Jormungandr

Jormungandr, better known as the World Serpent, is an ancient Beast God and one of Loki's three divine children alongside Fenrir and Hel. He first appears when Michael Fang opens a Divine Summoning Scroll, but he does not behave like an ordinary Summon: he rejects a Link of Loyalty, merges voluntarily with Michael, and seals most of his own power so the young Lord can survive hosting him. The narrative continues calling him the World Serpent until Fenrir names him in Chapter 913; “Jomungandr” and “Jormungadnr” are spelling variants in the local text, not separate beings.

Biography

Arx, the Sacred Desert, and Bloodline Revelations

Jormungandr enters Arx through a Divine Summoning Scroll with enough pressure to flatten life throughout the Untamed Jungle's outer ring and damage the Summoning Gate. He identifies Michael as a marked “Cursed Child,” recognizes the other being already sealed within him, and chooses Michael as a vessel without establishing the expected Link of Loyalty. His world-spanning body disappears into Michael and becomes a black-scaled Living Image across his back and neck. Although Michael fears being devoured, Jormungandr voluntarily seals his own strength, permits access to one Serpent Seal, and warns that exposing his true presence would attract lethal attention. (Chapters 686–690)

The arrangement becomes an alliance when Michael extracts Daniel's tiger-shaped Curse from his Living Soul. Jormungandr pins the Curse within its mindscape, manifests a portion of his gigantic head, and swallows the expelled entity so that he and the resident wolf being can consume it on their own ground. The victory helps save Daniel, opens Michael's second Serpent Seal, and makes the relationship more intimate despite continued mistrust. Jormungandr then gives Michael rare knowledge about the Will, the Achievement Shop, racial debts, and the Origin Expanse, before lending Seals and reinforced strength for the Sacred Desert battle against the Undead Pharaoh. The Nest and the Supreme Human Alliance

Against the Undead Pharaoh, Jormungandr exploits the opening Michael creates in the corrupted domain. Serpent heads bite and drain the Staff of Epos, while onyx scales form armor that physically holds Michael's breaking body together. Consuming the Artifact's curse power opens a third Serpent Seal and pushes the fourth toward release, but Jormungandr deliberately avoids revealing his complete body and refuses to become an effortless solution to every battle. He accepts the power as payment, helps exorcise the Pharaoh's surviving Curse, and leaves Michael alive but badly strained by strength his Lesser-Lifeform vessel was never built to contain. Michael's Higher Ascension in the Nest changes their balance. Jormungandr uses Origin Sap to purge impurities, initiate a bodily shedding, and strengthen Sacred Constitution, while Michael gains control over which Serpent Seals receive energy. The resulting Major Seal binds the World Serpent more tightly to his host, meaning departure would cost him permanent Essence. Rather than withdraw, Jormungandr helps develop Curse Transformation and Curse Fusion, gives Michael scales, a tail, fangs, and physical amplification, and eventually alters Sacred Constitution into a main Soultrait closely synchronized with his power. He remains an ally with private motives, not a subdued servant. (Chapters 783–834, 894–897)

Jormungandr's ancient knowledge becomes as important as his force. He explains Twin Fate, advises Michael's growth, recognizes the Nest's Living Images, and helps identify Beelzebub as a Taboo bound to Glutton. He admits that he selected Michael partly to avoid being returned to a timeless void, revealing self-preservation beneath his warnings and assistance. The arc also establishes a firm limit: even Jormungandr and Fenrir cannot overcome the Greater Demon facing Michael without pouring in enough Essence to kill their host. His support is immense, but all power channeled through Michael remains constrained by the vessel that makes his freedom possible. (Chapters 771, 783, 897–900)

