Daffodil Daydream

Daffodil Daydream is a Pyromancer, a long-serving member of Zhang Yang's core party, an appointed financial manager for Lone Desert Smoke, and a professional competitor for Silky Soft. Zhang first meets her at the ruined centaur castle in the Centaur Holy Land; after initially refusing his guild invitation, she joins Lone Desert Smoke and grows from a high-damage specialist into a hybrid damage-and-support spellcaster whose Recovery Aura and A-class Soul Breaker Inheritance become central to the party's late-game endurance. (Chapters 143–144, 175, 177–178, 450–456, and 635–637)

Biography

Centaur Holy Land, Thunderstorm Castle, and the Chaos Realm

Daffodil first appears as an unaffiliated Level 39 Human Pyromancer after falling from a cliff alongside Endless Starlight near the ruined centaur castle in the Centaur Holy Land. She is furious because his distraction cost her a field-boss kill, but accepts Zhang Yang's temporary party invitation and is surprised by the strength of the group behind several first clears. Zhang remembers her as a future member of China's Top 10 Spellcasters and immediately recognizes both her area damage and her potential as a professional core member. She refuses to enter Lone Desert Smoke while Starlight is there, then accepts a new invitation after the guild becomes the first in China to reach Level 2. (Chapters 143–144 and 175)

Joining Lone Desert Smoke gives Daffodil the stable party and equipment pipeline she had lacked while playing alone. Rain of Fire, which she says can handle seven or eight ordinary monsters by herself, becomes much more effective when Zhang safely holds larger pulls; against treants, her fire specialization makes her one of the team's most important attackers. (Chapters 144 and 186)

Her careful accounting also makes her important outside combat. Zhang notices that she already manages the guild's activity fund, tank equipment, repair expenses, and potion purchases with detailed records, so he offers her and Hundred Shots salaried positions as Lone Desert Smoke's Appointed Managers. After several days of weighing the risk, both quit their existing jobs and become full-time professional players. Daffodil takes charge as financial manager and immediately creates an old-equipment recycling campaign: members deposit unwanted gear for guild contribution points, allowing stronger players to recover value while newer members obtain upgrades through guild work rather than repeating the same dungeons. (Chapters 177–178)

By the Soaring Swords period, Daffodil is the permanent team's principal ranged burst specialist and its only spellcaster selected for the original professional lineup. In PvP she is willing to Apparate into an enemy back line to interrupt a healer with Counter Magic, accepting the risk of exposing a cloth-armored body until Zhang protects her with Sacrifice. At the team's first real-world meeting, her easy humor with the others and willingness to embarrass Fatty Han with a friendly kiss show that her earlier shyness does not prevent her from participating fully in the group's social life. (Chapters 255, 265, 273, and 276)

Her kit broadens during Thunderstorm Castle and the opening of the Chaos Realm. A charge from Zhang's Friendship Jade summons Smaug's shadow, whose victory over Snow White lets Daffodil learn Inferno; later she receives Recovery Aura and the Mythical Epicormic Branch of the Tree of Life. Those upgrades also make her a target: Royal Highness of Thunder kills and camps her in an attempt to steal the staff, taking her boots before Zhang and the guild recover them and declare The Myth kill-on-sight. (Chapters 289, 450–461, and 473)

Regional War and World Competition

Recovery Aura changes Daffodil's raid contribution from damage alone to party-wide sustain. She raises it from Level 1 to Level 4 with an Intermediate Aura Stone, and its steady HP and MP restoration prevents Han Ying Xue from exhausting her mana during a long boss fight. Her judgment follows the same team-first logic: she earlier yields a mana-restoring staff to Han because losing the healer would be worse than losing one attacker, and she later rejects physical or otherwise unsuitable Inheritances rather than taking a rare prize merely for its grade. (Chapters 448, 450, 454–456, 560, and 565)

That patience initially costs her in competition. She remains the only member of Zhang's seven-person competitive group without an Inheritance, and Silky Soft's first championship defeat is attributed in part to that gap even though she exceeds expectations. The team then wins the first fragment of an A-class Soul Breaker Inheritance for her; after she assembles its seven fragments and completes the quest boss with the party, the resulting magic-specific Inheritance removes the largest weakness in the lineup. (Chapters 619, 626, and 635–637)

The Soul Breaker kit makes Daffodil one of the party's transformation-grade attackers in wars and raids. The group schedules her two-hour transformation after another member's expires, while Soul Rupture supplies large-area Shadow damage and Soul Manipulation adds control. She still has to obey ordinary encounter limits: her Soul Breaker form does not allow mounting, long cooldowns make poor timing costly, and its flight does not protect her after her anti-control tools have been spent. Recovery Aura eventually reaches Level 10, although the corpus does not state its final numerical recovery. (Chapters 650, 683, 696, 743, and 780)

