Hel
Hel is the Goddess of Death and one of the three sibling God Curses whose Divinity supports Michael's rise against the Primal.
Biography
Trials, Divinities, and the Titan War
Hel enters Michael's internal power structure during the Temple of the Forgotten period, adding a third God Curse and a Death-based Divinity to Fenrir and Jormungandr's abilities. She advises him on Gods, Authorities, and Essence while supporting campaigns against Divine enemies. Her presence expands Michael's options beyond physical power and extraction, though the early chapters reveal her mostly through internal dialogue and shared power rather than an independent body. (Chapters 929–995)
God Wars and the Primal Conflict
Hel explains that Pure Aether can damage Essence and later applies repeated Death Afflictions to Primal Xerx, forcing him to spend effort removing them. After Michael releases the Curses, she remains with her brothers long enough to support him emotionally. Hel challenges his sense that his purpose is finished and urges him to govern the Origin Expanse rather than abandon the realm that now depends on him. (Chapters 1004, 1056, 1093)
Appearance and personality
The corpus supplies little stable physical description while Hel resides inside Michael. After release she is presented as a woman whose vibrant smile is beautiful but deadly. She is amused, incisive, and willing to puncture Michael's self-pity, combining macabre authority with practical concern for his future and the people of the Expanse. (Chapter 1093)
Death Authority and afflictions
Hel claims the Authority of Death and contributes its Essence through a Divinity shared with Michael. Death Afflictions become easier to place on beings that have repeatedly escaped near-death situations, although the precise formula remains unknown even to Michael. Against Xerx, the afflictions corrode his position by forcing removal and combine with Pure Aether, poison, and Extraction rather than acting as an effortless instant kill. (Chapters 968, 1004, 1056)
Relationships
Michael Fang serves as Hel's vessel, ally, and eventual liberator. Jormungandr and Fenrir are her brothers and fellow God Curses; their teasing, tactical advice, and shared concern persist after release. Hel's final counsel treats Michael as a friend responsible for choosing a future, not merely a host useful for war. (Chapters 929–1093)
Items
Hel owns no named conventional item in the supplied corpus. Her Death Divinity and Authority are powers, while the Pure Aether weapons used against Xerx belong to Michael's transformed Aethyr rather than to Hel. (Chapters 1047–1056)
