Shen Xi — Against the Gods

Shen Xi, known in the ancient era as Longshen Xi, is the disciple of the Creation Goddess of Life Li Suo, the daughter of the Primordial Azure Dragon, and the last known master of the Divine Miracle of Life before its transmission to Yun Che. The God Realm calls her the Dragon Queen, but she is never Long Bai's wife or partner; the title is a protective fiction that lets her live undisturbed in the Forbidden Land of Samsara. Her healing saves Yun Che from the Brahma Soul Death-Wishing Mark, her instruction gives him light profound energy, and their daughter Yun Xi later reveals that Shen Xi survived Long Bai's assault and reached the Abyss. Her present condition remains unresolved.

Biography

Ancient disciple and the Dragon Queen title

Shen Xi's recovered ancient name is Longshen Xi. She is Li Suo's disciple and addresses the Creation Goddess of Life as her master; surviving memories show a younger Shen Xi living in the Divine Palace of Life and helping name Li Suo's foster daughter Ling Wanhu, later known as Hong'er. Yun Xi's lineage also identifies the Primordial Azure Dragon as Shen Xi's father. These disclosures explain Shen Xi's command of the Divine Miracle of Life, her knowledge of the lost divine age, and the instinctive recognition that overwhelms her when she encounters Hong'er again, although the full path by which she reaches the present era is not disclosed. Three hundred and fifty thousand years before Yun Che's arrival, Shen Xi finds the young Long Bai mutilated and abandoned by his own race. She restores his eyes, tongue, meridians, and profound veins with light profound energy, then guides him as he rises to become Dragon Monarch. Long Bai turns gratitude into an obsession that Shen Xi repeatedly rejects. He eventually gives her the public title of Dragon Queen and makes her dwelling inviolable, while she accepts only because it protects her seclusion. In her eyes he remains a junior; no marriage or intimate bond exists, and she tells him plainly that the world's Dragon Queen has never truly existed. (Chapter 1318)

Shen Xi nevertheless supports the Dragon God Race for hundreds of thousands of years, supplying Divine Water of Life and Dragon God Jade Nectar while inhabiting the Forbidden Land of Samsara. Her body, soul, and higher power are bound there by unnamed fetters, limiting how long she can remain away. She seeks freedom rather than authority and believes she has finally found a means to break those restraints shortly before meeting Yun Che. The arrangement with Long Bai therefore gives her privacy but also traps both of them in different illusions: he treats her accepted title as his one private dream, while she underestimates how violently he will react when that dream ends. Healing Yun Che in the Forbidden Land

Xia Qingyue carries the dying Yun Che across divine regions and begs Shen Xi to remove the Brahma Soul Death-Wishing Mark. Shen Xi initially refuses to intervene in mortal affairs, even though she and Qianye Ying'er are the only people capable of removing the curse. She changes her decision when He Ling, her wood-spirit disciple, recognizes He Lin's royal orb within Yun Che and kneels for him. Shen Xi admits Yun Che into the forbidden land, suppresses the curse once every day, and first estimates that a complete cure will take fifty years. Her exception protects him from Qianye Ying'er and gives the desolate He Ling a living connection to her lost brother. (Chapters 1299–1305)

Close examination reveals far more than a patient. Shen Xi detects the Dragon God's soul in Yun Che, identifies the Sky Poison Pearl, and recognizes Hong'er as Wan Hu, the foster daughter once raised by Li Suo. She keeps these discoveries private and allows Hong'er to remain unaware of their ancient connection. She also understands that the Sky Poison Pearl has lost its original poison spirit and proposes that He Ling become its new spirit, both giving He Ling a path to revenge and restoring the treasure's dormant poison power. Shen Xi performs the union after securing He Ling's resolve and forcing Yun Che to confront whether his objections serve He Ling or merely his own conscience. (Chapters 1303 and 1316–1323)

Shen Xi's treatment becomes instruction and shared cultivation. She gives Yun Che her vital yin, discovers that his body can naturally control the light profound energy it receives, and teaches him the Divine Miracle of Life. Their combined practice shortens the cure from decades to months, helps his profound strength reach the Divine King Realm, and purifies the Brahma Soul Death-Wishing Mark completely. The same period lets Shen Xi deepen her own comprehension of the latter half of the divine art. Although her original interest includes preserving light profound energy after her eventual disappearance, her decision to become intimate with Yun Che and imagine a life with him is explicitly her own rather than a consequence of the Dragon Queen title. A chosen future and Long Bai's betrayal

Shen Xi tries to redirect Yun Che's strength toward survival rather than revenge. She explains the nature and limits of light profound energy, warns him not to reveal it, and urges him to grow beyond enemies whom he cannot yet confront. When the lingering soul of Heavenly Wolf Xisu reveals the Star God Realm's plan for Jasmine, Shen Xi restrains Yun Che rather than permit an obvious suicide mission. He Ling's plea and Yun Che's willingness to tear his own body apart finally persuade her that saving his life does not give her ownership of his destiny. She releases him, places the Star God Realm's location in his soul, and lets him leave despite believing that the future she had envisioned has ended. (Chapters 1314, 1324–1327)

