Caitlin Moonlight

Caitlin Moonlight is the Eighth Princess of the Demon World, a half-lycanthrope and half-sura fighter raised within the lycanthrope royal faction. Her wish for a closer family first draws her toward In-gong and Felicia, while her skill in Beast Authority makes her one of In-gong's earliest teachers. Their linked aura cores later turn that affection into an exceptional combat partnership, and Caitlin ultimately chooses to become In-gong's knight, apostle, and prospective queen.

Biography

Alliance on the Northern Front

Caitlin enters the northern campaign as Elaine's publicly recognized royal daughter and Chris's younger sister, already strong enough to command a lycanthrope unit despite being only fifteen. The political basis of that identity is more precarious than her position suggests: she is actually the daughter of Elaine and the sura captain Gallehed rather than Demon King Mitra's biological child. In-gong knows the secret from Knight Saga, Chris is shown to know it, and the late narration confirms that Zephyr knows but remains silent. Chapter 200 explicitly states that Caitlin knows nothing about her own birth, and no later chapter shows anyone revealing the truth to her. (Chapters 3, 6–7, 19, 199–200, and 231)

Her first direct encounters with In-gong show both sides of her battlefield character. She controls her own wild blood through disciplined breathing, worries about the wounded Seira, and feels genuine frustration at having missed the enemy leadership. When In-gong undertakes reconnaissance, Caitlin accompanies him unofficially so her presence will not diminish his merit. She teaches him how to perceive aura and treats his safety as more important than taking command credit, making practical protection the basis of their early alliance. (Chapters 10, 14, 19–20)

That concern becomes reciprocal during the rescue operation in the Red Lightning base. In-gong expects to find Caitlin in need of rescue but instead finds her breaking through the orcs herself; Caitlin's first relief is that he is unharmed, and she remains behind as rear guard because she trusts Chris to escape independently. Her warm reception of the rescued Felicia also crosses the distance between royal factions. The mission therefore expands Caitlin's circle without weakening her existing confidence in Chris. Caitlin then teaches In-gong Beast Authority, patiently demonstrating its eight foundational movements and explaining how the lycanthrope art joins internal and external aura to strengthen the body. She is delighted rather than threatened when he learns abnormally quickly, and she even offers to teach Felicia because she wants greater closeness among the royal siblings. During later private training, she shares the royal Divine Beast Authority; their four-day aura trance pushes both fighters past a barrier, making the instruction a source of Caitlin's growth as well as In-gong's. The alliance solidifies through joint expeditions and open warfare. Caitlin lends her will and magic to activating the Thunder Light Anvil, trains alongside In-gong, and develops a friendship with Felicia that would have been difficult under the factions' earlier separation. On the northern front, she and Chris operate as the army's breakthrough force, smashing obstacles and killing enemy commanders at close range. Her light leather armour reflects the explosive physical demands of Divine Beast Authority rather than a lack of equipment or battlefield experience. (Chapters 31–38, 49, and 62)

Moonlight Training and Royal Missions

Caitlin's next transformation begins with near-fatal defeat. She and Chris confront Gerard with the perfectly coordinated pincer they developed over years, but Gerard's Famine power suppresses Caitlin's aura and leaves her critically injured. Felicia divides the Moonlight Extract between Caitlin and the equally endangered In-gong. The medicine saves them and produces Caitlin's Starlight Core and In-gong's Moonlight Core, binding their vitality and aura so that closeness accelerates recovery and physical contact can create a far stronger four-heart circulation. (Chapters 79–84)

The new connection changes both Caitlin's techniques and her place in the group. Aura received from In-gong teaches her Divine Sura Authority through the linked cores, while Chris concludes that she should undertake missions with In-gong instead of always remaining at his side. Caitlin and In-gong practice until they can activate the quad-core without continuous contact, exchange power during combat, and read each other's needs through its response. The bond is powerful but intrusive: In-gong can drain her aura unexpectedly, leaving her pale and exhausted. (Chapters 84, 89–92, 96, and 101)

