Dame Narfous

Dame Narfous is a son of Neverfall Clan Head Belil, a Bonum Hybrid, and one of Raze Cromwell's earliest Pagna allies. Introduced as a playful trader who hides his lineage while testing the supposed Dark Magus, Dame becomes Raze's martial teacher, business partner, and frontline companion. His path turns personal sacrifice into strength: he accepts permanent curses, carries the traits of dead allies through his gauntlets, and develops the judgment to defeat enemies whom strength alone cannot overcome.

Biography

A bargain with the Dark Magus

Dame first meets Raze inside a beast dimension while leading Fixteen and other Neverfall retainers under a deliberately modest identity. Raze removes a dangerous infection from one of his men, and Dame treats the act as a debt too large to settle with thanks. He probes the stranger's strength, recognizes him despite a concealing robe, and returns with a cultivation book. The gift is generous but also shrewd: Dame wants to learn what this unknown “Dark Magus” can do without exposing his own status as Belil's son. (Chapters 16–37)

Their exchange becomes a business partnership after Dame discovers the quality of Raze's pills and enchanted equipment. He supplies martial manuals, metal, information, and access to buyers, while selling products marked with the Dark Magus name through his contacts. Raze is wary of Dame's theatrical manners and sales instinct, but each man possesses knowledge the other lacks. The bargain gives Raze the Ten Descending Steps and gives Dame a route to influence independent of the Neverfall hierarchy that considers him an embarrassment. (Chapters 37–101)

Dame's interest soon extends beyond profit. At the academy he helps train the students, explaining the Neverfall method of breaking down and rebuilding the body while personally pushing Simyon through its punishing repetitions. When outside forces threaten Raze's low-ranked group, Dame fights beside them and helps turn Raze's inventions into practical tools rather than curiosities. The merchant who initially tests an unknown healer therefore becomes a teacher and confidant whose resources help the Dark Magus identity spread across Pagna. (Chapters 100–150)

An independent path through faction conflict

Dame's concealed lineage becomes harder to separate from his new friendships as portal incidents and faction politics intensify. He helps Raze investigate the Dark Faction founder's remnants, participates in the dangerous unsealing of a hidden statue, and understands that the artifacts around them can draw attention from powers beyond an academy dispute. His pressure is divided: Belil and the Neverfall Clan expect obedience, while Dame increasingly values the path he has built with Raze and the students. (Chapters 155–183)

In Repton, Dame works through Fixteen and the local markets while Raze considers Alba's offer to join the Crimson Crane. Dame does not decide Raze's allegiance for him; instead, he remains the intermediary who can translate faction custom, arrange access, and warn of risks. His independence has limits, however. The Neverfall name brings protection and obligations, and his brothers' strength makes a direct break with the clan dangerous even for a gifted young warrior. (Chapters 183–246)

The academy's later abuses force Dame to choose more openly. He recruits or encourages students who are willing to oppose corrupt authority, shares information about the Neverfall treasure room, and supports the coalition forming around Raze. His loyalty is no longer a commercial calculation: he accepts conflict with institutions and relatives whose approval once defined his prospects. Others recognize that Dame and Raze are trying to establish paths not dictated by their factions, making Dame a bridge between the Dark, Demonic, and factionless allies rather than merely Neverfall's representative. Family duty and the broken portal

Belil's approval of Raze's proposed marriage to Rayna binds Dame's chosen ally to his family, but it does not erase the family's unequal treatment of its children. Dame understands that Rayna and he cannot act with the freedom granted to their elder brothers, and he remains wary of the cost of returning to Neverfall territory. Even so, he supports the alliance because it can protect Rayna and gives Raze a legitimate place within the Demonic Faction. (Chapters 347–371)

When the academy and portal conflict becomes a battle for survival, Dame chooses the endangered group over a safe retreat. He separates from other students to help Raze, fights senior warriors, and remains involved as the Dark Magus's concealed power becomes impossible to dismiss. The decision carries a severe consequence: after the dimensional fighting, Dame disappears and his companions cannot even find a body. The local corpus preserves their uncertainty during this interval rather than establishing that they knew where he had gone. (Chapters 371–481)

