Patriarch Ironwood is a Spirit Stream Sect Nascent Soul patriarch who protects Bai Xiaochun during the sect war and helps build the River-Defying Sect's new Middle Reaches foundation. (Chapters 271–326)
Biography
Protection and River-Defying Construction
Patriarch Ironwood first enters Bai's immediate concerns as the recipient of one of his notorious medicinal pills, creating comic anxiety about possible punishment. In the war, however, Ironwood's institutional loyalty is decisive: he teleports into the battlefield to block an enemy elder from killing Bai. After victory and unification, he joins the other Nascent Soul patriarchs in planning the River-Defying Sect, working on its Heavenspan Battleships, and watching over the new junior patriarch. When Bai requests Heavenspan River water, Ironwood personally delivers it, and he shares the leadership's fear that losing Bai would be a disaster for the sect. His last scenes show astonishment at Bai's connection to the Blood Ancestor rather than any break in that protective role. (Chapters 271–280 and 315–326)
Appearance and personality
