Shangguan Xue’er

Shangguan Xue'er is the eldest of the Shangguan triplets, the former designated successor of Heaven's Expanse Palace, and a swordswoman who builds her entire cultivation around the Boundless Infinitum legacy. Her extreme choice to Store no Elemental Skills produces exceptional sword intent and offensive concentration, while her biography centers on the conflict between inherited institutional duty and a family life she eventually chooses for herself.

Biography

First Young Miss and the tournament reckoning

Xue'er is raised in Heaven's Expanse Palace as its First Young Miss and future leader, alongside her second triplet sister Shangguan Fei'er. Responsibility shapes her before she can choose it: she trains harder than those around her, adopts the cold discipline of the Ice Heart Arts, and becomes the family member capable of restraining Fei'er's mischief. At the Consolidating Equipment Pavilion she encounters Shangguan Bing'er, notices their identical appearance and Tang surname connection, and identifies the younger sister their mother took away in infancy. She immediately brings their father Shangguan Tianyue, turning a chance encounter into the reunion of a divided family. (Chapters 76 and 94–106)

The same encounter begins her conflict with Zhou Weiqing. He mistakes Xue'er for Bing'er and kisses her without consent; although she recognizes the mistaken identity, the loss of her first kiss remains a personal violation beneath the political question of whether he is worthy of her sister. Xue'er tells him that he must be able to defeat her before claiming Bing'er, making herself both protective elder sister and measure of the strength demanded by Heaven's Expanse. The condition is not purely romantic gatekeeping: Zhou is a low-tier Jewel Master facing enemies tied to a Great Saint Land family, and his inability to survive such pressure would also endanger Bing'er. (Chapters 76, 82, 94–107)

Xue'er later brings Zhou news that Heavenly Bow is under invasion and helps establish contact with people affected by the disaster. Her manner remains cold, but the information forces him to confront the fall of his country rather than celebrate the tournament. She observes his refusal to renounce Heavenly Bow in exchange for Fei Li protection and keeps track of Fei'er's decision to follow him north. By this stage she no longer treats him as merely the shameless outsider who kissed her: she sees the loyalty and organizing ability that attract her sisters, while retaining suspicion about the damage his impulsive private conduct can cause. Guarding a battalion in her sister's identity

Fei'er eventually asks Xue'er to take her place in the Peerless Battalion while she returns to speak with Bing'er. The request appeals to several parts of Xue'er's identity at once: protecting her sisters, preventing Zhou from adding more partners, and ensuring that the unruly soldiers do not lose the discipline Fei'er built. Because the triplets are physically identical, Xue'er can assume the chief instructor's position as long as she conceals her distinctive Consolidated Equipment. Her higher cultivation lets her maintain the established training without exposing the substitution, and she gradually becomes comfortable among people far outside the palace hierarchy. The disguise ends through a serious violation. When Zhou returns with Tian'er, he believes Xue'er is Fei'er, restrains her cultivation, removes much of her clothing, and makes nonconsensual intimate contact before recognizing the mistake. Xue'er is devastated and attacks him with genuine killing intent. Their resulting duel displays her Boundless Infinitum sword path at full force, but Zhou survives through transformation, multiple attributes, deception, and rapid recovery. He then exploits her emotional state in a wager under which victory would make her marry him, and wins by allowing her sword through his body while using Devour and a false appearance of mortal injury. The episode is coercive and manipulative; her later affection does not retroactively make the contact or wager consensual. (Chapters 184–186)

After the duel, Xue'er's actions become more complicated than simple enforcement of an oath. She sees Zhou accept an apparently fatal wound rather than strike her down, listens to his responsibility toward Tian'er, and chooses to accompany him rather than immediately return to the palace. Her honor makes the wager consequential, but shared travel gives her later opportunities to evaluate him outside that moment. The Peerless substitution also leaves a military consequence independent of their private relationship: the battalion continues using the close-combat system established by Fei'er and maintained under Xue'er's watch. (Chapters 186–193)

