Chris Moonlight is the Seventh Prince of the Demon World, Elaine Moonlight's son and the intended future king of the lycanthropes. A gifted aura fighter and pragmatic commander, he turns an exploratory alliance with the disregarded In-gong into sustained military and political support. His devotion to Caitlin shapes both his caution and his plans for the lycanthropes, while his refusal to become In-gong's subordinate preserves his own royal duty within their coalition.

Biography

Alliance on the Frontiers

Chris begins the Red Lightning campaign as a seventeen-year-old prince already commanding his own unit and preparing for the lycanthrope throne. His first treatment of In-gong is friendly but strategic: he supports Caitlin's proposal for a reconnaissance assignment that can earn the neglected prince independent merit, offers to teach him aura after recognizing his talent, and sees the newly discovered dwarf portal as both a military opportunity and evidence of In-gong's value. When In-gong requests Divine Beast Authority as his reward, Chris accepts the request as the foundation of a deeper alliance. (Chapters 3–17)

That alliance develops through Chris's decisions as field commander. He verifies the portal before relying on it, uses it to strike the Red Lightning rear, and avoids a reckless attack on ordered enemy troops when unnecessary casualties would undo their advantage. His initial dealings with Felicia are guarded because she represents another royal family outside his lycanthrope circle, even though the dark elves have not joined one of the established succession factions. He nevertheless participates in her rescue and later trusts her with the sensitive hunt for Gerard. By passing royal lycanthrope training to In-gong and cooperating with Felicia, Chris begins building a family coalition that did not exist before the campaign. (Chapters 19–28 and 71–77)

Gerard's escape turns Chris's family responsibility into a personal test. Chris and Caitlin confront their uncle with a pincer refined over years, but Gerard's Famine power disrupts their aura and nearly kills all three royal fighters. Chris continues attacking after Caitlin falls, is left with shattered knees, and still prioritizes treatment over pursuing Gerard. The defeat proves that Chris's strength and protective instinct are insufficient by themselves; Caitlin's recovery through the Starlight Core then persuades him to let her travel with In-gong rather than keep her permanently at his side. Chris responds to that vulnerability politically as well as personally. He explains that his talent and the lycanthropes' forces cannot overcome Baikal and Zephyr in a direct succession struggle, whereas In-gong can gain support across species and eventually protect the lycanthropes as Demon King. His calculation is also shaped by Caitlin's parentage: Chris knows she is Elaine and Gallehed's daughter rather than Mitra's biological child, while Caitlin knows nothing about her own birth. When In-gong's record is revealed, Chris explicitly wonders whether Mitra has discovered Caitlin's secret. At the next court gathering, Chris helps turn his support into a visible fourth royal faction. He and Felicia take positions around In-gong, advise him politically, and organize meetings with potential supporters. Chris permits Caitlin to choose In-gong's mission because her linked core makes that team stronger, even though the separation is personally difficult. He nevertheless distinguishes alliance from subordination: when offered a place in the King's Knights, he refuses because a future lycanthrope king cannot be conquered by another ruler, but gives Caitlin freedom to accept. The Sky Forest crisis demonstrates that coalition in practice. Chris protects Caitlin during the first panic, uses his knowledge of spirits and battlefield stories to understand the threat, and breaks through the palace to reach the fairy king's tomb. Beyond the Northern Limit Line, Chris acts as a coalition commander rather than a solitary champion. He directs troops away from frost worms toward the enemy corps, carries Felicia and Anastasia as a mobile spell platform, coordinates with Caitlin and Silvan without lengthy orders, and moves toward Baikal's force when the undead separate the royal siblings. When In-gong collapses, Chris urgently seeks a cure and organizes the remaining people. After Mitra and the palace disappear, he entrusts Caitlin to the gandharva rescue party and returns to help Elaine, again allowing responsibility to his species to determine where he must stand. Chris rejoins Elaine and the Blood Companions for the final Sanctuary battle, using his power of wilderness to block the red dragon's attacks and open In-gong's path. He briefly envies the King's Knights' ability to answer In-gong's Call but does not abandon the independent duty that made him refuse the order. After victory, he supports In-gong's coronation and Caitlin's marriage. He also finally releases his decade-long resentment toward Silvan for a childhood fairy accident, judging Silvan by his regained control and his actions in the coalition rather than by an injury neither Caitlin nor Silvan remembers. Appearance and personality

Chris is introduced at seventeen with a handsome face, golden hair resembling a lion's mane, and blue eyes that alternate between playfulness and a wild predator's stare. His body is exceptionally large and muscular for his age, creating a sharp contrast with his youthful face. He usually wears animal hides or tiger leather that make him look like a bandit, a style traced to his teacher Bruce, and retains the same imposing silhouette in formal black suits. Chris is an elite close-combatant whose strength comes from his lycanthrope-sura body, highly developed aura, Divine Beast Authority, and a later partial release of his beast blood. By seventeen he is already compared with senior palace generals, but he assesses himself realistically: his power is not enough to overcome the older Baikal or the exceptional Zephyr, and Gerard defeats him despite his talent.

Hybrid physique and senses

As Elaine and Mitra's biological son, Chris combines a werewolf lycanthrope lineage with the sura blood of the Demon King. Lycanthrope vitality makes aura awakening easier, but his early mastery still requires unusual talent and sustained work. His hybrid body supplies exceptional strength, speed, endurance, and recovery; together with aura and his later wilderness release, it lets him fight bare-handed, break floors, run down a palace wall, and carry two adult magicians through enemy ranks at high speed. He uses aura-enhanced sight to assess distant troops, although Chapter 20 shows that extreme distance still defeats it. He also shares the lycanthropes' strong sense of smell and personally reacts to In-gong's altered scent, but the corpus gives no quantified range or specialized tracking feat for Chris's nose. Aura is life force deliberately circulated and released to strengthen the body. Chris awakens it in his mid-teens, reaches a basic release level only after roughly a year, and develops enough sensitivity to examine another person's circulation by touch. He can focus aura into his eyes, fists, and full body; use it for direct reinforcement and explosive attacks; and disrupt a training circulation without injuring its participants. His large reserve is nearly twice In-gong's during their early central training, but Famine can still brake it and extended combat can drain it completely. (Chapters 11–13, 20, 77, 79, and 84)

Chris is the successor to the royal Divine Beast Authority, built on the werewolf branch of Beast Authority he learned through Elaine's line. The underlying style circulates internal and external aura to magnify physical movement, while its advanced royal form produces the explosive force used in his punches, charges, and battlefield breakthroughs. He helps teach it to In-gong and can distinguish In-gong's later Divine Sura Authority from the original technique by reading its circulation. His most effective application is coordinated pressure. Power of wilderness

After the first battle with Gerard, Chris awakens a deeper ability to draw out his lycanthrope blood. He activates it by breathing deeply and concentrating on that blood; his teeth and claws sharpen, his muscles swell, and his golden body hair grows heavier. The release greatly increases his speed and physical force, letting him descend the outer wall of the dark-elven palace and smash a magic stronghold after crossing a field of specters. It remains a partial transformation because his mixed heritage prevents a complete lycanthrope Beast Form. (Chapter 190)

The narrative later calls this release the power of wilderness. Caitlin learns to explode her own lycanthrope blood in a similar fashion, making Chris's control a benchmark for her apostle transformation. Chris still has access to the power during the final battle, when he raises it beside the Blood Companions to block the red dragon's aura attacks. In direct campaigns he leads breakthrough units and later controls mixed formations in snowstorms and undead battles. His commands are concise because long practice lets Caitlin and other experienced fighters infer their roles, but unfamiliar allies can still require explanation or restraint.
