Princess Anastasia

Anastasia Von Gweliven is the third princess of the Kingdom of Gweliven. Her abduction by Twilight Rain brings her into Lux’s orbit, after which she grows from a sheltered royal who assumes that influence can purchase loyalty into a determined ally who uses her position to protect her kingdom and choose her own future. Her long pursuit of Lux eventually succeeds, making her his wife without ending her ties to Gweliven.

Biography

Heaven’s Gate and the continental wars

At fifteen, Anastasia visits the drought-stricken Wolfpine Barony as the only member of the royal family willing to inspect its condition personally. She is already competing with her brothers for the succession, but her sheltered confidence makes her assume that every person has a price; she orders Millie to double whatever favor Anastasia believes Lux has received from a rival faction. That political game ends when Twilight Rain abducts her. During the rescue, she evaluates Scarlet’s unexplained instruction under pressure and deliberately does not resist when Eiko swallows her, satisfying the ability’s condition and allowing Lux’s party to extract her from the kidnappers’ ship. The rescue does not immediately make Anastasia fearless. When Teju Jagua approaches Wolfpine, she trembles, clings to Lux, and obeys his order not to attack a creature none of them can defeat. After surviving, she recognizes that her attachment to him may have begun in gratitude but refuses to dismiss it without learning more. She asks him to remain near her, then accepts his departure and decides to study how to become a better ruler rather than relying only on charm or royal privilege. Months later, she also watches Lux’s battle in the Domain of the Fallen, where his performance against a newly empowered opponent further demonstrates how far his life extends beyond palace politics. The Dragon kingdoms and the Abyss

When Lux returns to Gweliven and establishes a proxy guild, Anastasia’s name is valuable because she commands a recognized faction of her own. Her contribution becomes concrete during Lux’s operation against Twilight Rain in Whitebridge. After Millie’s master warns that he will be involved, Anastasia travels from the capital with Royal Guards and four Ranker guardians, orders Millie to assist him, and lends the operation the crown’s public authority. Millie’s claim that the fighting is a royal live drill gives the city guards a workable explanation, keeps civilians behind a blockade, and helps contain the political damage while Lux captures Lucius. The Whitebridge reunion also tests Anastasia’s feelings against other relationships around Lux. She quarrels with Colette, worries when Colette presents Aina as a possible bride, and later witnesses Aina defeat Lux in a Ranker Trial. These encounters replace her private image of a grateful princess and solitary savior with the reality that Lux has capable women and allies around him. Anastasia nevertheless continues the relationship openly. Before he leaves, she asks him to contact her through the Mithril Bracelet she gave him, turning a protective royal treasure into a continuing line between them rather than treating his departure as rejection. The Divine Army reckoning

Anastasia is not physically present when Eiko returns to Watford, but the port and Black Pearl still carry the consequences of her kidnapping: the slime’s journey explicitly retraces the place where Lux’s group organized her rescue. By this point, that incident has become more than a private trauma. It is the deed through which the royal family recognizes Lux as a benefactor of Gweliven, and it remains the foundation of Anastasia’s confidence that he will answer a genuine threat to the kingdom. That confidence is tested when Gweliven’s hidden war against Twilight Rain becomes costly enough for Nevreal to warn Lux that both sides have suffered losses. Anastasia does not demand that Lux prove his affection by entering the battlefield; the decision is already his, shared by Cai and others whom the guild once kidnapped. Instead, she remains part of the royal objective for which the campaign is fought. Lux specifically returns to see the now-sixteen-year-old princess, while Nevreal’s willingness to bring him before King Uther shows that rescuing Anastasia has matured into lasting diplomatic trust between Lux and the crown. Abyssal invasion and broken memories

Anastasia greets Lux with unrestrained affection, but immediately puts the war first when he explains why he has returned. She admits that the unresolved abduction has disturbed her sleep and agrees that Twilight Rain must be destroyed, then guides him to King Uther instead of delaying the campaign. Lux’s victory eliminates the organization that threatened both her and the throne. Nevreal consequently sees her good relationship with Lux as a way to make him a permanent protector of Gweliven, converting an authentic bond into a political marriage proposal that also serves the kingdom’s security. Anastasia wants that marriage for herself, not merely for policy, but initially pursues it through the coercive habits of a spoiled court. She tricks Lux into placing his thumbprint on marriage documents, then makes clear that she will burn them if he truly rejects her. When Iris, Cai, Aina, and Lux’s other partners destroy the papers, Anastasia holds her ground and explains that competing for the crown was already her refusal to be used as a marriage tool; if forced to choose, she would prefer a life with Lux over ruling. She accepts their judgment that consent and order matter, promises to court him without tricks, remains in Heaven’s Gate, and begins using guild chat to build an ordinary relationship through brief daily conversations. The Abyssal invasion then brings her royal and personal roles together. Lux summons Anastasia, Millie, Nevreal, Thoram, and Keelan to Heaven’s Gate while assigning twenty Calamity-Ranked monsters to defend Gweliven. Anastasia is anxious but accepts the limited force without demanding priority over the other kingdoms Lux must protect. The response vindicates the alliance she has cultivated: her value is not that she personally fights Abyssal monsters, but that she can represent her country in the coalition and secure help powerful enough to alter its chances of survival. Open Heaven’s Gate

With the wars over and Lux’s first wedding approaching, Anastasia refuses to let uncertainty become another lifelong regret. She recruits Henrietta as an ally, argues that surviving death gives Henrietta a second chance to acknowledge her own feelings, and seeks advice from Queen Rhiannon. Lux overhears Anastasia’s insistence that an honest attempt is better than silent regret. Her approach now contrasts directly with the stolen thumbprint: she makes her intentions visible, supports another woman facing the same fear, and lets Lux decide after consulting Iris and Cai. Anastasia attends Lux’s first wedding without knowing that he will accept her pursuit, and the later retrospective confirms that she and Henrietta marry him one year afterward. Following their honeymoon, Anastasia agrees to wait two years before trying to conceive, a decision made with her husband and co-wife rather than imposed by court strategy. At her first appearance, Anastasia is a fifteen-year-old Dwarf with long brown hair, hazel eyes, and an appearance charming enough to attract many noble suitors. She commonly presents an angelic smile and formal curtsy in public, but her expressions readily become mischievous, jealous, or openly affectionate around people she trusts. By her reunion with Lux she is sixteen, still small enough for him to carry easily, and capable of changing from an impulsive embrace in an empty hallway to the composed bearing expected in her father’s throne room. Anastasia begins spoiled, confident that royal favor can buy cooperation, and accustomed to getting her way through charm. Her abduction reveals fear without making her passive: she can trust a narrow escape plan, obey when attacking would be fatal, and later turn trauma into a commitment to govern better. She remains competitive and audacious, especially in love, but develops the ability to accept correction. The clearest change is her response to the burned marriage papers: although hurt, she abandons the trick, states her priorities honestly, and continues through conversation and patient pursuit. These are adaptive strengths, but they depend on reliable information. The network improves coordination and emergency access; it does not grant her a documented personal rank or autonomous teleportation beyond the guild’s established systems.
