Heino

Heino is the leader of Alter, a Six-Star time mage, and the long-lived last emperor of Alterian. Behind a polished, youthful appearance, he directs the Deleters, manipulates Pagna's Light Faction, and turns the Golden Globe into the center of a war between worlds. His time magic makes him nearly impossible to injure permanently until Raze Cromwell traps him inside a Dark-magic field and consumes him.

Biography

Alter's smiling commander

Heino enters Light Faction territory with two Deleters and immediately demonstrates the terms on which Alter's “services” operate: after Haris attacks, Heino orders the clan head deleted and then demands that Kawak make their temporary arrangement permanent. He recruits and deploys Deleters as expendable specialists, yet maintains especially deep trust in Garlon. His easy smile and contractual language conceal coercion; the Light leaders receive artifacts and support, but their dependence gives Heino leverage over their decisions and bodies. (Chapters 816–904)

Later revelations reframe that leadership. Heino is not merely an Alterian survivor but Alterian's last emperor, preserved far beyond a normal lifetime through time magic. Memories show Garlon beside him from childhood through his accession, while later evidence establishes that Heino used a disguise mask and imperial authority to sustain a large deception. His ultimate aim is restoration: when he believes Raze defeated, he thinks of returning to Alterian and rebuilding his empire, making his work in Pagna an extension of imperial survival rather than simple mercenary ambition. (Chapters 1094, 1177, 1250, and 1693)

The Golden Globe and open war

Once Alter gains control of the Golden Globe, Heino converts hidden influence into military power. He arranges the Globe's use to bring Enaxx into Pagna, arms the strongest Light warriors, mobilizes the empire through his disguised position, and compels leaders such as Kawak with specially made control devices. The deaths of the Deleters and Garlon strip away his usual composure; he gathers every remaining artifact, commits the Light coalition to open battle, and vows to kill Raze repeatedly. (Chapters 1067–1203)

Heino does not care whether civilians or ordinary Light warriors survive the plan. He chooses the Aurora Clan's open terrain because it suits the coming battle and openly says that he stopped caring about the people long ago. Even so, he remains tactically patient, anticipating reinforcements and concealing satisfaction when others believe the coalition is losing. His command produces a formidable defense, but it also concentrates Alter's remaining power around a personal vendetta against Raze. (Chapters 1203–1215)

The time mage's last reversal

In the decisive battle, Heino initially fights a group including Safa, Liam, and Dame Narfous. Their attacks reveal the exact two-minute interval of his reversal but cannot hold him because he can freeze the local area and reposition himself. Against Raze, he layers time magic with destructive artifacts, even using a soul-removing ring; that item removes the other soul occupying Raze's body instead of Raze himself. Each failed contingency makes Heino less controlled, but he continues relying on reversal to erase wounds, expenditure, and bad positions. (Chapters 1242–1251)

Raze finally floods the battlefield with Dark Magic, denying Heino a valid earlier position to which the reversal can return him. The God Slayer Blazer expands over the trapped mage and consumes him completely; broadcasts show that he never reappears, and the following chapter states that nothing remains. Later, Raze confirms that absorbing Heino gave him the time affinity. Thus Heino's death is both physical annihilation and a transfer of the rare specialization he spent his extended life perfecting. (Chapters 1256–1257 and 1310)

Appearance and personality

Heino appears younger than expected, with bright hair between blond and white, a vivid blue, gold, and white blazer, a pocket watch, and a walking stick. His clothing is unmistakably Alterian rather than Pagna, and even men older in appearance find his youth disconcerting. A mask later lets him change face and clothing, so scenes involving his imperial disguise should not be treated as his natural appearance. (Chapters 816, 850, 1215, and 1431)

His habitual smile, narrow courtesy, and measured speech make intimidation look effortless. He enjoys controlling what others know and preparing contingencies rather than exposing himself directly. Loss reveals the possessiveness beneath that polish: Garlon's death and Alter's destruction make him shout for the first time in Red's experience, while Raze's resistance drives him into disbelief and rage. Heino's own admission that he no longer cares about the people establishes that preservation of power and empire, not public duty, governs his final choices. (Chapters 816, 1167–1186, 1203, and 1250)

Magic, cultivation, and abilities

Six-Star time affinity

Heino is limited to a Six-Star magic core and cannot add another star regardless of knowledge or age. He responds by ceasing to develop other magic and strengthening his unique time affinity instead. This specialization, combined with an unnaturally long life, makes his control far more dangerous than the rank alone suggests. After his death, Raze's extraction-based absorption yields Heino's time affinity, confirming that it is an intrinsic magical affinity rather than a property of Heino's equipment. (Chapters 1080, 1250, 1256, and 1310)

