Scarlet

Scarlet is a red-haired Dwarf assassin and the granddaughter of a Twilight Rain elder. She competes with Sid for the Slayer Candidate title by attempting to kill Lux, only to die in his counterattack and return through Blackfire as a Cambion. Initially resentful of her new master, she becomes his undercover agent inside Twilight Rain, later fights openly for Heaven’s Gate, and ultimately marries her former rival.

Biography

Awakening and Leaf Village

Twilight Rain sends Scarlet and Sid to Whitebridge with identical orders: whoever kills Lux will become a Slayer Candidate. Confident in her perfect record and family backing, Scarlet uses a presence-hiding artifact, waits for an isolated route, and strikes first with a basilisk-coated dagger. Her blow kills only Pazuzu, and Sid’s follow-up hits a doppelganger. Scarlet tries to escape with Spiderwalk but Keoza’s fear aura immobilizes her; Lux executes both assassins and revives them through Blackfire. The transformation makes Scarlet a middle-stage Initiate Cambion and magically prevents betrayal, but it does not erase her anger or free will. (Chapters 192, 195–200)

Lux makes Scarlet the infiltrator rather than the bodyguard because her grandfather gives her access inside Twilight Rain. He promises the Slayer Candidate position she originally wanted, while the guild unknowingly supplies the resources that help her approach Ranker strength. Scarlet grudgingly carries out assassinations against Twilight Rain collaborators, kills Reapers who threaten Lux, and later helps undermine kidnappings without exposing her cover. Over time, resentment becomes functional trust: she remains sarcastic and less deferential than Sid, yet repeatedly chooses precise, dangerous work that protects Lux’s allies and weakens the organization that once controlled her career. (Chapters 200–217, 300–304, 390–404, 531, 558)

Open Heaven’s Gate

By the Divine Empire battle Scarlet and Sid are C-Rankers who use chaos and blind spots to dismantle enemy command. They reach High-Ranker before the final war and operate as a pair, limiting their targets to Empyrean enemies and immediately covering one another’s failed strikes. An Outer God’s beam vaporizes both despite Sid’s attempt to shield her, proving that their transformed bodies and accumulated ranks remain mortal before divine-scale power. Lux revives them after the war, and they ask for his blessing to marry. Scarlet walks in the joint ceremony as Sid’s bride, turning an arranged rivalry over who could take a life into a chosen partnership centered on the life they will share. (Chapters 980, 1208–1209, 1229, 1234)

Appearance and personality

Scarlet is a Dwarf woman with long red hair. Her Cambion rebirth preserves her original features but adds two small horns that can be hidden beneath headgear and wings that can extend from her back for flight. A demonic transformation further changes her combat presence, though her recognizable face and hair let former colleagues identify her even under a mask. (Chapters 195, 200, 207)

Proud, sharp-tongued, and practical, Scarlet hates losing control and initially tells Lux plainly that she hates him. She is more openly defiant than Sid and was raised with resources that made confidence easy, yet she possesses the patience and ruthlessness of a trained assassin. Continued service reveals adaptability rather than passive obedience: she protects the people assigned to her, maintains a long deception inside Twilight Rain, and eventually risks herself reflexively for Sid just as he does for her. (Chapters 195–200, 211–217, 304, 390–404, 1208–1209)

Assassin and Cambion abilities

Assassination, poison, and movement

Scarlet specializes in critical vital strikes, stealth artifacts, poisoned blades or arrows, and rapid escape. Her first attack penetrates two shields and kills Pazuzu in one blow; Spiderwalk lets her scale walls, while her bow can deliver rare venom that ordinary clerics cannot cure. These techniques depend on preparation, surprise, and appropriate targets. Keoza’s superior fear aura disables her escape, and Lux later warns that even two Initiate assassins can do little more than scratch a weakened Ranker unless poison and timing create an opening. (Chapters 196–197, 207, 211, 484)

Cambion physiology and demonic transformation

Rebirth grants Scarlet enhanced strength and senses, energy absorption, extendable wings, flight, and a demonic transformation. The transformed state raises her power to the level of a berserk Apex Predator but lasts only one hour, making it a limited trump card rather than a permanent combat level. Her body can evolve from middle Initiate to C-Rank and eventually High-Ranker through resources and experience. Even in full Cambion form she respects rank boundaries and cannot survive an Outer God’s direct beam. (Chapters 200, 207, 304, 980, 1208–1209)

Relationships

  • Sid: Sid is Scarlet’s original rival, frequent combat partner, and eventual husband. Their relationship develops through parallel rebirths and years of mutual protection. (Chapters 192–200, 980, 1208–1209, 1229–1234)
  • Lux: Lux kills and binds Scarlet, then gives her the position, growth, and second life that Twilight Rain promised conditionally. Their early hostility becomes reliable service without making her submissive in personality. (Chapters 197–200, 211–217, 304, 390–404)
  • Twilight Rain and her grandfather: Scarlet’s family connection makes her the ideal mole. The organization’s favoritism supplies her advancement while she secretly works against it. (Chapters 192, 197, 200, 390–404)
  • Aina: Lux assigns Scarlet to protect Aina during Whitebridge’s crisis, an early example of her redirected assassination skills serving defense. (Chapter 214)
