and enthusiasm for a guild containing attractive women establish his comic role, but Zhang also sees the tank beneath the behavior. When Starlight admits that random parties have left him unable to improve his poor equipment, Zhang offers him command of Lone Desert Smoke's planned second dungeon team; moved by the trust, he accepts the guild invitation during the castle expedition. (Chapters 143–144)
The early raids rapidly turn that promise into a working role. Zhang gives him the Seal of the Empire shield rather than keeping the upgrade, raising Starlight's Defense above Zhang's at that moment and substantially improving his HP and aggression generation. Starlight privately resolves to make the second team succeed in repayment. He then survives dangerous area damage longer than the party's ordinary attackers, uses Sacred Protection and Sacred Heal before falling, and shares tank damage during first-clear attempts while Zhang handles the main aggression. (Chapters 145, 152, 154, 157, and 173)
As Lone Desert Smoke expands, Starlight becomes a dependable specialist rather than a duplicate of Zhang. He leads dungeon work that frees the core group to hunt field bosses, kites ten Flame Acolytes with Sacred Protection and Devotion, and holds separate bosses when a fight requires two tanks. Zhang later assigns him and Fatty Han to establish the first sub-guild and preserve its dungeon progress. The joke that pretty women persuade him to transfer does not erase the administrative trust: the guild entrusts a large intake of recruits and its secondary exploration structure to the pair. (Chapters 196, 228, 314, and 320)
Regional War and World Competition
Starlight's role in the regional phase remains defensive and organizational. He withstands knockback that scatters lesser tanks, helps hold guild battle lines, and continues taking split-boss assignments where his Defender magic resistance and aggression tools are preferable to another damage dealer. At the same time, the party sometimes benches him when an encounter needs only one tank, and he accepts the change without complaint. This makes his value encounter-dependent: indispensable for divided targets, add control, or a backup anchor, but an inefficient slot when pure damage determines success. (Chapters 184, 424–425, 482, and 575)
After reaching the relevant high-level map, Starlight activates the linking quest for the B-class King Kong Inheritance. Zhang's party spends about a month helping him, Hundred Shots, and Galileo complete their Inheritances because repeated wipes force them to wait through seventy-two-hour transformation cooldowns. The acquisition pays off against Hachilles: after another transformed tank expires, Starlight becomes a giant King Kong, holds the boss, and uses Blood Feed to restore himself while draining the target, proving that he can anchor an open-world boss that ordinary gear alone cannot sustain. (Chapters 565, 589, and 602–603)
His transformation then becomes part of the party's rotation rather than a novelty. He tanks the Mist Skeleton King with more than six million HP and little healer attention, carries the same transformation into subsequent monster pulls, and later chains Vanguard's Aggression after Zhang's two consecutive barriers to give the group thirty seconds of extreme party protection. Equipment continues to matter even after inheritance: he receives the Ethereal shield from Daffodil's quest boss, and he and Mountain Mover lead Red Garnet Palace exploration while Zhang's championship team is occupied elsewhere. (Chapters 636 and 643–650)
During the world-competition era, Starlight is not identified as a starting member of Silky Soft's championship lineup; his documented responsibility remains the guild's raids and open-world operations. Superior Devotion lets him solve timed debuff mechanics by slowing enemies through proximity, he holds bosses while Zhang handles adds, and he is trusted to continue a refinery push when Zhang logs out. Near the end of the corpus he kites a major boss away from ordinary players, participates in the exhausting Maya battle, and remains present to react to Zhang's final Celestial-tier kill, establishing an active endgame state even outside the tournament roster. (Chapters 730, 759, 796, 826, 847, and 850)
Appearance and personality
Endless Starlight's avatar is a male Dwarf and is described beside Fatty Han as the skinny member of an odd pair. He calls his own face handsome, but the narration does not independently confirm that boast, and the supplied corpus does not provide a reliable description of his real-world appearance. King Kong Transformation replaces the armored Dwarf silhouette with an enormous golden-furred gorilla whose armor, hammer, and shield visually fuse into its body. Starlight is talkative, lewd, excitable, and easily frightened into comic complaints, yet also grateful, loyal, understanding about being benched, willing to carry secondary leadership, and focused enough to execute demanding tank assignments. (Chapters 143–145, 154, 235, 320, 575, 603, and 643–644)
Abilities and gameplay
Endless Starlight is a shield-bearing Defender whose strength is controlled survival: he holds aggression, groups or separates enemies, resists magic better than a Guardian, and uses emergency immunity or party-protection cooldowns to bridge lethal mechanics. His B-class King Kong Inheritance adds transformation-scale health, defense, attack, magic avoidance, and conditional self-healing, but his damage and threat ceiling remain below Zhang's. (Chapters 144, 228, 424–425, 603–604, 643–644, and 682)
Defender kit
