Rachel

Rachel Elizabeth Louise is an English princess, Hero, vice leader of the English Royal Court, and its designated guild-leader successor. She enters Cube determined to acquire the knowledge needed to restore England's Hero institutions, but her duties repeatedly force her to balance royal expectations, national sovereignty, and the lives immediately in front of her. Her trust in Kim Hajin unlocks an elemental affinity that becomes central to her work in England, the Tower of Wish, Crevon, and the coalitions against Orden and Baal. Biography

The princess at Cube

Rachel begins Cube isolated by rank and nationality. Korean is a foreign language for her, yet she intends to master both theory and combat and eventually write a textbook for the English Royal Hero Academy. English citizens already expect her to reach Master rank, and she answers that pressure by sleeping no more than two hours a night. Even breaking a test record makes her apprehensive rather than triumphant, because every personal result carries national meaning. (Chapters 2–3 and 23)

Her royal identity becomes a danger during Cube's midterm examination when Alex Lancaster, a former captain of England's Royal Guard, appears among the hostile forces. An assassin exploits Rachel's guilt over England's past and defeats the conventional tactics behind her rapier style. Hajin breaks through a wall, kills the attacker, and treats her wounds. Rachel subsequently aligns her testimony with his, thanks him, and asks him for a weapon rather than exposing his hidden capabilities. (Chapters 44–46)

Rachel's blood also affects the dormant Evandel's Seed during its seed phase. Gauze carrying blood from her earlier injury is consumed by the seed, which later seeks her out during the final examination and hatches against her wounded abdomen. The newborn resembles a younger Rachel, warms her injury, and calls her “Mommy.” Rachel is an unwitting blood donor and nurturing influence in this phase; the living Evandel is a person, never Rachel's item or property. Trust and elemental awakening

Rachel's trust in Hajin persists after the examinations. She asks the English Royal Court to recruit him and arranges a better contract, treating his talents as something England should value. Although she realizes that he is hiding considerable power, she explicitly refuses to investigate him in secret and decides to wait until he chooses to explain himself. That restraint turns gratitude into a durable relationship founded on consent rather than royal authority. (Chapters 83 and 85)

Hajin later gives Rachel the Butterfly Seedling Dust Bracelet, presenting it as a team gift while intending the sealed dust to awaken her elemental potential. It does not open on command. During training, Rachel forces magic through the platinum shell until she breaks it in half; the released dust pours into and is absorbed by her magic power. The bracelet is destroyed at that point, while the absorbed catalyst creates a pathway for her stalled affinity. (Chapters 110 and 117–118)

Rachel explains that her magic changes property with her surroundings, but her affinity has not progressed since age ten because elemental research is scarce. Hajin teaches her to resonate with nature rather than impose raw power, and green droplets from the grass confirm the awakening. Her first barriers remain jagged, cover only her upper body, and behave too statically to stop his curving bullets. She nevertheless demands repeated practice and later jumps after him when she believes he is falling, only to be caught by his transparent barrier. (Chapters 118–121)

Apprenticeship and England's burden

As an Apprentice Hero, Rachel chooses Essence of the Strait over an immediate return to the Royal Court. Her purpose is national rather than prestigious: Korean guild practice is more advanced, and she wants to adopt its effective methods in England. In the field, the wind elemental Sunday redirects darts while the earth elemental Okja detects traps and an impending explosion. Rachel then directs multiple elementals by thought to raise barriers, combining their protection with her rapier work. (Chapters 147 and 149)

The apprenticeship gives Rachel practical teamwork that royal instruction could not. She fights at close range with her rapier while assigning detection, interception, and defense to different elementals, then leaves Essence after a year with an emotional farewell. The choice costs her time away from home, but it equips her to return with methods she can transfer to the English Royal Court rather than merely adding another credential to her name. England immediately converts that preparation into responsibility. Rachel is made the Royal Court's youngest team leader and vice leader after another leader departs for Korea, while public trust in national leadership is already low. She seeks foreign aid and mercenary partnerships, but refuses a Hero Association arrangement that would erode England's influence and control. Her position forces her to negotiate between urgently needed protection and the sovereignty she was trained to preserve. (Chapters 152–155)

Organizing the Tower and defending Crevon

Inside the Tower of Wish, Rachel uses the name CaptainBritain, clears the advanced tutorial, and searches the Community for scattered Royal Court members. She runs meetings, maintains reports, and leads seven companions through hostile terrain. When cold-weather equipment is scarce, she gives the expensive armor to another team because her own can survive within an elemental warming barrier. Her leadership rests on distributing resources according to need rather than keeping the best protection around herself. (Chapters 163–165)