Caitlin begins turning that new independence into deliberate choice. At court she volunteers for In-gong and Felicia's mission, arguing that their team needs a close-range warrior, even though the assignment separates her from Chris. Chris accepts the decision because her experience with In-gong has already proved that she can act outside their habitual pair. When Mad Dog Jiks later ambushes them, Caitlin's Starlight Core alone does not ensure victory; it is the restored quad-core circulation and coordinated pincer with In-gong that allow them to overpower him. During the Evian campaign, Caitlin develops from a powerful escort into a field leader. She directs lycanthropes into beast form, transfers aura to In-gong during the relief march, and helps spearhead the breakthrough to Vandal's army. Against Paratus and Karatus, her two hearts combine with In-gong's three as a penta-core, flooding both with aura and accelerating recovery. The unfamiliar output is initially difficult to control, and Caitlin is less durable than In-gong, but she adapts quickly enough to sustain their decisive combined assault. (Chapters 119–130)

Victory does not erase the system's costs. The deaths and violent shocks surrounding their linked circulation disturb both partners, and In-gong must redistribute the penta-core burden when its output hurts Caitlin. Their daily sparring afterward turns a dangerous emergency technique into a practiced partnership. Caitlin also returns to a changed royal coalition: after Gerard's death and Silvan's rescue, her concern about Elaine's reaction is met by In-gong's reassurance, while her growing friendship with Felicia gives her a place beyond the lycanthrope faction alone. Coalition Fighter and Future Queen

Caitlin remains a constant presence while In-gong recovers and later reunites with him and Felicia during the western crisis, openly embracing both. Her decisive personal commitment follows the sura Sanctuary campaign. When In-gong offers Chris and Caitlin places in the King's Knights, Chris declines because a future lycanthrope king cannot be another ruler's subordinate. Given the same freedom, Caitlin kneels and states that she will become In-gong's knight, converting a long-standing emotional and martial bond into a voluntary political allegiance of her own. (Chapters 150, 175, and 182)

The appointment is unusually strong because Conquest overlays an existing Starlight-Moonlight connection. Caitlin receives the Coat of Arms and the benefits of the knight system, while In-gong gains additional apostle capacity. She soon uses that bond as part of a wider coalition, helping Felicia destroy a magic stronghold and then releasing all of her aura through the core when In-gong fights the demonic god. The support helps power his combined attack, but it also leaves Caitlin exhausted, again showing that shared output transfers cost rather than eliminating it. (Chapters 182 and 187–191)

Trust within that coalition brings Caitlin into In-gong's most dangerous personal secret. As a King's Knight and the person linked directly to his aura heart, she is among those shown the record that Shutra's body was created from Dhrtarastra's essence and born without a soul. In-gong does not disclose his other-world origin to the group, so the corpus does not establish that Caitlin knows the identity or origin of the soul that later inhabited Shutra. The birth revelation nevertheless removes the assumption that she and In-gong share Mitra's blood. Chris immediately raises marriage as a possible outcome, embarrassing Caitlin, but her loyalty does not depend on that prospect; she had already chosen knighthood before learning the truth. Beyond the Northern Limit Line, Caitlin is made an apostle during a frost-worm ambush. The transformation brings forward fangs, wild eyes, and a stronger beast-like nature, and her first action is to shield Felicia and Anastasia. After Silvan opens a frost worm's body, she enters the wound and destroys the creature from within; Conquest delays her sensation of the lethal cold, but the duration and degree of that protection are not stated. In the next battle Chris entrusts her with the point of the lycanthrope wedge, and she leads allied knights through the undead toward the enemy magic circle. (Chapters 206–214)

