Yeorum

Yeorum is the name Yu Jitae gives the red hatchling he brings into Unit 301. She enters the household as a proud street fighter who believes strength is the only dependable answer, but her coming Selection Ceremony makes that pursuit a matter of survival rather than sport. Under Jitae's instruction, she develops Karl-Gullakwa into a disciplined combat system, rises through Earth's world rankings, and eventually returns to Askalifa to confront the sister who killed their siblings.

Biography

Defeat, confinement, and a reluctant home

In Africa, the masked fighter called the Fighter of the Night enters battles without joining any faction, defeats combatants without deliberately killing them, and prizes the fight itself. She dismisses Bom's offer of a teacher because her record stands at 199 victories and no defeats. That pride collapses when World Rank 8 Javier Karma overwhelms her even after she draws on her draconic power, leaving Jitae to rescue her from an otherwise fatal loss. (Chapters 5–7)

Jitae declares himself her guardian, carries the wounded hatchling away, and names her Yeorum while explicitly denying her a choice about living under his protection. Bom heals her, but the bodily recovery does not repair the humiliation of defeat; Yeorum turns away and quietly cries. In Unit 301 she appears as a red-haired fifteen-year-old who smokes, avoids the other children, and treats the household as confinement, yet Bom and Kaeul continue drawing her into shared routines. At Lair, Yeorum chooses a combat-heavy education and makes Javier the concrete measure of the power she lacks. Her coarse speech and quick temper cause public friction, while her confidence in violence still exceeds her tactical judgment. Even so, she trains diligently and begins accepting the household's structure: she uses the name Yu Yeorum, permits Jitae to act as guardian, and gradually makes the once-forced home the base from which she pursues survival and revenge. War games and the discipline of Karl-Gullakwa

The Anti-demon War Simulation first shows Yeorum turning raw ability into leadership. Paired with Soujiro and Kim Ji-in, she memorizes hundreds of corridors, maps the competing teams' movements, and redirects her group away from stronger alliances before provoking those rivals into fighting each other. She drives her exhausted teammates relentlessly, but works harder than either of them and wins their cooperation, allowing the rejected cadets to overtake the leading team. (Chapters 39–42)

Her limits become personal when a stronger cadet defeats her in human form and she admits that manifesting her true power felt shameful. Jitae refuses to treat one loss as proof of worthlessness and offers to teach her. Because acknowledging weakness violates the red race's pride, Yeorum can only accept indirectly, but the exchange changes their relationship: the man she called a kidnapper becomes the teacher whose standard she actively seeks, and she begins surrendering pride in exchange for instruction. Jitae teaches her to analyze the battlefield rather than rush at whatever looks strongest. In an S-rank water dungeon, her first plan against Shakargin soldiers fails because she values speed over stealth and precision. After reconstructing the encounter from her unforgetting memory, she removes the mages first and controls the second fight. Two weeks of daily dungeon combat then stabilize the first Pulsations of Karl-Gullakwa, although draining her dragon heart leaves her dizzy, vomiting, and unable to recover between battles. The Chains of Hell training restricts her mana, senses, resistances, blessings, and even ordinary breathing so that she must rebuild stable motion from the dragon heart outward. Yeorum refuses easier assistance despite feeling as though she might die, and Jitae remains beside her through the night. Under that pressure she finally explains the Selection Ceremony: her oldest sister killed the other hatchlings, including the youngest sister who protected her, and Yeorum expects to face the same killer after returning home. Rivalry, restraint, and compassion

Yeorum's growing public success does not eliminate her impulsiveness. During the Peace City dispute, Zhou Luxun and Lyun exploit equipment and provocation to turn sparring into humiliation. Yeorum initially wants immediate retaliation, but recognizes that uncontrolled anger can injure the people around her and follows the legal bout instead. Defeating Zhou without crossing the agreed boundary lets her enjoy revenge while preserving the lesson that anger is useful only when she remains the one directing it. (Chapters 152–157)

That discipline alters her place among the younger dragons. She still bullies and teases Kaeul and Gyeoul, but their reactions begin to matter more than victory in a quarrel. When Kaeul's talents develop quickly, Yeorum experiences the prospect of losing her position as the household's strongest younger sister as a genuine threat. She restrains the resentment instead of attacking Kaeul, revealing that the rivalry now exists inside a family bond she is unwilling to destroy. (Chapters 231–233)