Yun Che departs without knowing that Shen Xi has conceived their daughter. Pregnancy weakens Shen Xi's aura and delays the breaking of her restraints, but she names the child Yun Xi and resolves to leave the Dragon God Realm after giving birth. When Long Bai returns, she refuses to hide either the child or her choice: she tells him that her body, future, and motherhood are hers alone, rejects his claim upon the title Dragon Queen, and orders him to abandon his delusion. Her honesty is meant to sever an impossible attachment and free both of them, but it instead destroys the last restraint on his possessiveness. (Chapters 1400–1401)

Long Bai attacks Shen Xi's womb at close range. Bound, pregnant, and completely unprepared for violence from the junior she once saved, she cannot release even her light profound energy before the blow lands. The attack ruins the Forbidden Land of Samsara, grievously wounds her, and makes Yun Xi's aura vanish. Shen Xi answers Long Bai's remorse with hatred, swears vengeance if her child dies, and enters a mysterious white whirlpool that removes both her body and aura from the God Realm. Her higher power and ancient origin do not make her invulnerable: while fettered she cannot match Long Bai in battle, and his surprise attack reaches her before she can defend herself. (Chapter 1402)

A false death and the ruined forbidden land

Long Bai seals the devastated forbidden land behind a soul-infused barrier and announces that the Dragon Queen has entered a long seclusion. He searches secretly for Shen Xi while allowing even the Dragon Gods to believe she remains inside. Years later, the Azure Dragon God finds traces of her light aura in the God Realm of Absolute Beginning, but those traces are a trail deliberately laid by Xia Qingyue with blood recovered from the ruins. The deception confirms only that Long Bai does not know where Shen Xi went; it neither proves her presence there nor supports the public story of seclusion. (Chapters 1714, 1823, and 1924–1925)

After Long Bai's defeat, Yun Che enters the ruins and finds Shen Xi's blood, her lingering light aura, and bamboo tablets bearing the names Yun and Xi. He interprets the site as her grave and erects a memorial, still unaware that the characters name their daughter rather than simply express Shen Xi's longing for him. His later visits preserve her memory and reject the false Dragon Queen designation, but they also establish the depth of the mistaken conclusion: no body was found, and the recovered blood and broken home reveal violence without proving death. The truth emerges only after Yun Che enters the Abyss. Yun Xi, living under the names Long Xi and Long Jiang, identifies Shen Xi as her mother and Yun Che as the father she refuses to acknowledge. Her existence proves that Shen Xi survived Long Bai's attack, carried her child into the Abyss, and gave birth there. Shen Xi raises Yun Xi long enough to name her, teach her the Divine Miracle of Life, and tell her about Yun Che, but the safety and companionship she sought beyond the Dragon God Realm do not endure. Disappearance in the Abyss

Yun Xi's account makes clear that Shen Xi endured a period of pain and desperation alone in order to save her daughter. She later disappeared during Yun Xi's childhood, leaving the girl with a tombstone and the conviction that her mother still “exists” in some recoverable state. Yun Xi spends decades seeking five supposed spirit treasures that the Abyssal dragon lord claims can awaken Shen Xi, trading her blood essence for protection while refusing to abandon that last hope. The five-treasure prescription is ultimately exposed as a lie designed to keep Yun Xi useful to the dragons, so it provides no reliable explanation of Shen Xi's condition or means of return. By the latest account, Shen Xi has not reappeared, spoken, or been independently sensed. Yun Xi still seeks a Primal Flame Crystal and other means to awaken her, while Yun Che promises to bring both mother and daughter home if he survives the Abyss. Their hope is emotionally sincere but not confirmation that resurrection or recovery is possible. Shen Xi's latest established status is therefore missing in the Abyss: she survived the God Realm attack and lived long enough to raise Yun Xi, but whether she remains alive, suspended, dead, or preserved in some other form is unresolved. Appearance and personality

Shen Xi has a transcendent beauty that the God Realm places at the summit beside Qianye Ying'er. She normally hides her face and figure inside sacred white light, appearing as a dreamlike silhouette whose voice is soft enough to calm anger and whose presence makes the Forbidden Land of Samsara resemble a living paradise. When she dismisses the veil, she has snow-white skin, luminous eyes, and features so overwhelming that both Yun Che and He Ling lose their composure at the sight. Her daughter inherits the same snow-bright complexion and incomparable appearance. (Chapters 1300, 1312, 1317, and 2174)