The English Royal Court then establishes a hideout in Prestige's third district. Rachel prioritizes work, farming, trade, and institutional stability instead of racing upward, while still joining the Guild Alliance and its castle campaigns. Away from England and Lancaster, she becomes noticeably freer and livelier, but not less responsible. Her reputation as an elementalist helps the hideout grow, and her contribution to the allied assaults establishes her as both organizer and combatant. (Chapters 181–199)

Crevon expands that role into command. Yuhael teaches Rachel to cooperate with elementals by sharing magic that makes them happy, a gentler and more effective philosophy than simply controlling them. As a special-army commander, Rachel heals the wounded through dozens of elementals, blocks large attacks, and combines sword strikes with elemental force. She refuses to abandon an eastern wall because retreat would expose civilians to massacre; her accidental message to Hajin then brings a support vessel that changes the battle's course. (Chapters 218 and 229)

England and the coalition against Orden

Rachel's reunion with the living Evandel changes the seed-born connection into a chosen relationship. Once she understands how the seed developed, she is embarrassed by the circumstances but responds to Evandel's affection rather than claiming parenthood or ownership. She begins traveling between Earth and Crevon on a demanding schedule so she can meet her command obligations while spending time with Evandel, accepting care as another responsibility she actively chooses. (Chapters 234–236)

When Orden threatens Europe, Rachel works from Buckingham Palace as both Royal Court vice leader and national representative. England's coast faces waves of monsters, Evandel's spirit-beast forces spread through Europe, and Rachel must protect their source from institutions that might exploit her. She survives the Association's failed assassination operation, returns to a brutal workload of defense deployments and negotiations, and helps shelter Evandel without turning the child into a bargaining asset. (Chapters 254, 270, and 278)

Orden's servants force states and factions that distrust one another into practical cooperation. Rachel grieves China's fallen Heroes despite diplomatic rivalry, hosts Chae Joochul and Yoo Yeonha while England contains Toji, and continues coordinating with Ah Hae-In and Crevon allies. During Orden's final operation, a delayed disaster alert reports another invasion of England; Rachel and Ah Hae-In have already resolved it, demonstrating that her contribution is national defense and civilian protection rather than the glory of striking the king personally. Secret Service and the battle with Baal

In the alternate world of Leores, Rachel's elementals become stronger because nature and mana are richer than on Earth. She uses them not only in battle but to speed carts, preserve perishable goods, and gather herbs for Yoo Yeonha's merchant group. After reuniting with Hajin's allies, she joins the Secret Service formed to stop Baal, accepts exorcist preparation, and helps inspect and defend the Transnational Peace Conference instead of waiting for rescue or a return home. Rachel enters Baal's barrier after hours of fighting, uses Windy's blessing to support exhausted allies, and persists in a coalition whose members have radically different powers and histories. Her elementals are among the few forces able to damage Baal's non-physical true body, while Earth's barrier protects her from a devastating impact. She then combines her elementals with Aileen's Spirit Speech to form a dragon-like creature that bites Baal's neck and uses purification with Galatine during the final collective strike. After the war, Rachel is publicly credited with saving hundreds of thousands of people through her elementals. Hajin's disappearance initially leaves her unable to place his name, but she becomes one of the people able to remember him and joins the effort surrounding his return. Living with Hajin, Evandel, and Yi Byul, she states that her goal remains England's and the Royal Court's restoration. Lancaster still lives, yet she is no longer afraid: her strength now comes from experience, chosen bonds, and the help she has learned to accept. (Chapters 364, 373–376)

Appearance and personality

Rachel is an exceptionally beautiful young woman with long blond hair and clear blue eyes. After three years away from Cube, she has lost her remaining baby fat, gained a sharper V-shaped face, and developed a more mature gaze. Thin dark circles reflect the sustained pressure and lack of sleep behind her polished royal presentation. In formal settings she dresses and speaks with a princess's composure; in private messages and among trusted companions, she is noticeably more expressive and playful. (Chapters 3, 23, 153, and 184)

She is diligent, courteous, patriotic, and intensely conscious of responsibility. That discipline can become overwork, self-reproach, or excessive deference to admired Heroes, while her pride makes her insist on repeating failed training exercises. Rachel's reserve does not mean emotional distance: she grieves foreign losses, protects Evandel from political exploitation, and repeatedly risks herself for allies and civilians. Over time she becomes more willing to make independent decisions instead of treating royal pressure as an unquestionable command. (Chapters 23, 119, 152, 229, 276, and 278)

