Kim Ji-in
Kim Ji-in is a Korean marksman whose Eye of a Marksman blessing and methodical planning complement Yeorum's aggressive frontline style. She begins as a gloomy, unsupported Lair cadet using school equipment, but repeated training and battles turn her into a determined Team Mochi sharpshooter who no longer hides either her scars or her willingness to fight. (Chapters 39–43, 112–122, 152–153, 225, 253–254)
Biography
Finding confidence in a difficult team
Ji-in enters the Anti-demon War Simulation visibly unhappy with Yeorum's insults, yet she refuses to stay silent when the team's tactics are unclear. She corrects Soujiro's proposed formation, volunteers for the exposed forward-sharpshooter position because her blessing gives her superior vision, and uses that sight to create openings for Yeorum. Their first-place finish does not erase the social contempt directed at unsupported cadets, but Ji-in finds the courage to answer classmates who mock the team and leaves with renewed pride in what they achieved together. (Chapters 39–43)
When the group reforms for the underground-fissure raid, Ji-in is motivated by fear that her weakness will burden Yeorum. She persists under twenty times normal gravity until she can raise her musket, receives a proper weapon from Yu Jitae, and later preserves an extra route that saves the team after rivals take their planned paths. Against the Spider Queen she accepts the risk of closing distance, survives being kicked into a wall, and uses close-range armour-piercing rounds to destroy three eyes. By Team Mochi's first Association mission, her old gloom has given way to a fighter's composure and her cadet grade has climbed into the 300s. (Chapters 112–122, 152–153, 225, 253–254)
Appearance and personality
Ji-in is a Korean girl who wears glasses and initially carries a melancholy, gloomy expression. Her hair becomes messily tied during the first simulation, and later training leaves a scar extending from her chin toward her neck. By the time Team Mochi begins field work, she deliberately leaves that scar visible instead of erasing or concealing it. (Chapters 39–43, 254)
She is cautious, pessimistic, and sensitive to social judgment, but those tendencies often improve her planning because she prepares for failure cases others overlook. Ji-in can be blunt when Soujiro rambles and initially hesitates under hostile attention; over time, loyalty to her teammates and refusal to become a burden make her willing to argue, endure pain, and fight at dangerous range. (Chapters 40–43, 113, 121–122, 225, 254)
Powers and abilities
Eye of a Marksman
Eye of a Marksman is Ji-in's awakened blessing. It gives her exceptional visual perception, allowing her to identify distant structures in near-darkness and serve as the forward sharpshooter in an underground formation. The blessing is not perfect night vision: she identifies three pillars when Yeorum can see four, and she remains unable to match Yu Jitae's perception through the same corridor. (Chapter 41)
Mana-musket marksmanship and planning
Ji-in fights with a musket-shaped mana gun. She times shots to Yeorum's charges, targets eyes and other weak points, and switches to RT anti-monster armour-piercing bullets for close-range damage against the Spider Queen. Her concentration survives severe impacts, but the weapon's weight and the need for a clear firing line remain practical constraints. Outside direct shooting, she contributes formations, earns an A+ in guiding courses, and prepares reserve routes for a disrupted raid. (Chapters 40–41, 113, 121–122)
Relationships
- Yeorum: Ji-in begins by pushing back against Yeorum's contempt and gradually learns to interpret her abrasive remarks. Admiration for Yeorum's harsher training makes Ji-in determined not to slow her down, while their long-term work in Team Mochi turns that dependence into a shared ambition to become world rankers. (Chapters 39–43, 112–122, 152–153, 225, 253–254)
- Soujiro: Ji-in and Soujiro begin as the two unsupported sharpshooters assigned to Yeorum. She frequently corrects or silences him, but they plan together, combine fire, endure the same training, and support each other emotionally when Yu Jitae's unexpected gift overwhelms them. (Chapters 39–43, 89–90, 102, 112–122, 225, 254)
- Sophia Vorkova: Sophia becomes Team Mochi's second frontline fighter. Her Refraction creates a defensive screen for Ji-in and Soujiro during the Spider Queen battle, while Ji-in later treats Sophia as a close enough teammate to rebuke her and share ordinary cafe conversations. (Chapters 112–122, 152–153, 225, 253–254)
- Yu Jitae: Yu Jitae recognizes Ji-in's lack of institutional support, subjects her to punishing gravity training, and buys her a musket artifact. His methods frighten and exhaust her, but they also give her the equipment and conditioning needed to survive the fissure raid. (Chapters 39–43, 112–114)
Items
Mana-musket artifact
Ji-in begins with a musket-shaped mana gun supplied by Lair. Because she has no guardian or sponsoring organization, she lacks a comparable personal artifact until Yu Jitae buys one after her gravity training. She later uses a musket with scoped precision and selectable RT armour-piercing ammunition as Team Mochi's principal ranged weapon. (Chapters 40–41, 113, 121–122, 254)
Protective necklace
Ji-in receives a Level 1 protective necklace for the B+ fissure raid. It is designed to shield both body and organs and create an emergency protective field after a severe impact. Yu Jitae detects sabotage in the original set before it is worn; a functioning necklace later remains available when a Spider Queen's offspring kicks Ji-in into a wall. (Chapters 114–115, 122)
