Wang Lin

Wang Lin, called Tie Zhu by his family, is the protagonist of Renegade Immortal. He begins as the scholarly son of a poor village household, carrying little natural aptitude but an enormous obligation to his parents. The destruction of that household turns his pursuit of immortality into a struggle against loss, fate, and reincarnation. He becomes a soul devourer, an inheritor of Ancient God and Ancient Dao power, a master of multiple essences, the Lord of the Sealed Realm, and finally a cultivator capable of walking the Heaven Trampling Bridge.

Biography

Village origins and Heng Yue

Wang Lin is born into a close but modest branch of the Wang family. As a child he is physically unremarkable and sometimes sickly, but he is intelligent, loves to study, and is openly cherished by his parents. His fourth uncle gives him one of the family's recommendation places for the Heng Yue Sect because he believes the studious Tie Zhu has the best chance to change his household's future. Wang Lin leaves home under the weight of a very mortal hope: to become an immortal, bring honor to his parents, and repay those who helped them. (Chapters 1–2)

Heng Yue's selection exposes the first central conflict of his life. Wang Lin's talent is poor by sect standards, while his family has already celebrated his presumed success. Once admitted, he advances through repetition, calculation, and a willingness to endure what more gifted disciples will not. The Heaven Defying Bead gives him a hidden cultivation space, but secrecy and discipline remain essential because revealing the treasure would make him a target. (Chapters 2–46)

Inside the bead, Wang Lin encounters Situ Nan, a powerful but damaged Nascent Soul cultivator. Situ Nan supplies cultivation methods, battle spells, the logic of deception, and a harsh education in how cultivators prey on weakness. Wang Lin learns to conceal his level, assess opponents before acting, and develop the divine-sense attack later known through his command to “destroy.” (Chapters 18–79)

The Wang family's destruction and the foreign battleground

Wang Lin's killing of Teng Li brings the vengeance of Teng Huayuan onto the entire Wang clan. Teng Huayuan gathers and destroys Wang Lin's relatives, using their souls to force him out. Wang Lin knows emerging is likely fatal, yet refuses to preserve himself at the price of abandoning his parents' souls. During the confrontation, he endures the destruction of his body without begging and focuses on recovering them. Situ Nan intervenes at ruinous cost, preserving the souls of Wang Lin's parents and carrying Wang Lin's surviving soul into the foreign battleground before falling dormant. (Chapters 108–119)

In the foreign battleground Wang Lin exists without a human body and survives by devouring wandering souls. His divine sense grows, his soul fire strengthens, and he studies the unstable battlefield until he can escape. The Heaven Defying Bead has fused with his soul, while Situ Nan and his parents' souls remain precious burdens he must protect. (Chapters 119–130)

After the Sea of Devils, Wang Lin enters the body of Ancient God Tu Si. He spends years dismantling restrictions rather than forcing them, producing the foundation of the Restriction Flag, and his hair turns white during this prolonged trial. Within Tu Si he learns that an Ancient God's inheritance is divided between knowledge and power. Wang Lin secures the knowledge inheritance and later develops an Ancient God original body distinct from his cultivator avatar. This division gives him two complementary paths: an avatar that advances through domains and spiritual cultivation, and a body whose stars and physical power inherit an ancient race's strength. (Chapters 172–206)

Wang Lin eventually returns to Zhao after roughly four centuries of preparation. His revenge against the Teng family is systematic rather than impulsive. He kills members across the clan, constructs a tower of heads, defeats the Nascent Soul cultivators protecting Teng Huayuan, and makes Teng Huayuan identify the man connected to the Wang family's destruction before killing him. Even interference from a rank-four messenger does not erase the outcome. The revenge closes his earliest blood debt, but it does not restore the family for whom it was undertaken. That emptiness helps push him toward a different form of cultivation. (Chapters 244–248)

Sea of Devils and Li Muwan

Before returning to Zhao, Wang Lin travels under Ma Liang's identity in the Sea of Devils. He meets Li Muwan while she and her companions are being hunted and chooses to protect her. They shelter together as the surrounding danger forces a practical partnership. Li Muwan provides knowledge of formations and alchemy; Wang Lin supplies the caution and force needed to keep them alive. Her defensive jade later saves him from spatial-rift creatures, and his concern over even a crack in it quietly shows that the gift has already acquired value beyond its utility. (Chapters 131–171)

