Aethyr

Aethyr is a silver, liquid-like alloy containing approximately 0.001 percent Aether. The Tritan Alliance gives it to Michael as compensation for his contribution, with Alice handling the transfer and instruction. Its ability to assume weapon forms becomes central to Michael's adaptable combat style before he eventually replaces the alloy with Pure Aether.

History

Tritan Alliance reward

Alice presents Aethyr after senior figures prevent other families from claiming it. Initially described as a Tier 3-upgradable Unique Artifact with twenty-eight weapon forms, it enters Michael's War Rune as a silver mass. Alice teaches him that form speed depends on his bond and that accurate shapes depend on actual weapon understanding, making broad martial knowledge as important as the material itself. Weapon growth and campaigns

Michael uses spoken or mental images to shift Aethyr among swords, spears, axes, scythes, daggers, shields, and other forms in mid-attack. SoulStar Fragments strengthen their connection and expand the available forms beyond the original twenty-eight. In the Flag War and later campaigns, he layers Extraction, Reinforced Sword Qi, and other powers over Aethyr, while damaged forms can lose shape under superior force rather than making him invulnerable. Siegfried recognizes the trace of Aether and warns that true Aether attracted the powerhouses who killed him. Michael nevertheless continues strengthening Aethyr and binds it more deeply to his Soul Sphere. He later accumulates enough SoulStar Fragments to replace it completely; by Chapter 1047, the Aethyr alloy is gone and Pure Aether occupies its place. The Will reveals that arranging Siegfried's summoning was meant to ensure Michael understood that danger. (Chapters 513, 721, 1005, 1047, 1073)

Abilities and properties

• The alloy contains about 0.001 percent Aether and begins as a silver liquid mass rather than a fixed weapon. (Chapter 461)
• It responds to imagination and verbal or mental commands, changing between many weapon and tool shapes faster than manually swapping Artifacts. Form accuracy improves with weapon knowledge and a stronger bond. (Chapters 462–463)
• SoulStar Fragments enlarge and strengthen Aethyr, stabilize its connection to Michael, and unlock more than the advertised twenty-eight forms. (Chapter 463)
• Aethyr can carry Michael's Soultrait-derived coatings and techniques, but individual forms can be pierced or dispersed by stronger attacks. (Chapters 480, 608–682)
• Its final development is replacement by Pure Aether, not merely a renamed unchanged alloy. (Chapters 1005, 1047)