The Starlight link remains important even when Caitlin cannot prevent In-gong's near death: it lets her perceive how his life is failing, while the separate King's Knight bond confirms to the knights that he has not yet died. During his gandharva rebirth she feels his transformed heart answer her core, confirming that their connection survives the merger of his powers. At the final Sanctuary battle she awakens her apostle power, supplies aura for the attacks against the red dragon and then for In-gong's Black Sun, and finishes exhausted because In-gong's restorative level gains do not refill her reserves. After the apocalypse is averted, Caitlin's personal alliance is poised to become part of the new royal order. The family treats her marriage to In-gong as nearly certain, alongside Felicia and Anastasia, although negotiations place Anastasia rather than Caitlin as first queen. Caitlin accompanies In-gong onto the coronation altar in a blue dress, and three weddings are scheduled for the following month. The narrative distinguishes her and Felicia's marriages as unions of established affection as well as politics, completing Caitlin's progression from a sheltered factional princess to a knight and prospective queen who chose her ruler. Appearance and personality

Caitlin is introduced with dark blue hair tied up, black leather armour, and a bloodied battlefield appearance that contrasts with her youth. Her eyes are golden, and her lycanthrope-sura body is visibly strong despite its lack of a complete lycanthrope beast form. She normally dresses conservatively under Chris's watch, though she wears a yellow off-shoulder dress to a royal gathering and a shoulder-covering blue dress at In-gong's coronation. She is still growing during the central campaigns, leading Amita to make armour that adjusts with her height. (Chapters 6, 10, 62, 87, 109, 113, 145, and 231)

Away from combat, Caitlin is bright, sincere, physically affectionate, and quick to express amazement. She wants the royal siblings to live as a family, readily welcomes Felicia, and responds to In-gong's rapid learning with enthusiasm rather than jealousy. That openness can make her appear innocent in political or romantic conversations, but it does not make her indecisive: she insists on taking missions away from Chris, chooses knighthood when he declines it, and accepts frontline responsibility. In battle her friendliness becomes concentrated aggression, discipline, and concern for comrades rather than cruelty. (Chapters 19, 24–28, 37–38, 104, 182, 206, and 230–231)

Powers and abilities

Caitlin is primarily an aura-based close-combat specialist whose hybrid body supports explosive speed, strength, and endurance. Her original lycanthrope discipline, later Divine Sura Authority, the Starlight Core, and Conquest's knight system accumulate rather than replacing one another. She is most effective in coordinated assaults with Chris or In-gong, but the corpus repeatedly shows the limits of that specialization: aura suppression can disable her, linked circulation can exhaust her, and her basic magic cannot substitute for a dedicated magician or healer.

Hybrid body and senses

As the daughter of the lycanthrope Elaine and the sura Gallehed, Caitlin inherits the unusual physical strength of the lycanthrope royal family together with a sura lineage. Her aura-enhanced body lets her fight armoured opponents bare-handed, break through troops, endure severe exchanges, and follow the lycanthropes' fast forced marches. She also shares lycanthrope scent awareness and wild-blood impulses, which she normally regulates through breathing and discipline. These traits are innate foundations rather than proof that every lycanthrope or sura capability is available to her. (Chapters 7, 10, 20, 49, 116, and 119–123)

Her mixed heritage specifically prevents the ordinary complete Beast Form used by lycanthropes, even though it leaves her with exceptional lycanthrope strength. Supernatural interference can also turn her instincts against her: a hostile spirit temporarily drives her into an uncontrolled state that Felicia and Green Wind must restrain. Apostleship later produces fangs, wild eyes, and a beast-like body expressing the full strength of the wilderness, but the text does not define this as a permanent Beast Form or explain how often she can enter it without In-gong's Conquest. Beast Authority and Divine Beast Authority

Beast Authority is Caitlin's foundational martial art. It circulates aura inside and outside the body, reinforces muscles and movement, and turns punches, kicks, charges, and evasive footwork into techniques suited to a werewolf's physical power. Caitlin has practiced it long enough to teach the eight basic movements slowly and to diagnose another person's circulation. In combat she uses the art without a conventional weapon, preferring flexible leather armour because rigid metal would obstruct the explosive expansion involved in Divine Beast Authority. Divine Beast Authority is a royal and normally secret development of that system. Caitlin transmits it to In-gong through close aura practice, and the resulting four-day trance gives both of them new understanding rather than simply copying a sequence of attacks. Its demonstrated effects are heightened physical reinforcement, speed, explosive power, and refined aura control. It is not invulnerable: Gerard's Famine energy can stop Caitlin's aura, superior enemies can injure her through it, and sustained maximum output continues to demand recovery. Divine Sura Authority