Their bond develops through absence as much as proximity. Wang Lin later returns to Li Muwan and the Cloud Sky Sect, where she helps prepare the pill needed for his breakthrough while he removes threats around her. He remains beside her as age and the failure to form a Nascent Soul bring her life to an end. This obstacle cannot be killed or outplanned: his opponent is the life-and-death cycle itself. (Chapters 213–224 and 328–338)

Wang Lin refuses to treat Li Muwan's death as final. He preserves her Nascent Soul, attempts to nourish it through Zhou Ru, and battles the force enforcing the cycle when Li Muwan awakens. The attempt fails, leaving him to recognize both the cruelty of heaven's law and his own past neglect. He seals and protects what remains of Li Muwan rather than surrendering it. From this point onward, reviving her is not a temporary side goal. It is the promise that shapes his treatment of rare treasures, his study of reincarnation, and his eventual entry into the Immemorial God Realm. (Chapters 338–408)

Mortal transformation, Soul Refining, and Suzaku

After completing his revenge, Wang Lin deliberately turns away from continuous killing. His Ji Realm constrains the original body, so his cultivator avatar walks among mortals to comprehend the heavens and seek a path beyond Nascent Soul. He becomes a woodcarver and spends decades watching Da Niu's family age. The death of Da Niu's father lets him perceive the soul that ordinary people cannot see; the continuity of the family makes life visible beside death. Wang Lin then carves the people he has killed, converting centuries of memory into a direct examination of cause, death, and responsibility. (Chapters 249–271)

His life-and-death domain takes shape, he reaches Soul Formation, and he leaves behind spirit seeds and protection for Zhao rather than merely departing. Mortal lives, homeland, inheritance, and continuity have become things worth guarding. (Chapters 271–287)

On Suzaku, Wang Lin joins the Soul Refining Sect under the name Qing Mu and inherits its legacy through Du Tian. The sect's one-billion-soul flag and its willingness to resist annihilation suit a cultivator who has never accepted extinction as inevitable. As Ceng Niu, Wang Lin becomes notorious for killing enemies above the level his nominal cultivation suggests, including Li Yuanfeng and the Giant Demon Clan ancestor. The name becomes both shield and declaration, allowing Wang Lin to confront planetary powers without immediately exposing every tie to his past. (Chapters 363–417)

During the conflict with the Forsaken Immortal Clan and Suzaku's succession struggle, Wang Lin passes through the Suzaku inheritance despite schemes surrounding the Cultivation Planet Crystal. He uses the Soul Refining Sect's legacy, his domain, and the Ancient God body's force to survive enemies who repeatedly outclass him in realm. By the time he leaves, he has become the new Suzaku and has recovered Situ Nan, but formal authority over one cultivation planet cannot contain his remaining objectives. He departs into the stars because Li Muwan still sleeps and the truth behind the Heaven Defying Bead lies far beyond Zhao. (Chapters 417–476)

Heavenly Fate and the Demon Spirit Land

Wang Lin reaches planet Tian Yun with long hair, sharpened features, darkened skin, and the killing aura of someone who has crossed the stars alone. He becomes the seventh disciple of the All-Seer, joining the purple division of the Heavenly Fate Sect. He accepts instruction and opportunity without giving the All-Seer unconditional faith. The master's ability to calculate people, consume a disciple, and arrange events behind a benevolent surface confirms Wang Lin's instinct that apparent guidance can be another form of possession. (Chapters 477–506 and 844)

The Demon Spirit Land supplies Wang Lin with battle experience and celestial inheritances, but it also deepens his movement from a single domain toward a system of comprehensions. He cultivates the Celestial Slaughter Art, creates slaughter energy, and obtains Blood Soul Pills that function as additional chances at life. Encounters with ancient demons and the sealed legacy around Celestial Emperor Qing Lin force him to negotiate, disguise himself, and act through timing rather than raw dominance. After centuries of cultivation, his domain enters his origin soul and he reaches Ascendant. (Chapters 510–600)

His understanding then moves beyond life and death toward karma, the continuation connecting one life, debt, rescue, or injury to another. In the Thunder Celestial Realm, he expands his command of restrictions, lightning, and celestial treasures. The completion of the Heaven Defying Bead's elemental requirements gives him control of thunder marked by his unyielding dao. (Chapters 650–760)

