Wei Feng

Wei Feng is the practical leader who keeps the abandoned Ruffian Battalion alive before Zhou Weiqing arrives and the trusted deputy who makes Zhou's promises workable afterward. His progression is institutional rather than a cultivation breakthrough: he moves from guarding a doomed enclave's secrets to managing logistics and civil affairs for the restored Heavenly Bow Empire.

Biography

Testing a new commander and protecting the ruffians

Wei Feng has spent ten years in the isolated Ruffian Battalion when Zhou arrives. Though his vice-command is unofficial, the company leaders defer to his judgment because he combines the battalion's highest cultivation with an unusually calm mind. He infers Zhou's recent defeat of Shen Bu from a few details, then tests the newcomer himself rather than accepting another appointed commander on appearances. Zhou's Dragon Silencing Seal removes all nine of Wei Feng's Consolidated Equipment and ends the contest decisively, but Wei Feng does not confuse defeat with trust: he grants Zhou three months to prove that his promises can change the battalion's actual conditions. In private, Wei Feng identifies hunger, inadequate equipment, and the Jewel Masters' lack of Consolidated Equipment and Stored Skills as the force's central problems. His reluctance to reveal the tunnel network is rooted in protecting men who have survived starvation, cold, and deliberate neglect, not in resistance for its own sake. Once Zhou demonstrates that he understands those pressures and values their lives, Wei Feng supplies maps, scouts, finances, personnel selection, and the hidden defenses that let ambitious plans function. The change becomes personal as well as material: when Zhou distributes mass-produced scrolls, Wei Feng thanks him on behalf of the soldiers and commits himself even without further profit because the battalion finally has hope. As the force expands, Wei Feng becomes its continuity officer. Zhou leaves the battalion in his hands during expeditions, trusts him with large sums without demanding itemized supervision, and relies on him to integrate recruits, issue rewards, enforce ideological training, and restrain soldiers during confrontations. Wei Feng's battlefield role is often to make command possible rather than seize it: he provides intelligence about enemy leaders, holds angry ruffians back from an uncontrolled clash with the Sixteenth Regiment, and steps in as mediator when both sides need a defensible way to de-escalate. The first victory over the Swift Wolf Regiment confirms that the old survival methods have become a real military institution. He continues training and administration while Hua Feng commands the major border battles, and when Zhou disappears during the war he remains among the officers maintaining the battalion. Logistics and government in the restoration

Wei Feng and Hua Feng command the main Peerless force on its early march from ZhongTian through Fei Li toward Crescent City. After Ming Yu reorganizes the Peerless Regiment, Wei Feng retains vice-command but receives a defined logistics portfolio, complementing Hua Feng's archery instruction and Ming Yu's overall military planning. The appointment formalizes work he has already performed for years: supplies, pay, equipment distribution, records, movement, and the daily mechanisms that keep an elite but resource-intensive army operational. With Zhou absent, Wei Feng's responsibilities expand beyond the army. Ming Yu controls the Heavenly Bow military while Wei Feng directs internal affairs, helps recruit and organize city guards, receives foreign supplies, and supports the balance between state administration and war readiness. Appearance and personality

Wei Feng is around forty at his introduction, about 1.7 meters tall, and comparatively inconspicuous beside the Ruffian Battalion's enormous company leaders. He has ordinary features, a medium build, and a peaceful gaze; instead of a uniform, he wears a cloth robe that gives him a scholarly air. That mild surface conceals a killing aura more oppressive than Shen Bu's and the hardened physique of a veteran Physical Jewel Master. (Chapter 124)

Calm, skeptical, and protective, Wei Feng evaluates leaders by whether they keep soldiers alive and solve concrete problems. He is willing to challenge Zhou and withhold secrets, but equally willing to acknowledge evidence, delegate, and change his judgment. His dry humor emerges once trust is established, while his administrative conscientiousness makes him a natural counterweight to the more flamboyant personalities around him. Abilities and cultivation

Wei Feng is a nine-Jeweled Upper Zong Stage Physical Jewel Master whose Jewels emphasize Strength with a smaller Agility component. This places him at the peak available to a Physical Jewel Master and initially gives him greater raw Heavenly Energy than either Zhou or Shangguan Fei'er. Physical combat and equipment

His nine Consolidated Equipment pieces consist of shoulder pauldrons, chest armor, an armored girdle, leggings, greaves, and silver knuckle-duster gloves. Wei Feng's greatest personal advantage is experience accumulated through repeated brushes with death. Surprise does not interrupt his offense, he refuses to underestimate weaker-looking opponents, and he goes all out once a fight begins. His limitations are equally clear: without Elemental Jewels, he depends heavily on Consolidated Equipment, and the Dragon Silencing Seal removes that equipment at once. His pieces also cannot provide the multiplicative unity of a true Legendary Set, while completing them early prevents him from later taking the Consolidated wings issued to Peerless archers. Administration and field judgment

Wei Feng's noncombat ability is the more important one to the Peerless Regiment. He maintains tunnel defenses, scouts, maps, stores, financial accounts, equipment distribution, personnel records, and supply communications. In confrontations he reads when to restrain the soldiers, when to mediate, and when a threat merits escalation. These skills depend on reliable subordinates and resources rather than supernatural power, but they let successive commanders leave major operational detail in his hands and eventually qualify him to direct a state's internal affairs. Relationships

• Zhou Weiqing: Wei Feng begins as Zhou's evaluator and potential obstacle, then becomes one of his most trusted deputies. Zhou gives him resources, autonomy, and hope for the ruffians; Wei Feng turns those promises into systems and follows him into the restoration of Heavenly Bow.