Her ordinary manner is gentle, restrained, perceptive, and almost impossibly patient. She speaks without the arrogance expected of someone whom god emperors revere, saves the abandoned Long Bai and He Ling, and prefers healing, instruction, and moral argument to force. That compassion is not submission. Shen Xi draws sharp boundaries around her autonomy, refuses to reward Yun Che's self-destruction merely because she loves him, and tells Long Bai without ambiguity that no title gives him a claim over her body or future. When he attacks Yun Xi, her calm becomes grief and absolute hatred, showing that sacred composure does not erase either maternal attachment or the capacity for vengeance. Shen Xi can also misjudge emotions that do not fit her long isolation. She does not understand why Yun Che would knowingly risk death for Jasmine, and she believes centuries of clear rejection should have taught Long Bai to accept an impossible relationship. In both cases she changes course when confronted with the other person's choice: she releases Yun Che because his destiny is his own, but her equal respect for her own freedom meets catastrophic possessiveness in Long Bai. Her development is therefore less a loss of serenity than a painful recognition that compassion, instruction, and reason cannot control another person's will. Abilities and cultivation

Divine Miracle of Life and light profound energy

Shen Xi is the foremost present-era practitioner of light profound energy and the inheritor of Li Suo's Divine Miracle of Life. The art creates, restores, cleanses, and saves rather than destroys: she rebuilds Long Bai's mutilated senses and profound foundation, suppresses and removes the Brahma Soul Death-Wishing Mark, revives damaged plants, purifies curses, and transmits both high medical knowledge and laws of Creation to Yun Che. Light is also the natural counter to darkness, but the relationship is reciprocal; darkness can corrode light just as light purifies darkness. Its direct offensive force is explicitly weaker than ordinary profound energy, so its sacred nature does not make it an all-purpose combat art. (Chapters 1314, 1318–1319, and 1321–1323)

The Divine Miracle of Life normally requires a sacred body and sacred heart, conditions Shen Xi believes no longer occur naturally in the declining world. Her teaching can convey principles and technique, but it cannot by itself create compatibility: He Ling cannot manifest light profound energy despite her royal wood-spirit origin, while Yun Che's effortless control surprises even Shen Xi. The art can extend life, reshape the practitioner toward greater purity, and treat conditions beyond conventional medicine, yet results depend on the user's power and the injury. Shen Xi cannot instantly remove Yun Che's curse at first, and later comparisons establish that even her healing falls far short of Li Suo's weakened Creation God miracle. Bound primordial power

Shen Xi states that the level of power she possesses surpasses everything in the contemporary universe, including Long Bai. This describes the nature or level of a sealed power, not a demonstrated cultivation realm. The unnamed fetters binding her to the Forbidden Land restrict her body, soul, and power; only light profound energy escapes them, and even breaking the restraints would not immediately let her control or release the higher force. No numbered Divine Master level, Half-God realm, or later formal advancement is established for her. Her practical battle capacity must therefore be judged by what she can actually use, not by the inaccessible power within her. (Chapter 1324)

That distinction defines her limits. Shen Xi can suppress Yun Che so completely that he cannot move, perceive ancient souls and artifacts, and command the respect of Long Bai and god emperors, but her usable light profound energy is poorly suited to killing. Pregnancy further weakens her, and Long Bai's point-blank surprise attack breaches her before she can summon a defense. Her subsequent survival demonstrates extraordinary endurance or escape, not victory over him. With her current condition unknown and no later feat performed by Shen Xi herself, nothing establishes that the fetters were fully removed or that her sealed power ever became combat-ready. Perception, knowledge, and spiritual rites

Shen Xi's perception reaches beyond ordinary profound sensing. She distinguishes Yun Che's Dragon God soul, the Sky Poison Pearl, Hong'er's ancient identity, and the residual spirit of Heavenly Wolf Xisu; reads the quality of Xia Qingyue's Heart of Glazed Glass; and understands formations, divine inheritances, and records lost to the present God Realm. Her knowledge lets her infer the Star God Realm's forbidden ceremony and the construction of its Absolute Star Soul Barrier from indirect signs. These insights are exceptional but not omniscient: she cannot explain Yun Che's compatibility with light, foresee Long Bai's attack, or determine the full future promised by her sealed power. She is also capable of soul- and artifact-related rites. Shen Xi recognizes that the Sky Poison Pearl lacks a poison spirit, determines that a royal wood spirit is uniquely suited to replace it, and guides He Ling's permanent union with the treasure. She can place knowledge and spatial directions directly into Yun Che's soul, erect binding light around him, and sustain the pure environment of the Forbidden Land through her presence. None of these abilities grants ownership over another's will: she asks He Ling to choose the irreversible poison-spirit bond and ultimately releases Yun Che when she accepts that protection does not justify deciding his destiny. Latest state

Shen Xi's latest demonstrated personal abilities belong to the period before and immediately after Long Bai's attack. The surviving Yun Xi inherits Shen Xi's light profound energy and Divine Miracle of Life, but the daughter's feats are not Shen Xi's own progression. Likewise, Li Suo's reawakening clarifies Shen Xi's ancient education and comparative limits without supplying Shen Xi a new realm. With no confirmed appearance after her childhood disappearance from Yun Xi's life, her usable power, physical state, and capacity to return are all unknown. (Chapters 2017–2019, 2117, and 2185)

Yun Che: Shen Xi saves him from the Brahma Soul Death-Wishing Mark, gives him light profound energy, teaches him the Divine Miracle of Life, and helps him reach the Divine King Realm.