Her concern also reaches beyond the household when BM asks Jitae to preserve the body of the chimera Jung Taebaek. Yeorum argues that an unfortunate birth does not erase an existence's chance to become happy, volunteers to help monitor the body, and presses Jitae to act without demanding a reward. Her appeal changes his decision. The episode exposes a narrow but sincere empathy beneath her aggression: once she recognizes someone as unfairly denied a life, she treats their survival as worth fighting for. (Chapters 185–189)

Tranquil Sea and the world rankings

Kaeul's accelerating growth intensifies Yeorum's fear that effort may not be enough, but a Las Vegas trip gives her a different reason to persist. Pleasure, family activity, and the possibility of an enjoyable future become concrete rather than abstract distractions from revenge. She still seeks strength, yet the goal begins expanding from merely killing her oldest sister to preserving a life she has learned to value, making her later survival training an investment in returning to that life rather than a march toward mutual destruction. Jitae takes Yeorum to the Tranquil Sea because her limited mana capacity causes long missions to empty her dragon heart and destabilize Polymorph. Water mana strips heat and clashes directly with her fire attribute, so even the first two hundred meters forces her to draw mana through a death-level will and then absorb it through controlled Pulsation and meditation. She increases her capacity by roughly twenty percent in nine hours, but the next solitary descent breaks her confidence and she asks to stop. (Chapters 274–278)

Rather than command from the shore, Jitae suppresses his own powers, wounds himself, and enters the water as her equally vulnerable partner. They descend roughly two thousand meters through traps, merman cleaners, crushing mana, and hallucinations. An illusion of Yeorum's dead youngest sister offers her a peaceful red-dragon world, but it cannot recognize the name Yu Yeorum. Remembering Jitae's lessons—to pulsate, breathe, walk, run, see, and hear—she rejects the false refuge and returns with him. (Chapters 279–283)

The ordeal expands Yeorum's mana pool to about eight and a half times its former size and makes prolonged missions sustainable. After graduation and repeated public victories, she receives World Rank 93 and challenges successively stronger veterans rather than treating the number as an endpoint. Her ranking also makes combat an occupation with public consequences: every duel affects reputations and institutional interests, forcing her to apply the restraint learned inside Unit 301 while pursuing opponents able to prepare her for Askalifa. After repeated defeats by World Rank 29 Simon Abkarian, Yeorum uses the fully unsealed Onion Core in her longsword. Ember's explosive acceleration and the core's output let her defeat him, but the amplification also pushes anger directly into her emotions. She keeps control during the winning strike, then submits to Jitae's extreme training in powerlessness and provocation. Even when he simulates betrayal and leaves her able to stab him, she restrains the knife and embraces him, proving that trust and conscious choice can overrule both instinct and the core. Farewell, failure, and the Selection Ceremony

When Jitae suddenly announces that the dragons will return to Askalifa, Yeorum freezes rather than pleading with him. She focuses on a long-awaited rematch with Javier, whose earlier victory had defined her weakness, and treats defeating him as proof that she can survive her oldest sister. Beneath that apparent acceptance, however, the impending farewell disrupts her preparation. She refuses Jitae's help, sharpens her weapon while remembering their time together, and tries to convince herself that the Amusement can end without anything left unsaid. (Chapters 377–386)

Against Javier, Yeorum demonstrates how far Karl-Gullakwa has carried her. Ember crosses a hundred meters in one explosive step, her draconic body endures forces ordinary fighters could not control, and Volcano meets his Solar Sword head-on. She creates several winning openings and recognizes that she is slightly stronger, but her arm repeatedly refuses the finishing thrust. Victory would make the end of her Amusement undeniable, so the feelings she has suppressed sabotage the fight and allow Javier's Circulation of Light to defeat her. (Chapters 386–388)

After the loss, Yeorum claims she remains too weak to leave and asks for another year of teaching. Jitae sees through the excuse but initially responds with criticism of her wasted openings, forcing her to admit that the farewell destroyed her focus. He refuses to postpone the return and gives her Dream Eater as a final weapon. His explanation that attachment and guilt are making him send them away does not satisfy her, but it makes clear that the separation reflects his inability to bear the bond rather than her failure as a student. Yeorum boards the Dimensional Cruise in silence, then forces herself back through the closing door when she realizes she has never properly thanked her teacher. She kneels, calls him Master, thanks him for accepting and raising her, and promises to survive. The farewell converts their relationship from an imposed guardianship into one she openly claims: Jitae is not merely the source of techniques she needs, but the irreplaceable partner whose faith she intends to justify after returning home. Back in Askalifa, Yeorum waits roughly three centuries while her oldest sister delays the Selection Ceremony, trains alone, and fights in the green dragons' war. Ridicule from her race and rejection by her parents test the emotional control she learned on Earth; she refuses to waste herself on every insult and keeps her attention on the promised battle. When the ceremony finally occurs, she overwhelms her sister in speed, strength, precision, and resolve, endures Dragon Breath in human form, and decapitates her before bringing the head to her youngest sister's grave. Recognition in the restored daily life

