Peerless Battalion and Peerless Sect

The Peerless Battalion and Peerless Sect are the two institutions through which Zhou Weiqing converts personal power into a durable home for displaced and discarded people. The battalion begins with condemned soldiers whom the ZhongTian army has isolated as ruffians. Zhou gives them food, pay, equipment, cultivation, instructors, and advancement standards, then uses their experience and lack of conventional attachment to build the army that restores Heavenly Bow. The sect begins later, when Blood Red Hell destroys most of the Heavenly Demon Sect and its surviving master Wu Yunyue offers Zhou leadership. Zhou accepts the people and high-level inheritance, but replaces the old institution with a new Saint Land under his own authority. (Chapters 118–183, 259–270, and 761–766)

These are connected rather than identical bodies. The Peerless Battalion and Regiment are military formations built around ranged doctrine, heavy cavalry, training, equipment, and delegated command. The Peerless Sect is a cultivation and political organization able to stand among the Great Saint Lands, incorporating former Heavenly Demon practitioners, Zhou's teachers and family, and the senior experts aligned with him. Both answer the same problem: people rejected or endangered by established powers need material security, a place to advance, and a leader who turns their loyalty into institutions rather than consuming it as temporary manpower. Structure and operating principles

Leadership through opportunity and proof

Zhou Weiqing establishes authority through demonstrated competence, direct rewards, and personal risk. On entering the Ruffian Battalion, he does not ask soldiers accustomed to abandonment to trust patriotic speeches. He defeats resistance, pays them, improves their food and equipment, and makes promotion depend on training and measurable ability. He recruits specialists without demanding that every useful person share the same origin: former academy teammates, condemned veterans, Heavenly Bow Unit archers, tribal warriors, military opponents, and displaced sect cultivators all gain routes into the larger force. This pragmatism is not the absence of loyalty. The institution's overriding political purpose is restoration and defense of the Heavenly Bow Empire. Zhou refuses Fei Li's offer of security when it requires surrendering his nationality, then uses the Peerless force as the military answer to his sealed family and occupied homeland. Followers know that they are helping one country, but they are also offered a future inside it: tribal lands, guardian status, stable support for families, advancement, and recognition not available through exploitative conscription or penal service. The Sect retains the same leadership principle at a higher cultivation tier. Wu Yunyue initially offers Zhou the old Heavenly Demon Sect, but Zhou renames the organization Peerless Sect and holds actual authority as Sect Master. Wu becomes deputy, Long Shiya supplies an independent senior pillar, and Zhou's Saint Energy can heal or advance important members. At the Grand Tournament, Wu publicly states that the Heavenly Demon Sect no longer exists and obeys Zhou's recall even while vengeance pushes him to continue fighting. The new name therefore marks a real transfer of command, not a protective fiction. (Chapters 267–270, 761–766, and 805–817)

Military command and delegation

Zhou supplies strategy, resources, cultivation innovation, and political purpose, but does not command every volley. Hua Feng, leader of the Heavenly Bow Unit, turns the former ruffians into an archer army and takes operational command when Zhou is absent. He trains firing ranges, target selection, mounted movement, synchronized salvos, and protected firing lines. His doctrine favors patience and survival over spectacular risk; when aerial enemies have altitude and javelin advantage, he refuses a direct counterattack and combines archers with heavy infantry shields instead. (Chapters 133–183)

Shangguan Fei'er supplies close-combat training and the discipline required to turn experienced criminals into controlled soldiers. Lin Tianao and Zhou's tournament companions add leadership, defense, crafting, and specialist combat. Wei Feng handles administration and logistics, while Ming Yu later becomes the principal strategist of the reorganized Peerless Regiment and restored Heavenly Bow army. Zhou repeatedly gives command back to the person best suited to the problem, allowing the force to keep operating through his cultivation journeys and diplomatic missions. Equipment and scalable cultivation

The battalion's signature advantage comes from making rare power systematic. Zhou uses Consolidating Equipment expertise and allied crafters to supply bows, armor, and specialist gear rather than reserving artifacts for a small officer class. Soldiers receive Heavenly Jewel cultivation opportunities and training suited to unit roles. Former ruffians already possess combat experience; equipment and discipline let that experience scale into formations capable of defeating much larger conventional forces. (Chapters 118–167)

