Origin Fragment

The Origin Fragment, also called the Fragment of the Ancient One, is a cluster of authorities beside a hatchling's dragon heart that governs the safeguards and final purpose of an Amusement.

History

The hidden mechanism of repetition

Yu Jitae discovers the Fragment through the deaths and experiments of earlier iterations, but cannot remove or control it by force. Its position beside each hatchling's heart makes it both essential and dangerous: it protects the young dragon's Amusement, restricts attachments that could prevent a return, and participates in the catastrophe that follows when the cycle fails. His attempts to understand it become one of the darkest drivers of his repeated lives. (Chapters 168, 207, and 246)

Myu's experiments and a path home

Myu's examinations expose more of the Fragment's structure while placing Bom's heart under severe strain. Yu Jitae identifies multiple component authorities and uses that knowledge to understand how the hatchlings can be protected, summoned, and sent across dimensions. Recognizing the dimensional-intersection component also gives him a possible way to recover Askalifa's otherwise unreachable coordinates. (Chapters 277 and 292–303)

• The Fragment sits beside a hatchling's upper dantian, or dragon heart, and contains multiple distinct authorities rather than functioning as a single spell. (Chapters 168 and 277)
• Identified components include Heart Suspension, Immediate Summon, Infant Dragon Protection, Long-range Dimensional Intersection, and Amusement Assistance. (Chapters 301–302)
• Its safeguards can preserve a hatchling and force a dimensional return, while Amusement Assistance limits attachment to the world of the Amusement. (Chapters 207 and 302)
• The Fragment resists Yu Jitae's direct attempts to extract, exploit, or neutralize it, making experimentation dangerous to the dragon carrying it. (Chapters 168 and 292–303)