Reversal and time freeze

Heino's signature reversal returns himself and a nearby target to their positions and bodily states from exactly two minutes earlier. It removes wounds, restores spent mana, and can undo a successful enemy attack; he repeats it without a stated numerical limit. Because opponents outside the reversal keep the energy they spent, prolonged use exhausts them while refreshing him. Liam's system identifies the interval, allowing allies to predict where Heino will return, but Heino counters the ambush by freezing the local area. (Chapters 1243–1248)

The reversal still requires an earlier state and space that the magic can reach. Raze surrounds the relevant area with Dark Magic, and Heino can no longer activate the return. Raze's later use of the inherited spell confirms another risk: rewinding restores physical and magical state but does not necessarily remove memories, while certain effects can interfere with remembering to activate it. Those later observations clarify the spell without establishing that Heino personally overcame such limits. (Chapters 1256, 1623, and 1638)

Heino can also stop or drastically slow time in a local area while remaining able to move, freeze an incoming Qi projectile, slow one chosen object, and accelerate his own movement. Later analysis notes a pattern that attacks do not actually land during a full freeze, leaving its offensive action conditional on time resuming. Raze's blazer resists the freeze and consumes time-based projectiles, making Dark nullification a direct counter to Heino's control. (Chapters 1242, 1244–1248, 1256, and 1501)

Time-piercing spears

Heino marks opponents and creates a time spear for each target. The projectiles track their assigned targets, lodge in bodies, and detonate when he activates them; against one opponent he produces and slows one spear at a time, while a group lets him maintain multiple target-specific spears. The attacks injure several powerful Pagna warriors, but Liam's all-cutting blade can sever them and the God Slayer Blazer disintegrates them. Their source is Heino's time mana, not a separate artifact. (Chapters 1242 and 1245–1248)

Relationships

  • Garlon: Garlon is present from Heino's childhood through his reign and becomes his most trusted Deleter. Heino monitors his life through a linked ring, and Garlon's death helps turn careful preparation into open vengeance.
  • Red: Red serves Heino but is trusted less than Garlon. His system and perfect recall make him useful as a witness and aide, while his observations expose how unusually emotional Heino becomes after Alter's losses.
  • Kawak: Heino supplies Kawak with power and presents their alliance as reciprocal, yet ultimately controls him through an artifact. Kawak's cooperation therefore combines ambition, dependency, and compulsion.
  • Enaxx: Heino helps bring Enaxx into Pagna as Alter's overwhelming battlefield answer. He prefers Enaxx to cooperate willingly, but still treats him as part of a plan directed against Raze.
  • Raze Cromwell: Raze becomes the failure Heino cannot tolerate: a Dark mage who survives his artifacts and counters time itself. Their final fight destroys Heino and leaves Raze with his time affinity.

Items

  • Golden Globe: Heino directs Alter's campaign to acquire the God-tier world-bridging artifact and uses its limited opening as the strategic basis for bringing Enaxx into Pagna and reconnecting the two worlds. (Chapters 1038–1094 and 1111–1192)
  • Time-conversion earrings: The earrings transform into guns that turn Heino's time mana into explosive shots and can take on inserted magical properties. Their output costs substantial mana, a cost reversal lets him repeatedly erase. (Chapters 1247–1248)
  • Destruction necklace: While holding the necklace and speaking its command, Heino can destroy a visible item. It has three uses; it fails against Raze's blazer, destroys the Ghost Blade, and retains one unused charge in the last detailed account. (Chapters 1249–1250)
  • Soul-extraction ring: This ring removes a target's soul and consciousness while leaving the living body as an empty vessel. It was made for two uses and had one remaining; after activation on Raze it breaks, having removed the separate Bloody Woman soul instead. (Chapters 1249–1251)
  • Life-gem ring: Distinct from the soul ring, this monitoring artifact contains part of Garlon's magic core and changes from blue to dim red when he dies. It reports Garlon's condition but does not extract souls. (Chapter 1167)
  • Control device and disguise mask: Heino uses a specially crafted item to compel Kawak and a mask capable of changing face and clothing to sustain his imperial impersonation. Their construction and final custody are not established, and neither should be conflated with Raze's separately created Face Change Mask. (Chapters 1186, 1215, 1431, and 1693)
