Angelica von Droix

Angelica von Droix is a demon of the House of Lust who falls from leadership of the charm tribe after the death of her human contractee, Elijah Turner. Her attempt to kill Ren Dover instead ends with him taking her core and binding their survival together. What begins as coercion develops into a practical alliance and then a genuine attachment to Caissa, strong enough that Angelica ultimately opposes her own clan and her mother rather than surrender the people and autonomy she has gained.

Biography

Elijah's death and the loss of her tribe

Angelica is introduced as the Matriarch of the charm tribe, a subsidiary of the Lust clan. Elijah's death damages her soul and leaves her too weak to conceal vulnerability from her subordinates. Although she destroys the challengers who try to seize her title and the Coffin of the Cursed Night, Everblood takes the recovery artifact and exploits her grief. He supplies Ren's image as a false lead, then uses a curse hidden in a devil fruit to erase Angelica's memory of their meeting. (Chapters 113–114, 132–134)

Driven by the belief that Ren is connected to Elijah's death, Angelica enters Rowa and overwhelms Kevin Voss before attacking Ren. Her nominal history is Baron rank near Viscount, but the later account clarifies that Elijah's death had actually reduced her to an untitled demon by this confrontation. Ren defeats her through prepared traps, removes and swallows her core, and makes her continued life dependent on him. Angelica accepts a five-year mana contract only after negotiating the return of her core and Ren's promise to help her regain Viscount rank, preserving a limited form of agency inside a deeply coercive beginning. Caissa, concealment, and Immorra

At Caissa's headquarters, Angelica initially refuses to cooperate and treats Smallsnake and Leopold Ray with open contempt. Ren cannot safely use a subordinate who acts only under threat, so their written contract forbids mutual harm and requires aid in danger. She adopts a black cat form to move through human territory, hides her demonic signature by avoiding energy use, and becomes “Pudding” to Ren's family. Ren brings Angelica to Immorra because her demonic knowledge, translation, and contract expertise are indispensable. Her transformed forms cut her off from most of her power and carry a cooldown, so infiltration trades combat strength for concealment. She helps Ren negotiate with Silug, binds the orc to herself, and gains from his growth through their shared contract. After returning to Earth she reaches Viscount rank, and Silug's later S-rank breakthrough accelerates her to Count in six months. Henolur and the Inferno infiltration

In Henolur, Angelica's identity is exposed to Waylan Roshfield and Douglas. They verify the mana contract rather than attacking her, and Douglas adds a protective film that masks the intermittent demonic energy her own concealment fails to suppress. For the Inferno operation she turns into a tooth so the duergars cannot confiscate her with Ren's equipment, disables surveillance, and uses a devil fruit to restore the demonic energy denied by her transformation. Her bloodline pressure weakens contracted duergars, enabling Ren and allied fighters to engage enemies who otherwise outrank them. (Chapters 321–345)

The operation also establishes hard limits. Angelica's Count-ranked attack can threaten S-ranked duergars, yet bloodline suppression becomes ineffective when the gap between her and an SS-ranked contractor is too large. She can accept demonic energy through her link to Ren, but warns that using it accelerates the corrosion of his unstable mind. When a synchronization vision makes Ren appear to die, their contract causes Angelica's body and core to disintegrate as well; both return when the apparent event is reversed. Natasha's curse and the Issanor crisis

During the interspecies tournament, Angelica reveals that she placed the Mind Breaker curse on Natasha Stern fifteen years earlier. Newly elevated as Matriarch and only Baron-ranked, she had accepted an opportunity that required cursing a target she could not normally reach. Ren's later decision to give Amanda Stern the fruit that awakens Natasha counts as harming Angelica under their contract. Angelica nevertheless explains the danger and proposes that Ren exceed the grade-III contract's effective range before enduring its backlash. (Chapters 437–440)

Ren survives but suffers severe soul damage, while Angelica accepts her own backlash from the broken curse. When the truth emerges, Maylin Xiltris recognizes the demonic signature and nearly kills her. Natasha refuses immediate revenge because Angelica was acting under orders and because killing Ren's contracted ally would endanger the person who saved her. Amanda does not forgive Angelica, but she also does not act without understanding the full situation. The mana compressor and Ren's revealed history

When Caissa is scattered across the demon world, Angelica protects Ryan Polive, locates the other members through his drones, and helps rescue Smallsnake from the compressor. Because the doors respond to demonic energy, she can open routes unavailable to mana-sealed humans. In the battle above, she joins Ren and Liam Nefeli against the dying Duke Ikinor, using a concealed ring form to attack the exposed core. Ikinor throws her aside and Ren lands the finishing blow, making her contribution decisive but not sufficient by itself. (Chapters 570–584)

