Silvan Doomblade

Silvan Doomblade is the Fifth Prince of the Demon World, a dark-elf swordsman, captain of the flying ship Black Flame Dragon, and Felicia's twin brother and sworn protector. His bond with Felicia determines his alliances and his greatest sacrifices, while his gradual mastery of the dangerous fairy in his right eye transforms him from a pure aura swordsman into a magic swordsman and trusted knight of In-gong.

Biography

Dark-Elf Prince and Protective Brother

Silvan is first described through In-gong's memories as a formidable future enemy and a major participant in the Day of Massacre, but his direct arrival overturns that expectation. After Felicia contacts him from the lycanthrope territory, he drives his flying ship to Spider Forest much faster than she expects and rams the crazed guardian formation in an impulsive attempt to save her. Once the ship crashes, he joins the ground battle, restrains the remaining guardian, and oversees the aftermath. His motive is personal rather than factional: he came because Felicia was exhausted and in danger, and his immediate respect for In-gong's contribution begins replacing inherited royal distance with cooperation. (Chapters 21 and 90–93)

That cooperation becomes a factional commitment through ordinary missions as well as emergencies. Silvan transports the coalition aboard his flagship, leaves Sepira and a squad to protect Spider Forest, and fights as the strongest member of his crew. His aura blade can cut the metal bodies of caltos without exploiting their softer mouths, allowing the others to conserve strength for their underwater objective. Felicia, who understands both his ability and his vanity, can redirect him with praise, but her care is reciprocal: when Amita offers equipment, she gives up her own order so Silvan can receive a sword tailored precisely to his hand. By the next court gathering, he travels publicly with Felicia, In-gong, Chris, and Caitlin as part of the new faction. (Chapters 96–100 and 107–108)

The depth and cost of Silvan's protective role emerge when Gerard, the Famine Knight, invades a ruin in Karamis. Silvan suppresses his concern for the missing ship because Felicia is beside him, chooses defensible ground so she can prepare magic, and uses an aura barrier to resist Famine after the planned trap fails. Gerard's Arang shatters his aura flow, yet Silvan continues interposing himself between Famine and Felicia. With no safe option left, he invokes Felicia's emergency permission, removes his eyepatch, and opens the fairy he has sealed since childhood. Its golden magic drives Gerard back for roughly twenty minutes and buys Felicia time to escape, but it consumes Silvan's aura and then his life force until he is near death. (Chapters 137–140)

Silvan's geis initially prevents In-gong from saving him. He has magically sworn himself as Felicia's knight and rejects appointment under another ruler even while dying. Felicia resolves the conflict by voluntarily becoming In-gong's sixth King's Knight, placing her own knight within the same hierarchy; Silvan then accepts the seventh position. Through that link, Conquest closes the fairy's uncontrolled outflow and puts it to sleep, while magic drawn from the ruin restores part of Silvan's depleted reserve. When he wakes, he mourns his dead crew, worries about Sepira's severed arm, thanks In-gong for saving everyone, and promises lifelong service while frankly maintaining Felicia's priority. The crisis therefore does not replace his original oath: it reconciles that oath with a durable place in In-gong's coalition. (Chapters 141–144)

Alliance and Final War

Recovery gives Silvan a different future from the uncontrolled destruction In-gong remembers. Conquest limits the fairy's output without changing its dangerous nature, so Silvan must stabilize physically, study magic he had avoided, and learn to control the flow rather than simply unseal it. He embraces that work as a path toward becoming a true magic swordsman for Felicia. In parallel, his ship remains the dark-elf siblings' operational base and transports the united royal faction to Sky Forest. Silvan's theatrical captaincy can embarrass his crew, but he takes the responsibility seriously: he commands the inherited sacred vessel, coordinates its sailors, and remains aboard when its speed, communications, workshop, or weapons are needed. (Chapters 144–150 and 185–186)

The Sky Forest catastrophe tests both forms of command. Silvan directs the Black Flame Dragon against the demonic god, helps destroy one of the strongholds feeding the magic fog, and opens the fairy while the ship fires repeated red masthead attacks. The effort exhausts him and lightning forces the vessel into a crash landing, but Conquest now stabilizes the fairy instead of allowing the old fatal drain to continue. This visible control begins repairing his relationship with Chris, whose distance is later revealed to come from a childhood accident in which the fairy nearly killed Chris and Caitlin. Chris visits the recovering Silvan, confirms that In-gong can restrain the power, and continues serving beside him even though full forgiveness remains unspoken until after the war. (Chapters 185–191, 194, and 231)