Sword, restoration, and a chosen family

Traveling with Zhou and Tian'er toward Heavenly Bow places Xue'er between inherited Saint Land hostility and the people she now knows personally. She initially quarrels with Tian'er, whose Heavenly Snow Mountain background and intimacy with Zhou make her both institutional rival and romantic threat. Zhou eventually demands that they decide whether to accept one another rather than turn every journey into a contest. Xue'er does not lose her reserve, but she stops treating Tian'er as an enemy whose removal would solve the family problem. Their later cooperation in cultivation and battle grows from this negotiated truce. (Chapters 193–204)

Xue'er supports the restoration campaign with information, combat strength, and political knowledge. She does not surrender Heaven's Expanse interests: when the next Heavenly Jewel Tournament and Lustre Spatial Realm crisis threaten the dragon family on which the palace depends, she conceals the full danger until the group enters. Once inside, she admits what she withheld and expects Zhou to blame her. His refusal—because she and her sisters also entered the danger—changes their bond more than the earlier wager did. He understands the institutional duty she carries, while she experiences support that does not require pretending the duty is absent. (Chapters 205–233)

Her treatment of Saint Energy provides another measure of independent loyalty. Xue'er learns that Zhou and Tian'er have created a force of extraordinary strategic importance, yet does not report the secret even to Tianyue. Zhou recognizes that silence as a choice made by the designated palace heir against the easy interests of her own institution. When Tianyue objects to Zhou marrying all three daughters, the Saint Energy's potential becomes part of the discussion, but Xue'er's earlier secrecy prevents the revelation from being a palace demand she engineered. By the time Bing'er reunites with the group, Xue'er is moving from a marriage oath imposed through a manipulated wager toward a partnership demonstrated through risk and protected confidence. XuanTian absence and the homeland's return

Xue'er does not accompany Zhou and Bing'er to the XuanTian Continent. The mission requires a single partner and an identity that can enter the local selection without exposing the party's wider political ties. Her absence is explicit rather than a hidden operational role: she remains within the Boundless Mainland's palace, tournament, and family structures while Bing'er serves as Zhou's cover spouse. The local chapters do not assign Xue'er influence over the relationships or decisions Zhou forms inside XuanTian Palace. (Chapters 236–258)

When the expedition returns, Xue'er is part of the family negotiation surrounding Zhou's request to marry all three sisters. She then moves toward Heavenly Bow as Zhou completes the restoration he began after she delivered news of the invasion. His Peerless forces break the surrounding armies and his Saint Energy undoes the Fate Denying Seal. For Xue'er, the result validates both sides of the choice she has been approaching: supporting Zhou does not require abandoning the security of Heaven's Expanse, because the restored empire and palace become strategic allies rather than competing claimants to her loyalty. (Chapters 259–266)

The arrival of Heavenly Demon survivors creates a sharper institutional test. Xue'er warns that openly sheltering the notorious sect could isolate Heavenly Bow and alarm its allies. Zhou explains that the old Heavenly Demon Sect is dissolving into a new Peerless Sect under his authority rather than absorbing him. Xue'er evaluates that structure on political consequences instead of accepting it through affection alone, then joins the family around the new Saint Land. Her contribution is precisely the caution Zhou often lacks: she can support an unconventional alliance while insisting that its name, authority, and public meaning be controlled. Relinquishing succession on the road to the Elf Tribe

By Zhou's return as a Heavenly Emperor, Xue'er and Fei'er have reached nine Jewels. Their simultaneous attempts to enter Heavenly King interfere with each other and exhaust the local atmospheric energy. Xueer's four-attribute foundation reacts differently from Fei'er's physical specialization, leaving her aura disordered until Zhou gathers distant energy, regulates her attributes, and supplies Galaxia Saint Energy to the forming core. She finishes the breakthrough over three days. The help is decisive, but she initiates the attempt herself and reaches the threshold through the sword foundation built over years. (Chapters 762–772)

