Biography

A guardian ruled by pride

Lyun first confronts Yu Jitae after Yeorum humiliates an Erfan cadet, demanding punishment with the fiery manner of a former shock trooper. When another disciplinary meeting follows, he is conspicuously quieter, then avoids Jitae's calls while Erfan secretly manipulates sparring schedules. Jitae finds the guild's guardians celebrating at their dormitory, where Lyun denies involvement, performs outrage for the cadets, and praises Zhou Luxun once the perceived threat has left. (Chapters 111, 152–154)

The collapse of Erfan's campaign

Lyun's hostility becomes ambition when China's Heavenly Gods offer to scout Zhou if Erfan can secure a sufficiently high final rank. Yeorum then targets Erfan's cadets through the matchmaking system, turning Lyun's covert advantage against him. He forces Zhou to carry two shields, breaks furniture when Yeorum counters the plan, and sends a vulnerable lower-ranked cadet forward as a test. As ranks and support prospects collapse, the head guardian's battlefield language about controlling the flow gives way to panic and blame. (Chapters 155–156)

Lyun eventually pursues Jitae with repeated calls and arranges an apology at a bar, but his spoken remorse is false and aimed only at saving Erfan's prospects. His willingness to cut off a finger is sincere, showing desperation without moral understanding. When he interprets Jitae's concern for Ling Ling as sexual interest and offers the child as leverage, Jitae strikes him through a table and crushes his jaw, teeth, and one eye. Erfan does not retaliate, leaving Lyun alive but disgraced and badly injured. (Chapters 157–158)

Appearance and personality

Lyun is a bald Chinese man approximately 170 centimetres tall, with long, lively eyes and a compact body that emits the ferocious aura of shock troops. He smokes almost constantly, and his eyes are compared to a crocodile's when he is brooding. Although his glare and growl project aggression, he avoids direct eye contact with Jitae when frightened. He is proud, performative, and highly conscious of hierarchy. Lyun rages at people he considers vulnerable, flatters Heavenly Gods with repeated bows, and uses anger to hide fear or tactical mistakes. He treats cadets as assets, alternating threats with praise and sacrificing weaker members for the guild's rank. His final humiliation shows that he can suppress pride when desperate, but not that he understands the human boundary he crossed with Ling Ling. (Chapters 154–157)

Powers and abilities

Superhuman background

Lyun is an acknowledged superhuman who previously held a world rank somewhere in the 2000s. His compact body carries the pressure associated with assault troops, and his language shows training in creating, reading, and recovering the “flow” of a battlefield. No named blessing, weapon technique, or direct combat feat is shown, and the earlier ranking is not confirmed as his current position. (Chapters 152, 155–156)

His practical strength lies in tactical preparation and guardian authority. He coordinates cadet schedules, changes Zhou's equipment to counter Yeorum, and uses Erfan's hidden access to competition information. Those methods fail once Jitae controls the matchmaking pattern: Lyun cannot identify how the sniping works, his defensive loadout is countered, and he is physically helpless when Jitae finally attacks him. His latest combat condition is serious facial injury rather than a demonstrated recovery. (Chapters 153–158)

Relationships

Yu Jitae

Lyun treats Jitae as a rival guardian whose apparent institutional backing must be tested, then fears him once Erfan's methods are exposed. He alternates avoidance, public bravado, repeated calls, bribery, and false apology in an attempt to restore his position. Jitae initially considers forgiving him, but Lyun's remarks about Ling Ling end the negotiation and provoke a devastating blow. (Chapters 111, 152–158)

Zhou Luxun and Erfan Guild

Zhou is Lyun's principal candidate and the route through which he hopes to reach Heavenly Gods. Lyun praises him when a scheme appears successful, then berates him as a “hunting dog” after defeat even though the failed shield plan was his own. More broadly, he treats Erfan's cadets as a ranked portfolio: strong candidates receive promises, while weaker ones are sent out to absorb risk. (Chapters 154–156)

Ling Ling

Ling Ling acts more responsibly than her guardian by approaching Jitae with Lyun's business card and asking for reconciliation. Lyun intends the card to arrange an apology, but later reduces her to a bargaining chip when he assumes Jitae prefers young girls. That suggestion exposes the moral emptiness beneath his guardian role and directly causes his beating. (Chapter 157)

Items

Cigarettes and ashtray

Lyun is repeatedly surrounded by cigarette smoke, with full ashtrays marking his agitation during Erfan's collapse. Smoking accompanies his attempts to appear controlled, while thrown ashtrays and broken furniture reveal when that control fails. The cigarettes provide no supernatural effect. (Chapters 154–156)

Dagger and business card

Lyun brings a small dagger to his apology meeting and stabs it into the table while offering a finger as proof of sincerity. Ling Ling earlier delivers his business card to Jitae as a request for contact. Both objects are instruments of negotiation rather than combat equipment: the card secures the meeting, while the dagger cannot make his false apology credible. (Chapter 157)