The restored timeline returns Yeorum to Earth with her memories intact after centuries in Askalifa. She meets the weakened Jitae in the African desert, leaps into his arms, and admits that she missed him before hiding the depth of her emotion behind a joke and an overpowered headbutt. Rejoining Bom and Kaeul lets her resume the noisy habits of Unit 301, but the reunion rests on adult choices and long memory rather than a hatchling's forced confinement. (Chapters 426–428)

Yeorum and Jitae soon return to sparring. Her mature strength initially lets her dominate him while he is still recovering, but his renewed grappling skill eventually pins her and turns the contest into familiar teasing. Once the fight ends, Yeorum finally tells him she killed her oldest sister. Jitae calls her the best in the universe and says she did an excellent job, giving her the acknowledgment she had wanted from the only person who trusted her before she could trust herself. She then recounts the centuries of waiting, her parents' contempt, the Selection Ceremony, and her grief at the youngest sister's grave. Rather than dwelling only on herself, she asks Jitae to care for Bom and protects Bom's confidence even when her own careless hint makes him curious. Yeorum's final life therefore keeps her blunt humor, competitiveness, and appetite for a fight, but places them inside a durable family where gratitude, loyalty, and concern can finally be expressed without an approaching farewell. Appearance and personality

Yeorum's human form is a small, beautiful girl with red or ruby-like hair, crimson eyes, pale skin, and prominent fangs. Her hair grows past shoulder length during her years at Lair. By the Tranquil Sea training, her hands and body carry numerous scars from constant combat; she deliberately leaves many of them visible as evidence of work rather than treating them as blemishes. Her usual expression is a frown or look of displeasure, though family victories readily expose a bright, almost childlike grin. (Chapters 5, 8, 152, 274, 337–338)

Her first defining traits are pride, aggression, profanity, and an intense hatred of losing. She is quick to threaten, enjoys legal opportunities for revenge, and instinctively treats violence as both recreation and problem solving. This does not make her indiscriminately murderous: even as the Fighter of the Night she avoids killing defeated humans, and later she learns to separate useful battle fury from actions that would hurt allies or destroy a future she values. Yeorum's harsh manner coexists with unusual diligence, direct loyalty, and a need for sincere acknowledgment. False comfort irritates her; she would rather hear that her work is inadequate than receive praise she cannot trust. She teases her sisters relentlessly, yet suppresses jealousy, risks valuable possessions for Bom's peace of mind, and speaks for lives she thinks have been denied a fair chance. Over time, emotional control does not soften her into passivity—it lets her decide when anger, restraint, or affection will best protect the people and objectives she has chosen. Powers and abilities

Red-dragon physiology

Yeorum possesses the physical strength, speed, durability, senses, elemental resistance, mana control, unforgetting memory, Dragon Fear, and regeneration of a red dragon. Dragons have three dantians; the upper dantian is the dragon heart, and an Origin Fragment rests beside it during a hatchling's Amusement. Her human Polymorph can conceal her true form and eventually lets her use draconic mana and breath without fully transforming, but maintaining it consumes mana and can unravel when her limited early capacity is exhausted. Her birth is a genuine limitation rather than evidence that all dragons begin equal. Yeorum hatches much later than her sisters and is described as poorly talented by red-dragon standards; before the Tranquil Sea, extended missions empty her dragon heart within hours. She compensates through repeated limit training, a body able to withstand explosive movement, and the survival will that draws ambient mana toward an organism. The Tranquil Sea raises her capacity about 1.2 times on the first descent and roughly 8.5 times by the end, but only through prolonged exposure to conditions that can suffocate or kill her. Karl-Gullakwa