Dame later returns alive, while Raze's marriage and the Behemoth crisis draw Neverfall, Crimson Crane, and academy allies into the same struggle. His role is increasingly relational rather than purely martial: he connects Rayna and Raze to Demonic Faction knowledge, understands Belil's expectations, and accepts that protecting one side of his life now affects all the others. By the faction tournament, his identity as Dame Narfous is public enough that other warriors recognize him as Belil's son rather than an anonymous trader. (Chapters 481–671)

The tournament and the Hybrid truth

Dame enters the faction tournament amid Murkel's conspiracy and works with Amir to help Raze's people survive. He fights powerful opponents, endures injuries that lead others to assume he is finished, and reenters battle because the rescue matters more than preserving a reputation. His public Neverfall status makes him politically significant, but his real advantage is still hidden: Amir has put him through the brutal process that turns compatible people into beast-linked Hybrids. (Chapters 671–686)

Against Murkel Dockthron, Dame fights beside Alba, Amir, and Raze while cultivating for enough power to matter against a top-stage enemy. The battle shows both his ambition and his dependence on allies; he can pressure Murkel, but cannot settle the conflict alone. After the coalition escapes, Amir reveals that he leads the Bonum Society. Dame's anger makes clear that his transformation was not based on fully informed trust: Amir concealed who controlled the organization and “did everything” to him during the process. Amir's explanation reframes the Hybrid program without eliminating Dame's grievance. Bonum descendants use rare beast bonds because their society lacks Alter's artifact arsenal, and not every candidate survives or succeeds. Dame nevertheless remains with the group and makes his altered body part of his chosen path. Rather than let the experience return him to the passive “outcast” role his family assigned him, he helps Raze reorganize the Dark Faction and treats Hybrid strength as a means to protect the people who rescued one another. Belil's legacy and a fractured family

As Raze consolidates the Dark Faction, Dame backs his ability to defeat the old leadership and helps defend Flendon against Sha Mo. The conflict exposes how little support Dame can expect from Han and Fing: their orders prioritize Rayna, and they leave their brother at the wall. Dame does not respond by abandoning the family altogether. He continues to protect Rayna and works with Raze, placing responsibility above the recognition that Neverfall denied him. Belil's final choices force Dame and his siblings to reconsider the man who shaped their rivalry. Belil asks Raze to look after Rayna and Dame, calling them softer than his elder sons, then transfers his accumulated power and dies. Dame helps Rayna confront the news and advises her to return to the clan rather than evade the resulting succession crisis. His place is still uneasy, but he approaches the funeral as an acknowledged power and participant in the coalition, not the disgraced son who once avoided the clan base. (Chapters 906–1078)

Raze prepares Dame for that return by creating a new set of Legendary cursed gauntlets. Accepting them is a personal crossroads: their curse is permanent sexual impotence, a serious sacrifice for a man whose former life in Repton centered on pleasure and avoidance. Dame decides that refusing the power would leave him with greater regret, because helping Raze and pursuing his own ambitions now matter more than his old habits. Wrath of the Forgotten

Alter attacks during Belil's funeral, turning family grief into open war. Garlon kills Han and mortally wounds Simyon while Rayna and Fing struggle against his nearly invisible Wind-and-Space attacks. Dame intervenes, throws his injured siblings clear, and transforms rather than accept Fing's judgment that the family “loser” cannot win. Rayna's defense of him exposes what the others missed: his apparent lack of ambition concealed a deliberate, dangerous effort to build strength outside their approval. (Chapters 1128–1148)

The gauntlets, named Wrath of the Forgotten, let Dame grip not only matter but Qi, energy, and distorted space. They also call spectral impressions of people who have died. Dame invokes Simyon first, adding the young warrior's hardened defensive traits and Qi to his Hybrid body so that Garlon's breakthrough cannot tear him apart. He then changes to Han's imprint, surrendering Simyon's traits in exchange for Han's Demonic Qi and talent, while Safa's God Eyes identifies the otherwise intangible target. (Chapters 1148–1151)

