Mourning pearls
History
Lord Veruhn gives Arthur three small blue pearls as a clan gift. Arthur offers the first to save Chul Asclepius, places the second in Tessia Eralith's empty core cavity after Cecilia's removal, and later gives the last to Kezess Indrath for the captive Agrona body. Each use is a deliberate allocation of an irreplaceable life-saving resource. (Chapters 465–467, 489, and 515)
Properties and use
A mourning pearl is a liquid-filled artifact formed from the core of a leviathan infant who did not survive. Implanted into a grievously injured body, it releases immense mana, repairs damage, and may rebuild or transform a core rather than merely closing wounds. It restores Chul, creates a new white core for Tessia, and transforms the body presented as Agrona when the third is used. The outcomes vary with the recipient and are not predictable as a simple universal cure. (Chapters 467, 489, and 515)