The ranged system combines ordinary bows, Consolidated bows, Elemental archers, traps, target allocation, and staggered volleys. Soldiers must meet accuracy standards against moving targets before becoming useful in formation. The best can strike at five hundred yards after three months of instruction, while ordinary trainees reliably reach three hundred. Consolidated weapons raise penetration and range but still depend on ammunition, Heavenly Energy, sight lines, and protection from close attack. The battalion is exceptional because doctrine joins these limitations into a coordinated system. (Chapters 133–167)

Heavy cavalry supplies the close-combat counterpart. Crow and Ma Qun bring the Gold Crow and Berserker tribes, whose bodies and strength suit armor conventional soldiers cannot carry. Zhou equips and shelters more than ten thousand migrants, including families and noncombatants, and promises them fertile territory and guardian status after restoration. Their elite warriors receive extremely thick custom armor, armored mounts, and weapons designed around tribal physiques. The resulting force can serve mounted as shock cavalry or dismounted as heavy infantry. (Chapters 157–210 and 262–266)

Sect hierarchy and Saint Land function

The Peerless Sect gives Zhou's coalition high-level cultivators and political standing beyond an army. Wu Yunyue brings surviving Heavenly Demon Heavenly Kings, a Maximum-Level Heavenly Emperor, institutional knowledge, and a cultivation lineage endangered by Blood Red Hell. Long Shiya brings his status as Zhou's master and later breaks into the Heavenly God Tier with support from Zhou's Saint Energy. Zhou's partners, including Shangguan Xue'er, represent Peerless at the Saint Lands tournament and link the new organization to Heaven's Expanse Palace and Heavenly Snow Mountain without making it a branch of either. The Sect protects forging and advancement as well as conducting battle. Former Heavenly Demon experts guard Zhou during Duan Tianlang's void consolidation; senior figures protect breakthrough sites; Zhou heals injuries and helps allied cultivators advance; and the perfected Ringless Ground Purging Set becomes the equipment of a leader who can stand against Heavenly God opponents. The institution remains centered on Zhou's capabilities, but its value lies in assembling enough independent experts to protect him while he creates resources that then strengthen the whole group. History

From Fei Li team to restoration cadre

Before the Peerless name exists, Zhou learns the model that will sustain it. At Fei Li Military Academy he organizes commoner students against noble coercion, supplies equipment, recruits Yun Li through a wager tempered by honorable alternatives, and trusts Lin Tianao's word rather than binding him. During the Heavenly Jewel Tournament, the team combines Zhou's control and archery, Crow's physical force, Lin's defense, and the others' specialist skills to win despite injuries and stronger opponents. (Chapters 40–116)

The championship does not lead Zhou into Fei Li service. News that Heavenly Bow has fallen and its royal court is sealed makes nationality the decisive question. Fei Li will protect him only if he abandons his old allegiance. Zhou refuses and leaves with the companions willing to join a restoration whose prospects are far worse than the careers they surrender. These relationships become the first senior cadre of the future Peerless force. (Chapters 109–117)

Reforming the Ruffian Battalion

Zhou enters ZhongTian's northern army under his old alias and wins rank through the Duelling Corner. He is assigned to the isolated Ruffian Battalion, a formation full of strong and experienced soldiers but starved of equipment, discipline, trust, and a future. He defeats attempts to reject his authority and renames the unit Peerless Battalion. Pay, food, training, and promotion establish the initial compact: soldiers who work and fight as a unit will receive treatment denied to them under the penal arrangement. (Chapters 118–136)

Hua Feng and the Heavenly Bow Unit join the effort after the fall of their homeland. They abandon restrictions that once kept their archery secret because preserving those secrets is meaningless if the empire disappears. Shangguan Fei'er drills close combat, Zhou and allied Consolidating Equipment Masters produce bows, and Long Shiya's discipleship gives Zhou's six attributes a coherent higher method. The force grows through recruitment and absorption rather than simple conscription. Capable rivals and defeated soldiers are offered service when their survival can strengthen the formation. Tribes, frontier battles, and an army with dependents

Crow and Ma Qun persuade the Gold Crow and Berserker tribes to migrate. The decision risks not only warriors but families and possessions; WanShou cavalry surrounds the migrants before they reach Peerless protection, and Zhou's arrival prevents a defensive ring of carts from becoming their grave. His response confirms the bargain he has offered: immediate medicine, equipment, provisions, protection for dependents, and a promised national home. (Chapters 157–165)