Dame tears Garlon's dispersed form apart and immediately urges the survivors to hunt the remaining Deleter. The victory neither restores Han nor makes the apparition of Simyon a resurrection; the gauntlets work only because both are dead, a fact Dame understands while the bereaved watch. His response to loss is therefore to carry their accumulated labor into the next fight. A coalition warrior in two worlds

When Raze asks Pagna's factions to unite against Alter, Dame argues that their ancient pact has already been violated and that fear of tradition is no reason to leave the invaders unanswered. He fights within the coalition rather than claiming Neverfall leadership for himself, combining his Hybrid form, gauntlets, and family techniques against enemies using magic and technology. The war confirms that the outcast can serve as a Demonic Faction authority without reproducing the hierarchy that rejected him. (Chapters 1188–1278)

Dame crosses into Alterian with Raze's group and adopts the cover of a transfer student. Modern life amuses him, and his effortless attraction of female attention preserves the public persona he once used in Repton, despite the gauntlets' private curse. Beneath the jokes, he studies a new power system, watches suspicious instructors, and helps Beatrix and Liam plan how to train and investigate without exposing their origin. He is now testing the world that produced Alter rather than only defending Pagna from its agents. (Chapters 1278–1351)

During Wilton's crisis and the Central Academy exchange, Dame protects students, monitors Bronto, and restrains his full strength until concealment no longer serves anyone. His Hybrid speed and Lightning Body let him catch an elite lightning mage whom ordinary pursuit cannot contain, while his multiple arms and gauntlets make close quarters especially dangerous for spellcasters. He leaves the academy campaign as a proven anti-mage combatant, broadening his loyalty from Raze's Pagna circle to civilians threatened in Raze's former world. (Chapters 1351–1520)

Breaking the Cerebus cycle

The Dark Guild rebellion brings Dame into the Underside, where Cerebus's masked warriors present a problem brute force cannot solve. In full Hybrid form he overwhelms one physically, using lightning bursts, eight-armed attacks, and invisible Qi strikes, yet every wound is restored by circulating Light energy. His strongest mobility also drains his own Qi rapidly. Rather than continue a favorable-looking exchange until exhaustion kills him, Dame questions whether the enemy is generating energy or recycling a finite source. (Chapters 1526–1604)

Dame tests that theory through sustained contact and an extraction method resembling the Demonic technique Raze uses. He is slower and less proficient than Raze, but the siphoned Light energy enters Dame instead of returning to the masked body. He deliberately holds the opponent through a point-blank explosion, trusting Simyon's inherited Iron Hard Lightning Body and his Hybrid durability. The decision leaves him burned but standing, and the enemy's failed regeneration confirms that Dame's analysis—not merely his greater number of fists—has found the necessary counter. He applies the discovery cooperatively when Liam traps another regenerating warrior inside Red's energy-sword field. Dame reaches through a controlled opening and drains the power while Liam's blades keep destroying the body; once the energy is gone, the swords make the death permanent. Dame gives Liam credit and redirects them toward surviving Dark Guild fighters rather than joining a battle where they would burden Raze. The choice shows tactical maturity: he judges where his unusual counter can matter instead of chasing the most prestigious opponent. (Chapters 1612–1660)

Noble Land and the united Pagna

After Gizin's defeat, Dame helps assess Safa's sudden rise and remains part of the force confronting Noble Land. When Raze needs Pagna's army, Dame returns with the coalition and enters the assault on Idore. His role is to close distance before the Grand Magus can cast at battlefield scale, using the Lightning Body and Hybrid transformation together. Idore's spatial defense repeatedly relocates him, demonstrating that speed and physical power cannot solve every magical barrier. (Chapters 1661–1736)