After the Moonlight and Starlight Cores connect, Caitlin receives In-gong's aura and acquires Divine Sura Authority, the synthesis he formed from the Sura Heart Law and Divine Beast Authority. She incorporates it into her close-range strikes and coordinated attacks, increasing the variety and force of a style previously grounded only in lycanthrope circulation. The corpus does not enumerate every Sura Heart Law form she can use or show her performing In-gong's named sura techniques independently, so her exact mastery beyond the demonstrated integrated combat style remains unknown. Starlight Core and linked circulation

The Starlight Core forms when Caitlin consumes half of the Moonlight Extract after Gerard critically injures her. It functions as a second aura heart and connects to In-gong's Moonlight Core. Proximity causes their life force to respond and improves recovery; direct contact initially lets all four aura hearts circulate as one system. With practice, the pair can activate the quad-core at short separation, communicate needs through its response, and deliberately send aura in either direction. The exact maximum distance is never stated. (Chapters 80–84, 89–92, 101, and 121)

The linked system greatly increases output and learning. Caitlin can refill In-gong during a battle, support his strongest attacks, and acquire insights from his circulation, while In-gong gains Caitlin's aura without interrupting his own techniques. When his dragon heart joins the four aura hearts, the penta-core supplies even more power and faster recovery. That scale is difficult to control and can hurt both users; shock passes through the connection, In-gong can draw too much aura involuntarily, and his level-up recovery does not restore Caitlin. (Chapters 84, 91–96, 127–131, 139, and 227–228)

The core also serves as a persistent bond rather than only a combat engine. Caitlin can sense In-gong's condition through it, and during his rebirth she feels the Moonlight response even as his dragon heart and Moonlight Core merge into a single transformed heart. Its latest demonstrated state is a dual-core formed by Caitlin's Starlight Core and that merged heart; during the final battle, its power explicitly exceeds the old penta-core. King's Knight and apostle

Caitlin voluntarily becomes one of In-gong's King's Knights after the sura Sanctuary campaign. Conquest places its Coat of Arms upon her and strengthens a bond already established through the paired cores, allowing In-gong to locate or summon his knights and share the order's enhancements. Her appointment is an individual oath rather than an extension of Chris's faction: he explicitly leaves the decision to her, and she accepts even though his future kingship prevents him from doing the same. (Chapters 182, 187, and 189)

In-gong later raises Caitlin to apostle status. On activation, Conquest magnifies her wild, beast-like strength; she can tear through a frost worm internally and later releases the full strength of the wilderness against the red dragon's forces. After the frost-worm attack, the narration says Conquest keeps her from feeling the cold immediately, but it does not establish immunity or state how long the protection lasts. The independent activation conditions and cost to Caitlin after the final battle are likewise not explained. (Chapters 206–208 and 226–228)

Battlefield coordination and basic magic

Caitlin has extensive experience as a soldier and small-unit leader. With Chris she fights as one half of an almost instinctive pincer, and with In-gong she learns to coordinate that same pressure through their shared core. She commands lycanthrope transformations, leads breakthrough formations, takes the point of a wedge through undead forces, and can make rapid decisions while protecting less durable allies. Her victories against Jiks, Karatus, frost worms, and the demonic-god forces are cooperative achievements, not solitary proof that she can overpower every opponent involved. Caitlin can supply ordinary magic power to devices and use basic support spells, but magic is not her main combat system. She fails when attempting to blend magic directly with aura because the energies interfere, and she openly lacks recovery magic when the group needs healing. Her practical role is therefore to activate or reinforce magic mechanisms when enough power is required, then rely on aura, physical combat, and coordination for battle.
