Felicia Doomblade

Felicia Doomblade is the Sixth Princess of the Demon World, a dark-elf spirit magician and archaeologist, and one of In-gong's closest political, military, and romantic partners. Her rescue from the Red Lightning tribe begins an alliance that grows into chosen family, service as a King's Knight and apostle, and a place beside the new Demon King.

Biography

Alliance and Rescue

Felicia enters the Red Lightning conflict as the leader of an independent force and as the half-sister of Chris and Caitlin, but she is operating separately from both of them. While studying nearby ruins, she hears about the fighting and tries to help, only to become lost and captured by the orcs. By the time In-gong's party finds her bound inside a burning building, she has already loosened half her restraints. In-gong shields her from an arrow during the escape, and Felicia immediately repays the risk: despite shaking from the ordeal, she removes the projectile, casts Massive Heal, and later uses Grease to topple a blood ogre into Carack's reach. (Chapters 20–26)

The rescue unsettles the distance Felicia had maintained from her siblings. She is astonished that Chris and Caitlin came for her, then gives them a sincere, awkward thanks and accepts Caitlin's embrace even while remaining wary of Chris. She also visits In-gong at night to check the wound she healed, applies recovery, poison, and disease treatments, and questions him about his relationship with the lycanthrope siblings. Her caution has a political edge—cooperation with the unexpectedly capable Ninth Prince could balance hostile royal factions—but gratitude and concern are already making the connection personal. Felicia's expertise makes her a natural member of the coalition's ruin expeditions. She tests a crack in a cliff with a wind spirit, fills it with a water spirit, and freezes the water to split the stone, allowing the group to enter the Thunder Light Anvil without relying on brute force alone. In these missions and the fighting that follows, she repeatedly controls terrain and lines of attack rather than competing with the frontline warriors: wind redirects flames, barriers divide danger, and slippery or sinking ground exposes large enemies to allied attacks. The missions establish a durable division of labor in which Felicia interprets magical spaces and shapes the battlefield while In-gong and Carack exploit the openings. Her commitment becomes explicit through the Tears of a Dark Elf, a necklace she gives In-gong to protect his mind. It completely blocks Mustafa's destructive battle cry and gives In-gong the opening needed to win, after which Felicia proudly checks whether her gift worked. She volunteers for the Enger Plains mission both to support him and to investigate its ruins, but her conduct there puts lives ahead of research: she maintains defensive magic while exhausted, heals the wounded Ferocious Eyes, and spends scarce power treating centaurs. By the end of the campaign, she regards In-gong as a powerful ally worth introducing to the dark-elven side of the royal family and advises him on how to cultivate that support. Royal Missions and Family Bonds

At Thunderdoom Fortress, Felicia becomes the expedition's planner as well as its magician. She rejects a large force because the lethal ruins would turn numbers into casualties, assembles a compact team with distinct roles, and prepares masks and detoxification tools before entry. Her precautions cannot neutralize every poison or trap, and the party is eventually pushed to the edge of death, but she keeps casting barriers and spirit magic even after recovery spells are beyond her remaining strength. When the mission proves to be part of a plot against Zephyr, her knowledge of court politics and her respect for the Sword Duke help her interpret the attack as more than an archaeological disaster. The lycanthrope crisis turns the formerly awkward royal alliance into family. Felicia rushes through Gerard's attack to pull Caitlin out of danger and heal her. When both Caitlin and In-gong are incapacitated, Chris entrusts Felicia—the strongest magician present—with the Moonlight Extract; she contains it in magic, divides it, and helps deliver the portions that stabilize them. She cooks porridge during their recovery, accepts Caitlin clinging to her, and develops an easier, teasing relationship with Chris. The bond is reciprocal: Chris asks In-gong to protect both women, while Felicia's fear and relief show that she no longer treats their survival as a factional calculation. (Chapters 78–85)