Devotion is a persistent or timed damaging aura used to gather monsters and create aggression around Starlight. It can reveal or immediately tag a boss that disappears into a crowd and lasts ten seconds in the early demonstrated form, but its damage and threat are lower than Zhang's Thunder Strike. After Devotion tags a large wave of orcs, Saint Storm follows with heavy area damage and aggression, securing the entire crowd on Starlight so the party's Phoenixes can destroy it safely; the corpus does not publish Saint Storm's range, cost, or cooldown. Superior Devotion, learned from a later skill book, adds a 50% movement-speed reduction to the damage-over-time aura, allowing Starlight to delay enemies simply by staying close; it supplies area control but not a separately aimed ranged slow. (Chapters 228, 314, 682, and 730)
Sacred Protection grants invulnerability and later demonstrates both debuff removal and a ten-second duration. Earlier scenes show only five seconds, indicating that the skill improves or is extended during progression rather than having one static early-game value. It is his primary emergency answer to focused fire, unavoidable pulses, and stacking debuffs, but once it expires he has no equivalent to Zhang's Shadow of the Void for safely clearing aggression and leaving combat. Sacred Heal is an emergency self-heal used with Sacred Protection; the corpus does not give its numerical recovery or cooldown. (Chapters 157, 214, 228, and 730)
Sanction is the Defender's close-range damaging aura and benefits from the class's innate affinity for magic-based tanking. Shield Toss supplies a ranged opening hit, and ordinary shield attacks and Defender threat multipliers let Starlight establish or maintain aggression even when his one-handed damage is modest. Against extremely high-output allies, however, that threat is not absolute: Zhang can nearly overtake him while attacking without a shield, and the party's strongest damage dealers need threat-clearing tools or restraint. (Chapters 424–425, 644, and 759)
Vanguard's Aggression creates a three-by-three-meter barrier for ten seconds. Allies inside take 90% less damage, while Starlight takes 100% more; the skill has a ten-second cooldown, so survival still depends on his own mitigation and healer support. In a late boss finish, he chains his cast after Zhang's two casts to give the party thirty uninterrupted seconds of protection. This is powerful group defense, but the doubled incoming damage can kill the caster under concentrated attacks. (Chapters 76–77 and 650)
His normal applications include initial add pickup, split-tanking paired bosses, separating enemies whose debuffs stack, and replacing Zhang on the main target while Zhang controls adds. His limitations are equally explicit: Defender damage is low enough that a second tank can hurt a damage race; weaker equipment once required the stronger healer; and at the highest tier, holding aggression against transformed or exceptionally geared attackers demands constant skill use. (Chapters 173, 228, 425, 575, 644, 759, 773, and 796)
King Kong Inheritance
Starlight obtains the B-class King Kong Inheritance after activating its high-level linking quest and clearing the final encounter with Zhang's party. The transformation multiplies maximum HP by twenty, Defense by three, and Attack by three, while providing 70% magic immunity; Starlight's own calculation raises about 130,000 mounted HP to roughly 2.6 million, and later gear pushes him above six million. It lasts two hours and has a seventy-two-hour cooldown, making acquisition and repeated boss attempts costly whenever the group wipes. (Chapters 478, 565, 589, 602–603, and 643)
King Kong Transformation makes Starlight a colossal gorilla. His equipped hammer and shield fuse visually into the form, but their functions remain: he attacks with punches and kicks and blocks with his left arm as though using the shield. The scale of the health and defense increase lets him survive bosses with little healing and pull many elite monsters at once. He can even remain mounted, though the resulting mismatch between the giant form and Black Rhino is played for comedy rather than treated as a mechanical penalty. (Chapters 603 and 643–644)
Blood Feed, which Starlight nicknames King Kong Om Nom Nom, drains 1% of a target's HP each second and heals him for five times the HP drained. Damage is capped at 20,000 per second and the uninterrupted channel lasts ten seconds, so the demonstrated maximum damage is 200,000 while the corresponding healing can be much larger. It is a strong percentage-based emergency heal against high-HP bosses, but the cap limits its damage and an interruption would end its full value. (Chapter 603)
The transformed form also demonstrates a stomp-like area attack that slows nearby enemies, allowing Starlight to kite elite packs, but the corpus does not provide its formal name, numerical damage, radius, resource cost, or cooldown. Nor does it publish a complete King Kong skill sheet beyond the transformation and Blood Feed. The latest supported assessment is therefore narrower than a speculative full build: Starlight has transformation-grade tank statistics, an exceptional boss-drain heal, and an observed area slow, while any additional inheritance abilities remain unknown. (Chapters 603–604 and 644)
King Kong is a strong B-class tank Inheritance, not an unconditional replacement for higher grades. It has more attack and a better life-saving skill than Petrification but less defense; a Defender also has only 15% physical damage immunity, leaving healers under heavy pressure against level-suppressed bosses. Even transformed, Starlight's one-handed damage can struggle to hold aggression against Zhang, and after the two-hour duration ends he immediately loses the expanded health pool and may require Sacrifice from other tanks to survive the transition. (Chapters 603–604 and 644)