Trials, Divinities, and the Titan War

Jormungandr finally receives his personal name when Fenrir orders him to help counter Blood Incursion. He explains that God Curses reform if even a trace of their curse power survives and that the Supreme Human Alliance hunts their vessels before Divine Ascension can grant too much access to divine power. He then helps Michael study the Numbers' memories, design the dangerous cure that saves Kaleb and Zeke, and poison curse power so it attacks Blood Incursion from within. The revelation clarifies rather than replaces his identity: Jormungandr is the World Serpent, an ancient Beast God whose constrained existence in Michael is treated as a Beast God Curse. During the Temple of the Forgotten trials, artificial regression weakens Michael's connection with Jormungandr without erasing it. A single Serpent Seal still reinforces Sacred Constitution, and recovered energy gradually restores their communication and more than fifty sealed manifestations. Jormungandr uses the trial to teach Rune Vortex from successive low-Tier perspectives and helps create a Perfect Soul Technique around Sacred Constitution's absorption. In later combat, Curse Fusion grants his eyes for Basilisk's Petrification, serpent armor and regeneration, while his poison weakens Divine enemies. These abilities remain counterable: a Dragys Lordess burns through paralysis and reduces the poison's effect with her own flames. (Chapters 920–924, 942)

Michael's Divine growth gives Jormungandr a channel for more of his original nature. The World Serpent's Divinity Seed blossoms into a Power Divinity, his Authority reinforces Michael's transformed body, and his God Curse poison can kill opponents whose ordinary resistance would withstand mortal toxins. Jormungandr advises on forming Divinities, Laws, and Authorities while warning that Soultrait star rating alone cannot supply enlightenment. Although their Divinity is expressed through Michael, the story distinguishes the source: Jormungandr and the other God Curses channel their own divine power through the vessel, nourishing both Michael's Seeds and their access to the outside universe. God Wars and the Primal Conflict

Jormungandr teaches Michael why Pure Aether frightens Gods and Primals: it can directly wound Essence, the foundation of their existence. When a Volcano God tries to take the World Serpent's Power Authority, Jormungandr rejects the demand and supports Michael with Power, poison, scales, and Swallow Domain. His massive body appears outside Michael to coil around and consume dying planets, although the text does not clarify whether this is a projection or a brief physical emergence while he remains bound. Their intertwined state is so close that the Authority cannot simply be handed over without killing Michael. (Chapters 1004–1009)

The first encounter with a Primal exposes the ceiling of that union. Jormungandr, Fenrir, and Hel cannot defeat the enemy directly through Michael, so their intervention becomes preparation for escape and later revolt. Michael eventually assumes the Will's authority and releases all three God Curses in Chapter 1078. Jormungandr regains a colossal independent body, reunites with his serpent children, persuades Michael to free other Beast Gods, and uses the Power Authority to discipline those who threaten immediate violence. Freedom changes him from a hidden passenger into an open ally, but it does not end the friendship formed under compulsion and shared survival. (Chapters 1012–1018, 1078–1079)

Jormungandr joins the Gods against the Primal as a defender, using the Power Authority through his scales to absorb barrages that would otherwise strike his siblings. Repeated attacks eventually shatter a scale and pierce him, demonstrating that even his restored body is neither invulnerable nor instantly regenerative without Michael's healing. After Michael reconnects the Primals with the Origin Expanse, Jormungandr stays behind with Fenrir and Hel rather than follow the departing coalition. He comforts their exhausted friend, encourages him to create challenges and observe new legends, and gives Michael a purpose beyond endless emergency. (Chapters 1088–1093)

Appearance and personality

Jormungandr's full body is a serpent vast enough to circle worlds. He has armor-like scales in dark green and black, a broad ancient-looking skull, luminous yellow-gold eyes, and long hooked fangs whose venom damages even the fabric of the void. His maw can swallow continents, and his length appears to stretch from horizon to horizon in endless loops. While sealed within Michael, that body is represented by a detailed black serpent Living Image moving across his back and neck; activated Serpent Seals illuminate individual scales within the image. (Chapters 686, 689–690, 1078)

Pride, appetite, and secrecy shape Jormungandr's early behavior. He calls Michael “little one,” intrudes into his thoughts, threatens to eat Daniel's Living Soul when irritated, and withholds truths he considers unsafe for Lesser Lifeforms. He is easily offended when research understates Divine Summons and enjoys consuming curse power, yet the arrogance is paired with restraint. He seals himself rather than destroy Michael, does not seize every opportunity to dominate the vessel, and repeatedly limits his visible strength to avoid attracting the enemies who imprisoned him. Over time, his dry mockery becomes familiar banter rather than intimidation. Jormungandr teases Fenrir, mocks Michael's overthinking, calls out cold-blooded choices, and can be petty when excluded from Michael's mind. He is also an exacting teacher and a perceptive friend: he supplies difficult cosmological knowledge, notices useful details in memories, argues for sparing researchers, and remains with Michael after the final war. His desire for freedom never disappears, but the end of the corpus shows that he values the relationships formed while imprisoned enough to return by choice. (Chapters 771–899, 913–995, 1093)