The Alliance, Qing Lin's cave, and the Four Divine Sect

Under the name Xu Mu, Wang Lin becomes feared across the Alliance Star System. When the Yao family and allied forces hunt him, he retaliates against the cultivation forces pursuing him until “Master Demon” becomes attached to his name. This campaign shows the darkest practical edge of his survival logic: when surrounded, he turns disproportionate retaliation into deterrence. Yet the same period brings him Qing Shui, a cross-generation senior brother who recognizes Bai Fan's inheritance in him. Qing Shui protects him and demonstrates the full celestial spells Call the Wind, Summon the Rain, and Magical Arsenal. (Chapters 786–857)

Wang Lin returns to Suzaku to settle remaining karma rather than pretending his former life no longer matters. He visits the descendants of Wang Zhuo, helps people connected to old friends, sees Li Muwan's brother, and strengthens his homeland. These acts contrast with the younger Wang Lin's tower of Teng heads: both arise from memory, but one repays kindness and preserves continuity while the other ends a bloodline. (Chapters 901–905)

The All-Seer's attempt to take his body turns their guarded master-disciple relationship into open enmity. Wang Lin survives and enters Qing Lin's celestial cave, where several inheritances and factions converge. He resists Ancient Devil Ta Jia, helps free Qing Lin, and confronts the links among the Seven-Colored Celestial Sovereign, the All-Seer, and the cave world's hidden structure. The Heaven Defying Bead reappears as more than a private cultivation treasure, while Wang Lin's Ancient God heritage becomes essential against enemies who can attack both body and origin soul. (Chapters 944–1128)

Wang Lin also inherits the Vermillion Bird legacy and rises within the Four Divine Sect, becoming able to carry a sect's inheritance and protect its future. His willingness to exhaust lifespan for Li Muwan changes Qing Shui's regard from inherited obligation to genuine respect, while his aid to Qing Lin creates an alliance based on action. (Chapters 885–913 and 1034–1128)

Cloud Sea, third-step cultivation, and the realm war

In the Cloud Sea, Wang Lin cultivates as Lu Zihao and encounters a different region of the cave world while continuing to seek stronger essences and clues about its prison. His fire and thunder develop into corporeal essences, while life and death, karma, and true and false preserve the experiences that created them. Rather than replacing one domain with another, he builds a cultivation system in which different stages of his life coexist. The Heaven Defying Bead's renewed approach toward completion strengthens the connection between his personal path and the cave world's larger secret. (Chapters 1131–1225)

When he breaks the Void Gate, Wang Lin forces it to descend repeatedly so that his six essences can fuse and propel him into the third step. The breakthrough is characteristic: he does not accept the first measure of power offered by heaven, but sends it back and demands more until the result matches his accumulated foundation. His Ancient God body advances alongside the cultivator path, giving him the endurance and direct physical strength to face enemies whose spells would otherwise destroy him. (Chapters 1203–1283)

Wang Lin is acknowledged as Lord of the Sealed Realm during the war between the Inner and Outer Realms. He coordinates resistance, kills invaders, protects weakened allies, and stands guard at the damaged boundary while the Inner Realm recovers. His instinct to protect a household has expanded to encompass an entire sealed world. (Chapters 1283–1360 and 1515–1664)

His powers continue to diversify. Successive Vermillion Bird awakenings refine fire; the Ancient God body reaches seven stars; the Li Guang Bow gives him an attack capable of threatening the highest enemies; and his essences begin to acquire true bodies. He also learns that apparent divisions between celestial, Ancient God, Ancient Demon, and Ancient Devil power are part of the cave world's deeper history. This prepares him to move beyond being only an Ancient God inheritor. (Chapters 1392–1472 and 1534–1624)

Ancient Order and the end of the cave world

As the cave world's final struggle exposes the Seven-Colored Daoist, Old Ghost Zhan, and the inheritance left by Ye Mo, Wang Lin gathers the Ancient God, Ancient Demon, and Ancient Devil lines into Ancient Dao. He discovers the passage leading toward the Immortal Astral Continent and recognizes that the cave is a sealed realm rather than the whole universe. The insight changes escape from a personal ambition into a route that others may also take. (Chapters 1648–1741)

