Kawak

Kawak is the head of the Aurora Clan and one of the Light Faction's leading warriors. He presents his faction as honorable while secretly using foreign artifacts and political manipulation, then allies with Alter in pursuit of greater power and immortality. His rebellion against the Empire ends when he is killed during Raze's war for the Golden Globe.

Biography

Authority behind the faction tournament

Kawak attends the faction tournament as an Aurora Clan head responsible for both the Light Faction's public standing and its students. He praises Ulyn's rise but orders him to wear a dimensional medallion that will activate if he is endangered. When Ulyn objects that artifacts violate the spirit of the competition, Kawak explains that belief in a fair test is useful public instruction, while leadership must secure victory against factions willing to use every advantage. (Chapters 620–640)

The tournament crisis shows the same mixture of caution and coercion. Kawak notices manipulated matchups and initially hesitates to fight the Demonic Faction without understanding who benefits. Once Dark and Demonic figures converge, he interprets the confusion as an alliance, orders an attack, and attempts to detain rival leaders until an investigation serves his terms. After the portal disperses everyone, he gathers information but retains authority through commands rather than mutual trust. (Chapters 638–676)

Alliance with Alter and the imperial coup

Kawak later works with Cicle under Heino's influence. Although control and outside power shape the arrangement, the two clan heads also follow willingly because Alter supplies supporters and items that can raise their position within the Light Faction. Kawak accepts those benefits, visits Alter's base, and treats its intervention as a path toward the immortal realm he wants rather than an occupation to resist. He and Cicle call an emergency meeting and demand that Light Faction clans join a coordinated seizure of imperial cities and officials. Kawak says participation is voluntary, then personally decapitates five of the dissenters while Cicle kills the rest, ensuring no nearby opposition survives to expose or obstruct the plan. He leads the force aimed at the imperial palace, where the broken pact draws Divine warriors and Enaxx into the conflict. (Chapters 1107–1114)

Kawak continues fighting on Alter's side after the coup fails to deliver uncomplicated control. He first uses the Edge of Infinity sword against Raze, discovering with visible delight that it cuts Dark magic, elemental attacks, Qi, and physical weapons without resistance. The artifact lets him speak as though Light Faction supremacy has been proven, even while observers note how heavily his immediate advantage depends on a weapon supplied by Alter. Defeat in the Golden Globe war

During the final Pagna battle, Kawak holds the legendary sword on Heino's side and cuts down warriors whom healing cannot save quickly enough. Dame Narfous, Rayna, and Fing attack together, but conventional weapons, Qi blasts, and close defense are divided by the blade. Their pressure still lands several hits when Kawak cannot turn the sword toward every angle, exposing the difference between the artifact's cutting power and its wielder's finite reactions. (Chapters 1205–1237)

Fing finally allows the sword to pierce his chest so he can lock both of Kawak's hands in place. With the blade unable to move, Dame overwhelms Kawak in his hybrid form, beats him until nearly every bone is crushed, and leaves the body unrecognizable. Aurora Clan members explicitly confirm their leader's death. The sword passes to Liam, turning Alter's decisive advantage into equipment used against its own forces. (Chapters 1238–1239)

Appearance and personality

Kawak initially wears a large mask marked by several crater-like indentations. When he removes it, he appears to be a man in his fifties with long, parted gray-silver hair falling over both shoulders, gray stubble, and a powerful aura. His final injuries destroy any recognizable facial appearance, and the corpus confirms that the body is dead rather than transformed or missing. (Chapters 620, 675, and 1238–1239)

He is politically cautious when information is incomplete but ruthless once his desired direction is clear. Kawak can recognize that an obvious conflict may be manipulated, yet he converts uncertainty into detention and violence whenever it protects Light Faction authority. His private order to Ulyn and execution of dissenters show that honor is a public instrument rather than a rule he applies to himself. (Chapters 638–672, 815, and 1107–1108)