World Serpent curse, Laws, and Authorities

Beast God Curse and Living Image

Jormungandr begins the supplied story as an ancient Beast God whose Divine Summoning produces an anomalous curse-like state. Instead of being reset to a Tierless Summon or receiving a Link of Loyalty, he enters Michael and constructs a Living Image. Countless self-imposed seals restrict his true power because Michael's body cannot contain it; opening a Serpent Seal lets Michael borrow a fraction of Jormungandr's physical force. The arrangement is voluntary at first, though Higher Ascension later intertwines their Essences closely enough that leaving would require Jormungandr to abandon a permanent part of himself. (Chapters 686–690, 785–790)

The World Serpent's relation to the term “Curse” is revealed gradually. Evalynn senses him as a second Curse, while Jormungandr initially encourages Michael not to reveal what he is. Fenrir later names him and the narrative calls both siblings Beast God Curses: divine beings whose power persists, reforms from surviving curse power, and can be channeled through a compatible vessel. Chapter 1078 shows that this form is not his entire identity. Once Michael has the authority to release him, the constrained Curse returns to the independent World Serpent body without becoming a different person. (Chapters 690, 897–900, 913, 1078)

Serpent Seals, Major Seal, and host limits

Each accessible Serpent Seal releases more of Jormungandr's curse power into Michael. One Seal is available after the merger, a second opens after Daniel's Curse is consumed, and further Seals crack as Jormungandr devours curse power from the Staff of Epos and Undead Pharaoh. Origin Sap and Seal Fusion eventually organize the individual seals into a constellation and a Major Seal. Michael can then choose which seals to nourish and how much power to activate, a control Jormungandr does not always welcome but accepts as part of their increasingly mutual survival. More open seals increase capability but do not make Michael a limitless container. Serpent power can crack his body, compound the toll of Soul Techniques, and become fatal if Jormungandr channels too much Essence. Scale armor holds damaged limbs together rather than preventing the internal overstrain that caused the damage. Jormungandr explicitly says that fighting a Greater Demon at full output would kill Michael, and even Greater Enhancement cannot make unrestricted access safe. After independent release, this vessel limit disappears for Jormungandr himself, although his body remains vulnerable to sufficiently concentrated Primal Essence. Curse Transformation and serpent body manifestations

Curse Transformation connects Serpent Seals to chosen physical features, while Curse Fusion layers Jormungandr's body with Fenrir's and later Hel's influence. Jormungandr can give Michael interlocking onyx scales, a massive tail, claws or fang-like projections from the knuckles, and serpentine eyes. These manifestations raise strength, defense, and attack reach; the scales can also reconnect severed limbs so healing serum restores them rapidly. The two siblings' parts are not naturally compatible, and overlapping transformations initially clash until Michael learns to allocate different anatomical regions through their Major Seals. Jormungandr reshapes Sacred Constitution and the Heavenly Beast Physique technique to fit his Essence. Sacred Constitution becomes Michael's second main Soultrait and performs for the World Serpent as Extraction does for Fenrir, improving physical amplification, energy processing, and compatibility with Serpent power. The bond is an interaction, not proof that every effect of Sacred Constitution belongs innately to Jormungandr. Once the siblings separate from Michael, he retains Divinities developed through them, while Jormungandr again relies on his natural body and his own Law and Authority. Swallow Domain and consumption

Swallow Domain is Jormungandr's large-scale consumption power. Through Michael it devours surrounding energy, heat, lifeforce, curse power, and other usable material, which can then support techniques or be stored and transformed through Michael's separate abilities. In direct manifestation, Jormungandr can envelop dying planets and consume them, leaving their cores available for Michael's plans. The domain is powerful enough to drain Higher Lifeforms and weaken divine attacks, especially when reinforced with his Essence, but the corpus does not establish that every consumed target is destroyed instantly or that the domain bypasses all divine resistance. (Chapters 834, 864–865, 1009)