On the journey to the Elf Tribe, Xue'er supplies the knowledge Heaven's Expanse possesses about its sealed parallel realm. She agrees to guide Zhou only after he promises not to kill elves for the blood Duan Tianlang requires. More personally, she says she cannot complete the Boundless Infinitum Set because it is reserved for the palace master. The statement reveals that she has chosen to remain with Zhou rather than inherit Heaven's Expanse. She even offers to remove her existing set pieces and begin another Legendary Set, despite the damage that would do to the cultivation foundation she has shaped since childhood. Zhou rejects that sacrifice and promises another solution. (Chapters 768–777)

During the visit and the Elven Princess crisis, Xue'er remains the group's institutional interpreter rather than its principal pursuer. She helps frame the sealed realm as a place governed by its own laws, supports the promise against lethal intrusion, and accepts the Elven Queen's later alliance after the princess is recovered. When assassins attack Zhou during the creation of his eleventh set piece, Xue'er is the first wife to intercept the concentrated Destruction beam. Her sword and Saint-enhanced Heavenly King energy slow it only briefly before she is thrown down, but that instant lets Fei'er, Bing'er, and Tian'er respond in sequence. (Chapters 772–799)

Peerless representative and the Netherworld vigil

Xue'er attends the Grand Tournament of Saint Lands with the Peerless Sect rather than representing the palace she was once meant to lead. Zhou selects her for a round after Long Shiya's draw, placing a Heavenly King with parts of the Boundless Infinitum Set opposite a Blood Red Hell Heavenly Emperor. Her father and uncle are alarmed by the mismatch. Before the duel begins, Zhou uses the Saint Land lord's right of substitution and takes her place, demonstrating both her recognized standing within Peerless and the continuing limit imposed by tier difference and Destruction Energy. (Chapters 801–815)

Once the tournament becomes open war, Xue'er fights within the allied formation linking Peerless, Heaven's Expanse, and Heavenly Snow Mountain. Her sword path is exceptionally lethal against embodied opponents, but the decisive conflict escalates to Heavenly God domains and the Nether Lord's Destruction power. The war resolves her political conflict in practice: she does not need to become palace master to protect Heaven's Expanse, because her chosen sect and birth institution fight on the same side and survive partly through the alliance Zhou assembled. (Chapters 816–835)

Xue'er volunteers to follow Zhou into the Netherworld and is rendered unconscious with the other wives so she cannot do so. Before leaving, Zhou tells her that her place in his heart is not an accident or convenience and remembers what she has done secretly for him. When she wakes, she walks toward the abyss in shock until Shangguan Tianyang explains that entering with less-pure Saint Energy would distract Zhou. She waits beside the others and, when Dongfang Hanyue offers to leave the family if he survives, Xue'er rejects the sacrifice and calls them all family. Zhou and Tian'er return alive, leaving Xueer's final choice defined not by inherited succession or a coerced wager but by the inclusive family she consciously protects. (Chapters 836–848)

Appearance and personality

Xue'er has the same face, figure, and exceptional beauty as her triplet sisters. She is distinguished by a cold, self-contained gaze and an aura that discourages casual approach. Light-blue clothing and the snow-white Boundless Infinitum Sword reinforce that impression, while the dark-gold, cloud-dragon-patterned pieces of her armor give her a formal, almost ceremonial battlefield presence. Her coldness is partly cultivated through the Ice Heart Arts rather than proof that she lacks emotion; under severe pressure she cries, blushes, becomes angry, and shows tenderness as intensely as her sisters. (Chapters 76, 109, and 184–186)