Dame keeps attacking until Idore drives an enchanted sword through his stomach. His reinforced body and Hybrid healing prevent immediate death, but they do not make the wound trivial; Liam carries him away while the Crimson Crane continues the fight. From the ground, Dame watches Raze combine the Ten Descending Steps he once taught with Dark Magic and sword formations. His pride closes a long arc: the cultivation book and prediction he offered an unknown mage have helped Raze become strong enough to break the Grand Magus's defenses. (Chapters 1736–1763)

Elite Light mages and Dame's own regeneration eventually close the wound, allowing him to recover during the month before the group returns to Pagna. Ten years later, he remains with Rayna and Liam as Flendon faces clans opposing the unity of the three factions. Dame correctly anticipates that an apparent base will distract defenders from the enemy's strongest force and warns against underestimating the attack. His latest role is therefore both fighter and strategist in the order his companions built, still alive when Raze finally returns. (Chapters 1763–1782)

Appearance and personality

Dame is introduced as a handsome young man with long hair tied in a ponytail, a sharp jaw, and sharp eyes whose severity contrasts with his cheerful speech. He normally fights barehanded or with dark gauntlets and carries himself with the confidence of someone accustomed to being underestimated. His Hybrid transformation is far less human: six additional arms emerge from his back, his mouth widens, and the resulting eight-limbed silhouette is repeatedly compared to a giant spider. (Chapters 16, 37, 1148, and 1736)

Playfulness, flirtation, and salesmanship are genuine parts of Dame's temperament, but they also let him hide tactical attention and family hurt. He jokes during danger, cultivates a reputation for pleasure in Repton, and still attracts crowds at Wilton after accepting a curse that makes his former lifestyle impossible. The corpus frames this not as instant solemnity but as a change in priorities: Dame keeps the charm while abandoning the distractions through which he once avoided ambition. His strongest personal quality is a willingness to commit after uncertainty. Magic, cultivation, and abilities

Neverfall cultivation and fist arts

Dame is trained in the Neverfall Clan's Demonic Qi methods, close-range fist combat, and Descending Steps. The clan's refinement principle repeatedly damages the body so that cultivation and recovery rebuild it stronger; Dame teaches this process to Simyon and applies the same emphasis on physical foundation to himself. His Qi reinforces speed, toughness, and impact, can be projected as invisible fist strikes, and carries the intense character associated with Neverfall arts. He initially knows six of the Ten Descending Steps and teaches their framework to Raze. (Chapters 37, 100, 115, 129, 149–160, and 1151)

His style favors control at the moment of impact rather than weapons or ranged exchanges. Descending Steps provide explosive movement and force, while eight arms later let him punch, grapple, and defend from several angles at once. He can pressure senior Pagna warriors and catch fast Alterian mages, but range, spatial displacement, and opponents beyond his perception remain counters. Bonum Hybrid body

Amir's Bonum Society transforms Dame through a rare bond with a dimensional beast. The process is dangerous, does not work for every candidate, and was performed without Dame knowing Amir's full role; the corpus does not identify the beast by a canonical species or explain every biological mechanism. Dame can shift between a human appearance and a full form with eight arms, an enlarged mouth, and web-producing capability. Hybridization also grants endurance and accelerated recovery. Dame survives magic that tears ordinary bodies apart, holds a Light-energy being through a point-blank detonation, and eventually heals from a sword driven through his stomach with assistance from elite Light mages. This is strong regeneration, not immediate invulnerability: Garlon's attacks cut him, Idore removes him from battle, and sustained high-output combat still exhausts his Qi. Wrath of the Forgotten