His consumption also operates in close combat. Jormungandr's projected heads sap the Staff of Epos, his Essence swallows Daniel's extracted Curse, and his full maw can consume continental masses. These acts nourish his Seals or supply curse power, explaining the hunger and satisfaction he expresses after potent meals. Consumption is not mechanically identical to Fenrir's Extraction: Jormungandr takes material or energy into his domain and body, whereas Fenrir's power is expressed through Michael's Extraction Soultrait. Their cooperation is especially effective because Extraction exposes and drains a target while Swallow Domain removes what becomes available. (Chapters 692, 761–765, 834, 1009, 1078)

Poison, Basilisk's Petrification, and the Law of Poison

Jormungandr's fangs deliver curse poison that weakens energy systems, dulls senses, and can continue damaging Divine Lifeforms after the initial wound. Michael applies it through claws, projected fangs, Qi cuts, and Curse Fusion. The poison is not universally lethal: the Dragys Lordess resists it and burns away some of its effect, while strong enemies can slow its progress. Once Jormungandr is openly divine, the story distinguishes stronger God Curse poison and later identifies his Law of Poison, which can infect even a Primal's Essence-based attacks. Basilisk's Petrification requires Jormungandr's eyes to merge with Michael's through Curse Fusion. Fueled by Beast God Essence plus the energy and lifeforce of ten Divine Lifeforms, it paralyzes the Tier 8 Dragys Lordess for roughly one crucial second. Her ignited energy system burns the effect away, proving the technique is powerful control rather than permanent stone transformation or an unavoidable execution. Jormungandr also theorizes a slow poison that destroys and regenerates affected mind and soul tissue to cleanse Blood Incursion, but the corpus presents this as a proposed treatment requiring enormous nutrients and energy, not a completed universal cure. Power Divinity and Authority

Jormungandr's Divinity is associated with Power, and its blossoming gives Michael access to a Power Authority while they are intertwined. The Authority increases raw physical performance, reinforces shields and serpent scales, and lets Michael contest Demi-Gods and Gods above his formal Tier. Enemies value it highly enough that a Volcano God delays completing his own Divinity in hopes of taking it. The attempt fails in principle because Jormungandr's Authority is bound to the World Serpent's existence; Michael can channel it, but cannot hand it over as an ordinary item or unattached Soultrait. (Chapters 979–982, 1006–1009)

After release, Jormungandr uses the Authority independently to suppress his children and withstand large numbers of Primal Essence Spears. It raises the strength of his immense body and natural armor, but does not provide absolute defense: repeated attacks on the same scale eventually break through. Jormungandr combines Power with the Law of Poison when he turns offensive, showing that his divine identity includes complementary force and venom rather than a single generic strength boost. The endpoint does not state a numbered divine Tier for him, so his exact formal rank remains unstated. (Chapters 1079, 1088)

Ancient knowledge and technique design

Jormungandr remembers the Origin Expanse's old theories, racial achievement system, asylum debts, Beast Gods, Laws, Authorities, Aether, and the Primals. He uses this knowledge selectively, warning that some truths would draw the Will's notice or cannot safely be understood by a weak vessel. His explanations correct Michael's assumptions and guide decisions about the Achievement Shop, Pure Aether, Divine cultivation, and enemy identification. Because he openly admits that even he lacks the complete history known to the Will and Primals, his cosmological accounts are informed testimony rather than omniscience. (Chapters 706–708, 771, 897–900, 995, 1004)

He is also a capable Soul Technique designer and combat analyst. Jormungandr creates a Perfect Soul Technique that maximizes Sacred Constitution's absorption and circulation, modifies Heavenly Beast Physique around the altered Soultrait, notices patterns in memories that Michael misses, and proposes a poison-based Blood Incursion treatment. These contributions depend on Michael's Soultraits, body, and resources for execution. They demonstrate expert instruction and design, not that Jormungandr personally owns Rune Vortex, Sacred Constitution, or every Soullife Art his host performs. (Chapters 903–918, 923–924, 989)

