Lu Chong

Lu Chong is Zhang Xuan's sixth direct disciple and the inheritor who restores the lost soul-oracle tradition. He begins as the silent survivor of a clan massacre, suppressing his identity and every ordinary impulse while he searches for enough strength to take revenge. Zhang Xuan's promise to support him gives Lu Chong a teacher he trusts more than his own life, and that reciprocal loyalty becomes the foundation of his development from a physically hardened avenger into a continent-level soul cultivator. His awakened Combat Soul Constitution, Soul Traverse, and later possession of the Seal of Souls make him one of the strongest of the original disciples. In the Firmament, Demon Monarch Qiankun raises him to Conferred God King in the Sky of Drifting Specter. Lu Chong accepts that power without transferring his allegiance: at the Flooding Sea he reunites with the same lineage whose teachings and companionship carried him beyond revenge. Biography

Sole survivor and student of Liu Cheng

Lu Chong enters Tianwu Academy after kneeling outside its gates for seven days. He has spent two years pretending to be mute, living alone in a storage room, and keeping other students at a distance because a careless word might reveal that he survived the destruction of his family. The Lu household had 137 members. A conflict involving his gifted elder sister and Lin Lang provided the public pretext for their deaths, while the deeper motive was the clan's hidden ancestral letter containing a handwritten reply from Kong shi. Lu Chong survives only because he is away hunting when the massacre occurs. (Chapters 326–327, 338–340, 369, and 389–390)

Zhang Xuan meets him while conducting a master-teacher examination under the identity Liu Cheng. He sees that vengeance is both Lu Chong's motivation and the knot suppressing his cultivation, then promises that he can give him the strength to confront a Tongxuan expert within ten days. Lu Chong accepts despite being warned that poison tempering may cause excruciating pain or death. The decision is not confidence in his own talent—he considers that mediocre—but a willingness to endure anything rather than leave his kin unavenged. (Chapters 326–327)

Training combines a simplified Heaven's Path Golden Body with a corrected Poison Body. Lu Chong repeatedly applies lethal poison to his acupoints, building physical strength rather than zhenqi, and eventually pours the remaining dose onto himself at once because the prescribed result seems insufficient for his enemy. Zhang Xuan's reserved strand of pure zhenqi keeps the poison from killing him. Within days, the boy who began at Dingli realm can fight Zongshi experts, but the episode also exposes the dangerous extreme of his self-reliance: he would rather risk death alone than ask his teacher to share the danger. Vengeance, trust, and sacrifice

Lu Chong leaves the academy without permission to keep Zhang Xuan from becoming involved. Disguised as a servant, he ambushes Lin Lang, discovers that the enemy has advanced farther than expected, and withdraws when a formation plate threatens to trap him. Pursuers drive him into the royal book vault, where Zhang Xuan finds him cornered. Zhang Xuan publicly declares Lu Chong his student, defeats the Lin experts, and teaches him to attack an opponent's weakness instead of relying only on physical endurance. For someone who has survived through concealment and distrust, the teacher's refusal to abandon him is more decisive than the strength he was given. (Chapters 369–378)

With Zhang Xuan clearing the Lin Clan's strongest defenders, Lu Chong completes his revenge by crippling rather than killing the survivors. He knows that their accumulated enemies will finish the clan's decline and believes a massacre would grant them relief while damaging his teacher's honor. He then reveals the ancestral letter he had concealed and offers it to Zhang Xuan, who refuses to take his student's inheritance. With the revenge concluded, Lu Chong says that nothing else binds him to Tianwu and chooses to follow Zhang Xuan permanently. (Chapters 388–400)

That promise is tested during an ambush by forces connected to Xuanyuan Crown Prince Ding Mu. While Zhang Xuan is immersed in a mentor's calligraphy, Lu Chong throws himself in front of Commander Liang Qingming's sword and holds the weapon inside his own chest so the attacker cannot reach his teacher. The Poison Body, Golden Body, and Zhang Xuan's zhenqi preserve a final breath, but his consciousness sinks into a coma. Zhang Xuan kills the attackers, challenges the Xuanyuan Master Teacher Pavilion, and searches for the soul knowledge needed to repay a student who was prepared to die for him. (Chapters 411–447)