Wang Lin's contest with the All-Seer also becomes explicit through Reincarnation Integration. Qing Lin and Dao Master Blue Dream help him identify that an avatar soul has been used as a connection through which another person can steal his essences. Wang Lin learns that the same connection can be reversed if he devours the caster. The struggle is therefore not only over cultivation but over authorship of identity: whether another being can convert Wang Lin's lives, memories, and comprehensions into its own completion. (Chapters 1716–1725)

Grand Empyrean Xuan Luo recognizes Wang Lin's Ancient Dao potential and offers him a path into the Immortal Astral Continent. Before taking it, Wang Lin arranges the cave world's future. Through Dream Dao and reincarnation, he sends companions through the opened door, resolves dangerous surviving powers, and leaves protection behind. He does not describe the Immortal Astral Continent as home; the cave world remains the place to which he intends to return. Carrying Li Muwan, he forces his way through the boundary even after years in the void, devoting his remaining power to keeping her safe. (Chapters 1741–1800)

Immortal Astral Continent and Ancient Dao

Wang Lin's first battles on the Immortal Astral Continent begin before he has a secure place in its order. He extracts earth fire, opposes local sects, and forms a fire essence true body. He later forms additional essence true bodies and reaches nine essences, including the five elements and slaughter thunder. More than a century of calculated endurance inside the Green Devil Continent's scheme lets him turn an attempted possession into another breakthrough. He passes the Arcane Tribulants, becomes an Ascendant Empyrean, and ultimately proves himself the strongest cultivator below the Grand Empyreans. (Chapters 1804–1964)

Xuan Luo accepts Wang Lin as his disciple in the Ancient Dao clan and treats him as a possible guardian of its future. Wang Lin respects that kindness, but he refuses to let clan politics or imperial command determine his conscience. Conflict in the Ancient Dao palace, including matters concerning Li Muwan and the imperial teacher's schemes, drives him to break with imposed duty. His Ancient inheritance and celestial cultivation remain fused within one person; neither side can claim his whole identity. (Chapters 1794 and 1997–2046)

Wang Lin forces out the outline of a Grand Empyrean sun without first entering the Immemorial God Realm, completes powerful essence true bodies, and endures the Ancient Dao Three Soul Splits because the resulting soul blood may allow Li Muwan to enter that realm safely. Xuan Luo guards him during his vulnerable first split even though Wang Lin has already surpassed him. Wang Lin later battles Grand Empyrean Gu Dao, walks the Heaven Trampling Bridges beyond what Gu Dao can clearly perceive, and becomes recognized as the strongest person on the Immortal Astral Continent. (Chapters 1997 and 2055–2062)

Immemorial God Realm and Heaven Trampling

Near the end of his path, Wang Lin revisits the cave world, restores the ruined Seven Dao Sect, and leaves a protective force capable of sheltering the realm for generations. When Xuan Luo approaches, Wang Lin bows first and still calls him teacher; superior power has not cancelled gratitude. Before entering the Immemorial God Realm, he gives Xuan Luo a jade that can protect the teacher's reincarnation if Wang Lin does not return. (Chapters 2080–2084)

Inside the realm, Wang Lin reveals that the All-Seer is the Boundary Compass's treasure spirit and that the apparent world-spanning dream belongs to Wang Lin's slaughter avatar, not his entire life. The true Heaven Trampling Bridge is part of that compass. Wang Lin destroys the All-Seer, obtains the One Realm Essence, and awakens Li Muwan from the Heaven-Avoiding Coffin. (Chapters 2085–2087)

Wang Lin walks the bridge with Li Muwan. His black-robed slaughter avatar returns, while the narration preserves ambiguity about which departing Wang Lin is avatar and which is original; Wang Lin alone knows. Beyond the bridge he sees an unidentified grey-robed figure, leaving the world outside the known path unresolved. (Chapters 2080 and 2087–2088)

Appearance and personality

Wang Lin's appearance changes with his path. As a village youth he is an ordinary, scholarly child rather than an imposing prodigy. By the time he travels to Tian Yun, he has long hair, sharp facial features, proud and intense eyes, and skin darkened by travel through the stars. Ancient God cultivation gives his physical presence a vitality and pressure that spiritual cultivation alone does not explain. In his later life, white hair and a white robe become his most recognizable image. When slaughter separates into its own true body, it appears instead as a black-haired, black-robed Wang Lin whose eyes are cold and almost emptied of ordinary emotion. (Chapters 1, 182, 477, 2038, and 2081)