At the world championships, rules banning transformations and skills with cooldowns above thirty minutes prevent Daffodil from using much of the Inheritance's spectacular power, leaving its permanent damage bonus and shorter skills as the important competitive gains. Outside the arena she continues contributing tactical judgment, proposing that the party trade about ten percent damage for fifty percent Frost resistance through Ice Weaver equipment during a survival-focused boss attempt. Her last major tournament fight ends in an attrition loss to God's Left Hand, whose defense, HP, and repeated healing outlast her burst, demonstrating that exceptional damage does not itself solve sustained self-healing. (Chapters 765, 814, and 853)

Appearance and personality

Daffodil's Human avatar is a beautiful woman distinguished by long, slim legs; a later description gives her an oval, olive-skinned face and bright eyes. In person she is a cheerful woman in her mid-twenties whose approachable attractiveness earns second glances without the exaggerated perfection of some game avatars. She blushes and fidgets when embarrassed, especially around gifts or money, but can be bold in both jokes and combat. Her strongest consistent traits are practicality and consideration: she insists on paying identification fees, gives healer survival priority over her own damage, waits for an Inheritance suited to a spellcaster, and proposes defensive gearing when a raid needs endurance rather than spectacle. (Chapters 143, 196, 273, 276, 320, 448, 461, 560, and 814)

Abilities and gameplay

Daffodil begins as a conventional high-output Pyromancer, then develops two complementary secondary roles: passive party sustain through Recovery Aura and Shadow damage and control through the Soul Breaker Inheritance. She remains a lightly armored ranged character, so positioning, interruption timing, cooldown planning, and protection from her tanks are as important as raw spell power. (Chapters 143–144, 265, 450–456, and 635–637)

Pyromancer kit

Rain of Fire is her main area-clearing spell and can defeat seven or eight ordinary monsters in a solo pull, but it generates enough aggression to be dangerous without a capable tank. Fire Blast is an instant attack dealing 100% magic Fire damage at thirty-meter range on an eight-second cooldown. Explosive Flame deals 300% magic Fire damage at the same range, but requires a two-second cast and has a ten-second cooldown. Heart of Flame raises fire-spell damage by 10% for ten seconds on a three-minute cooldown, and she stacks it with consumables and equipment effects for burst windows. Fire-resistant targets substantially reduce the value of this specialization. (Chapters 143–144, 186, 226, and 265)

Counter Magic interrupts a cast and locks the associated skill tree for three seconds; it is instant, works at thirty meters, and has a thirty-second cooldown. Daffodil uses it defensively against enemy burst and offensively after Apparate places her beside a back-line healer. Apparate also serves as an escape or repositioning tool, but the demonstrated thirty-second cooldown prevents continuous mobility, and entering melee range exposes her weak cloth armor. The corpus does not state the skill's exact displacement distance. (Chapters 226, 265, 276, and 682)

Inferno is learned after the Friendship Jade's Smaug summon defeats Snow White. The supplied corpus records the acquisition but never provides Inferno's damage, area, cooldown, resource cost, or later progression, so its exact mechanics and importance within her rotation remain unknown. (Chapter 289)

Recovery Aura

Daffodil receives the Recovery Aura skill book after the party assigns it to the member who can best combine sustained mana use with group utility. At Level 1, the aura restores 100 HP and 30 MP every three seconds to party members within thirty meters. Only one aura can be active per user; it persists until Daffodil dies or dismisses it, so it is efficient in long fights but requires the party to remain in range and keep her alive. (Chapter 450)

An aura stone raises the skill from Level 3, where it restores 500 HP and 230 MP per tick, to Level 4, where it restores 800 HP and 300 MP. That steady recovery materially extends Han Ying Xue's healing endurance and can prevent a wipe even though each individual tick is modest beside late-game health pools. Daffodil later upgrades the aura to Level 10 with top-tier stones, but the final HP and MP values are not stated and should not be inferred from the earlier progression. (Chapters 454–456 and 780)

Soul Breaker Inheritance

Daffodil acquires the A-class Soul Breaker Inheritance by assembling seven fragments, completing prerequisite quests, and defeating its quest boss with a transformation-equipped party. Understanding of the Soul permanently raises damage by 45%, so the Inheritance improves her normal Pyromancer output even when long-cooldown abilities are barred. Soul Pierce deals 300% magic Shadow damage, stuns for five seconds, and has a one-minute cooldown, giving her a strong non-Fire attack and control option. (Chapters 636–637 and 765)

Soul Breaker Transformation raises HP by 3,000%, Attack and Defense by 400%, grants a 30% chance to nullify a magic attack, and generates one Soul Breaker Energy Point each second. It lasts two hours and has a seventy-two-hour cooldown. The transformation lets her absorb threats that would instantly kill an ordinary spellcaster and can fly, but it forces her off her mount; using it for the wrong encounter leaves the party without that power for three days, and tournament rules commonly prohibit it. (Chapters 637, 650, 683, 743, and 765)

