Li Qinghou is a Spirit Stream Sect master apothecary, legacy cultivator, and senior leader whose decision to bring Bai Xiaochun into the cultivation world develops into a paternal bond that shapes both their lives.

Biography

When the Ovens crew manipulates Outer Sect trials for profit, Li Qinghou ends the scheme without discarding its participants. He assigns Bai Xiaochun to his own Fragrant Cloud Peak, explains that cultivation demands effort and opportunity, and makes expulsion back to the village the consequence Bai Xiaochun cannot evade. He ultimately opposes sending Bai Xiaochun away until the disciple can master a life-preserving secret magic, while Xu Meixiang identifies the feeling behind these measures as that of a father. Gold Core and the Lower Reaches War

Li Qinghou prepares Bai Xiaochun for the Foundation Establishment Holy Lands by explaining the available paths, placing him under direct protection before departure, and supplying a defensive treasure that can withstand attacks from multiple new Foundation Establishment cultivators. His anxiety does not end when Bai Xiaochun succeeds. He joins the search after Du Lingfei disappears, orders the sect and its clans to continue looking, and waits for evidence that grief has loosened its hold before entering his own long seclusion. That seclusion is intended to decide whether Li Qinghou can fulfill the Spirit Stream Sect’s greatest expectation for his generation: reaching Core Formation within two sixty-year-cycles and entering the Legacy Echelon. Those fears culminate during Bai Xiaochun’s Heaven-Dao Gold Core breakthrough, when Li Qinghou and the people closest to him can only watch. Success confirms Bai Xiaochun as the new sect’s central figure, while Li Qinghou’s smile of gratification helps him accept responsibility as the River-Defying Sect’s junior patriarch. Li Qinghou’s own place in the unified sect combines succession planning with continued guardianship. By the time the three rival Middle Reaches sects attack the River-Defying Sect, Li Qinghou has reached the Nascent Soul stage. Patriarch Dao River does not target him for that rank, but because his family bond with Bai Xiaochun and Bruiser makes him effective bait. Bruiser tries to rescue him and is nearly killed, while Li Qinghou is carried to the Dao River Court and left imprisoned for half a year. The destruction of the Heavenspan Realm scatters Li Qinghou into Vile-Emperor territory, where he and Patriarch Spirit Stream endure battle wounds while gathering survivors. When news proves that Bai Xiaochun is alive in the Saint-Emperor Dynasty, Li Qinghou refuses to abandon the injured patriarch for an easier journey to him. He reasons that Bai Xiaochun can protect himself and that their work is to give displaced Heavenspan cultivators a place to rally. Together they begin re-forming the River-Defying Sect, transforming Bai Xiaochun’s distant success into hope while their own lives remain precarious. (Chapters 1050, 1075, and 1163)

The refugee coalition grows with Big Fatty Zhang’s covert help, but the Vile-Prince eventually captures its members and uses a formation to extract their blood. By the time Bai Xiaochun arrives, Li Qinghou is gray-haired and severely weakened. Captivity leaves white hairs and wrinkles that make him look older, and his hair is gray in the Eternal Immortal Domains before becoming fully white in later life.
