Colette

Colette Goldenslayer is the young Dwarf Paladin who becomes Lux's first friend after his arrival in Elysium. As leader of the Golden Slayers Party, she combines mace-and-shield combat, holy attacks, and practical formation command. Her importance extends beyond battle: her immediate trust gives an ostracized Half-Elf a place among the Dwarves, her family connection brings Lux and Aina together, and repeated attempts to use her as leverage reveal how deeply Lux and the Goldenslayer family value her. (Chapters 17–18, 77, 181, 715–721, 958–965, 1013–1019)

Appearance and personality

At twelve, Colette is a blonde Dwarf girl only a little over three feet tall. The narration repeatedly calls her adorable and emphasizes her expressive face: she pouts when displeased, smiles openly when proud, and makes little effort to hide fear, grief, or excitement. Her adventuring appearance becomes more martial after graduation, when she wears light dark-green Faunus Battle Regalia edged with gold and carries a round shield and mace. (Chapters 17, 31, 77, 123, 138, 721)

Colette is friendly before she is cautious. She challenges her companions' prejudice against Lux on the day they meet, offers to protect him during Leaf Village's first outbreak, and later stands between him and older Dwarves despite knowing she cannot win. That courage coexists with vulnerability: the undead outbreak leaves her traumatized, Lux's apparent death devastates her, and abduction frightens her. Experience makes her more prudent rather than less warm; by thirteen, she warns Matty against overconfidence and still welcomes friends with hugs, food, and teasing. (Chapters 17, 20, 36–43, 216, 715–721)

She is also an unabashed matchmaker and an affectionate younger sister. Colette openly idolizes Aina, repeatedly tries to make Lux part of their family, and turns even discussions of ranks and marriage into opportunities to promote the pairing. Her cheerfulness is not obliviousness: she notices danger, worries about separation, remembers betrayals of trust, and chooses her party's safety over prestige. Her acceptance of Matty's proposal at the endpoint resolves a long-running courtship she had understood well before he finally spoke. (Chapters 29, 137–138, 715, 741, 750, 961–965, 1203, 1229)

Biography

Awakening and Leaf Village

Colette enters Elysium as a twelve-year-old from a prominent Dwarven family, eager to adventure beyond the restrictions imposed by her parents. She meets Lux at Leaf Village's gate and questions the hostility of companions who insist that his Human ancestry makes him untrustworthy. Although she cannot talk them down, she continues greeting him and soon calls him “Big Brother.” During the undead outbreak she fights beside the defenders, promises to protect the visibly frightened Half-Elf, and accepts his help when casualties and exhaustion overwhelm the children. Their mutual protection turns an uncertain meeting into Lux's first friendship in Elysium. (Chapters 17–25, 29)

The outbreak leaves Colette and her party with fear they cannot overcome merely by receiving Beast Cores and new Job Classes. In the Bronze Crypt, the Dark Draugr's presence causes her to collapse, forcing Lux and Diablo to hold the monster back until his encouragement restores the children's courage. Colette then resumes command, charges with her mace, and uses Holy Smite to help bring the undead down. When Kobolds later capture most of the party, the ordeal reverses their roles again: Lux risks the nest to free them, and Colette places enough trust in him to rest while he guards their refuge. (Chapters 31–38, 52–63)

Colette's Paladin role matures through the Orc Dominion and the party's graduation preparations. She identifies tactical problems, leads the frontline beside Matty, and accepts challenges because they offer meaningful growth rather than attention alone. The Golden Slayers reach Apostle rank after clearing dangerous objectives, and Colette completes the Dwarven graduation tradition before preparing to leave Leaf Village. Even at that threshold, her greatest anxiety is that moving to an Intermediate Town will separate her from Lux; his promise to find her lets her leave without treating advancement as the end of their shared journey. (Chapters 77–81, 96–127, 137–139)

Intermediate-area dangers expose the gap between courage and power. As Grade-C Apostles, Colette's party accepts a mission to find missing Dwarves because they want to help, only to be defeated and captured by Twilight Rain's Lycan operation. Lux rescues them and brings them to Whitebridge City, where Colette joins Aina's Eternal Guild circle and tries, with characteristic matchmaking embellishment, to recruit him as an Elder. When Lux stages his death to escape Twilight Rain, Colette treats the loss as real: she begs him not to die, tries to follow his body, and is restrained by Aina. His protective deception succeeds tactically but breaks the trust of the friends it was meant to save. (Chapters 181–205, 216–218)