Her later missions unite scholarship, command, and large-scale combat. In the Spider Forest, Felicia recognizes guardian mechanisms from her studies, treats the residents' safety as more important than satisfying her curiosity, and accepts Amita's request to defend the last flame. Given time to understand the magical field, she uses detection tools and layered preparation to turn the forest into favorable ground: chained lightning tears through a dense formation, while fire guided by wind spirits sweeps monsters without burning the forest itself. Underwater, she prepares breathing tools and formation discipline; at Takar, she studies the Dragon King's equipment and immediately sees both its magical structure and political value. The deepest change comes during an archaeological mission where Gerard, now the Famine Knight, attacks Felicia and Silvan. Silvan releases the dangerous fairy in his eye to protect her, and In-gong arrives to save them both, but the fairy continues consuming Silvan after the battle. Felicia voluntarily accepts In-gong's rule as the sixth member of the King's Knights so that Silvan's geis can remain attached to her when he is appointed next; the decision gives up political independence despite her position as a prospective leader of the dark elves. Conquest increases her body and magic power, and In-gong can then suppress the fairy. After she recovers, In-gong makes her the first person to whom he discloses that he is the Conquest Knight; Felicia accepts the explanation and advises concealing his identity from the palace for his protection. Her later letter to her mother Sylvia describes the terror of the attack and her absolute relief when he appeared, helping turn private trust into open dark-elf support for his faction. Curtis, the North, and the Succession

Felicia visits In-gong daily during his recovery and remains part of the coalition as separate royal missions give way to open war. At Curtis, she and In-gong recognize that simultaneous destruction of transportation formations requires organized betrayal and insider knowledge. Rather than leave Anastasia to a rival faction's collapse, the group works toward an organized rescue and withdrawal. Felicia contributes the analytical and recovery magic needed to sustain their rapid movement, while her established relationships with Chris, Caitlin, Silvan, and In-gong help turn royal cooperation from a temporary battlefield arrangement into a unified political force. (Chapters 150–175)

When the coalition visits the Sky Forest, Felicia serves as host, scholar, daughter, and defender of her people. She explains that its magic-rich fog is the dark elves' spiritual foundation, then helps respond when that power is corrupted into ghosts and a demonic god. Remembering the Thunderdoom charge, she rapidly organizes Chris, Caitlin, Seira, and Carack into a formation through the catacombs, casts recovery at the lowest level, and then uses flying magic while Caitlin carries her so they can destroy one of the strongholds feeding the disaster. The crisis brings Felicia's once-distant siblings into direct cooperation and confirms that her archaeological knowledge is inseparable from responsibility for the living culture around the ruins. On the northward voyage, In-gong shows Felicia, Caitlin, Silvan, Chris, and Carack the record that Shutra's body was created from Dhrtarastra's essence and born without a soul; he does not disclose to them the other-world origin of the soul that later inhabited it. Felicia first reassures him that he remains her brother by choice, but when Chris uses the absence of shared blood to raise Caitlin as a possible bride and tells Felicia to withdraw, she publicly clarifies that she sees In-gong as a man and will not yield. The revelation therefore changes the political and romantic possibilities without undoing the family bond she had chosen. (Chapters 199–200)

Beyond the Northern Limit Line, Felicia's limitations become as important as her range. She conserves magic in cold severe enough to extinguish ordinary fire, helps seal a refuge with Anastasia, and repeatedly exhausts herself sustaining the coalition's rapid march. Against Shutenberg's undead, she first partitions the field with Fire Barrier, then folds and raises the earth so enemies fall, trample one another, or are crushed by walls. Changing terrain while moving taxes her concentration and reserves, and far-seeing magic cannot resolve the distant clash around In-gong, but she regains focus through Carack's confidence and continues supporting the advance. When In-gong's soul is nearly destroyed, Felicia's recovery magic cannot repair it; the King's Knights' bond nevertheless confirms he is still alive, enabling her to suppress her grief and pursue the gandharva ritual that can save him. In the final battle, Felicia awakens as an apostle of Conquest and joins Silvan in using the fairy's magic power to block one of the red dragon's light pillars. She then follows In-gong and Silvan toward the dragon after the wider alliance opens a path. Felicia opposes its destructive fire with a wall made from all the magic she can gather, accepting that she cannot defeat the attack and aiming only to buy In-gong the seconds he needs. Her final recovery spell reaches him before she collapses from exhaustion, contributing directly to the strike that destroys the dragon's essence. After the war, she is dispatched west with Silvan, returns for In-gong's coronation, and stands beside him as one of his intended queens. By then she has heard In-gong's full account, but explicitly affirms that her love is unchanged. Her imminent marriage completes an arc that began with a cautious alliance: she remains a royal representative and expert magician, but her political future is now joined to the family and ruler she chose. Appearance and personality

