Tessia Eralith

Tessia Eralith is the princess of Elenoir, a childhood companion of Arthur Leywin, and a mage whose determination to protect others repeatedly brings her into conflict with the limits imposed on an heir. Her path from rescued child to academy leader and soldier is interrupted when Cecilia Sever is reincarnated into her body, but Tessia survives as a distinct consciousness, resists the occupation, and ultimately returns to help rebuild both her people and the wider world.

Biography

Rescue and childhood in Elenoir

Tessia first meets Arthur Leywin after running away from home and being captured by traffickers in Elshire Forest. Though frightened and initially guarded, she accepts the help of the unusually capable boy who defeats her captors and leads her through the forest. Her trust grows through shared danger rather than royal protocol: Arthur Leywin treats her as a child in need of safety, not as a princess to exploit, and Tessia responds by showing him the route toward her hidden homeland. (Chapters 12–13)

Returning to Zestier reunites Tessia with her parents, Alduin Eralith and Merial Eralith, and her grandfather, Virion Eralith. Gratitude toward Arthur Leywin quickly becomes attachment, and she resists the idea that he should immediately leave Elenoir. While Virion Eralith supervises Arthur Leywin's dangerous beast-will assimilation, Tessia watches his vulnerability as well as his strength. Their time together replaces the imbalance of rescuer and rescued with companionship, training, and the first dependable friendship either child has formed across the human-elven divide. Tessia's affection is inseparable from a desire to stop being the person who must wait for rescue. She trains alongside Arthur Leywin, competes for his attention, and struggles with the impending separation when he prepares to return to his own family. Their farewell establishes a pattern that follows them into adolescence: Tessia wants to stand beside him, while Arthur Leywin's secrecy and protective instincts repeatedly create distance. When they reunite at Xyrus years later, her poised entrance cannot hide how personally she still measures his absence and return. (Chapters 15–18 and 46)

Xyrus student and council leader

At Xyrus Academy, Tessia is no longer introduced as the lost child of Elshire. She serves as Student Council president, studies under Cynthia Goodsky, and carries herself with enough authority to quiet an auditorium. That public confidence coexists with private uncertainty around Arthur Leywin, whose unexplained distance frustrates her precisely because their childhood bond remains so important. She nevertheless insists on honest recognition of their feelings, moving their relationship beyond nostalgia while trying to fulfill the visible obligations of an elven heir among students of all three races. (Chapters 46, 51, and 59)

The Widow's Crypt expedition tests whether her title is matched by judgment under pressure. Tessia uses wind and plant magic, coordinates with classmates, and continues fighting through an abnormal dungeon whose beasts and layout defy their training. Her determination helps the group survive, but the expedition also exposes the danger hidden inside her own mana core. The improperly assimilated Elderwood Guardian will can turn her power against friend and foe alike, and Arthur Leywin is nearly killed when corrupted vines erupt beyond her control. Her failure becomes a source of shame rather than an excuse to withdraw from responsibility. (Chapters 66–68 and 76)

That unstable inheritance makes Tessia especially vulnerable during the attack on Xyrus. Lucas Wykes targets and brutalizes her while Draneeve's forces hold the academy, using her status and Arthur Leywin's attachment to her as weapons. Tessia survives, but she cannot control the retaliation that follows when Arthur Leywin returns and destroys Lucas Wykes. The collapse of school life teaches her that rank, affection, and talent all create leverage for enemies; leadership will henceforth mean enduring the consequences of decisions made both by her and on her behalf. Soldier, heir, and Arthur's promise

As war reaches Dicathen, Tessia refuses to let her position as Elenoir's heir confine her to ceremonial safety. Virion Eralith initially bars her from the front because the royal family cannot risk its succession, but she presses to earn a place through ability rather than blood. Training under Aldir and Varay Aurae, she sharpens her swordsmanship, augmentation, and command judgment. She then leads Darvus, Caria, and Stannard in the field, where casualties make every error more consequential than an academy defeat. (Chapters 127–132)