Heaven’s Gate and the continental wars

While Lux builds Heaven's Gate and becomes involved in conflicts far beyond Gweliven, Colette remains with the Golden Slayers inside Aina's Eternal Guild. That position keeps her close to her sister and party, while Aina's refusal to join royal politics and Robin's reluctance to involve his friends shelter the children from the schemes surrounding Lux. The separation is deliberate rather than a sign that Colette has ceased adventuring: Lux repeatedly imagines her party undertaking its own missions and postpones a reunion because revealing their connection could renew Twilight Rain's attacks. (Chapters 285, 308, 368–371, 413–436)

The unresolved cost of Lux's false death defines their relationship throughout this interval. Emma eventually tells Colette and the others that the death was staged, but knowledge does not erase the grief or their anger that Lux did not trust them with the plan. He anticipates being struck with Colette's mace, repeatedly plans an apology, and still thinks of the Dwarves as the first people who made Elysium feel like home. Even his possible Ranker quest echoes Colette's long-standing wish that he marry Aina and formally join the family. By the time he returns, affection remains intact, but forgiveness must be earned face to face. (Chapters 531, 641, 656, 711–715)

The Dragon kingdoms and the Abyss

Colette reappears as a thirteen-year-old Grade-A Apostle leading the Golden Slayers through a Gold-Rank Eternal commission. She knocks a Rank 4 World Boss off balance with Grand Cross and praises the party's teamwork, but refuses Matty's suggestion that they should seek more dangerous missions merely because the victory felt easy. Her warning draws on Eternal's dead adventurers and her own history of defeat: strength is useful only when paired with judgment. She therefore postpones seeing Lux for a day, wanting time to prepare emotionally before confronting the person whose secret had hurt them. (Chapters 715, 721)

That reunion is nearly preempted when Twilight Rain sends the new Ranker Amir to kidnap Colette and force Aina into supporting the Dark Guild. Colette cannot prevent the surprise abduction, revealing the hard limit of an Apostle facing a Ranker, but Eiko and her summons rescue her before Amir can escape. Safely back with her party, Colette thanks Eiko, offers her as much food as she wants, and does not pretend the incident was harmless. The attack changes the scale of protection around her and prompts Lux to dismantle the network that has turned his friend into political leverage. (Chapters 716–723, 725–738, 788)

When Lux finally appears in disguise, Colette recognizes him immediately, throws herself into his arms, and lightly pounds his stomach instead of simply discarding her grievance. The mingled anger, relief, and tears allow the relationship to recover honestly. She soon resumes her familiar efforts to pair him with Aina, misreads their Ranker-trial duel as a lovers' quarrel, and insists that Lux decide before stronger suitors approach her newly promoted sister. Her meddling becomes consequential: it helps keep the possibility of their marriage present until Lux and Aina discover the deeper bond connecting their former lives. (Chapters 720–725, 740–750)

Colette remains an active link among the relationships that now surround Lux. She welcomes Princess Anastasia despite initial suspicion, shares Eiko's companionship without treating the powerful Slime as a weapon, and celebrates Aina's advancement rather than competing with her. Although the campaigns against the Abyss and Dragon kingdoms take place beyond Colette's own rank, Lux's continued operations against Twilight Rain are partly intended to give her and Aina room to live without being abducted again. Her contribution in this phase is therefore both personal and strategic: she restores Lux's first friendship while becoming one of the people his larger alliance exists to protect. (Chapters 722, 740–750, 767, 788)

The Divine Army reckoning

Colette's family establishes the Xeno Kingdom just as an S-Class Beast Tide threatens to destroy it. From the walls, she proudly identifies Lux to her father as the Big Brother she has praised for years, and after the defense she sits comfortably with him while continuing to argue that he should marry Aina. Her matchmaking initially seems like a family joke, but Aina accepts Lux's teasing offer and later reveals their past-life connection. Colette's persistent wish is fulfilled when Lux formally asks for the family's blessing, making her earliest Elysium friend her prospective brother-in-law. (Chapters 958–966)

That new connection makes Colette a target in the struggle following Lux's attack on the Divine Army. When eight Saints enter Xeno to seize the sisters, Colette follows Aina's decision to surrender rather than let their parents and citizens die in an unwinnable fight. Captivity leaves her frightened enough to cry, and she relies on Aina's reassurance. Aina cautions her not to answer questions about Lux, but their captors never interrogate them, so Colette is not forced to test that defense while the sisters wait for rescue. (Chapters 1013–1018)