Felicia is a young dark elf with a sharp, beautiful face, silver hair, red eyes, pointed ears, and a slender build. Her usual dark-elven clothing exposes her shoulders and midriff, though she replaces it with a practical leather exploration outfit fitted with many pockets when entering dangerous ruins. At formal encounters she can adopt a delicate, restrained manner very different from her energetic everyday behavior. She strongly resembles her mother Sylvia, though Felicia is younger and the two differ in details such as eye color. (Chapters 22, 26, 64, 100–101, and 146)

She is proud, expressive, and intellectually curious. New ruins, ancient writing, unusual magic, or dragon materials can pull her attention immediately toward investigation, while embarrassment reddens her face and ears and often sends her fan up as a shield. That scholarly enthusiasm does not override her empathy: she designs expeditions around avoiding deaths, spends her remaining power on the injured, and refuses additional Heavenly Wine when she understands that making it costs In-gong blood and divinity. Her sharp teasing and occasional haughtiness coexist with sincerity, family loyalty, and an increasingly open capacity for affection. (Chapters 25, 53–64, 72, 137, and 183)

Felicia also has strong strategic and political instincts. She evaluates alliances, support among the species, transportation infrastructure, mission costs, and the public value of relics, and she is willing to challenge plans that waste lives or resources. Under emotional shock, however, her magic can surge out of control and her first impulse is often to run toward endangered family. Her development does not remove that emotional nature; it teaches her to combine it with preparation, command, and trust in companions. (Chapters 61–64, 118, 141, 158, 183, and 216)

Powers and abilities

Spirit magic and battlefield control

Dark elves possess unusually high spirit affinity, and Felicia is identified as a gifted spirit master even before her skill as a conventional magician is considered. She can summon and direct wind, water, fire, and earth spirits. Rather than treating them as interchangeable projectiles, she assigns them environmental work: wind probes cracks or changes the course of flames, water fills a fissure before Freeze expands it, earth spirits excavate shelter, and wind can steer fire through enemies while sparing a forest. Her strongest applications combine an element's physical properties with terrain and allied movement. (Chapters 24, 32, 90, 186, and 209)

This control scales from small openings to whole battlefields. Grease makes a charging blood ogre fall; wind and barriers create safe routes through fire and traps; Fire Barrier partitions an undead horde; and earth magic folds ground and raises crushing walls. The magic is not absolute: stronger flames can overwhelm her, and moving while repeatedly reshaping terrain leaves her breathless. Severe environments also matter; beyond the Limit Line, wind and cold extinguish conjured fire, and Felicia deliberately refuses to waste reserves on temporary warmth. Elemental and utility magic

Felicia can cast direct attack, barrier, movement, detection, and observation spells in addition to spirit magic. With half a day to understand the Spider Forest's magical principles and prepare the field, she uses a detection wand and sensory spells to monitor the battle, releases lightning that chains across roughly thirty monsters, and follows it with broad flames governed by her wind spirits. Elsewhere she uses Tornado, Freeze, levitation, flying magic, magical barriers, and far-seeing magic. These examples show that preparation and comprehension materially increase her effectiveness; unfamiliar interference, lost concentration, or depleted magic can prevent even recovery spells she normally knows. Her magic is strongest as part of a formation. Felicia restricts or displaces enemies so physical fighters can finish them, carries a flight spell while Caitlin supplies movement, and combines defensive casting with Carack's shield or Silvan's sword. Against the red dragon, her latest and greatest defensive feat is explicitly temporary: she cannot overpower its destructive fire, but spends all her magic opposing it long enough for In-gong to pass. The feat demonstrates the mature form of her battlefield role—precise, cooperative, and willing to trade her entire reserve for a decisive opening. (Chapters 54, 66, 189–190, and 227)

