Thoram
Thoram is the Grade A Dwarf commander of the Stronghold of Norria and its mounted Riders. He repeatedly balances sworn duty against the lives under his command, later lending both military experience and practical advice to Heaven’s Gate.
Biography
Awakening and Leaf Village
Thoram commands hundreds of Riders but hesitates when an oath would send them into a dangerous battle, weighing honor against his responsibility for their survival. Robin’s appeal persuades him to commit, and after the Orc Dominion campaign Thoram thanks Lux and promises future aid. When Leaf Village faces another Grand Outbreak, he rides to reinforce it and initially strikes one of Lux’s skeletons because he lacks current information. Learning that Lux’s undead are defending the town corrects the misunderstanding and leaves Thoram owing the Half-Elf a favor rather than treating him as a threat. (Chapters 61, 119, 121, 166)
Abyssal invasion and broken memories
Thoram later joins Heaven’s Gate and applies a commander’s experience beyond the battlefield, recommending revenue-producing alchemy operations and offering family land for guild use. He admits that administrative work has made him rusty, an honest limit rather than false modesty. During the Abyssal emergency he is again summoned as a commander, helps evaluate the threats to the kingdom and Leaf Town, and accepts Lux’s deployment plan. His arc therefore returns him from commercial counsel to active defense, with earlier trust allowing rapid coordination instead of another mistaken clash. (Chapters 416, 434, 1093)
Appearance and personality
Thoram is a Dwarf warrior-commander who carries heavy weapons and projects the authority required to direct a large mounted force; the corpus does not establish a specific hair or eye color. He is honorable but not blindly obedient, because he considers the cost an oath imposes on subordinates. Practical gratitude, willingness to admit error, and later commercial advice reveal a leader concerned with whether institutions and people can endure after a battle ends. (Chapters 61, 119, 166, 416)
Commander abilities
Grade A combat and mounted command
Thoram is a Grade A Apostle and the strongest Dwarf commander in Norria’s territory. He is proficient with heavy weapons, appearing with an axe when pledging his Riders and a warhammer during Leaf’s outbreak, while his greater strength lies in directing roughly five hundred mounted soldiers. His response is bounded by distance and information: reinforcements require travel time, and incomplete battlefield knowledge causes him to attack a friendly skeleton. Years of administrative work also reduce his personal sharpness until circumstances call him back to military duty. (Chapters 61, 166, 434, 1093)