The battalion proves its doctrine against WanShou forces. A few hundred mounted archers rescue allied tribes; later, the full five-thousand-man unit stops enemies that pressure conventional ZhongTian formations. Hua Feng preserves the force through controlled firing and combined arms, while tribal soldiers dominate close fighting. Zhou delegates rather than using every battle to display his own power. Success produces rewards and visibility, but the commanders resist attempts to absorb the formation into the ZhongTian army because its purpose remains Heavenly Bow's restoration. (Chapters 145–183)

Peerless Regiment and the return to Heavenly Bow

The military institution expands into the Peerless Regiment as it marches toward Heavenly Bow. Hua Feng and Wei Feng command the main force; Ming Yu provides wider strategic organization; Crow and Ma Qun lead tribal heavy cavalry; and the surviving Heavenly Bow Unit becomes an instructional and command core. The regiment combines former ruffians, player-equivalent Jewel Masters, assassins, crafters, tribes, and conventional recruits without erasing their specialties. (Chapters 183–210)

Its campaigns demonstrate why equipment alone is insufficient. Heavy cavalry can annihilate Kalise formations, but prolonged defense exhausts even Gold Crow warriors until they can barely lift weapons. Archers dominate open lines, but need protection and appropriate range. Commanders must refuse pursuit into prepared traps and rotate responsibilities across city walls. The Peerless system works because logistics, discipline, and specialists prevent exceptional bodies or weapons from being consumed in one engagement. (Chapters 183–210)

After Zhou's XuanTian expedition, Ming Yu has expanded and updated the army. More than four thousand Gold Crow, Berserker, and Snow Deer warriors form a Peerless Heavy Cavalry arm; during the final advance, three thousand tribal heavy cavalry join one thousand Peerless cavalry and five hundred Snow Deer cavalry in the vanguard. The wider army breaks the Kalise and Bai Da encirclement while Zhou enters the capital and uses Saint Energy to undo the Fate Denying Seal. The force created outside the state becomes the military foundation of the state it restores. (Chapters 259–267)

Founding the Peerless Sect

Blood Red Hell's surprise attack destroys the Heavenly Demon Sect headquarters and kills or scatters more than two thirds of its membership. Wu Yunyue reaches Heavenly Bow injured and unable to protect the survivors against another Great Saint Land. He proposes that Zhou take the sect, marry Wu Yuehan, and eventually provide a descendant through whom the lineage can continue. The offer is both dynastic and practical: Zhou has the Demonic Attribute, a secure national base, extraordinary growth, and a need for high-level defenders. (Chapters 267–268)

Zhou refuses to become a nominal heir controlled by the old structure. The survivors enter a new Peerless Sect, Wu accepts deputy leadership, and the old Heavenly Demon identity formally ends. Shangguan Xue'er initially warns that sheltering a notorious sect could isolate Heavenly Bow; the renaming and transfer of authority answer that political problem by making the survivors members of Zhou's institution rather than an independent power using his territory. The transition is tested immediately when Blood Red Hell pursues the survivors. Zhou organizes controlled wagers and staged duels to reduce the enemy's numerical advantage before open battle. His Astral Saint Energy counters Destruction Energy and stops a Heavenly Emperor's attempted self-detonation. Wu, who had considered sacrificing himself, accepts that Zhou's power and strategy offer the future his old sect cannot secure alone. (Chapters 268–270 and 761–762)

Great Saint Land war

At the Grand Tournament of Saint Lands, Zhou insists that demonstrated strength establishes Peerless standing. Wu publicly accepts deputy status and opens the tournament with three victories against Love Valley and Blood Red Hell opponents. His rage pushes him to continue after spending heavily, but Zhou recalls him and he obeys. Long Shiya, the Shangguan sisters, and other Peerless figures take roles inside a wider alliance with Heaven's Expanse Palace and Heavenly Snow Mountain. (Chapters 803–817)

When tournament rules collapse, Blood Red Hell and Love Valley reveal their Destruction alliance. Peerless becomes central because Zhou's Creation-aligned Saint Energy is the natural counter Fen Tian identifies as intolerable. The Astral Divine Territory protects allies and restores usable energy inside the enemy's suppression, while Long Shiya and Wu Yunyue hold senior fronts and the families and Saint Lands connected through Zhou fight as allies rather than rival claimants. (Chapters 818–831)