Discipline and duty dominate her early personality. She trains as heir, protects her sisters, preserves palace secrets, and interprets personal decisions through promises and responsibility. This makes her reliable but vulnerable to manipulation through honor: Zhou turns an emotionally charged duel into a marriage wager because she treats her word with a seriousness he can exploit. Her relative lack of ordinary social experience also makes her less adept at verbal games than Fei'er or Zhou. Later growth does not remove the discipline; it redirects it toward choices she has examined for herself. (Chapters 153–186 and 207–234)

Xue'er can appear inflexible, yet several of her most important actions are accommodations. She accepts Tian'er, protects Zhou's Saint Energy secret from her father, questions rather than rejects the reorganization of the Heavenly Demon survivors, and relinquishes the palace succession rather than demand that Zhou enter her institution. Her central tension is therefore not coldness against love, but duty assigned by others against duty she chooses. At the end she uses the authority of the eldest sister to keep Hanyue inside the family, showing that inclusion has become an active principle rather than something imposed on her. Abilities and cultivation

Xueer's cultivation is an extreme sword path combining four Elemental Attributes, the Boundless Infinitum legacy, Ice Heart discipline, and later Saint-enhanced Heavenly King energy. She deliberately gives up the versatility of Stored Skills so that every Jewel and every stage of training serves the sword.

Four-attribute Jewels without Stored Skills

Xueer's Elemental Jewels are Alexandrite Cat's Eyes carrying Water, Fire, Earth, and Wind. Four attributes make her exceptionally talented even within Heaven's Expanse, but she does not Store a separate Heavenly Beast Skill in any of them. Instead, she embeds the Jewels into the chestplate of her Boundless Infinitum armor, feeding their Heavenly Energy and attribute potential into the Boundless Infinitum Sword. The decision begins after her Jewel awakening and first Consolidated sword, making it a self-created cultivation route rather than a standard palace curriculum. (Chapter 184)

The advantage is concentration. Xue'er has no conflict between unrelated Skill patterns and can drive all energy, attention, and bodily mechanics into one weapon. The cost is equally explicit: against a powerful Heavenly Skill Image or broad elemental assault, she has no Stored Skill of her own to cancel it. Equipment-sealing effects such as the Dragon Silencing Seal are especially dangerous because much of her combat expression passes through the set. She compensates through sword intent, judgment, and overwhelming a technique before it fully develops, but a sufficiently mobile or versatile opponent can force her to spend heavily just reaching the decisive strike. Sword intent and the path of extreme basics

Xue'er trains basic sword actions until they carry power, range, pressure, inertia, and momentum beyond their outward simplicity. A step and forward thrust can lock an opponent's senses; thin sword threads divide or pressure an area; Sword and Body as One concentrates her into a single attack in which the wielder seems to disappear inside the blade. She can also redirect elemental force caught in her intent, turning an opponent's gathered energy back through the thrust. Her style is not agility-focused: before Heavenly King she can maneuver in the air through the set, but cannot match Fei'er's winged flight. (Chapters 184–185)

Sword intent is both attack and mental pressure. When fully gathered, it makes Zhou perceive Xue'er as an unsheathed weapon and forces even his transformed body backward. It obscures the exact line of attack, locks onto fluctuations in his focus, and can damage or stun through the residual intent even when a physical blow is partly blocked. Its strength depends on concentration and commitment; emotional instability can make the attack lethal but also narrow her judgment, while continuous equipment use and maximum intent drain Heavenly Energy faster than Zhou's self-replenishing techniques. (Chapters 184–186)

Boundless Infinitum Set and Ice Heart Arts

The Boundless Infinitum Set is Heaven's Expanse Palace's eleven-piece God Set and is reserved for its master or designated successor. At seven Jewels Xue'er has the sword plus shoulder-and-arm armor, chestplate, waist and skirt protection, and one leg's greave configuration. The pieces bear moving cloud-dragon patterns, amplify one another, and channel the Elemental Jewels through the chest gemstone. Even incomplete, the set gives enormous offensive pressure and limited aerial maneuverability. The corpus later confirms continued use but does not provide a reliable final piece-by-piece inventory, particularly after Xue'er relinquishes succession. (Chapters 184–185, 772, and 814)