Awakening and the soul-oracle path

Zhang Xuan stabilizes Lu Chong's fading soul and enters a soul-oracle tomb to find a cure. After learning from Mo Hunsheng, he cultivates Soulrouse Grass with a severed portion of his own soul, refines Soulrouse Incense, and enters Lu Chong's consciousness to call him awake. The procedure risks accidental possession or permanently displacing the dormant soul, but it succeeds. Lu Chong returns after sensing much of what his teacher sacrificed for him during the coma, deepening a loyalty that was already absolute. (Chapters 452, 513, and 562–572)

The awakening reveals that Lu Chong is better suited to souls than conventional zhenqi. Zhang Xuan tells him to stop advancing his zhenqi cultivation and gives him simplified Heaven's Path soul arts. His first soul projection appears ordinary despite the vast figure hidden within his consciousness, and Mo Hunsheng identifies the dormant trait as a partially awakened Combat Soul Constitution. Mo Hunsheng offers to guide him to the Ancient Domain of Soul Oracles, a journey across an uncertain distance. Lu Chong chooses to leave because remaining beside Zhang Xuan would make him a burden while completing the awakening could make him genuinely useful. Zhang Xuan respects the choice, leaves protective zhenqi in his body, and sends both Mo Hunsheng and the Demon Cinque Beast with him. The departure is his first major decision not governed by vengeance: he accepts separation in order to build a future role within his teacher's lineage. (Chapters 602–603)

Return as the soul-oracle inheritor

Lu Chong returns roughly a year later during the Master Teacher Pavilion's attempt to apprehend Zhang Xuan. His Combat Soul Constitution is fully awakened, his once-reserved speech has become confident enough to mock the deputy pavilion master, and his Soul Traverse lets him steal the Pavilion Master Seal from Ren Qingyuan before anyone can react. He kneels to announce his return, immediately places the seal in his teacher's hands, and joins Wei Ruyan in holding off a formation backed by multiple 9-star master teachers. (Chapters 1,536–1,538)

The power does not make him invincible. Ren Qingyuan could have prevented the theft had he known Lu Chong was present, and the combined Master Teacher formation overwhelms the soul-energy stitches with which Lu Chong tries to close its spatial rift. His strength lies in intangibility, surprise, and control rather than winning a direct contest against every higher-ranked opponent. He and Wei Ruyan nevertheless remain because Zhao Ya's treatment cannot be interrupted, showing that his new confidence has not changed the instinct to protect teacher and siblings at personal risk. Lu Chong's rise also changes what the soul-oracle identity means. The Master Teacher Pavilion initially condemns the occupation by reputation, but cannot name a crime he has committed. He uses a suppressed tradition to defend rather than prey upon others, and by the Jiang Clan crisis he is publicly known as a Great Sage soul oracle. His development is therefore more than a personal power increase: the survivor once afraid to speak has become visible proof that a feared heritage can be directed by character and choice. Ancient Sage and the Firmament

After the Temple of Confucius, Zhang Xuan gives Lu Chong the Seal of Souls, which holds concentrated energy from 110,000 Saint-level Otherworldly Demon souls slain during a continental crisis. Lu Chong absorbs the energy and rushes from early Ancient Sage to Blood Reincarnation realm within a month. Zhang Xuan finds that the rapid increase has made his soul power loose, knocks his cultivation back to reinforce it, and warns that an unstable foundation would turn his next lightning tribulation fatal. Lu Chong accepts the correction; greater power is worthless if haste prevents him from following his teacher farther. (Chapters 1,848–1,851)

He then helps spread Zhang Xuan's teachings, reaches Blood Reincarnation realm again on a sounder foundation, and undergoes the dangerous destruction and reconstruction of his meridians needed to absorb the Azure's heavy energy. The process carries a real risk of death, but succeeds, bringing him to Dimension Shatterer realm with the other direct disciples. After guarding the Master Teacher Continent, Lu Chong joins the lineage's independent crossing into the Azure and later insists on ascending to the Firmament beside Zhang Xuan. The Celestial Mountain separates the group. Lu Chong defeats a mistlike soul trial whose golden essence nourishes his own soul and is taken to the Sky of Drifting Specter by Demon Monarch Qiankun. The Monarch supplies resources and a conferment, raising him to the strongest rank below God Monarch. Lu Chong remains Zhang Xuan's sixth disciple: when the eleven conferred students meet at the Flooding Sea, he greets his seniors and juniors as family rather than rivals created by their new patrons. In the Flooding Sea, his soul sensitivity and escape arts make him particularly effective at locating treasures and avoiding pursuit. He reunites with Zhang Xuan, helps assess the unseen collector competing with the lineage, and supports the attempt to stabilize a dimension rift threatening the Firmament. His latest confirmed state is alive as a Conferred God King under Zhang Xuan's direction; the power received from Demon Monarch Qiankun supplements rather than replaces his original allegiance. Appearance and personality