Lux's arrival ends their captivity, but it also demonstrates the dangerous consequences of making Colette leverage. Aina carries her out under Seraphina's protection while Lux forces the Beast King to turn on the Divine Army's Oracle. He then punishes the rulers behind the abduction and makes the instigating kingdom subordinate to Xeno; afterward, his temporary truce with the Divine Army lets him eliminate Twilight Rain, whose earlier attacks had also endangered the sisters. Colette does not direct those reprisals, yet her safety becomes a boundary whose violation permanently reshapes the politics around her family. (Chapters 1018–1023, 1034)

Open Heaven’s Gate

During the Abyssal invasion, Colette is initially moved with Aina and other protected family members to Espoir Frieden. She does not accept safety as her only role. At the final encampment she and Helen distribute ale that keeps Heaven's Gate fighters alert, then Colette chooses to fight beside Aina from a Gyrocopter. She launches Blast Missiles at flying Abyssal creatures while Matty and her sister stay close enough to intervene. The scene preserves her lifelong pattern: she accepts support but still takes personal responsibility when her family and world are threatened. (Chapters 1154, 1203, 1206)

Peace enlarges Colette's family in two directions. Aina describes her to Luna as a lovable new little sister, extending the Goldenslayer bond across their recovered past-life relationship. Meanwhile, Matty finally proposes because he fears Colette's closeness to Lux might become romantic; Colette accepts, confirming that she had been waiting for him to voice feelings everyone already understood. Her endpoint is neither a new rank nor independent dominion, but a chosen future with her oldest party companion while Lux remains the Big Brother who first earned her trust. (Chapters 1224, 1229)

Paladin abilities and party leadership

Colette's capabilities combine a rare Paladin Job Class with formal Apostle growth, equipment, living companions, and long experience directing the Golden Slayers. The class is explicitly described as an all-rounder path: she can attack in close combat, use magic, and tank when the party needs a defender. Her demonstrated strength rises from Beginner-Zone monsters to a Rank 4 World Boss, but the corpus never makes her independent of formation support or rank differences. (Chapters 36–37, 77, 138, 181, 715)

Paladin combat and holy attacks

Colette selects Paladin as her first Job Class after the Leaf Village outbreak. She normally occupies the frontline with Matty, using a mace for impact and a round shield to intercept charges. Holy Smite channels holy power through a mace strike and is especially effective against undead, as shown when it helps stagger the Dark Draugr. Smite later pushes back a Rank 2 Berserked Horned Rabbit, while Grand Cross has enough force to send the Rank 4 Gutspawn skidding and create a finishing opportunity for Robin. (Chapters 36–37, 77, 138, 715)

These attacks are control tools as much as damage. Colette targets legs or flanks to break balance and follows immediately with a party formation rather than treating the first hit as decisive. Her shield likewise lets her collide with a charging Horned Rabbit before it reaches a fallen adventurer. Defense remains finite: a berserk Rank 3 Alpha Lycan punches through her guard and sends her into a tree, after which the Golden Slayers' formation collapses. Against Amir, an E-Ranker, she is seized before her guards can respond and needs Eiko's intervention. (Chapters 37, 138, 181, 715–716)

Equipment-assisted defense and mobility

Colette receives a Mythical mace and shield after the Orc Dominion quest and later wears Faunus Battle Regalia, a lightweight Mythical armor set. The equipment allows her to withstand ordinary attacks from Rank 2 monsters and contest their momentum, but the text attributes that protection to the gear rather than an innate immunity. It also does not make her safe against stronger Alpha monsters, Rankers, surprise attacks, or restraints; her repeated captures demonstrate the difference between a well-equipped Apostle and opponents operating several formal tiers above her. (Chapters 118, 123, 138, 181, 716)

Her mobility develops through living mounts and battlefield vehicles. Clover, a Carbuncle companion, can heal allies and apply haste as a juvenile and is expected to become rideable when mature. Colette also accepts a Warg mount in the Orc Dominion and learns to ride it, later summoning one while hunting around Leaf Village. In the final war she operates a Gyrocopter and fires its Blast Missiles, giving her a ranged anti-air role far beyond her usual mace reach. These are companion- and vehicle-derived applications, not new Paladin spells. (Chapters 97, 105, 138, 1206)

Formation command and tactical judgment

As party leader, Colette calls battle and Arrowhead formations, assigns the moment to charge, identifies targets that must be removed first, and keeps the frontline aligned with Matty while Andy, Axel, Helen, and Robin contribute ranged or support attacks. Her leadership is responsive rather than rigid: when the Carbuncle continually heals its minions, she tells Lux that they must change priorities; when Grand Cross topples Gutspawn, she leaves the opening to Robin rather than chasing personal credit. (Chapters 36–37, 77–78, 138, 715)