Karl-Gullakwa is the stand-up martial art inherited by the red race through the dragon heart. Jitae teaches Yeorum its progression from Pulsation into breathing, walking, running, seeing, and hearing, using knowledge accumulated from red dragons in earlier lives. Pulsation resonates mana with the heart and supplies the stable rhythm for later movement; an unstable rhythm wastes mana and leaves Yeorum dizzy or vomiting. Chains of Hell accelerate development by suppressing her natural advantages, but the method works by forcing function under extreme pain rather than granting power without practice. The system combines body mechanics with precisely placed explosions. Ember detonates force beneath Yeorum's feet to launch her across tens or even hundreds of meters, demanding a body strong enough to survive the acceleration and calculations accurate enough to place each blast. Volcano carries an explosive flow from the ground through her body and weapon as Karl-Gullakwa's decisive clash technique. She also incorporates its breathing into sword strikes, producing flame aura and, with amplification, a ray comparable to Dragon Breath. Misjudgment is difficult to correct after release because the accelerated attack cannot simply be stopped in motion. (Chapters 283, 338, 343, 387)

Combat method and tactical development

Yeorum fights at close range with fists, fangs, a longsword, fire mana, and breath, relying on mobility to break an opponent's preferred distance. Early on, superior attributes encourage her to attack without a plan; Jitae teaches that stealth and precision can matter more than speed, that battlefield flow should be controlled before a finishing exchange, and that emotions must serve the war rather than decide it. Her unforgetting memory supports exact reconstruction of failed encounters, turning each loss into tactical information for the next attempt. (Chapters 5–6, 42, 95, 337–338, 386–388)

Her strongest applications join several systems at once: Karl-Gullakwa moves the body, dragon mana supplies heat and force, the sword concentrates the attack, and the Onion Core amplifies output. That combination lets her defeat Simon and contend with Javier, but the core's 6.2-fold peak output touches the user's emotions and urges violence. Yeorum first redirects anger into self-injury, an ineffective method, before Jitae conditions her to recognize powerlessness and withstand deliberate provocation. By Chapter 343 she can use the fully opened core without an immediate violent impulse, though the training proves control remains an active discipline rather than immunity. Latest state

After centuries of continued training, war experience, and the Selection Ceremony, Yeorum can fight at the level of adult dragons while retaining fine control in human form. She defeats her older sister despite an attempted full transformation, parries Dragon Breath while advancing through it, and finishes the duel without being diverted by the surrounding race's approval. In the restored world she can initially overpower the weakened Jitae in direct exchanges, use teleportation between dimensions, and resume instruction once his strength recovers. Yu Jitae

Yu Jitae begins as Yeorum's captor and becomes her guardian, teacher, and acknowledged partner in survival. She tests his promises, demands honest standards, and eventually trusts him enough to withstand even a simulation of his hatred without retaliating. He supplies techniques and protection, but his most important gift is certainty that she can survive. Yeorum's farewell gratitude and later need for his acknowledgment show that their bond has grown beyond practical instruction, while their restored sparring preserves the equality she fought to earn. Bom

Bom is Yeorum's elder sister in Unit 301, healer, mediator, and frequent target of irreverent teasing. Their temperaments clash, yet Yeorum recognizes Bom's composure as something worth learning and can read when it is close to breaking. The Onion Core episode makes that care explicit: Yeorum risks an unprecedented combat asset to free Bom from a terror of compensating misfortune. Centuries later she fights in the green-dragon war, worries about Bom's self-destruction, and asks Jitae to treat her with care after their reunion. Kaeul

Kaeul is both a younger sister and Yeorum's most emotionally difficult rival. Yeorum habitually bullies her, but Kaeul's rapid magical and combat growth threatens the identity Yeorum built around being the household's fighter. Choosing not to attack that rival becomes evidence that family has grown more important than hierarchy. They later share the return to Askalifa, maintain contact across centuries, and wait together for a path back to the daily life neither wants to replace with another Amusement. Gyeoul

Gyeoul and Yeorum bicker almost continuously, with Gyeoul resisting Yeorum's teasing through glares, insults, and small retaliations. The hostility is domestic rather than alienating: Yeorum protects her place in the household, notices her growth, and later spends time with her after the restored reunion. Gyeoul's willingness to acknowledge Yeorum's victory over Simon and her centuries-long concern before the Selection Ceremony show the affection beneath their rivalry, while Yeorum remains the sister most willing to provoke the blue dragon into speaking or acting. Her red-dragon sisters

Yeorum's youngest older sister feeds and protects her when the rest of the family rejects the late-hatched child, then secretly keeps her out of the first Selection Ceremony. Her murder gives Yeorum both the reason to survive and the target of revenge. The oldest sister becomes the embodiment of the red race's rule that strength defines another life; by defeating and beheading her, Yeorum fulfills her promise to the dead sister but refuses the belated approval of the race and parents who never trusted her.
