Xuan Luo

Xuan Luo is one of the nine Grand Empyreans of the Immortal Astral Continent and the guardian of Ancient Dao. After recognizing Wang Lin as an exceptional Ancient Dao inheritor, he makes Wang Lin his only disciple and becomes a protective, father-like figure whose loyalty is tested against the clan he has guarded for his entire life.

Biography

Choosing an heir from the cave world

Xuan Luo first observes Wang Lin from the Immortal Astral Continent while Wang Lin undergoes the Ancient Dao trials. He had himself received eight drops of ancestral blood, a record that marked him as one of the ancient race's greatest talents. Wang Lin receives even greater recognition, prompting Xuan Luo to conceal the event with his Empyrean Sun and resolve to take the unknown cave-world cultivator as his sole disciple. (Chapters 1706–1708)

The recognition continues beyond the ninth drop to Soul Blood, making Xuan Luo's secrecy more than modest protection for a talented junior. He seals the nearly one million witnesses, warns that disclosure will bring death, and leaves for the Seven Dao cave almost immediately. He believes the unknown heir may one day replace him as guardian after his own reincarnation, while the reigning Ancient Dao Emperor hides jealousy that a descendant with six blood drops was never offered the same discipleship. He crosses into the celestial lands despite resistance from Grand Empyrean Dao Yi and follows Wang Lin without immediately revealing himself. Xuan Luo watches Wang Lin break the Five Elements formation, fight powerful enemies, and display both celestial essences and Ancient Dao strength. What begins as interest in a promising guardian becomes sincere pride in Wang Lin's judgment, defiance, and capacity to survive. (Chapters 1731–1741)

His observation is also a test of when not to intervene. During the Nine Cycle Heart Wheel he initially prepares to rescue Wang Lin at the final cycle, then watches Wang Lin reverse and break the spell through his own understanding. Xuan Luo's ancient heart begins beating in response. The scene convinces him that the heir is not merely durable or fortunate: he can overturn techniques designed by cultivators from the greater world. (Chapter 1737)

Teacher in the cave world

Xuan Luo intervenes when the cave world's final conflicts threaten Wang Lin and the people he wishes to save. He helps secure the reincarnation of Wang Lin's family and companions on the Immortal Astral Continent and shields their path from its laws. Before Wang Lin leaves, Xuan Luo formally asks to be accepted as his teacher. Wang Lin understands that accepting also means assuming responsibility for Ancient Dao, and promises to guard the clan. (Chapters 1772–1794)

Xuan Luo gives his disciple a blood protection and waits at the Seven Dao Sect for his arrival. He continues waiting beyond their agreed time, only leaving after fifteen years when Wang Lin's mark has vanished and survival appears impossible. When Wang Lin eventually reaches the continent and activates Xuan Luo's golden print, Xuan Luo senses him but deliberately allows him time to temper himself before their reunion. (Chapters 1794–1810)

The reincarnation route has strict limits. Xuan Luo can open and protect a path, but he cannot promise where or when any soul will be reborn; Wang Lin therefore adds marks so he can recognize his companions later. Xuan Luo also warns that carrying Li Muwan's soul outside that protected flow exposes Wang Lin to the laws between worlds. His help creates a chance rather than a guaranteed restoration. Ancient Dao and the imperial palace

At Ancient Dao, Xuan Luo receives Wang Lin with the warmth of family and prepares him as a future guardian. Their bond collides with imperial power when the Ancient Dao Emperor uses a fragment of Li Muwan's soul and forces Wang Lin into open rebellion. Xuan Luo is prepared to kill the emperor for his disciple despite knowing that doing so would betray the duty that defined his life. Wang Lin instead severs their formal relationship and destroys his own body so that his subsequent actions cannot make Xuan Luo a sinner of Ancient Dao. (Chapters 2009–2033)

The severance does not erase their affection. Xuan Luo allows Wang Lin to leave with Li Muwan's soul and later guards him through the Ancient Dao Three Soul Splits in the Ancient Shi ancestral temple. When Wang Lin nearly loses himself, Xuan Luo forces his way against the temple's rejection until his hair turns white, calling his disciple back to consciousness. (Chapters 2033–2058)

During the failed second fusion, Xuan Luo repeatedly charges a barrier the ancestral temple will not let even a Grand Empyrean cross. His effort produces the white-haired old figure Wang Lin recognizes inside the trial; the cry of “wake up” precedes the return of all twenty-seven halos. Xuan Luo leaves before Wang Lin emerges, giving a blessing rather than forcing the disciple to confront the grief of their formal separation. (Chapters 2057–2061)