Her complete alignment with the set lets it briefly shine snow-white as though all eleven pieces were present, a response even previous palace masters had not achieved before actual completion. In that state she can access a portion of the completed set's power and magnify Sword and Body as One into a giant white blade that Zhou judges impossible to block directly. The state is temporary and energy-intensive; stacked control, explosive Skills, abnormal durability, and Devour eventually let him survive and reverse their duel. It is therefore an extreme finisher, not proof that the incomplete set permanently functions as eleven physical pieces. (Chapters 184–186)

The Ice Heart Arts are the ultimate secret method of the Boundless Infinitum Technique. At maximum activation Xueer's eyes and chest gemstone shine white, her emotional noise is suppressed, and her sword/set synchronization reaches its strongest state. The art contributes to her habitual cold appearance and the clarity needed for an extreme single path. Its limitation is not absence of feeling: severe violation and family conflict still disrupt her, and the very contrast between trained composure and powerful suppressed emotion shapes several of her least controlled decisions. Saint-enhanced Heavenly King state

Xue'er reaches the peak of nine Jewels before attempting Heavenly King. Because Fei'er breaks through beside her, their energy fields interfere and Xueer's four attributes fall out of balance. Zhou's Galaxia gathers atmospheric power from a wider area, his six attributes regulate the reactions, and a direct infusion of Saint Energy stabilizes her forming Nucleus Core. She completes the process after three days and gains natural flight and self-sustaining energy absorption. (Chapters 766–772)

The resulting core is Saint-enhanced but is not identified as a pure Saint Nucleus Core with Creation law. Its energy strengthens her sword, recovery, and resistance beyond an ordinary Heavenly King, yet pure Destruction still penetrates and throws her from the air during the assassination attempt on Zhou. Her latest established cultivation remains Heavenly King. She retains the Boundless Infinitum foundation, but the narrative leaves unresolved exactly how many further set pieces she may legally or practically receive after giving up the palace-master position. • Zhou Weiqing: Xueer's relationship with Zhou begins through mistaken-identity violations and a manipulated wager, then changes through later choices: accompanying him, protecting his Saint Energy secret, sharing the Lustre danger, and relinquishing palace succession. Those later commitments do not erase the nonconsensual beginning, but they establish an independent partnership beyond it.
• Shangguan Bing'er: Bing'er is Xueer's youngest triplet sister, found only after growing up elsewhere. Xueer immediately helps reunite her with their father and treats protecting her consent and happiness as an elder sister's responsibility.
• Shangguan Fei'er: Fei'er is Xueer's second triplet sister and temperamental opposite. Xueer can restrain her mischief, while Feier draws Xueer out of palace reserve and entrusts her with the Peerless instructor role.
• Shangguan Tianyue: Tianyue is Xueer's father and one of the men who raise her for palace leadership. She respects him but withholds Zhou's Saint Energy secret, showing that adulthood brings loyalties he does not control.
• Shangguan Tianyang: Tianyang is Xueer's uncle, palace master, and institutional mentor. Her decision to remain with Zhou makes completing the palace-exclusive set politically difficult, though Tianyang ultimately accepts the alliance her marriage creates.
• Tian'er: Tian'er begins as both Saint Land rival and romantic competitor. Shared travel, Zhou's demand for peace, and later battles turn the hostility into cooperation within the same family.
• Long Shiya: Long Shiya is Zhou's master and a senior power of the Peerless Sect Xueer joins. His presence gives the new Saint Land protection independent of Heaven's Expanse and helps make her institutional transition possible.
• Dongfang Hanyue: Hanyue initially stands outside the established household. During the Netherworld vigil, Xueer rejects her offer to leave and explicitly includes her in the family if Zhou returns.