Command hardens Tessia without resolving the conflict between public duty and personal attachment. She wants Arthur Leywin to regard her as a capable soldier and partner, not another responsibility to shelter, yet the gulf between his power and hers repeatedly reopens that insecurity. Their reunions during the war give both of them moments of candor, and Tessia's experience leading troops makes her more willing to challenge his solitary decisions. Love remains a source of courage, but it also becomes part of the strategic pressure each carries whenever the other enters danger. (Chapters 136, 164, and 168)

The war strips away the protections Tessia once resisted. A shared leaf necklace symbolizes the future she and Arthur Leywin want, but no promise can preserve the royal family or Elenoir's stability. When Alduin Eralith and Merial Eralith are captured, Tessia leaves sanctuary to try to save them and witnesses the consequences of their bargain with the enemy. She and Arthur Leywin have acknowledged their love and promised a shared future, but her rescue attempt draws him after her and leads both into the confrontation with Nico Sever that ends Dicathen's defense. Capture and Cecilia's reincarnation

Nico Sever captures Tessia because Agrona Vritra's reincarnation design requires her as a vessel for Cecilia Sever, the Legacy from Arthur Leywin and Nico Sever's former life. Later visions show Tessia moving beside Nico Sever under enemy control, but the person acting through her body is not simply Tessia with altered loyalties. Cecilia Sever is a separately reincarnated consciousness installed into Tessia's living body, carrying her own memories, attachments, and aims; Tessia's identity is suppressed rather than converted into Cecilia Sever's. When Cecilia Sever first awakens, she experiences Tessia's slender arms, gunmetal hair, mana core, runic marks, and Elderwood Guardian will as inherited features of an unfamiliar body. Agrona Vritra and Nico Sever tell her that the body's previous mind is gone, but Tessia persists within the beast will and occasionally pushes memories or aversion into Cecilia Sever's awareness. At the Victoriad, Tessia briefly interferes with Cecilia Sever's control, proving that the original owner of the body remains a separate, active consciousness rather than a residue or blended personality. The occupation becomes a continuing conflict between two people sharing one body under Agrona Vritra's manipulation. Cecilia Sever can suppress Tessia with mana, use Tessia's core and beast will, and later control mana on the Legacy's extraordinary scale; Tessia cannot match that force directly. Instead, she observes, questions Agrona Vritra's promises, challenges Cecilia Sever's rationalizations, and urges her to examine altered memories and binding magic. Tessia's resistance does not make Cecilia Sever's actions her own: it demonstrates precisely why responsibility, consent, and identity must remain separated even when their perceptions overlap. Resistance, return, and a future with Arthur

As Cecilia Sever's trust in Agrona Vritra erodes, Tessia becomes harder to silence and more capable of influencing the internal struggle. She points Cecilia Sever toward evidence of Agrona Vritra's control, presses her to confront the cost of returning to Earth, and survives repeated efforts to drown her consciousness beneath the Legacy's mana. During the final confrontation, Tessia expends herself resisting from within while Arthur Leywin uses Fate to unwind the bindings between vessel and reincarnated spirit. Cecilia Sever departs along a different path, leaving Tessia alive in her own body rather than merging with or replacing her. (Chapters 439, 449, 481, and 489)

Tessia's return is physically dangerous because Cecilia Sever, not Tessia, underwent Integration. With no stable core to control the mana packed into her body, Tessia nearly dies until a mourning pearl forms a new white core. Recovery also requires reclaiming relationships from the shadow of what Cecilia Sever did in her face. Virion Eralith recognizes his granddaughter immediately, while Tessia tells Arthur Leywin that their old promise helped her survive but should not bind either of the people they have become. Releasing it is an act of love and restored agency, not a denial of their history. (Chapters 489, 493, and 498)

Once home, Tessia resumes public responsibility instead of treating restoration as a return to childhood. She represents Elenoir in councils, seeks aid across former enemy lines, confronts the emotional aftermath of her parents' deaths, and applies knowledge retained from witnessing Cecilia Sever's mana use. She later voluntarily gives the failing djinn intelligence Ji-ae space in her mind, under conditions she chooses, turning the site of her deepest violation into an act of consent and shared purpose. Six months after the final crisis, she is married to Arthur Leywin, expecting their twins Reynolds and Rinia, and acting as a principal leader for the surviving elves while preparing for a public wedding ceremony. Appearance and personality