Patience is his most consistent practical strength. He spends years solving restrictions, centuries preparing revenge, decades living as a mortal, and more than a century enduring an enemy's scheme. He watches for patterns, prepares retreats, tests treasures, and hides his real strength. His many aliases express the same survival instinct. (Chapters 131–182, 249–271, and 1895)

Wang Lin is capable of frightening cruelty. The extermination of the Teng clan and the retaliation carried out as Xu Mu are deliberate uses of terror, not accidents of battle. He can refine souls, manipulate enemies, and kill without hesitation once he judges a conflict irreconcilable. Yet he is not driven by enjoyment of slaughter. At higher cultivation he kills less casually, and his harshest actions usually arise from revenge, survival, or protection. His moral world is personal rather than universal: kindness creates a debt he will cross worlds to repay, while injury to those under his protection can bring consequences upon an entire faction. (Chapters 244–246, 828, and 1909)

His emotional reserve often makes affection look like duty until loss forces him to name it. Guilt toward his parents survives completed revenge, while mortal transformation and fatherhood teach him to value continuity rather than only victory. He leaves protective carvings, strengthens homelands, carries Li Muwan's coffin, guards reincarnations, and returns to old debts. (Chapters 264–287, 408, 901–903, and 2084–2088)

Abilities and cultivation

Cultivator path and divided foundations

Wang Lin begins with poor innate aptitude and advances through Qi Condensation only after the Heaven Defying Bead changes the time and spiritual-water resources available to him. His orthodox path then crosses Foundation Establishment, Core Formation, Nascent Soul, Soul Formation, Soul Transformation, Ascendant, the Nirvana stages, and the third step before continuing through the Immortal Astral Continent's Arcane Tribulant and Empyrean standards. These names are not a smooth sequence of automatic promotions. Several breakthroughs require a new domain, essence, body, or confrontation with divine retribution, and power repeatedly outruns or lags behind the realm label attached to him. (Chapters 2–79, 249–287, 599, 851, 1283, and 1902–1964)

For much of the story, his cultivation is deliberately divided. The avatar follows the conventional origin-soul and domain path, while the original body cultivates as an Ancient God. Separation lets him hide one foundation when the other is exposed and avoids some conflicts between spiritual and bodily methods, but injury, distance, or loss of one body can leave the other without its full range. Later fusion converts the long parallel training into a single combat system. His resulting strength is not explained by realm alone: it is the accumulated interaction of orthodox cultivation, Ancient Order blood and memory, essences, and prepared treasures. (Chapters 190–224, 599, 943–944, and 1648–1778)

At the highest level, Wang Lin reaches power comparable to Grand Empyreans and enters Heaven Trampling through comprehension rather than by merely absorbing another person's cultivation. The final bridge concerns whether a cultivator can step beyond the world and still preserve the self and attachments that gave the path meaning. This is why his last advance and Li Muwan's awakening are connected: mastery is expressed as the ability to open a path for another life, not only a larger destructive attack. (Chapters 2062–2088)

Ji Realm, soul devouring, and divine-sense attacks

Wang Lin's early divine sense develops the Ji Realm, an extreme destructive state that appears as red lightning. Directed with the command “destroy,” it attacks spiritual existence and lets him kill cultivators whose ordinary energy defenses exceed his nominal realm. During its early growth the Ji Realm is tied to the ceiling of his cultivation; it is exceptionally lethal within that range but does not grant unrestricted destruction of every higher soul. Its extremity also closes ordinary routes of advancement, turning a decisive weapon into a bottleneck he must eventually leave behind. (Chapters 79–131)

His time without a body in the foreign battleground makes him a soul devourer. He survives by consuming wandering souls, expands divine sense far beyond what his cultivation should support, and learns to fight, conceal himself, and travel as a spiritual being. This period explains why later soul techniques and possession attempts meet unusually strong resistance. It also has a material cost: devouring is conditioned on available souls, hostile devourers can contest the same resource, and returning to a stable body requires an appropriate vessel rather than divine sense alone. (Chapters 119–131 and 244–246)