Ambition ultimately overrides that caution. Kawak accepts Alter's assistance to increase his standing, identifies immortality as a goal he will not let opponents obstruct, and becomes openly smug when the all-cutting sword makes Raze's attacks seem irrelevant. That confidence creates a practical weakness: he relies on the blade's absolute edge until opponents exploit the hand and body required to move it. (Chapters 1069–1110, 1180–1182, and 1236–1238)

Magic, cultivation, and abilities

Light Faction cultivation and swordsmanship

Kawak is one of the Light Faction's senior clan heads and a powerful Pagna cultivator, although the corpus never assigns him a formal cultivation stage. He channels Qi through sword attacks, can extend a slash far enough to decapitate several people in one motion, and has the strength, speed, and durability to continue after large Qi blasts and a heavy descending kick injure him. These feats establish high-level combat ability without quantifying it beyond the other faction leaders. (Chapters 672, 1108, and 1236–1238)

His swordsmanship remains distinct from the legendary weapon's effect. Kawak times cuts against incoming attacks, broadens a Qi-infused swing, destabilizes terrain, and turns quickly between several close opponents. He cannot cover every direction at once, and coordinated ranged attacks hit him when his blade is occupied. Once Fing immobilizes both hands, Kawak cannot activate the sword's practical defense and is physically overwhelmed by Dame. (Chapters 1180–1182 and 1236–1238)

All-Cutting Sword

Heino supplies Kawak with the legendary weapon called the Edge of Infinity, later known as the All-Cutting Sword. Its edge divides physical weapons, Qi, elemental spells, Dark magic, magical healing, and armored or transformed flesh without a demonstrated contest of power. Kawak can cut an incoming technique in half, sever a weapon at contact, and threaten any opponent who tries to block conventionally. (Chapters 1180–1182 and 1217)

The effect belongs to the item rather than Kawak. He is using it for the first time when Raze tests it, and Heino explicitly regards the otherwise weaker wielder as useful because of the sword. It still needs to be aimed and moved: simultaneous attacks can pass around it, and Fing neutralizes it by accepting a wound and pinning Kawak's hands. Liam takes the sword after Kawak's death, so Kawak has no latest access to it. (Chapters 1180–1182 and 1236–1239)

Leadership and political control

Kawak directs clan heads, assigns tournament equipment, judges faction threats, and organizes simultaneous strikes against imperial authorities. His command can mobilize the Aurora Clan and aligned Light Faction groups quickly, but it is maintained through hierarchy, secrecy, and execution of dissent rather than universal loyalty. His death therefore provokes immediate calls for revenge without reversing the battlefield result or preserving his personal authority. (Chapters 639, 672–676, 1107–1110, and 1239)

Relationships

• Cicle: Cicle is Kawak's closest political partner in the Light Faction. They accept Alter's support, call the coup meeting together, divide the execution of dissenters, and fight on the same side until both are killed in the Golden Globe war.
• Heino: Heino provides power, supporters, and legendary weapons to control or incentivize the Light Faction leadership. Kawak follows because the arrangement advances his authority and pursuit of immortality, then dies using Heino's sword.
• Ulyn: Ulyn is the Aurora Clan's leading academy student and Kawak's chosen representative. Kawak praises his achievement but orders him to wear an emergency artifact, subordinating Ulyn's belief in fair competition to clan victory.
• Raze Cromwell: Kawak sees Raze's expansion across Pagna as a threat to Light Faction supremacy. Their direct exchange reveals the all-cutting sword's effect, but Raze survives and later leads the coalition that ends Kawak's rule.
• Dame Narfous, Fing, and Rayna: The three coordinate Kawak's final defeat. Fing sacrifices his body to immobilize the sword, Dame kills the exposed clan head, and Rayna sustains the team and witnesses the result.

• All-Cutting Sword: Known to Heino as the Edge of Infinity, this Alterian legendary sword lets Kawak divide nearly any attack or material without a demonstrated power contest. Fing pins the weapon by taking its blade through his chest; after Dame kills Kawak, Liam claims it and becomes its later wielder. (Chapters 1180–1182 and 1217–1239)
• Cratered mask: Kawak wears a large mask with multiple moon-crater-like indentations during his early appearances. No name, enchantment, or defensive function is established. (Chapters 620 and 675)