Wang Lin later spends three quiet years with Xuan Luo after the older man gives up an immediate reincarnation. By the opening of the Immemorial God Realm, Wang Lin still addresses him as Teacher and gives him protection for his coming reincarnation; Xuan Luo still regards Wang Lin as his only disciple. (Chapters 2061 and 2083–2084)

Appearance and personality

Xuan Luo usually appears as a black-haired young man despite his immense age. When he expends himself to reach Wang Lin in the ancestral temple, his true age shows through white hair and an elderly appearance. (Chapters 1707 and 2058)

He is direct, proud, and protective rather than politically subtle. Xuan Luo has guarded Ancient Dao for countless years, yet treats his disciple with unusual patience and warmth. His greatest conflict is between that lifelong duty and his love for Wang Lin; when forced to choose, he is willing to bear disgrace and death rather than abandon his only disciple. (Chapters 2010 and 2031–2033)

Abilities and cultivation

Xuan Luo is a Grand Empyrean whose ancient-clan cultivation combines overwhelming force with unusually careful protection. His most important applications are concealment, inheritance diagnosis, and shepherding weaker souls across boundaries they could not survive alone.

Grand Empyrean cultivation and Empyrean Sun

As one of the nine Grand Empyreans represented by suns over the Immortal Astral Continent, Xuan Luo can confront peers and cross boundaries inaccessible to ordinary cultivators. His blood-colored Empyrean Sun covers vast areas, suppresses observation, and seals nearly a million witnesses when Wang Lin receives ancestral recognition. It can also shelter cave-world cultivators from the Immortal Astral Continent's laws. The sun is both a manifestation of rank and a working field; using it for concealment prevents Wang Lin's Soul Blood from becoming immediate political prey. Ancient Dao body and inheritance knowledge

Xuan Luo completed the Ancient Dao trials with eight ancestral blood drops, once an exceptional record. That experience gives him detailed knowledge of Ancient bodies, ancestral recognition, blood calamities, origin-soul splitting, and the risks of fusing inherited power. He can diagnose stages and guide Wang Lin, but Wang Lin's Soul Blood and fused celestial-Ancient path exceed Xuan Luo's precedent. His expertise lets him advise the new path; it does not make their inheritances identical. (Chapters 1706–1708 and 2055–2058)

Reincarnation guidance

When the cave world opens, Xuan Luo protects souls and guides them toward reincarnation on the Immortal Astral Continent. His power can keep them intact through passage and place them within the larger reincarnation process, but he cannot choose the exact time, body, or identity in which each returns. The reincarnated people are continuations through soul passage, not projections Xuan Luo personally controls after birth. (Chapters 1792–1810)

Blood protection and Grand Empyrean print

Xuan Luo gives Wang Lin his blood and a golden print carrying Grand Empyrean authority. The mark can shield its bearer, deter cultivators who recognize it, announce Wang Lin's connection to Xuan Luo, and alert the teacher when his disciple arrives on the continent. It is a finite protective inheritance rather than borrowed Grand Empyrean cultivation; Wang Lin must still survive threats and temper his own strength. (Chapters 1794 and 1810)

Xuan Luo's power is ultimately constrained by duty and impending reincarnation. He can oppose peers, but protecting Wang Lin against the Ancient Dao throne risks the clan identity his cultivation exists to guard. (Chapters 2010–2033 and 2084)

Relationships

• Wang Lin: Wang Lin is Xuan Luo's only disciple. Their formal tie is severed to spare Xuan Luo from betraying Ancient Dao, but both continue to recognize the relationship as that of teacher and son. (Chapters 1794, 2010–2033, and 2055–2084)
• Li Muwan: Xuan Luo protects Li Muwan's passage from the cave world because she is inseparable from Wang Lin's purpose. His inability to solve the later theft of her soul fragment helps precipitate the crisis at the Ancient Dao palace. (Chapters 1792–1810 and 2021–2033)
• Ancient Dao Emperor: Xuan Luo guards the emperor and the clan's institutions until the emperor's use of Li Muwan's soul forces him to choose between throne and disciple. (Chapters 1707–1708 and 2031–2033)
• Grand Empyrean Gu Dao: Gu Dao's authority over the ancient race limits what Xuan Luo can do openly, especially against the Ancient Dao Emperor. (Chapters 2010–2033)