The Ji Realm later reappears under extraordinary divine retribution. Wang Lin allows layered retribution to enter his body until a new sliver is born, then uses his familiarity with its destructive structure to conduct both the heavenly Ji Realm and his own into the Realm Sealing Formation. The feat demonstrates adaptation rather than casual permanent recovery: his body is the dangerous medium, the formation is the chosen target, and the combined impact depends on a retribution event he cannot summon as an ordinary repeatable attack. (Chapter 1307)

Life and death, karma, and true-and-false essences

Wang Lin's first mature domain comes from living as a mortal and confronting Li Muwan's death. The life-and-death domain is not necromancy; it is an understanding of the boundary and cycle that determines whether beings are living, dying, or held between those states. It manifests through a reincarnation scroll and gray energy able to judge or seal cultivation. Its power grows when experience forces him to revise simplistic distinctions—life can contain death, death can retain life—but it still cannot simply restore Li Muwan against the entire law of reincarnation. (Chapters 249–287 and 389–408)

Karma develops from cause, consequence, and the relationships Wang Lin cannot sever. It lets him perceive and manipulate causal threads, form Karma Prints, and identify how an effect is attached to its source. Because the method depends on real connections, it is strongest when a chain can be understood and grasped; it is not a universal command that invents any desired cause. His mortal lifetime with Wang Ping becomes essential evidence for this essence, turning fatherhood and loss into part of the cultivation rather than discarded memories. (Chapters 670, 854–901, 1664, and 1902)

The true-and-false essence concerns perception, identity, and whether an experienced world is less consequential because it is dreamlike. It interacts naturally with Dream Dao and avatar conflict: an illusion accepted and lived can leave true karma, while a supposedly true identity can be exposed as another arranged body. These ethereal essences remain distinct but cooperative. Life and death supplies the cycle, karma supplies connection, and true-and-false supplies the judgment of experienced reality; none becomes a generic replacement for the others. (Chapters 844, 984, 1716–1725, and 1902)

Fire, thunder, five elements, and essence true bodies

Wang Lin obtains fire essence through prolonged contact with celestial and Vermillion Bird power, then develops it beyond borrowed flame into a source he can cultivate. It burns energy and law as well as matter and eventually forms a fire essence true body. Thunder essence grows through the Ancient Thunder Dragon inheritance, divine retribution, and the Scattered Thunder Clan's source. It allows him to attract, absorb, and release thunder, but stronger heavenly thunder can still wound him before it is refined. Both essences progress through dangerous exposure rather than appearing as unlimited elemental immunity. (Chapters 720 and 1146–1283)

The five-element essence true body integrates metal, wood, water, fire, and earth into a second major corporeal foundation. Balance matters: acquiring one source does not automatically complete the cycle, and the body only becomes a stable system after the component essences can generate and restrain one another. This gives Wang Lin broad resistance and lets elemental spells reinforce one another, yet incompatible or superior source power can still disrupt the arrangement. (Chapters 1815–1895)

Essence true bodies let Wang Lin externalize a developed system as a body capable of independent action and later reintegration. They increase parallelism in battle and protect the main self from some risks, but also recreate the danger familiar from his earlier avatar: a body with its own path may form a distinct will. The black-haired Slaughter body proves the cost. Built from slaughter and thunder, it becomes powerful enough to pursue its own dao and can no longer be treated as a disposable technique without consequence. (Chapters 1997–2038)

Slaughter and restriction essences

Wang Lin's slaughter essence condenses killing into a source-level power rather than ordinary murderous intent. It can produce slaughter energy, storms, and a true body whose attacks join spiritual destruction to physical force. The essence grows through accumulated killing and comprehension, which creates an ethical and identity limit: surrendering all judgment to it would make the path, rather than Wang Lin, determine whom he becomes. His final distinction between himself and Slaughter is therefore part of mastery, not a rejection of the power's existence. (Chapters 1618 and 1997–2038)

Restriction essence arises from a very different discipline. Wang Lin spends years studying Tu Si's restrictions, builds the Restriction Flag, and continues analyzing celestial formations, caves, and movement methods. He locates repeating nodes, tests reactions, and converts observed rules into seals, traps, and openings. The essence formalizes that analytical path so restrictions can be created and broken at a higher level, but unfamiliar formations still require observation; the essence does not make every seal transparent at a glance. (Chapters 172–206, 754, and 1713–1718)