Dame's Cursed Gauntlets are Legendary equipment crafted by Raze as an upgrade to Dame's earlier cursed weapons. In Hybrid form their purple energy reproduces a gauntlet over every arm. Their foundational effect is absolute grip: Dame can seize matter, Qi, magical energy, invisible force, and even Garlon's spatially dispersed form, then redirect or tear what he holds. The grip still depends on contact, timing, and the ability to locate a target; it cannot reach through Idore's relocation field or prevent a sufficiently fast enchanted sword from striking him. The “Forgotten” function summons a spectral impression of a dead person and adds that person's Qi and traits to Dame rather than replacing his existing strength. Simyon's imprint grants his cultivated hardness and Lightning Body; Han's supplies Demonic Qi and martial talent. Calling a new impression dismisses the previous traits, and the function operates only on the dead, so the apparitions are not established as restored living souls. The price is explicit and permanent: equipping the Legendary gauntlets makes Dame sexually impotent for life. His earlier cursed gauntlets would destroy themselves if he pursued sexual pleasure, but the upgrade's curse cannot be escaped by putting the weapon away. Dame knowingly accepts that cost because he believes refusing the strength to help Raze would produce lifelong regret. Lightning Body and borrowed traits

Through Simyon's imprint, Dame can surround his Hybrid body with lightning, move in abrupt electrical bursts, and add the young warrior's defensive refinement to his own durability. This combination lets him ignore lesser energy beams, survive Garlon's breakthrough, and catch a specialist lightning mage. It also interacts with all eight gauntleted arms, allowing high-speed attacks from directions unfamiliar to conventional mages. The form consumes Qi quickly. Dame explicitly fears that the masked Cerebus fighter's recycling energy will outlast his reserves, and even his large capacity cannot make continuous high-speed movement free. By the battle with Idore, Dame can still combine Lightning Body with his transformed state, but spatial redirection prevents speed alone from bringing him within striking range. Energy extraction and combat analysis

Dame develops a contact-based extraction technique that removes circulating energy from a target and adds it to himself. Its exact acquisition is not fully stated: he compares it with a Neverfall or Demonic technique and acknowledges that Raze performs extraction faster and more proficiently. Against Cerebus's masked energy bodies, Dame reasons that their healing reuses finite Light energy, then drains that energy while maintaining a grapple. Extraction requires sustained physical contact, making range, superior speed, and forced separation natural counters. Dame withstands an explosion to preserve his hold, while Liam later supplies the restraint field that lets him drain a second opponent safely. The energy does not vanish; it enters Dame, though the corpus does not establish how long he retains foreign Light energy or whether he can cast Light Magic with it. Dame's broader tactical skill supports every power above. He reads attack timing despite invisible magic, recognizes that apparent infinite energy must have a circulation mechanism, judges when helping Raze would become interference, and anticipates a feint against Flendon ten years later. • Raze Cromwell: Dame first treats Raze as a valuable mystery, then becomes his teacher, business partner, friend, and frank adviser. He gives Raze the cultivation framework behind the Descending Steps; Raze answers with cursed equipment that permanently changes Dame's life. Their alliance survives family politics and two interworld wars because both choose paths outside the institutions that tried to define them.
• Rayna: Dame and Rayna share the experience of being valued below their elder brothers. He protects her without treating her as incapable, advises her to confront the Neverfall succession, and remains beside her in the united Pagna ten years after the war.
• Belil: Dame grows under the pressure of a nearly unreachable father who regards him as softer and less accomplished than Han or Fing. Belil nevertheless asks Raze to protect Dame and Rayna. Dame's later pride in becoming powerful does not erase his recognition that Belil remained the family's strongest warrior.
• Amir: Amir trains Dame and arranges his Hybrid transformation while hiding that he leads Bonum. Dame resents the deception, but continues working with him after learning why Bonum relies on dangerous beast bonds. Their relationship combines violated trust with a shared commitment against Alter.
• Simyon: Dame is Simyon's harsh but committed cultivation teacher. After Simyon dies, Dame uses the gauntlets to preserve the defensive strength the student built, explicitly treating it as proof that Simyon's work and sacrifice were not wasted.
• Liam: Their competitive jokes develop into precise combat cooperation. Dame drains the energy that sustains Liam's trapped opponent, gives Liam credit for the kill, and later trusts his system-assisted judgment during the final war.
• Safa: Dame trains and protects Safa's student group, while her God Eyes later guide him to Garlon's dispersed magical body. Their victory is possible because her perception supplies what his grip and borrowed power cannot locate alone.