Zhou's battle with Fen Tian escalates beyond ordinary formations. Fen sacrifices his own coalition for Netherworld power, demonstrating the opposite model of leadership: followers exist as resources to be absorbed. Zhou survives through the armor, cultivation, teachers, family, Elf alliance, and Saint Energy developed across his institutions. His Genesis Time Law strips Fen's mature vessel of its accumulated power, after which the Nether Lord kills its failed emissary. The Peerless victory preserves the people whose combined contributions made Zhou's strength possible instead of consuming them to magnify one ruler. (Chapters 826–835)

Military components

Capabilities and limits

The Peerless military's central capability is scalable quality. Its soldiers are not all born prodigies: many are condemned veterans whose experience becomes useful only after material neglect ends. Consolidated bows, training standards, specialist elements, heavy armor, suitable mounts, and advancement incentives allow ordinary unit discipline to multiply rare techniques. The force can therefore defeat larger armies without requiring Zhou to personally kill every opponent. (Chapters 118–183)

The same system depends on supply and command. Bows need ammunition and sight lines; heavy armor requires bodies and mounts capable of carrying it; tribal migrations include civilians who must be protected; close combat can exhaust even extraordinary physiques; and cultivation instruction requires time. Zhou's money and crafting matter because they create the conditions under which Hua Feng, Ming Yu, and subordinate officers can apply doctrine. When those conditions fail, bravery alone does not prevent attrition. (Chapters 133–210)

The Sect's high-level capability is alliance and progression. Saint Energy can heal, purify, and help cultivate; senior figures can guard forging or breakthroughs; and Great Saint Land status creates a political place independent of older institutions. Its concentration around Zhou remains a structural vulnerability. The Sect relies heavily on his Saint Energy, reputation, family alliances, and personal ability to stand against Destruction. The local corpus shows deputies and senior experts who can preserve operations, but not a fully separate succession after his leadership. (Chapters 761–835)

Relationships with major powers

ZhongTian Empire and Heaven's Expanse Palace

The Peerless Battalion grows inside ZhongTian's northern army but resists absorption. Its service against WanShou forces earns rewards and protection, while Zhou's relationship with the Shangguan family links it to Heaven's Expanse Palace. The restored Heavenly Bow Empire later remains an ally rather than a province, and the Peerless Sect fights beside Heaven's Expanse during the Saint Lands war without surrendering its independent command. Heavenly Snow Mountain and the WanShou Empire

The battalion first gains much of its reputation fighting WanShou armies, yet Zhou's relationship with Tian'er and Long Shiya's challenge to Xue Ao'tian produce a later alliance with Heavenly Snow Mountain. This prevents military history from becoming permanent ethnic enmity. The Saint Lands ultimately cooperate against Destruction because Zhou's household and teachers connect institutions that previously met as battlefield enemies. (Chapters 145–183 and 803–835)

Blood Red Hell and Love Valley

Blood Red Hell destroys the Heavenly Demon Sect and thereby precipitates the founding of Peerless Sect. Its alliance with Love Valley and use of Netherworld Destruction make it the new Sect's defining opponent. Wu seeks revenge, but Zhou repeatedly disciplines that desire within a wider strategy. The final contrast is institutional: Peerless preserves refugees and raises subordinates, while Fen Tian animates dead ancestors, makes followers dependent on his essence, and finally absorbs allies to strengthen himself. Legacy

The Peerless Battalion changes the meaning of a penal unit. Soldiers abandoned as ruffians become elite archers, cavalry, officers, and the military core of a restored state. The Gold Crow and Berserker tribes move from decline and exploitative recruitment into recognized guardian peoples with land, equipment, and roles suited to their bodies. Heavenly Bow's small assassination unit becomes an army-wide school of archery and command. (Chapters 118–210 and 259–267)

The Peerless Sect extends that transformation into the cultivation world. Survivors of a shattered and distrusted Saint Land do not disappear or merely hide under a stronger patron; they enter a new institution whose name, leadership, and alliances reflect a different future. Its victory in the Saint Lands war gives the restored Heavenly Bow Empire both military and high-cultivation security. Across both bodies, “Peerless” comes to mean not one unmatched individual, but a structure capable of turning discarded people, specialized communities, teachers, and family alliances into shared power.