Recovery and support magic

Felicia is one of the coalition's principal healers. Her spells include ordinary recovery, Massive Heal, Cure Poison, and treatment for disease, and she can apply them both immediately after trauma and during a moving expedition. She removes an ice arrow from In-gong and closes the wound, returns at night to treat residual poison and illness, heals Ferocious Eyes and injured centaurs, pulls Caitlin from danger before treating her, and restores the catacomb team during a brief halt. Her medical role depends on magic reserve and access to the patient; after prolonged casting she may have to use a potion herself, and no recovery spell can repair the near-severing of In-gong's soul. (Chapters 23, 26, 55–58, 69, 79, 189, and 216)

She can also manipulate magically active medicine. During Caitlin and In-gong's crisis, Felicia wraps the Moonlight Extract in magic, divides it without destroying its properties, and coordinates with other healers to deliver it to both patients. On long marches she joins Daphne and Anastasia in repeated recovery work, but the pace visibly exhausts all three. In the final battle she casts one last recovery on In-gong only after committing her remaining power to the flame wall, leaving her unable to continue but ensuring her support reaches the coalition's decisive attacker. Archaeology, magical analysis, and command

Felicia is an experienced archaeologist who studies relics, ancient scripts, guardian systems, and concentrated magical phenomena. She can recognize changes in ambient magic, distinguish the purpose of old installations, and reason from historical evidence about indigenous species or the first fairy king. Her expeditions reflect professional method: small expert parties, tested protection against poison, breathing tools for underwater ruins, clear formations, and withdrawal when curiosity would endanger others. Later, she recognizes the Demon King's signature in a concealed transportation formation and carefully examines the gandharva ritual circle; the text has Amita, not Felicia, explicitly identify Dhrtarastra's essence. Her command ability is consequently logistical as well as tactical. She assigns roles before entry, interprets traps quickly enough to issue useful orders, tracks the political consequences of discoveries, and turns earlier experiences into reusable formations. She is not omniscient: new poisons bypass her preparations, ancient systems can conceal their real purpose, and she often needs time or instruments to establish a magical principle. Those limits explain why her most successful missions pair analysis with In-gong's unusual senses, Carack's frontline stability, and the specialized skills of the larger expedition. (Chapters 64–72, 86–100, 118, 137–141, and 189)

King's Knights

The King's Knights system grows from five to seven positions during the battle with Famine, but Silvan initially rejects In-gong's appointment because his existing geis makes him Felicia's knight. Felicia therefore volunteers to become the sixth King's Knight first, placing herself under In-gong so that Silvan can accept the seventh position without breaking his oath. Once Silvan is connected through Conquest, In-gong can reach the fairy as a part of him and suppress its uncontrolled magic. Felicia's appointment places a white Conquest mark on her forehead, immediately increases her physical ability and magic power, and links her to In-gong. When he later lies near death, that bond lets Felicia confirm that his life persists even though ordinary healing fails; after his restoration, she intuitively recognizes the manifested Conquest. The precise numerical scale of her enhancement is not given. (Chapters 141–142, 216, and 224)

In the final Sanctuary battle, Conquest awakens Felicia as an apostle. She and Silvan immediately combine against one of the red dragon's light pillars through the fairy's magic power, and Felicia afterward expends her remaining magic on a flame wall and recovery spell. The corpus establishes the upgrade and these applications but does not isolate Felicia's exact apostle multiplier, altered appearance, independent activation conditions, duration, or post-battle cost from the exhaustion caused by her spellcasting. • Tears of a Dark Elf: Felicia gives In-gong one member of the paired Tears as a protective necklace while retaining its counterpart herself. His necklace completely blocks Mustafa's mental attack. When Famine blocks the pair's magic flow, In-gong's Tear loses its light and alerts him to Felicia's danger; both shine again once the blockage breaks. The defense is not universal, since it cannot stop Titania's bewitchment. In-gong retains the necklace through its latest appearance, while Felicia is last shown retaining her counterpart.