Silvan stays with the coalition as it moves north, even when severe turbulence forces him to send the Black Flame Dragon back to Enger Plains with a minimal crew. On foot, he combines swordsmanship and controlled fairy magic: his swings detonate groups of undead, and a later lightning bolt disintegrates enemies threatening Felicia's formation. These actions let Felicia conserve enough attention for large-scale terrain magic and give her confidence that her brother is guarding their flank. When In-gong's soul is nearly destroyed after the battle with Shutenberg, Silvan can only watch anxiously as Felicia exhausts herself sustaining the flight toward the gandharva ritual that may save their leader; his role shifts from exuberant protector to a companion capable of sharing uncertainty. At the Sanctuary, In-gong's succession as Demon King raises the King's Knights to their decisive state, and Conquest gives Silvan complete control of the fairy for the battle. He and Felicia hold hands and use its magic to stop one of the red dragon's seven light pillars. Silvan then follows In-gong's final charge, springs ahead with Amita's sword, and uses fairy lightning to open a path through the dragon's defenses. After In-gong destroys the dragon, Silvan once again protects the exhausted Felicia until the remaining beasts retreat. He survives the war, attends In-gong's coronation, and awaits Felicia's wedding. By then he no longer covers his golden eyes, can control the fairy “somewhat,” and can stand comfortably beside Chris, whose eventual forgiveness completes Silvan's reconciliation with the coalition the old future had made his enemy. Appearance and personality

Silvan is a handsome dark elf with shiny silver hair, healthy brown skin, and a noble bearing. He traditionally covers his right eye—the seat of the fairy—with an eyepatch, while his visible left eye can be reinforced with aura for long-distance sight. The fairy sometimes turns the right eye gold, and by the epilogue both uncovered eyes appear golden. His taste is deliberately flamboyant: a formal portrait gives him a plumed captain's hat, tight silk trousers, and a dramatic pose, while court appearances place him in a colorful suit resembling a sailor's dress uniform. (Chapters 93, 97, 107, 144, 176, and 231)

He is theatrical, vain, and almost immune to embarrassment. Silvan calls himself a prince of the heavens, gives shouted orders that make his crew blush, and responds readily to praise, especially when it comes from Felicia. Beneath the comedy, he is disciplined, empathetic, and courageous. He takes responsibility for injured subordinates, grieves crew members he could not save, accepts that his own death may be the price of Felicia's survival, and can speak with formal restraint when duty requires it. His boastfulness therefore coexists with an unusually serious understanding of service. (Chapters 93, 96–97, 101, and 138–144)

Felicia is the center of Silvan's emotional life. His constant embraces and declarations frequently exasperate her, and she can exploit his eagerness, but his concern is neither shallow nor one-sided: she trusts his reliability, sacrifices her equipment request for him, enters the King's Knights to save him, and fights hand-in-hand with him at the Sanctuary. Silvan gradually extends that loyalty outward. Gratitude to In-gong becomes a sworn duty, shared danger makes him more comfortable with the other royal children, and the brother who once stood apart from Chris can finally joke beside him about their sisters' wedding. Powers and abilities

Swordsmanship and aura

Silvan is an expert swordsman with outstanding aura control. Before using the fairy, he has trained his body and aura rather than magic, and Felicia treats his mastery as the standard against which extraordinary aura feats should be judged. He can reinforce his eyesight, wrap his body in an aura barrier, move and strike with speed and accuracy, and form an aura blade sharp enough to cut the metal shells of caltos. His disciplined body survives Gerard's internal Arang attack when an ordinary elf would be expected to fall, although the blow disrupts his aura circulation and forces him into a losing battle of attrition. (Chapters 72, 97, and 138–140)

His swordsmanship remains the structure through which later magic is applied. Fairy power can extend the blade into golden light, turn a swing into an explosion that destroys groups of undead, or release lightning along an opened route. These effects require the fairy and should not be treated as ordinary aura techniques. Conversely, his fundamental accuracy, timing, and capacity to intercept an enemy remain his own; the final charge shows him using both together, with Amita's fitted sword directing the fairy's lightning while his movement opens the way for In-gong. The fairy

