Epicormic Branch of the Tree of Life
Description
The Epicormic Branch of the Tree of Life is a Level 110 Mythical staff made from crystal-like material and emitting a soft emerald-green radiance. It supports both damage and healing, can heal its wielder based on damage dealt, and can summon a Life Tree for two seconds of invulnerability after identification. (Chapters 460–461)
History and custody
Mythical staff award
The staff appears among party loot and is identified at a cost of 10,000 gold. Zhang physically carries it through identification, but Daffodil Daydream receives ownership as the party's eligible spellcaster; his handling is temporary service rather than personal acquisition. (Chapters 460–461)
Its reputation immediately makes Daffodil a target. Royal Highness of Thunder regards it as the best available staff, waits for her to travel alone, kills her once, and camps her body in hopes that another death will drop the weapon. He obtains only her Violet-Platinum boots, while the staff remains with Daffodil. (Chapter 473)
Later, when another staff is available, Daffodil declines it and tells Han Ying Xue that she already has the Epicormic Branch. This confirms continued custody through Chapter 566 and shows that the staff remains competitive enough to remove her from subsequent staff distribution. (Chapter 566)
Abilities and mechanics
After identification, the staff has 5,778–6,478 magic attack, 20% increased magic damage and healing, two Level 4 sockets, a Level 110 requirement, and a twenty-level requirement reduction. These bonuses serve offensive Spellcaster spells and healing magic, although Daffodil principally uses it for damage. (Chapter 461)
Every attack has a 2% chance to heal the wielder for an amount equal to the damage just dealt. The trigger requires an attack and is probabilistic; it does not create steady recovery and the source does not establish whether area attacks roll once or per target. (Chapters 460–461)
Activating the staff summons a Life Tree that grants two seconds of invulnerability. The source does not publish the active's cooldown, casting time, or whether it clears existing control effects, so only the brief invulnerability window is established. Its defensive value contributes to why the staff remains desirable even when other magic weapons appear. (Chapters 460–461 and 473)
Relationships
- Daffodil Daydream: The owner and intended user. She survives an effort to make her drop the staff and later refuses a replacement because she still carries it. (Chapters 460–473 and 566)