Ancient God body and Ancient Dao integration

Tu Si's knowledge inheritance gives Wang Lin the Ancient God Tactic, allowing the original body to cultivate through physical power and stars rather than an ordinary origin soul. The stars between his eyebrows store rank and ancient power; growth demands Ancient God energy, trials, and compatible inheritance, while expenditure or injury can weaken available output. The body expands to enormous scale, resists spatial pressure, repairs devastating wounds, and strikes with force that can confront law-based spells directly. It is still vulnerable to Ancient-God-specific poisons, stronger bloodlines, and weapons designed for the race. (Chapters 190–206, 943–944, and 1311–1318)

Ye Mo's inheritance raises the body and supplies Ancient Order power beyond Wang Lin's initial Tu Si-derived foundation. Wang Lin later adds Ancient Demon and Ancient Devil components and integrates the three branches as Ancient Dao. This is not a cosmetic bloodline title: God emphasizes the body and stars, Demon and Devil add their own ancient energies and soul-related methods, and integration lets him use them without remaining three unrelated partial inheritors. Failure would mean conflict between ancient powers inside one vessel, so the combined state depends on bodily endurance and comprehension sufficient to hold them together. Ancient-body strength also changes how he handles items. He can subdue the Heaven Splitting Axe only after withstanding its blow, recovering a bone-deep wound, and overpowering its resistance. The axe then enters his Ancient God stars. That attack power remains item-derived: the body provides compatibility, storage, and the strength to earn recognition, while the cutting effect belongs to the weapon rather than an innate axe spell. Celestial spells and adaptive imitation

Through Bai Fan's lineage and Qing Shui's instruction, Wang Lin learns Call the Wind, Summon the Rain, and Magical Arsenal. Call the Wind gathers black wind into dragon forms whose cold breath destroys vitality. Summon the Rain turns celestial rain into a wide-area killing method. Magical Arsenal condenses points of light into an attacking host. His versions grow as his cultivation and comprehension improve, but they remain learned celestial arts; early casts cannot be assigned Qing Shui's full output merely because the activation is shared. Wang Lin's broader talent is to extract a usable principle from observed techniques. He studies hand seals, movement, and law interactions, then combines the result with his own domains or essences. This is adaptation, not unlimited copying: he may reproduce only an incomplete form, need repeated observation, or lack the source energy that made the original powerful. His third-step palm insight, for example, develops from Qing Lin's temporary instruction plus observation of another expert and a later situation that lets him test the concept. Soul Refining methods and collected souls

The Soul Refining Sect gives Wang Lin methods for gathering, refining, and deploying souls through the one-billion-soul flag system. Large numbers of ordinary souls can combine into formations or produce stronger primary souls, allowing a prepared flag to threaten opponents above the wielder's immediate realm. The technique's scale depends on what has actually been collected, and destruction or liberation of the flag's contents removes that stored force. It is an arsenal accumulated over time, not infinite spontaneous summoning. (Chapters 328–408)

Wang Lin's unusually strong divine sense and soul-devourer experience make him especially suited to this path. He can inspect damaged souls, preserve some fragments, and attack origin souls with tools such as the Soul Lasher. The whip's direct spiritual injury is item-derived, while his domain and control determine how precisely it is used. Likewise, soul preservation can delay dispersal but does not automatically restore memory, cultivation, or a viable body; Li Muwan's long condition is the clearest limit. Dream Dao, reincarnation, and One Realm Essence

Dream Dao turns an experienced possible life into a cultivation field. Wang Lin can draw others into a shared dream, let events acquire continuity, and use the difference between waking identity and lived identity to study true-and-false and reincarnation. It is useful against the All-Seer because a dream can conceal which body, choice, or outcome is the operative one. Participants are not harmless images, however: experience inside the dream can create real understanding and karma, so using it carelessly risks changing the people sheltered by it. (Chapters 984, 1716–1725, and 2079–2080)

His final reincarnation comprehension rejects the idea that awakening Li Muwan requires erasing another self or accepting the Boundary Compass's closed cycle. One Realm Essence gives him the means to open the Heaven-Avoiding Coffin and call her back after the path is complete. The coffin preserves and houses her, while the essence supplies the achieved understanding; neither alone accomplishes resurrection. This distinction preserves both the item-derived vessel and the cultivation-derived release. (Chapters 1800 and 2085–2088)