Silvan was born with the fairy, a blessing passed down from the first fairy king and a curse to every later bearer. It produces enormous magic power, converts the owner's natural strength—including aura—into magic, reconciles powers that are normally incompatible, and can draw on ambient magic power. At its theoretical limit this supply can seem infinite, but the user cannot safely command it: once ordinary magic and converted strength are exhausted, the fairy consumes the life force needed to keep its bearer alive. Every bearer except the first fairy king is said to have died from excessive use. (Chapter 139)

A childhood loss of control nearly kills Chris and Caitlin, leaving Chris with a decade of resentment and Silvan and Caitlin without a clear memory of the trauma. Silvan responds by sealing the right eye behind an eyepatch, refusing to open it again, and avoiding magical study so he can remain as far from the fairy as possible. Against Famine, he knowingly abandons those precautions for Felicia. Golden magic erupts without formal spells, infuses his sword, converts his already broken aura into more power, and overwhelms Famine temporarily; after about twenty minutes, however, the leak has exhausted almost everything keeping him alive. (Chapters 138–141 and 231)

Conquest changes the fairy's usability, not its underlying danger. In-gong first closes the uncontrolled outflow and limits it to a much smaller channel, allowing Silvan to use some magic while he learns control. Opening the full reservoir would still make it run wild, and using it heavily at Sky Forest leaves Silvan bedridden even though the King's Knights link stabilizes it afterward. His control progresses through study and repeated combat: in the northern battle he can produce broad golden explosions and lightning, and during the Sanctuary battle Conquest permits complete control for the immediate crisis. The latest epilogue shows him without the eyepatch saying he can control it only “somewhat,” so independent mastery remains incomplete. (Chapters 141, 144, 191, 194, 212–213, 226–227, and 231)

Geis and the King's Knights

Silvan's geis is a binding magical oath that makes him Felicia's knight. Its force is strong enough that he rejects In-gong's life-saving appointment while at the edge of death, because accepting another master directly would violate his prior allegiance. Felicia solves the hierarchy rather than breaking the oath: she becomes In-gong's sixth King's Knight first, after which her own knight can become the seventh. The text does not provide the geis's incantation, original date, penalties, or a method of voluntary release. (Chapters 138 and 141)

As a King's Knight, Silvan receives the system's increases to physical ability and magic power, a Conquest coat of arms, a connection to In-gong, and access to the authority that restrains his fairy. This arrangement preserves his obligation to Felicia while adding service to In-gong; Silvan explicitly states that both oaths bind him, though Felicia remains his first priority. In the final battle the connection gathers him beside In-gong and elevates the fairy from limited control to complete control for the confrontation with the red dragon. The corpus does not isolate a numerical multiplier, duration, or postwar level for Silvan's enhancement. (Chapters 141, 144, 198, and 226)

Aerial command and equipment interactions

Silvan is a combat captain as well as an individual fighter. He commands the Black Flame Dragon's crew, assigns Sepira as vice-captain and navigator, leaves defensive detachments when a region needs protection, and uses the ship's speed, communications, workshop, cargo capacity, and masthead weapon in coalition operations. The vessel's flight and red masthead beam are ship-derived capabilities rather than Silvan's personal magic. At Sky Forest, Silvan activates the fairy while ordering repeated attacks, but the text does not separately explain how the fairy and the ship's weapon interact. The ship also has practical limits: inexperienced handling initially produces rough flight, carrying roughly two hundred soldiers exceeds capacity, northern turbulence threatens its sails, and severe battle damage can force a crash landing. Amita's unnamed silver sword is likewise equipment rather than a new innate power. It has no transformation or stated special technique; its value is that it is balanced exclusively for Silvan and feels like an extension of his body. More importantly, it survives being filled with the fairy's otherwise overwhelming magic power, permitting him to preserve his swordsmanship when using the fairy. Earlier versions of Silvan known to In-gong lacked a blade capable of enduring that output. • In-gong: Silvan moves from a distant potential enemy to In-gong's seventh King's Knight.