Interactions and latest state
Starlight works best in planned alternation with Zhang. One tank transforms while the other deals damage or manages adds, and their Vanguard's Aggression casts can be sequenced to extend party protection. Zhang's Surrogacy can also connect their defenses and use whichever character has the higher Defense, making a transformed Starlight a temporary source of enhanced mitigation without merging their separate HP pools. (Chapters 643, 650, and 755)
By the final raid phase, Superior Devotion, Sacred Protection, high-tier defensive equipment, and King Kong Transformation let him kite world-event bosses and tank through long dungeon progressions. He remains vulnerable to cooldown gaps, damage-race composition decisions, extreme level suppression, and allies who generate threat faster than his one-handed attacks. The story does not provide a final exhaustive equipment sheet, so his exact endgame statistics are unknown. (Chapters 730, 759, 773, 796, 826, 847, and 850)

Relationships
- Zhang Yang: His recruiter, guild leader, and tanking counterpart. Zhang gives him the early shield and second-team responsibility that secure his loyalty, later helps obtain King Kong, and alternates main-target and add-control duties with him. (Chapters 143–144, 154, 589, 643, and 796)
- Fatty Han: His closest comic partner and fellow first-sub-guild officer. They bond immediately over women, trade jokes throughout the story, and jointly support the guild's secondary dungeon structure. (Chapters 143–145, 320, 603, and 643)
- Daffodil Daydream: His accidental companion at recruitment and a lasting core teammate. Their association begins with an angry cliff-side death but develops into a functional attacker-and-tank partnership across years of raids. (Chapters 143–145, 228, 636, and 773)
- Han Ying Xue: The healer assigned to Starlight when his weaker equipment makes his damage intake greater than Zhang's. Her support remains important when level suppression or transformation-scale HP exceeds his self-healing. (Chapters 228, 425, 602–603, and 643)
- Wei Yan Er: A core teammate and recurring rival for heavy armor. They trade jokes and equipment rolls, while her enormous damage also tests his ability to hold aggression. (Chapters 647, 743, 773, and 780)
- Sun Xin Yu: An elite attacker who carefully clears her threat so he can continue tanking transformed bosses. Starlight praises the discipline even when his familiar address annoys her. (Chapter 644)
- Hundred Shots: A fellow senior guild member and dungeon organizer. They participate in the same inheritance-acquisition wave and later join Mountain Mover in deciding when Red Garnet Palace exploration must pause. (Chapters 589 and 636)
- Mountain Mover: His co-leader for Red Garnet Palace exploration and a fellow manager within Lone Desert Smoke's expanded structure. (Chapters 365 and 636)
- One Sword Stroke: A rival-guild Guardian and defensive peer. They appear near each other in the early tank rankings and later cooperate on China's front line during regional wars, holding shields together against foreign forces. (Chapters 236, 674, and 687)
- Fantasy Sweetheart: A core healer whose lower early output is assigned to Zhang while Han Ying Xue covers Starlight; later she supports the transformed party in endgame raids. (Chapters 425, 603, and 780)
- Lost Dream: A recurring raid and arena partner who shares the party's B-class inheritance tier but fills an offensive rather than defensive role. (Chapters 522, 589, and 650)
- Ten Dusk: A later guild tank and equipment competitor. Their shared dungeon duty illustrates Lone Desert Smoke's growth from relying on Starlight alone to maintaining several capable backup tanks. (Chapter 773)
Items
- Seal of the Empire: An early Gray-Silver shield given to Starlight by Zhang. It raises his Defense to 430, his HP above 5,800, and materially improves aggression generation, enabling him to lead the second dungeon team. (Chapter 154)
- Hammer of Sanctions: Starlight collects the weapon's fragments across the Blood Moon Castle campaign, reaching ten pieces before obtaining the final handle and paying 2,000 gold to assemble it. The result is a powerful Level 90 Violet-Platinum two-handed hammer with a chance to stun even qualifying bosses, but it is unusable for his shield-dependent Defender role because wielding it would occupy both hands. The party therefore gives it to Wei Yan Er, leaving Starlight to absorb both the assembly and identification costs. (Chapters 427–435)
- Ethereal inheritance-boss shield: A shield dropped by Daffodil's Soul Breaker quest boss and immediately assigned to Starlight for its defensive upgrade. The corpus does not state its name or complete attributes. (Chapter 636)
- Black Rhino: His large ground mount during the King Kong period. Transformation does not prevent him from riding it, although the giant gorilla form comically overwhelms the mount's scale. (Chapter 644)
- King Kong Inheritance fragments: The B-class keepsake and linking quest lead to Starlight's transformation kit. The corpus states that Zhang helps complete the acquisition but does not enumerate every fragment location for Starlight's present-timeline quest. (Chapters 565 and 589)
- The Guewitt's Shield: The Mythical shield belongs to Zhang Yang, not Starlight. Its high HP, Defense, absorption, and free Shield Bash on a successful Block are part of the main-tank loadout Starlight backs up. When the following boss needs only one tank, Zhang takes that slot and Starlight accepts the damage-focused composition without complaint; Starlight's own later upgrade is a separate Ethereal shield. (Chapters 565, 575, and 636)