Michael Fang

Michael Fang begins as Jormungandr's chosen hiding place and potential means of survival. The merger violates Michael's consent and creates lasting suspicion, while Higher Ascension prevents the World Serpent from leaving without a cost. Shared battles gradually make the bond reciprocal: Jormungandr protects the vessel, teaches him, complains about his choices, and entrusts him with divine power; Michael provides curse power, freedom, and companionship outside the void. Their final relationship is voluntary. After release, Jormungandr fights beside Michael and stays when their friend needs direction rather than protection. (Chapters 686–708, 761–900, 913–1093)

Fenrir and Hel

Fenrir and Hel are Jormungandr's siblings and fellow children of Loki. Fenrir is already sealed within Michael when Jormungandr arrives, making their initial clash a reunion neither explains. They compete over anatomy and power during Curse Fusion, insult and tease one another, yet cooperate to consume Curses, alter Michael's Soultraits, and fight the Primal. Hel joins them later as a third God Curse. Their bickering never prevents coordinated action, and their post-release defense treats sibling survival as more important than personal glory. Daniel and Evalynn Fang

Daniel Fang is the Living Soul Jormungandr helps free from a lethal tiger Curse. Daniel later becomes a loud co-resident in Michael's mind, trading jokes and arguments with a serpent powerful enough to consume him. Evalynn Fang initially recognizes Jormungandr as an unsealed second Curse and fears what he may do to her son. Her exorcism circle restrains Daniel's Curse long enough for the World Serpent to pin and swallow it, making her an unwilling but essential partner in Jormungandr's first decisive aid to the Fang brothers. Beast Gods, children, and the Primal

Jormungandr's serpent children and the other Beast Gods connect him to the ancient war against the Primal. He asks Michael to free them after receiving his own body, then immediately restrains his children when their anger threatens renewed calamity. The Primal remain the enemies who once forced Jormungandr into concealment and whose Essence can penetrate even Power-reinforced scales. Nevertheless, he accepts Michael's decision to restore rather than exterminate them and helps hold the battlefield until their Origin nature returns. His closing advice favors creating new legends over perpetuating the old divine feud. (Chapters 897–900, 1012–1018, 1078–1093)

Items

• The Divine Summoning Scroll is the instrument that brings Jormungandr through Arx's Summoning Gate. Its output breaks the ordinary summoning pattern: no Link of Loyalty forms, the World Serpent retains overwhelming power, and the Gate is so badly damaged that Michael's territory must spend months repairing and upgrading it. The scroll enables the meeting but does not control the being it summons. (Chapters 686–687)
• The Keychain Casket preserves Daniel's Cursed Living Soul until Michael begins the exorcism. Jormungandr enters its exposed mindscape, pins the tiger Curse, and later swallows the extracted entity after the Casket breaks. He does not own the item, but its failure window creates the first event in which Michael entrusts him with a family member's survival. (Chapters 691–694)
• The Staff of Epos is the Undead Pharaoh's Ancient Artifact and a major source of curse power. Jormungandr's projected serpent heads coil around it, bite it, and drain it to weaken the Pharaoh's suppression of Michael's Soultraits. Much of the absorbed power nourishes Jormungandr's Serpent Seals. The staff is later lost rather than becoming his lasting equipment. (Chapters 761–763)
• Origin Sap is a rare Nest resource used during Michael's Higher Ascension. Jormungandr consumes its higher-order energy, helps expel impurities, triggers a shedding, and cracks multiple Serpent Seals. Its effects also let Michael seize finer control of Seal nourishment and bind the World Serpent more closely, so the same resource that strengthens Jormungandr reduces his freedom inside the vessel. • Aethyr belongs to Michael, but Jormungandr reveals the importance of the Pure Aether hidden within it. Aether can directly damage divine and Primal Essence, while the alloy conceals its signature until enough accumulates. Jormungandr's explanation changes Aethyr from a useful shape-changing weapon into a decisive anti-Primal tool; the World Serpent advises and fights alongside it without becoming the source of its power.