Elemental affinity and communication

Rachel's magic power changes its qualities according to the surrounding environment. The Butterfly Seedling Dust absorbed after the bracelet's destruction opens a pathway to the elemental affinity that had been stagnant since childhood, while Hajin's instruction teaches her to resonate with nature. Her communication initially depends on limited research and imperfect teaching—Sunday speaks Korean because of Hajin's influence—but later training under Yuhael teaches her to cooperate with elementals by sharing magic rather than treating them as tools. The availability and condition of nature matter. Richer nature and mana in Leores amplify her elementals, while sustained use and large-scale battle still consume Rachel's own energy and the support of the beings she calls. Her named or directly addressed elementals include Sunday, Okja, Windy, Earth, Watery, and Sunshine; their different temperaments and functions make communication and coordination as important as raw output. Barriers, healing, and detection

Rachel can assign earth and other elementals to detect hidden dangers, intercept projectiles, heal wounded soldiers, regulate temperature, and construct barriers for herself or a group. Okja notices traps and an imminent explosion before ordinary senses do, while Earth later protects her from Baal's impact. In Crevon she maintains defenses against large attacks and uses dozens of elementals to treat casualties, making the Gift valuable for battlefield control as well as offense. (Chapters 149, 165, 229, and 361)

Her defenses progress from partial, jagged barriers into wide-area protection, but they are not absolute. Early barriers are too static to follow curved shots and leave parts of her body exposed; large formations require attention, magic, and cooperative elementals. Her strongest support feats therefore emerge when allies create time or space for her to organize, and when the environment contains enough natural energy for the elementals to answer effectively. Combined elemental attacks

Rachel layers different elemental functions rather than relying on one repeated attack. Wind can redirect incoming darts or carry her rapidly, water can become freezing mist, earth can defend, and multiple spirits can slow enemies for another swordsman's finishing blow. She also blesses allies and mixes elemental effects with her own sword techniques, allowing her to switch between control, support, purification, and direct damage as a battle changes. (Chapters 149, 229, 326, 344, and 356)

Her highest-level attacks are coalition techniques. Against Baal, her elementals and Aileen's Spirit Speech become a dragon-like creature capable of biting the devil's true body, and her purification through the Fairy Sword Galatine joins the final synchronized assault. These feats depend on compatible allies, anti-devil preparation, and a shared opening; they show her mature ability to combine powers rather than establish that she can reproduce the same result alone. Rapier combat

Rachel selects the rapier at Cube and becomes one of its highest-ranked cadets through precise, mobile swordsmanship. She uses the weapon to sever a Butterfly Seedling's root, protect Hajin, fight at close range during field training, and reinforce elemental attacks in Crevon. The style gives her a direct option when barriers or summons are occupied, while her wind elementals can improve positioning and create openings for thrusts and sword-energy attacks. Her early defeat by Lancaster's assassin exposes the limits of a polished but conventional style against an opponent who understands England's methods and exploits her emotions. Later progression comes from field experience and integrating the rapier with detection, barriers, and elemental force, not from abandoning the weapon. Even at her peak she relies on coalitions against beings such as Orden's servants and Baal, and prolonged large-scale combat can leave her exhausted. (Chapters 44–46, 147–150, 229, and 342–363)

• Kim Hajin: Hajin rescues Rachel from Lancaster's assassin, protects the secret of her elemental potential, and gives her the catalyst that awakens it. Rachel answers with unusual trust: she recruits rather than investigates him, follows his training despite repeated failure, calls on him when England needs aid, and later fights beside his Secret Service. After his return, she credits him and Evandel with helping her outgrow her fear. (Chapters 44–46, 83–85, 110–121, 152–155, 229, 325–330, and 376)
• Evandel: Rachel's blood nourishes Evandel's seed phase, but the living Evandel is neither an item nor Rachel's property. Their later bond is chosen through time, affection, and mutual protection: Rachel reorganizes travel and work to be with her, shields her from institutions seeking power, and supports her independent training and ambitions. • Yoo Yeonha: Rachel and Yeonha move from Cube peers to political and wartime partners. • Alex Lancaster: Lancaster embodies the unresolved violence in England's past and directs that grievance toward Rachel. His attacks exploit her guilt and help make fear part of her royal burden for years. By the end, he remains alive, but Rachel no longer treats that fact as proof of helplessness; confronting the consequences of England's history has become work she believes she can survive.