Magnus's memory projection then shows Angelica that her original collision with Ren was engineered to damage his soul. She recognizes that both of them have used the other—Ren benefited from her power, while his growth drove her extraordinary advancement—but she also recognizes his pain rather than abandoning him. As Jezebeth approaches, Angelica leads part of the escape group toward the portal and remains one of the people who sees the concealed architecture behind Ren's life. Contract expertise and return to the Demon Realm

Angelica later dissolves her contract with Silug by mutual consent, removing the risk that his death would again damage her soul. She explains that a demon contractor benefits from the contractee's growth and that this shared advancement can also repair a damaged core, advice Ren uses when dealing with Suriol. Her expertise is practical rather than ceremonial: she understands contract grades, backlash, bloodline transfer, and the way demonic energy can alter both partners. The accumulated knowledge makes her one of Ren's principal interpreters of demon physiology and law. (Chapters 656, 659–660)

By Chapter 673 Angelica is close to Duke rank, but Earth's thin demonic energy and her inadequate devil fruits prevent the breakthrough. Ren helps her enter a dungeon portal, and in the Demon Realm she initially believes the abundant energy may let her stabilize Duke within three months. The later narration explicitly corrects that expectation: months later she is still far from Duke, though making progress. The Third Cataclysm and the House of Lust

Angelica enters the Third Cataclysm among demons who distrust her, protected primarily by her mother's status. Inside the Pillar of Lust, the environment amplifies her demonic abilities. She rescues Hein Kraaijenschot and Ava Leafz, then uses contracts to free them from the Pillar's mana suppression and protect them from its hypnotic terrain. Her direction is cautious and informed, but she admits that none of them can defeat the Pillar Master and that their survival depends on a change she cannot create alone. (Chapters 802, 808, 817)

The masked strategist appears to be an enemy until he removes his disguise and reveals himself as Smallsnake. Angelica initially attacks him because the strategist's reputation is incompatible with the anxious administrator she mourned. When he privately gives his name as Brian, her certainty breaks and she cries for the first time in years. The reunion confirms how completely Caissa has become her chosen family: loss of Smallsnake had changed her, and his return reaches an emotional reserve she normally hides behind insults and rank. Lillith's servants bring Angelica and her companions before the Lust throne. Angelica rejects her mother's performance of affection, accusing her of caring only because Angelica's seven more-talented siblings are dead and the clan needs a successor. Lillith beats her and moves to erase her existence; Smallsnake uses his authority as the Demon King's strategist to prevent the killing, and Ren interrupts the proposed compromise of crippling Angelica's core and forcing an heir. After the war, Angelica helps close Caissa's mercenary chapter. With demon invasions and dungeons ending, she rejects Ryan's attempt to preserve an organization that no longer has a purpose and leads the group into running a cafe instead. She remains sharp-tongued and commanding, but the faint amusement behind her treatment of Smallsnake and Ryan shows that her authority now operates within a home she chose rather than a clan she ruled through fear. Appearance and personality

Angelica's humanoid form is described as an exceptionally beautiful woman with jade-white skin, long glossy black hair, a curvaceous build, black horns, and demonic wings. She favors elegant red or purple dresses, and her natural charm persists even when she becomes a small black cat with bright yellow eyes. Her transformation is accompanied by black mist and can compress her into objects such as a ring or tooth. Pride is Angelica's first defense. She is status-conscious, violent toward challenges, and quick to call humans beneath her, yet she also honors explicit bargains and dislikes growth methods that require consuming another demon's core. Beneath them she protects Ren's family, worries over Silug's death, safeguards weaker members, recognizes Ren's trauma, and openly defies her mother. Angelica uses the demon nobility ladder of untitled demon, Baron, Viscount, Count, Marquis, Duke, Prince, and higher offices. Her core is both the center of her power and a physical vulnerability: distance from it cuts her strength, damage to a contractee can injure her soul, and a sufficiently binding mana contract can make another person's death destroy her. Demonic energy and bloodline suppression

Angelica projects demonic energy as pressure, barriers, compact destructive spheres, and direct reinforcement. As a member of the Lust clan and former leader of the charm tribe, Angelica carries supernatural allure in every form. Her smile and gestures can cloud judgment, and in the Pillar she compels an elven fighter to turn his weapon on an ally. The effect is not limitless: trained or contracted targets can resist or be snapped free, stronger entities can dominate her in turn, and suspicion prevents the charm from replacing sound tactics. Combat judgment and demon knowledge

Angelica combines her raw power with detailed knowledge of demon cores, bloodlines, artifacts, realms, contracts, and hierarchy. She locates or exposes demonic energy, opens mechanisms keyed to it, translates demon concepts for Ren, and reads the mental corrosion caused by hybrid energy. In combat she favors pressure, speed, barriers, and attacks on the core, but her most important contributions often come from matchup judgment: she refuses an impossible suppression attempt, identifies when a portal or door needs demonic energy, and tells allies when resistance would only provoke a stronger force.