Tessia is an elf with long silvery, gunmetal-gray hair and teal eyes. As a child she appears travel-worn after her capture, while at Xyrus she wears academy and Student Council uniforms with the composed bearing expected of a princess. War replaces much of that sheltered presentation with practical armor, a sword, and the posture of a field commander. The same body later bears the spellforms used to secure Cecilia Sever's reincarnation; those marks and Cecilia Sever's use of Tessia's face do not change which identity originally belongs to it. Proud, affectionate, and intensely determined, Tessia chafes whenever care becomes a reason to deny her choice. That impulse can make her brave and empathetic, but it can also become impatience, guilt-driven risk, or a refusal to accept limits, especially when loved ones are endangered. Academy leadership and military command teach her to consider those who depend on her, while captivity forces a more inward endurance. After returning, she is neither the sheltered princess nor Cecilia Sever's continuation: she is a survivor who accepts grief, seeks cooperation with former enemies, and chooses responsibility without surrendering personal agency. • Arthur Leywin: Tessia's rescuer, childhood friend, training companion, romantic partner, and eventual husband. Their recurring conflict centers on protection without consent: each must learn that love cannot justify deciding the other's risks or future. After surviving occupation and releasing their wartime promise, they choose one another again, marry privately, expect twins, and share responsibility for the postwar world. • Virion Eralith: Tessia's grandfather, mentor, commander, and closest surviving family elder. His restrictions during the war frustrate her desire to earn a place at the front, but his caution comes from both military judgment and love. His immediate recognition of Tessia after Cecilia Sever's removal gives her the assurance that occupation did not erase how her family knows her. Wind magic, plant magic, and swordsmanship

Tessia begins as a wind- and plant-attribute mage whose spells emphasize movement, cutting gusts, restraining vines, and attacks that reshape the nearby battlefield. Academy training improves her control, while later instruction from Aldir and Varay Aurae develops augmentation, aerial movement, and mana-enhanced swordplay suitable for command at the front. Her style is flexible but not limitless: strong emotions, battlefield exhaustion, and the interference of her beast will can compromise precision, making discipline as important as raw output. (Chapters 17, 20, 46, 50, 58, 66–68, 76, 127–132, 219, and 220)

Elderwood Guardian beast will

The Elderwood Guardian core Arthur Leywin gives Tessia is compatible enough to expand her plant magic, alter her perception, and enable large vine-based attacks, but its corruption and improper assimilation make the inheritance dangerous. The will can overwhelm her judgment, seize her body, and lash out at nearby allies; repeated use produces pain, exhaustion, and loss of control rather than a free increase in strength. During Cecilia Sever's occupation, the beast will also becomes the place in which Tessia's suppressed consciousness remains rooted, turning a source of earlier danger into the shelter from which she can resist erasure. Cecilia's Legacy power and Tessia's retained knowledge

The Legacy's overwhelming mana control belongs to Cecilia Sever, not to Tessia. Cecilia Sever uses Tessia's body, core, and beast will, rapidly purifies the core, masters many mana attributes, and ultimately reaches Integration; those feats should not be retroactively credited to the body's original owner. Because Tessia remains conscious through much of this period, however, she observes Cecilia Sever's techniques and retains fragments of the resulting knowledge. After restoration, those memories refine Tessia's sensitivity and understanding without making her the Legacy or granting her Cecilia Sever's unrestricted authority over ambient mana. Restored core, flight, and chosen mental links

Removing Cecilia Sever leaves Tessia coreless even though her body contains the mana density produced by Integration, causing a life-threatening loss of control. A mourning pearl rebuilds a white mana core and stabilizes her, after which she relearns flight and continues training rather than inheriting Cecilia Sever's integrated state. Tessia has no independent aether core and does not wield Arthur Leywin's aether arts. Her later unusual ability is mental accommodation: she voluntarily accepts Ji-ae into the space Cecilia Sever left and forms a shared link with Arthur Leywin, demonstrating conscious control over access to her mind rather than a repetition of forced possession. • Silver leaf pendant: Arthur divides a paired silver leaf charm and gives Tessia one half as the material sign of their promise to survive the war and build a future together.