Prepared combat and item-derived force

Wang Lin's most consistent practical ability is combat judgment. He hides cultivation, places restrictions before a confrontation, carries disposable treasures, and prepares escape coordinates because many enemies are initially stronger than him. He attacks souls when bodies are durable, uses Ancient God strength when spells are being suppressed, and turns a pursuer's certainty into an opening. This approach does not eliminate power gaps; it changes the objective from winning a fair exchange to surviving, learning, or imposing enough cost that the enemy cannot continue safely. (Chapters 131, 500, 812, 828, and 1741)

Several of his greatest single attacks come from finite items. The Li Guang Bow can deter vastly stronger enemies, but its available shots and the burden of drawing it are limited. The God Slaying War Chariot releases a destructive beast that Wang Lin must learn to restrain and return. The Blood Soul Pill supplies a conditional recovery from fatal harm rather than natural immortality, while the Ancient God Leather Armor adds protection compatible with his body but can still be overcome. These tools expand his tactical ceiling precisely because he understands their costs; none should be folded into his permanent cultivation statistics. • Li Muwan: Wang Lin's partner and the central promise of his later life. Their practical alliance in the Sea of Devils grows into an attachment that neither fully voices before her death. He preserves her, carries her through the boundary of the cave world, and develops his understanding of reincarnation until he can awaken her. They leave together across the Heaven Trampling Bridge. (Chapters 131–171, 328–408, 817–819, 1800, and 2087–2088)
• Situ Nan: His first true cultivation teacher and one of his oldest companions. Situ Nan teaches Wang Lin techniques and the brutal logic of survival, then spends himself saving Wang Lin and preserving his parents' souls. After Wang Lin awakens him, their bond operates less like formal master and disciple than brothers who can separate for centuries and still act for one another. • Xuan Luo: Wang Lin's Ancient Dao teacher. Xuan Luo helps him cross toward the Immortal Astral Continent, hopes he will protect Ancient Dao, and guards him during the first soul split. Even after Wang Lin becomes stronger and their formal bond is strained by clan affairs, Wang Lin refuses to receive Xuan Luo's bow and instead honors him as teacher. • Qing Shui: His cross-generation senior brother in Bai Fan's inheritance. Qing Shui rescues him from the Yao family's forces, teaches him celestial spells, and later values him for the lifespan he is willing to sacrifice for Li Muwan. • Qing Lin: The Rain Celestial Emperor whose sealed cave becomes central to Wang Lin's journey. Wang Lin helps awaken him and fights the Ancient Devil occupying his body. Qing Lin later assists Wang Lin in examining the All-Seer's avatar soul, helping expose Reincarnation Integration. (Chapters 1024–1085 and 1661–1725)
• All-Seer: Wang Lin's nominal Heavenly Fate master and longest-running manipulator. Wang Lin never completely trusts his predictions or gifts, and ultimately discovers that the All-Seer is the Boundary Compass's treasure spirit using reincarnation and avatars to pursue completion. Their conflict ends only when Wang Lin reverses the scheme and destroys him in the Immemorial God Realm. (Chapters 477–506, 844, 968–978, 1716–1725, and 2085–2087)
• Wang Ping: Wang Lin's son and the heart of his experience as a father. Their mortal life becomes part of Wang Lin's karma essence, ensuring that fatherhood is not erased as he climbs beyond ordinary lifespans. Wang Ping's loss is one of the memories through which Wang Lin understands both attachment and consequence. (Chapters 854–901 and 1902)
• Mu Bingmei: The later identity connected to Liu Mei and Wang Ping's mother. Wang Lin's feelings toward her are marked by injury, responsibility, and unresolved distance rather than the single-minded devotion he gives Li Muwan. Before leaving the cave world, he gives her protection and recognizes that their karma cannot be treated as nonexistent. (Chapters 1077–1128 and 1790–1791)
• Xu Liguo: A captured devil whom Wang Lin refines and repeatedly places into swords. Xu Liguo complains, schemes, and dreams of freedom, while Wang Lin disciplines him with precise awareness of those impulses. Their extremely long association turns coercive ownership into a strange, durable companionship, and Xu Liguo remains among the beings Wang Lin sends onward from the cave world.