Defeat is a major part of that development. Early trauma freezes her before the Dark Draugr, the Kobold ambush leaves the party imprisoned, and the Lycan mission punishes their belief that a Grade-C assignment is necessarily safe. By Grade A, Colette explicitly rejects Matty's desire to seek stronger missions for excitement, citing adventurers who died after overreaching. Her latest formal state remains Grade-A Apostle: the final war proves that she can support a vastly stronger army with technology and courage, but no later chapter confirms an Initiate or Ranker advancement. (Chapters 36–37, 52–63, 181–187, 715, 1206)

Power progression

Stage / Realm / AbilityChapter(s)Notes
Grade-D Apostle124–137Colette completes the Dwarven graduation tradition after ascending to Apostle rank and prepares to leave Leaf Village.
Grade-C Apostle181Colette’s party undertakes an appropriate mission after safely reaching Grade C.
Grade-A Apostle715Diablo explicitly recognizes thirteen-year-old Colette as a Grade-A Apostle.

Colette's first formal advancement ends her Beginner-Zone period rather than beginning an isolated training arc. Her party reaches Apostle rank, completes the local graduation traditions, and prepares to move to Intermediate areas where their chosen professions can develop through more dangerous work. Grade C is explicitly confirmed when they accept a mission suitable to that state, while the mission's disastrous outcome shows that formal parity with a quest does not eliminate ambushes, Alpha monsters, or poor information. (Chapters 118, 124–137, 181)

By thirteen, Colette has reached Grade A and can help defeat a Rank 4 World Boss through coordinated party combat. The chapters between Grade C and Grade A do not isolate every intermediate promotion, so no exact Grade-B row can be supported. Later appearances show her serving during the Abyssal war, but they do not name a higher mortal-practitioner stage; Grade A is consequently the latest confirmed formal rank within the supplied corpus, not necessarily a claim that she never grew stronger. (Chapters 181, 715, 1203–1206)

Relationships

Lux

Lux and Colette meet as outsiders to each other's expectations: he is the first non-Dwarf to appear in her Beginner Village, while she is the first resident willing to challenge the prejudice around him. Their repeated rescues create a sibling bond in which Colette calls him Big Brother and Lux treats her safety as a personal obligation. Her anger over his false death shows that protection without trust can wound that relationship, and their tearful reunion allows affection to survive without erasing the grievance. (Chapters 17–29, 52–63, 181–218, 711–725)

Aina and the Goldenslayer family

Colette adores Aina and treats her sister's strength as both inspiration and a standard she hopes to approach. She also works persistently to make Lux Aina's husband, first as childish matchmaking and later as a family project supported by genuine trust. Aina reciprocates with fierce protection, carrying Colette away from danger and surrendering to stronger captors to spare their family. Victor initially resists Lux, but Colette's praise and his interventions gradually establish the Half-Elf as the family's defender and eventual son-in-law. (Chapters 29, 127–138, 205, 715, 741–750, 958–966, 1013–1019)

Matty and the Golden Slayers

Matty, Helen, Andy, Axel, and Robin are Colette's enduring adventuring companions. She leads their formations but relies on their specialized attacks, healing, scouting, and companionship; the party's failures and recoveries are collective. Matty openly protects and courts her from the Beginner Zone onward, sometimes becoming jealous of anyone who admires her. Colette understands his feelings, tolerates his premature claims when useful, and eventually accepts his proposal once he directly asks for the future he has long wanted. (Chapters 36–38, 77–81, 107, 138, 181–187, 715, 1203, 1206, 1229)

Eiko

Eiko is one of Colette's closest younger companions. Colette feeds, hugs, and spoils the Baby Slime, while Eiko remembers her as family and reacts violently when Amir tries to abduct her. Colette's gratitude after the rescue is characteristically domestic—she promises Eiko an enormous meal—rather than fearful of the Slime's power. They later share the wider Goldenslayer and Heaven's Gate family created through Lux and Aina. (Chapters 90–99, 129, 138, 715–722, 1224)

Items

No generated notable item is individually assigned to Colette in the finalized inventory. She uses a Mythical mace and shield, Faunus Battle Regalia, mounts, and a Gyrocopter at different points, but none is assigned a generated item link for her article. (Chapters 118, 123, 138, 1206)