While transformed, Soul Rupture deals Shadow damage equal to eight times Intelligence to every target in a 100-by-100-meter area for three Energy Points. Soul Manipulation spends ten Energy Points to control a target for five seconds, with each additional two points adding one second, and has a thirty-minute cooldown. Souls Substitute creates a harmless copy for ten seconds; damage dealt to the copy becomes healing for Daffodil, but the skill has a thirty-minute cooldown and depends on enemies attacking the substitute rather than ignoring it. Together these skills add area pressure, control, and conditional sustain, while their energy and cooldown requirements prevent unrestricted use. (Chapter 637)

Her representative late-game performance shows both progression and limits. A transformed Soul Rupture can clear large groups and her damage exceeds ordinary core attackers, but Soul Breaker's A-class output remains below the team's S-class transformations. In ordinary form she is comparable to Lost Dream, and in the fourth championship God's Left Hand defeats her by surviving and healing through her offense. Her latest demonstrated state therefore combines Level 10 Recovery Aura, the full published Soul Breaker kit, and elite Pyromancer damage, but not an answer to every attrition matchup. (Chapters 696, 731, 780, and 853)

Relationships

  • Zhang Yang: Her recruiter, employer, team leader, and principal protector. He identifies her future potential, brings her into the guild after her initial refusal, hires her as its financial manager, helps obtain her Inheritance, and retaliates when The Myth camps her body, while she repays that trust through professional, managerial, and raid commitment. (Chapters 143–144, 175, 177–178, 473, and 636)
  • Han Ying Xue: Her primary healer and support counterpart. Daffodil yields a mana staff to Han, while Recovery Aura later sustains Han's mana and makes the two women's functions mutually reinforcing. (Chapters 448 and 454–456)
  • Wei Yan Er: A close core teammate and fellow Silky Soft competitor. They share victories, equipment discussions, raid banter, and years of championship play. (Chapters 174, 255, 450, and 765)
  • Sun Xin Yu: A fellow elite damage dealer whose advice helps settle the Recovery Aura assignment. Their physical and magical burst roles complement each other in the permanent lineup. (Chapters 255, 450, and 765)
  • Hundred Shots: A fellow early recruit who develops alongside her into a professional core member. Both accept salaried Appointed Manager positions and quit their former jobs, with Daffodil managing guild finances while Hundred handles recruitment and discipline; they later help anchor the team's ranged damage. (Chapters 143, 177–178, 255, and 636)
  • Endless Starlight: Her accidental companion at first appearance and later long-term teammate. His pursuit causes their cliff fall and bitter first exchange, but they subsequently function together as the party's ranged attacker and secondary tank. (Chapters 143–145, 228, and 650)
  • Fatty Han: A teammate and frequent source of comic banter. Daffodil is comfortable enough to tease and embarrass him in person, while both supply ranged pressure in the core party. (Chapters 265, 273, and 603)
  • Fantasy Sweetheart: A later core healer and fellow member of the inheritance-equipped raid group. Daffodil's aura helps reduce the burden on both party healers. (Chapters 450, 619, 636, and 780)
  • Lost Dream: A fellow core attacker and a useful benchmark for her normal-state damage; her transformed output rises beyond his, but they remain complementary rather than interchangeable. (Chapters 636–637 and 731)
  • Snow Seeker: An allied guild leader who repeatedly raids and competes alongside Daffodil during cross-guild expeditions. (Chapters 228, 603, and 733)
  • Whitey: Zhang Yang's Gold-Eared Bear King and Daffodil's recurring early battle companion. Its melee pressure supplements her fire spells in team PvP rather than representing a pet she owns or controls. (Chapters 267 and 279)

Items

  • Epicormic Branch of the Tree of Life: Daffodil's Mythical magic staff, providing 5,778–6,478 Magic Attack, 20% more magic damage and healing, a 2% attack proc that heals for damage dealt, and a two-second Life Tree invulnerability activation. The corpus does not state the activation's cooldown. Its value is great enough to motivate The Myth's attempt to steal it. (Chapters 460–461 and 473)
  • Recovery Aura skill book and aura stones: The book permanently teaches Recovery Aura, while successive stones raise it to Level 4 and eventually Level 10; these are consumed progression materials rather than retained combat equipment. (Chapters 450, 454, and 780)
  • Soul Breaker Inheritance fragments: Seven fragments assembled into the A-class linking quest that grants her inheritance. They cease to be carried items once the acquisition process is complete. (Chapters 626 and 636–637)
  • Violet-Platinum Jade Necklace: A spellcaster necklace transferred to Daffodil by Han Ying Xue after the Recovery Aura decision. (Chapter 450)
  • Magician's Brooch: An accessory activated with Heart of Flame and a power potion during a Soaring Swords burst sequence; its exact independent effect is not stated in the supplied scene. (Chapter 265)
  • Friendship Jade: This item belongs to Zhang Yang, not Daffodil. Its Smaug shadow defeats Snow White during Thunderstorm Castle, and the resulting reward teaches Daffodil Inferno, making the jade directly relevant to her progression without becoming her possession. (Chapter 289)