Lu Chong is introduced as a quiet teenage boy whose ordinary background and low cultivation make him easy to overlook. His silence is cultivated camouflage rather than muteness, and his early appearance is defined by clasped hands, lowered presence, and determined eyes. After fully awakening his Combat Soul Constitution, his projected soul can expand to a gigantic form, then compress back to the size and appearance of the reclusive young man Zhang Xuan first taught. Reticence remains his most recognizable trait. He speaks briefly, bottles up concerns, and tends to turn gratitude into action rather than explanation. Trauma initially makes that reserve fearful and isolating; after his return from the Ancient Domain, it becomes placid self-possession. His defining strengths are mental fortitude, loyalty, and willingness to suffer for a chosen purpose. Those qualities let him survive lethal poison, resist pursuit, and sacrifice himself for Zhang Xuan. Abilities and cultivation

Poison Body and Heaven's Path Golden Body

Lu Chong's first fighting foundation comes from a simplified Heaven's Path Golden Body and a corrected Poison Body. Poison applied through his acupoints tempers muscle, resilience, speed, and raw physical strength without raising his zhenqi realm at the same rate. This lets him absorb attacks that would badly injure an ordinary cultivator, contend with Zongshi experts shortly after beginning at Dingli realm, and survive a sword carrying a Zhizun expert's destructive zhenqi. The method is dangerous and finite. Each round causes near-unbearable pain, a failed attempt can kill him, and repeated use yields diminishing gains. Lu Chong survives his reckless final dose only because Zhang Xuan's zhenqi protects his heart. After awakening, he stops focusing on zhenqi and moves to soul cultivation, so the Poison Body becomes a durable early foundation rather than his latest or strongest path. Combat Soul Constitution

The Combat Soul Constitution manifests as an abnormally vast consciousness and a hidden soul resembling a gigantic figure. Once fully awakened through energy in the Ancient Domain of Soul Oracles, it grants Lu Chong an enormous soul, exceptional growth, and the capacity to control soul-oracle arts at a level capable of contending with 9-star master teachers. Its strength is not merely size: he can compress the soul, make it corporeal enough to exert force, and sustain soul attacks that ordinary projections could not survive. Awakening is neither automatic nor complete at first. Lu Chong's first projected soul is as frail as any novice's, and the required ancient soul energy forces him to leave his teacher for a long journey. Soul Traverse and soul combat

Soul Traverse exploits a soul's formless nature to cross short distances through space, bypass physical barriers, and appear from unexpected angles. Lu Chong uses it to evade Ren Qingyuan, seize the Pavilion Master Seal, redirect part of an enemy attack, and escape formations that would restrain a normal body. He can expand over dozens of meters, compress beneath an artifact, project soul force, and stitch a spatial rift with soul-energy threads. (Chapters 1,536–1,538)

The technique is not unlimited teleportation. Distance and cultivation constrain it; Frozen Space can temporarily prevent traversal, soul-targeting weapons remain dangerous, and an alert superior opponent can guard against surprise. Seal of Souls and Ancient Sage progression

The Seal of Souls is the insignia of the Soul Oracle Guild and a reservoir of concentrated soul energy. Zhang Xuan gives it to Lu Chong after acquiring it in the Temple of Confucius. Absorbing the stored energy drives rapid Ancient Sage advancement and strengthens the already awakened Combat Soul Constitution. On a corrected foundation, Lu Chong advances through Blood Reincarnation and then has his meridians destroyed and rebuilt in an Otherworldly-Demon-like arrangement that can carry the Azure's mercury-heavy energy. In the Firmament, Lu Chong's soul defeats a Celestial Mountain trial and absorbs the resulting golden essence. Demon Monarch Qiankun then cultivates him in the Sky of Drifting Specter and grants him a conferment after he reaches God King pinnacle. Lu Chong's special advantage among the conferred disciples is spiritual perception and evasion rather than overwhelming direct offense.
